Summary: A one shot in which the reader is dating Katsuki Bakugo. He says something rude about her in the press, and it drives her to cheat with Katsuki's best friend...Izuku Midoriya. Izuku can't fight his attraction to The Reader, and ultimately his lust wins out against his loyalty to his best friend. 😲

As anti BKDK & anti Bakugou, can I ask why you hate him and Aizawa so much (at least I get it why you dislike Endevour)? Yes, Bakugou was bad at first, but he grew as character. Now, he is one of the best anime/manga character ever. When he 'died', many anti Bakugou overjoyed, but he came back alive !!

Why do you thing Bakugou as a character is so popular (beloved by non shippers and shippers)?

Thanks for your blog, I don't like to say rude things just because of fandom and fictional characters, but can I ask why you dislike Bakugou so much when he changed so much? Like, his devotion to Midoriya is real and he truly is a hero.

I have made a lot of posts about why I hate Bakugou.

It's not because he's a bad person. A bad person can be a great character. Shigaraki is one of my favorite characters in the series. I have a lot of issues with Bakugou as a character, not a person.

A big issue is probably how everyone treats him, especially in comparison to other characters. Bakugou can be as callous and spiteful as he wants and so many characters trip over themselves to praise him. Aizawa (I'll get to him in a second), All Might, and the other teachers don't see fit to correct his behavior, even when he's been violent towards his other classmates (mainly Izuku). Worse, Aizawa outright favors him.

Bakugou punched Izuku during the Final Exam and refused to cooperate. What did Aizawa do? Nothing. He passed him even though he failed Sero, who sacrificed himself to save Mineta. He doesn't even scold Bakugou for this even though he scolded Uraraka and Aoyama during the Training Camps.

Monoma isn't even half as bad as Bakugou. At worst, he gives 1A a hard time occasionally. But 1A absolutely can't stand him. Bakugou's friends- Kirishima and Sero- are Monoma's biggest critics.

Then there's how the narrative bends over backwards to make Bakugou seem like a better person. And why I hate Aizawa is that most of the time it's through him. Bakugou is accused of going too hard on Uraraka? Aizawa scolds the crowd to blatantly tell us- the viewers- that they don't know what they're talking about and that Bakugou respects Uraraka as an opponent.

Which isn't even true. He a) blatantly told Uraraka that she should have given up and b) assumed her plan was Izuku's doing. Aizawa was dead wrong, even though he's supposed to be a way to tell us what's going on. And this isn't even the only time he does this, he also defended Bakugou's behavior to the journalists and said that he would work on improving it.

Except he didn't. But this was a way to, once again, shut down criticism of Bakugou. Everyone who criticizes Bakugou even a little is antagonized to make him look better than he is: the pros at the Sports Festival, the journalists, Monoma, etc.

Izuku is also forced to be a tool to make Bakugou's development look better. He was forced to validate Bakugou's insecurities during Deku vs Kacchan Part 1. We're told, by All Might, that Izuku doesn't hold Bakugou's behavior against him. Even Bakugou's apology was less about Izuku- his victim- and more about making Bakugou look better. Izuku, as one of my favorite characters, deserves better than that.

Also, to me, Bakugou's "change" isn't all that significant. He still does most of the things he did before, it was just changed to be more comedic. Bakugou didn't actually change, he got a character shift to make it easier to redeem him. How can I say he's changed when none of the other characters hold him accountable?

I hate Aizawa because he's a bad teacher and a hypocrite. He's constantly scolding and berating Izuku, but says almost nothing to Bakugou. Accuses All Might of favoritism when he had a whole protege on the side he was trying to get into the hero course. Constantly berates his class for their faults while doing nothing to make them better.

Again, during the Final Exam, he had five other students who failed. Students he could have easily worked with prior to that exam. But he was fine bending over backwards to make sure Bakugou passed. He's a bad teacher that the series tries to make out to be better than he is.

Also, I do NOT hate mlm shipping. Zolu is one of my favorite ships ever. I hate yaoi shippers who feel the need to bash female characters for getting in the way of their ship (or being shipped with a male character in Katara's case). It's blatant misogyny, just because it's gay doesn't mean it's not prejudiced. Uraraka gets treated terribly by BakuDeku shippers, or she's shipped with Tsu or Toga, tucked away in a background sapphic ship where she can't interfere. That's just as bad as bashing her because it's using a sapphic ship as a tool to prop a gay ship.

