I haven’t decided if they’re going to become an oc or just some doodle motivation, but I have seen so many people get really pretty creatures so I am hoping to break that streak and get the freakiest freak you got! Dream goal would be if you pulled out something on the same level as a tailess whip scorpion, (if anyone is even slightly arachnophobic I would not look them up, they are like the “worst” parts of spiders cranked up to 11, otherwise definitely look them up they’re cool as hell)

I was working on art for your fic and it really wasn’t turning out how I wanted it to so I was going to scrap it and start over, however, I realized I should probably share these with you even if I don’t think they’re up to snuff!! This may have been answered already and I’ve totally missed it (if so feel free to just ignore this if you want haha!) but is Cassie aware the toys in Safe Haven are all kids, when did she find out (if she does), and what was her reaction to it? Obviously the animatronics in Security Breach are pretty lifelike, but they’re still just animatronics. Living toys made from children, many of which probably still have meaty flesh bits inside? That’s a whole ‘nother ball park!

I recall having somewhat touched on this on another ask but that was a bit ago already sooooo

The thing about Playtime's underbelly is that if you're outside it (AKA the outside world, the surface, whatever you call,) it's very affordable to keep their dirty secrets hidden... but if you're actually inside there? The gritty reality is very hard to fly over anyone's head. Sure, certain details might be possible to keep hidden, but the overall gist of it all? Not so much.

I feel like Doey certainly would want to spare Cassie from the dark truth, but problem is... that's not really something that can be kept hidden for much long, especially now that she's smack in the middle of it along with them. If he tried lying to her to spare her, she simply would end up finding out some other way, which is arguably worse than being told the truth from the start. That said, I think Doey would try not to lie, but would still be vague, only answering certain questions if Cassie ends up specifically asking those... as well as elaborating on things she may already have found out on her own.

I don't have it laid out how Cassie finds out about what/who the toys actually are, but her reaction to it probably would be just about what you'd expect from a sensible 10-year-old with basic human sense, give or take; I imagine she'd feel so terrible to the point of nausea (like, you ever had to take in some kind of information that made you so upset you felt sick? Kinda like that.) If she can feel sorry for ones like Roxy who are fully mechanical, she certainly would feel for 'toys' who are for all ends and purposes flesh and bone just like her. Distressingly so.

But, Cassie also is still just a kid, and the truth of Playtime is something of a magnitude that may also be too big for a kid to take in, so she also would need to process and digest that shit in bits.

But, if anything, it weirdly(maybe) may also help Cassie further bond with her toy peers (not just Doey but also the other friendly toys in Safe Haven;) while she may not fully relate to what it's like to go through those experiments, she certainly would understand how betrayed those toys kids feel, because they were all lied to by those who virtually should've protected them, looked out for them and those who made everything to earn their trust only to spit it back at them when it was their time to be experimented on. That intense sense betrayal and injustice is something Cassie herself feels deeply in her bones now, left there by "Gregory" AND Gregory. Heck, "Gregory's" betrayal hurts less than Gregory's, because that's exactly the thing about betrayal: it never comes from an enemy.

What would Playtime even turn them into? For some reason my first thought for George is a Bron, just this little dino huffing at the scientists grumpily at every little thing.

I have an AU of my AU i keep poking at on the side where they both survive and they talk playtime into keeping them as prison labor (human surprisingly) in order to stay near their son and his glasses getting busted in the hour is a plot point.

Susan I'm not as sure about, maybe a catbee to stay with the older toys? what if she was made into something like Mrs Delight? Or maybe a mini critter thinking it'd keep her from being able to cause too much extra trouble (it wouldn't) ugghhh so many choices!

Referencing your response to this ask (where you mention being worried about interacting with the Doey fandom atm) I think people are just getting very vocal about their headcanons atm, though I haven’t actually seen almost any drama about how he has been characterized. Maybe a month ago we had a little, but now that time has passed we’re just sorta getting “this is how I see him!” but stated in a very matter of fact way, and I can definitely remember a few posts going “while everyone characterizes him/one of the kids *this* way, *I* see them *this*” but no actual drama drama. (Perhaps I am somehow missing all the insane stuff though, I am air headed enough that might be true XD)

I think you write Doey in a very enjoyable way to read!! I need to catch up on the newest chapters of Second chances (my reading backlog is very large atm TwT). I really enjoy the dynamic you have going on with the reader and am very excited to see more.

(This ended up being a longer answer than you were probably hoping for, sorry about that TwT;; )

(Also I am very anxious, awkward, and have only been in fandom a couple years so don't take my perspective too seriously, I'm probably fretting way more than I need to but this is where I'm at.)

A lot of it is less the characterizations themselves and more debate around how old Doey/the boys are when the game takes place and who is okay to ship them with.

There are people who are so sure of their interpretation of the experiments as perpetual children that they insist anyone who claims otherwise is simply lying because they want to ship children and the thought of someone like that stumbling across Second Chances genuinely terrifies me. (Maybe I'll regret admitting that but oh well.) So, I tend to avoid rb'ing stuff unless I'm reasonably sure the person isn't going to freak out at me. (Admittedly sometimes I don't always check or think about it, but a lot of times I'll be about to rb a cute picture because it's a cute picture and then be like "Ehh...I don't want them to think I'm imposing my own hc's on this just because I like the art" and then just not.)

I guess I have trouble telling when people are joking about stuff or how serious they're actually being. So I guess I haven't really seen "drama" either in the sense of like...people being mean directly in comments/asks. But when I see someone talking about "kicking you in the face" (general you because this was just someone on their own blog not like, attacking me or anyone else directly) because you think the experiments continued aging (at least mentally) and are now in their early-mid 20's, it rattles me a bit. I know it probably shouldn't--they're most likely just being hyperbolic for the sake of humor and even if they're not, it doesn't translate to them doing anything more than more vagueblogging. But still, I've pre-emptively blocked a lot of people like that because I don't want them seeing my stuff if they're going to be that upset about it.

But, you are most likely right. I haven't been attacked or anything. I got a couple comments of people clearly not realizing it was meant to be a romantic ship between adults, and was even tagged in a post where people were discussing it, but even then the worst they said was along the lines of "I wish she was writing something different".
