"The two things we take for granted everyday - time and health. The moment you lose them, only then do you wake up." JVDW I'm asked frequently, "what is your motivation for running?" Especially long distances and I usually give a quick answer and say because I can! But the hard truth is; My Health. Late spring of 2018 I was contacted by the Mayo Clinic to take part in a research study. They were looking for type 2 diabetics that had progressed into taking insulin because things had no longer become manageable. I agreed to a randomization process, one group would receive a medical procedure the other group would not. I was selected for the procedure. This particular procedure would fold my stomach in half and sew it together with one continuous stitch rather than multiple.This continuous stitch method is recently new and more research on the effectiveness of this procedure was needed. It was expected that I would lose over 60 pounds and become diabetes free. So I thought why not, at the time I was not as serious a runner and had not even run my first 1/2 marathon. The testing started, bone density scan, MRI, meetings with nutritionist, psych testing, etc. It was discovered that I had an H. Pylori infection, this is what causes ulcers. And until that was cleared up we could not go through with the procedure. That was a rough time, the medication would cause me to throw up every morning. Even though I had been losing weight and was taken off of insulin, running was still a struggle, getting myself to my first 1/2 marathon was not easy! But I kept at it because of what had happened to me roughly 12 years ago. In 2007 several months after being diagnosed with diabetes I found myself in the emergency room with a temperature of 108. My blood sugar was over 1000 and my A1c was 14.9, I was put on IV antibiotics and on the third day I would come out of it. A fatty liver, my declining vision had become so horrible I could not read the word stop on the sign. Unfortunately I would not change my eating habits I would not take care of my body. Until the fall of 2017 when I started the 10 week program at Farrell's. Exploring cameras as objects: What power does the object have? What power do we give it? 

Outcome as Process. Process as Outcome. 

Do outcomes, frames, or compositional resolutions privilege one moment over another? “Form comes out of motion,” motion does not come out of form (jvdw). Any moment could exist in a frame. An “ending” could occur at any time. Any moment could be a resolution. How do we allow photographs dictate a hierarchy of moments in our lives? In our collective memory? In our societal history?