I don't hate mlm shipping. I hate how some of my favorite characters are treated because of it. There's also an issue with it fetishizing gay men for straight women, but that's another issue entirely.

My hatred for BakuDeku is actually separate from this. It's a ship built off of abuse. The abuse even persists in their platonic relationship, it would absolutely maintain in a romantic relationship. BakuDeku benefits Bakugou and only Bakugou, not Izuku.

I think Bakugou is so well liked because his gimmick of tough and edgy entices a lot of people. He had a lot of fans before he started to get redeemed. And now with his "great" character development, it justifies a lot of people's love for him.

Hot tub, hot tub, hot tub was all you could hear chanting for the kitchen, it was late in the evening and after a couple of drinks, Mina decided it was time for the part everyone was looking forward to. 

By the time you had changed and came downstairs everyone was in the hot tub. You sat across from Bakugou, right next to Kirishima. 

“Fancy seeing you here.”  Kirishima said to you as he rested his arm on the back of the tub behind you. “Fancy seeing you here too.” You replied and looked around the circle, Midroiyas eyes were locked on yours and he raised his eyebrow hinting to you that he can see something interesting, you shook your head at him. Sero sat on the rim of the hot tub, his legs dangling in the water, Denki was trying to dive under, while Mina was trying her best to stop him. 

“So guys, more importantly y/n, tell us. How's the secret boy you are dating, tell us about him” Mina asked. You shot your eyes to her.

“You’re dating someone y/n?” Bakugou asked. “I wonder who?” Midoriya added.

“Yeah, apparently he’s the best she’s ever had” Mina also added, throwing her head back in laughter. “OMG MINA.” You shouted and laughed, splashing water at her. “Now I must know about him, how comes you never brought him up before.” Kirishima asked and grins. You turned to him, and put your hand on his leg, under the water, moving it closer to his waist. He suddenly stilled, eyes not leaving yours. 

“Best not tell him that pro-hero red riot, was naked in your room then.” Denki said. 

“You know there were rumors about you in the media recently, you were seen kissing a mystery man in the street, some fans believed it was pro-hero Real Steel-.” Sero directed at you and raised his brow. “Is he the one rocking your world y/n.” He laughed 

“Eww, Sero that’s enough, as if she was stoop for someone so lowly like Tetsutetsu, when she could have all this right here.” Kirishima responded and stood out of the water, pulling a muscle man pose. 

“Sit down you nerd, ain't no way ever!. I would let you get with my sister.” Bakugou responded, your heart plummeted, and Kirishima sat down, splashing water all over the place. You looked up, Midoriya watching you. “I don’t know Kacchan, I always believed, since UA. That they would end up together.” He added, turning his body, and resting his head on Bakugou's shoulder. 

“Okay, guys can we stop talking about my sex life, if and when I want to introduce you to this mystery man, who I can confirm is not Tetsutetsu, then you will be the first to know okay.” You looked at your friends, and nod. Hoping it would be the last word on it. 

“Agreed, now we all mentioned sex, let’s go Deku, we will give these bunch of virgins something to complain about,” Bakugou says and stands, the water sloshing all over the place, You freeze staring at the massive scars on his body, the one over his heart, brings flashes of images across your eyes. 

Your breathing quickens, you can see him in your mind, dead on the floor, not moving. People are moving around him, Deku’s charging ahead, blind rage taking over. You step towards your twin, time moves slowly, your eyes locked to his, open with no life in them. You take another step. Your feet touch something and you look down, Bakugou’s AllMight card, bloodied. Screaming, tears leaving your eyes you begin to fall to your knees, but someone catches you, 

“Breathe, y/n, I’m here, Don't look, he’ll be okay, he’s always okay.” The stranger pats your head, trying to get you to breathe and you look at them, it's Kirishima. Both kneeing, facing each other. He rests his forehead on yours, “I’m here, always.” 

Tears stream down your face, and you break out of your memory, as a splosh of water sounded out, as Midoriya exited the jacuzzi. Bakugou stared at you in concern, under the water your nails dug into Kirishima’s leg, he turned to you and wiped the tears from your face.

Sensing the change in atmosphere, Mina kicked Denki under the water. As a signal to say something stupid. “Jesus Bakugou, none of us wanted to know about your sex life, especially with Midoriya.” Denki says in disgust. “Why don’t you come here and I’ll give you a smooch, I know you will not forget at all.” He adds and stands holding his arms out. Bakugou shoots his eyes over to him, and holds his hand out, a faint red glow starts under his skin.

