Blade and Kabuto are both series with rhino beetle themed main riders and stag beetle secondaries. On the sentai side, Kabutoraiger is the red of the Gouraigers, and out of Beet and Stag Buster the major character is definitely Jin. But then fast forward to Reiwa and we have Kingohger with two stag themed rangers and no rhino ranger, and Revice also had Overdemons who was stag themed. Does this speak to a preference of stag beetles over rhino beetles in today's youth, with 20 years ago the opposite being true? 🤔

Rinko Kikuchi (Mako Mori in Pacific Rim) is returning to the kaiju genre in What to Do With the Dead Kaiju?, as Colonel Sen Masago. Since the kaiju is dead, I think it’ll be much harder for her character to be unceremoniously killed off in a helicopter.

Toei and Shochiku are bringing the film to Japanese theaters on February 4; no word on a U.S. release yet.
