my parents may be complicated individuals to put it lightly but I’ve been really realizing as of late that, by all means, I am so fucking grateful they raised me on the music that they did as a fundamental part of my formative years, and that now, because of that, I have the range of musical knowledge and appreciation that I do today like… seriously dude it’s such a gift and if I can genuinely thank them for any rug without caveats, it’d be that.

#kibumblabs #it’s interesting to me that most of the music I like the most and that’s the most memorable in terms of nostalgia and all rhag are songs #and artists from my mom rather than my dad. interesting because my dad was Constantly playing music in the house or in the car or wherever #just allllllll the fucking time. and don’t get me wrong a good portion of that also influenced me not saying it didn’t– but despite #that and despite the fact that my mom was always so busy she didn’t have much time to play music nor be around me as consistently as my dad #her music– mostly from her childhood through young adulthood (70s-80s mainly) is the stuff that really really influenced my current taste #in music and really just. me as a person in general #I’ve been thinking about this a lot cause I started making a childhood nostalgia playlist and it’s got certain commonalities to it but #even though there’s a certain few genres/eras more prevalent than others its still like. ALL over the place #from ray charles or Sam Cooke to the white stripes to Bowie to Earth Wind and Fire to Johnny Cash to Andy Gibb to culture club and etc #I’m proud of it in a weird way. it’s like #very important to me #anyway i should sleep it’s like 5sm