“Yeah, Katsuki, That’s nasty, now you can see why I’m the favourite Bakugou.” You respond, trying to lighten the mood. You undo the pressure on Kirishima’s leg, and slightly rub it as a way to say sorry. To which he secretly rubs his thumb up and down your back. All is forgiven. 

Falling asleep in Kirishima’s arms was the best and most comfiest place to be, he might be huge and incredibly thick but all that muscle equals a perfect pillow. Eye closing and matching Kirishima's breathing pattern, your dreams slowly took over your mind. 

“KATSUKI….. KATSUKI WHERE ARE YOU” You screamed trying to find your twin amongst the battle. Explosions rang out all around you, A villian ran towards you, holding out your palm you let off an explosion very similar to your brothers. “KATSUKI” You scream again, you can see him overhead, charging ahead to land a blow on All for one. 

Kirishima is in the distance, fighting his own battle. With one final punch, the villain is down and he looks to you, raising his arm. 

Another explosion, looking up at the sky you see it. Katsuki is falling, falling very fast to the ground and unmoving. Deku catches him. They are too far from you so you run, you put every energy you have left into your legs. Best jeanist is over your brother, People are moving around him, Deku’s charging ahead. Taking a step forward, time moves slowly, your eyes locked to his, open with no life in them. 

Your feet touch something and you look down, Bakugou’s AllMight card, bloodied. NO NO NO NO NO, You run forward to get to them but you are stuck, stuck in your spot. No no no, I can't be here again, please someone help.  

You try and turn away, but no matter where you look. All you can see is Katsuki’ dead eyes staring at you, “Why didn’t you help me” He speaks to you, holding his hand out. Screaming you try to move away but you can’t

Kirishima held you in his arms, but awoke when he noticed how much you were moving. Sitting up the red head tried to get you to wake. You were burning up, your hands turning red with a faint glow. He shook your shoulder, calling out to you but nothing. He could see the tears rolling down your face, and could hear you mumble Bakugou's name over and over again. 

Thrashing around the bed, Kirishima continued to try and wake you, “Please y/n, I’m here, it's okay, it’s just a nightmare.” He tried again, but it was not working. 

Throwing yourself forward you let out a scream, you hand held out releasing an explosion into the room. Quickly Kirishima hardened his skin and placed himself in front of it, to try and minimize the damage. The bedroom door burst open, Bakugou came running in and stopped, quickly assessing the situation. Kirishima looked behind him and could see all of your friends peeking in at the door. You collapsed in Kirishima's arms and began to sob, and he held you. 

“Kirishima what's going on.” Bakugou says and takes a step closer to the bed. 

“She was having a nightmare about, well, the time you d-e-a-d.”  Kirishima whispered and spelled out the last part, to which Bakugou smacked him on the head. “She can fucking spell dipshite.” 

“I could hear her cries, and came to check on her obviously, ha,ha, that’s why I am here.” He adds. 

“Kat–” You tried to speak, and cry some more, Bakugou replaced Kirishima and held you tightly. 

“I'm here, I’m alive.” Was all he said, and tried to get you to match his breathing. “These haven’t affected you in a while huh?” He said again, trying to get you to look at him. “I’ve got it shitty hair, you head back to your room yeah.” 

“Nah, it’s okay bro, really I can sta-.” Kirishima tries to say, so he can stay in your room and not have to sneak back in later. “Really Eijirou, I’ve got her, sorry for the disturbance.” Bakugou smiled at his friend. 

His head dropping, Kirishima made his way into the hallway to his very vacant room that he had totally been staying in. Noticing what was going on, Midoriya had cleared the hallway of all your friends. Entering his very cold room, he looks back up the hallway to where Midroiya was standing, “You know, we're not stupid.” He says to the red head. Kirishima raises an eyebrow, “What did you say?” 

“Oh nothing.” Midoriya says again and turns on his heels, making his way back to his room.

Turning into the room, it’s very dark and cold. Sitting on the bed, Kirishima rubs his hands over his face and gently pulls at his braid. 

Not knowing how much time had passed, the red hair stands to stretch his aching body when a knock wracks at the door. Quickly opening it wide, hopeful that you were behind it, it's Bakugou. 

Panicked, Kirishima holds the door close to him, bracing his arm on the door frame. Not allowing Bakugou to look in the room that was very much not slept in or lived in, which was vacant on his suitcases and clothes. 

“Oh hey broo.” He smiles, trying to cover up the room. 

“She’s asking for you.” Bakugou says with a smirk. 

“Oh cool, yeah, yeah –” He fakes a yawn. “I’ll see her tomorrow, thanks bro.” 

“Eijrou, you do realise I lived with you after UA, Yeah?” Bakguou asks. 

“Ye-” He tried to reply. 

“So I know what your room normally looks like and what all your crap looks like, and I know how clean my sister is normally.” Bakugou talks again. Kirishima looked everywhere but Bakugou’s eyes. The blonde sighed. 

“I’ve known all along that you two are together.” He admits. Kirishima is frozen, and peers down at the blonde. “What, I, I would never break bro cod-” He tries to speak again, but Bakugou stops him and pulls his very large frame up the hallway. 

“Listen, Don’t start that shit, I’ve known since my wedding, and now please go and take care of my baby sister, you’re the best man for the job okay.” He says and with one final push Kirishima tumbles into your room. “Why do you think Denki gave y/n the biggest room, and biggest bathroom? You’re fucking huge, and why did you think the room you were meant to stay in, is the smallest?” He says again, Kirishima looked at Bakugou.

 “YOU ALL KNOW.” You shout from your bed. “Yes dumbass, you’re both not very secretive about it you know.” Bakugou says from behind Kirishima and makes his way back to his room with Midoriya. 

Looking at you, Kirishima smiles big, and turns to the door. Quickly he pokes his head out. “Hey BRO.” He whispers to Bakugou, who turns around. “Thanks.” He says. Bakugou smirks and shakes his head, closing the door. 

*** At the wedding - bonus **** 

All the hero’s are stood at the side of the dance floor, looking at you and Kirishima slow dancing. 

“So how long do you think they are going to keep it up?” Shinso asks the group. All heads turn to him. “Keep what up?” Midoriya asks, his arm held tightly around Bakugou’s body. “The fact that Y/N and Kirishima are dating? Is that not what we're all looking at?” He says again. 

Bakugou looks at his sister and Kirishima, it was as if he had been given glasses and he could now see what was before him. The way you were looking at each other, the way you both helped each other. It made him feel sick, “Oh hell no-” Bakugou tried to step forward but Denki stopped him. “Hey Katsuki,  please don’t! We can make some killer money off this.” Denki says and pulls the group around into a circle. “They don't know that we all know, so why don’t we let the happy couple believe that they are fooling us and we can place bets as to how long they will play at it.” 

“I don't know Denki, that’s kinda a little bit me-” Mina tries to say but is cut off by Midoriya. “I bet they won’t ever and it’ll be Kacchan that has to tell them.” Bakugou looks down at his husband and smiles. Sero says, “I bet until the Hero gala.” 

“OOOhhhh I bet, until the hero rankings next year.” Jirou adds, “Quickly someone gets a piece of paper and pen.” Urauaka adds. 

You look over at the group, confused as to what is happening, “What do you think they are talking about.” You ask Kirishima. He looks over and spins you in his arms, “I’m not too sure but they are very preoccupied, so I can do this.” Kirishima adds and quickly pulls you close to him and kisses you quickly.

Conclusion

It’s not mind-blowing to have some yuri or shojo influences in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine (or any shonen magazine). I mean, Blue Box is right there. What IS surprising, at least to me, is to see the Akahika rivalry take up so much narrative space. I love seeing girls who fight in a healthy way, and to have it take up space in the story rather than just a one-time thing is so satisfying to witness. I still can't believe the magazine that gave us Goku vs Vegeta, Naruto vs Sasuke, and Deku vs Kacchan now gives us Akane vs Hikaru (and Karashi. As a fun topping), and it feels completely natural with the rest of the Weekly Shonen Jump lineup. Similar to how shojo magazines have changed over time, we can see shonen magazines make changes by releasing a story like Akane-banashi. The fact an important rivalry for the shonen protagonist is informed by shojo and yuri story beats is just one of many ways Akane-banashi leads these changes.

I’ve wanted to make an essay about shojo rivalries for years, but if you had told me in the past that a shonen rivalry would inspire me to finally get it done, I would have told you, “be serious.” I have a love/hate relationship with shonen rivalries. I often find it dissatisfying when the protagonists rival is both most important to the protagonist’s story and most important to the protagonist’s personal life, but at the end, there’s this expectation that the protagonist still needs to adhere to social norms of what is actually supposed to be the most important part of your personal adult life, so now their rivalry can’t carry as much emotional weight as it once did. Honestly, it reminds me of Class S breakups because girls need to “grow up” into “real women.” Akahika, however, will never have that problem because while Hikaru is important to Akane’s STORY, she’s not the most important person in Akane’s life, nor is Akane the most important person in hers. This also means the emotional intensity of the Akahika dynamic is a bit more mellow than the average shonen protagonist rivalry, but I much rather have this so there’s room to watch Akane’s growth. I’m also a slow burn fan, so I could be biased.

In my biggest, most self-indulgent fantasies, Akane-banashi gets fully adapted into an anime and a live action film and Akahika becomes the next big shonen rivalry and the animated adaptation makes their homoerotic moments even more homoerotic and in the story conclusion Akahika run the Arakawa school together like how Issho and Shiguma do but better which basically makes them rakugo wives. Will any of that happen? Who knows! I don’t care. Akahika is already winning.

Addressing Gaps in Analysis

I’m worried I threw around the term “sapphic subtext” a lot without clarifying what that exactly means.

The intention was to convey a distinction between "yuri" as a literary genre and "implicitly sapphic/lesbian relationships" overall, aka sapphic subtext. GL/yuri often has relationships that are almost entirely built on recognizable subtext because certain tropes get popularized. Often times, when I refer to "sapphic subtext," I am specifically referring to the subtext established by the yuri genre itself. However, because yuri also includes explicitly sapphic romantic/sexual relationships, it felt too confusing to just refer to everything remotely sapphic as "yuri." Hence, for the purposes of this essay, when I meant subtext, I said "subtext," and when I mean something explicitly sapphic, I said "yuri." Please know that these definitions are not concrete.

The full extent of the Takarazuka Revue's influence on how gender roles are represented and/or challenged in Japanese pop culture is complex. I want to clear up potential misunderstandings from my use of gendered terminology that may have come from this:

Do not confuse the Takarazuka-inspired girl-prince/girl-princess sapphic dichotomy described in this essay with a butch/femme dynamic. There is obviously overlap, but they are not synonymous with each other. A butch character is not always a bishonen character and vice versa. A femme character is not always a princess-like character and vice versa. I get these differences might seem miniscule, but when trying to do formal literary analysis, I think people should always be weary of applying Western terms to a culturally non-Western phenomenon, even if it usually communicates the same thing in a colloquial context.

"Are you familiar with the term akogare? So, in my research I did come across akogare (one of those nuanced "no direct english translation" words that seems to describe a deep admiration for someone??) to describe the sapphic subtext of retro shojo. Since I cannot with confidence explain what it means nor how the term is typically used, it wasn't mentioned in the analysis.

"Akane-banashi is a shonen manga and yet you barely acknowledged shonen manga history. What gives?" The answer is quite simple. The focus of this essay is not the shonen manga industry. I'm sure someone else would have a lot of fun analyzing Akahika in context of the history of shonen manga, the gender roles in shonen manga, or the impact of shonen manga on pop culture, but that person is not me.

“Why didn’t you talk more bout Glass Mask?” I never read/watched Glass Mask. While I was willing to read MANY things for this, I was not about to start the juggernaut that is Glass Mask just so I could include it in my analysis. I would love to see someone compare Glass Mask with Akane-banashi, though.

"What about Ruka?" This isn’t about him.

"What about Urara and Mayura?" This isn’t about them.

"I have misgivings about [interpretation of a complex aspect of RGU's narrative]?" Part 2 is catered to an audience who is familiar with Akahika, but not RGU, so some things like the rose bride/prince dynamic were dumbed down a bit. If you have RGU questions feel free to send an ask!!!

"Wait, why don't we talk about Act Age?" Short answer: I never read Act Age. Long answer: Act Age was a popular theatre manga published in Weekly Shonen Jump that was discontinued because the author was arrested for sexual harassment towards minors. Given Akane-banashi released approx 2.5 years later, it is possible that the former success of Act-Age influenced Akane-banashi's inception, but this is purely conjecture. I personally consider Act-Age defunct and irrelevant. I only mentioned it in the part 1 footnote because it used to be published in the same magazine as Akane-banashi.

Katsuki has atoned for all of his bullshit. Katsuki has apologized, Katsuki has taken a hit for Deku, Katsuki has stopped calling Izuku Deku despite the fact that everyone calls him that because Izuku reclaimed it and he kept calling him Izuku even after he told him Oh it's fine Kacchan you can stick with Deku if Izuku's too hard, Katsuki has died wondering if he'll ever be able to catch up to him. Katsuki knows what he did was bad, he acknowledges it clearly and works to be forgiven. If your problem is with the fact that Izuku forgives him, then I'm so sorry, but that's just how Izuku is. The only person Izuku hasn't forgiven is Tomura, because he hurt his loved ones so badly.

Again, you're entitled to your own opinion, if you don't like the way Katsuki's character development was handled that's fine, if you don't like that Deku forgives Katsuki easily that's fine, if you don't like that Izuku loses his quirk but Katsuki only gets one arm fucked up almost beyond repair that's fine. There's a lot of people who don't like the new chapter, I am not one of them.

It is terrible etiquette to go into the replies of a piece of art or an edit that is not asking for opinions on a new chapter and just... give your opinions randomly. Especially when those opinions are clearly opposite to the one who posted - the bare minimum would have been to go into my inbox and send me an ask. This post was not made for this. Writing Redemption in Your Fanfics

If you’ve followed either of my blogs, you’d know that I despise Katsuki’s “redemption story”. It’s poorly written and poorly paced.

Sadly, canon isn’t the only place where an attempt at a redemption story is botched. Fanfiction sometimes has equally worse takes on how his redemption story should go.

I wanna talk about one fic in particular. I’m not going to name it, but y’all can probably guess what fanfic I’m talking about because it’s a very famous one.

The fic has one of the most promising starts to a “Katsuki faces consequences” fic: Izuku decides to abandon Katsuki during the Final Exam, and after his teachers show disappointment in him, he snaps, tells them how they’ve failed him, and calls Katsuki a villain. Izuku mentions how he wants to leave U.A, Nezu asks for a second chance, and Izuku accepts.

Sadly, the ball’s immediately dropped upon reaching the second chapter. Katsuki received no consequences other than counseling (which again isn’t a consequence) and without any buildup they have him apologize to Izuku. Furthermore, they start shifting the blame away from Katsuki to his mother for “abusing him”. This I’m shaky about. On one hand, exploring why someone is the way they are can make for some great character writing. On the other hand, the way it’s done here is that it completely changes one character to make the other look better. I’m all for changing a character’s backstory but these fics try to be character studies and when you’re doing a character study you can’t suddenly change one character to make another look sympathetic. Finally, the fic villainizes any character who doesn’t immediately forgive Katsuki. The main example here is Ochako who refuses to let Katsuki anywhere near Izuku. This right here bothers me. Just because Katsuki’s reforming doesn’t mean anyone’s obligated to give him a chance, especially when they’re an abuser of Katsuki’s caliber. You can recognize someone is changing/has changed while also not forgiving them. Demonizing Ochako for not forgiving Katsuki and for protecting her friend sends a terrible message to readers. No one is obligated to forgive Katsuki.

Now I wanna turn my attention to a fic called Confession by Scandinavian Sensation over on Fanfiction.net. If there’s any fic that shows a good Katsuki redemption it’s this one. It starts off with some of 1-A witnessing Izuku having nightmares during a sleepover. Soon after, due to Izuku mumbling in his sleep, they learn Katsuki bullied Izuku. The consequences are swift with the entire class shunning him. Katsuki’s forced to go to counseling, but it’s not treated as a punishment. It is a requirement for him to stay in the Hero Course, but a requirement is different than a punishment. Izuku’s confused as to why no one’s hanging out with Katsuki and feels bad about it. He tries getting Ejiro to go back to being Katsuki’s friend, but Ejiro hits him with a fantastic question: “why did he do it?” As this is going on, Katsuki’s being forced to confront his ego, temper, and past actions while also asking himself the question “why did he do it?” The fic ends with a beautiful rewrite of Kacchan vs Deku 2, where Katsuki desperately tries grappling with the question, is consumed by guilt, and tries to apologize to Izuku. Unlike the first fic, this one doesn’t involve demonizing other characters to make Katsuki look sympathetic, especially since it treats 1-A shunning Katsuki as something they’re allowed to do. This fic dishes out great consequences for his behavior and treats therapy as a means of him coming to terms with his own actions. Finally, it deconstructs Katsuki’s and Izuku’s characters while offering comfort to Izuku and opening the way to a possible redemption arc for Katsuki that feels organic and earned. It’s a fic I can honestly say that both Katsuki fans and haters can enjoy and it’s imo the best case study of Katsuki out that that maintains a neutral tone. If you wanna read the fic, here it is:

In conclusion, if you’re going to write a Katsuki redemption arc, you have to have consequences, you can’t demonize other characters to make him look better (especially when they don’t wanna give him a second chance), and you can’t make excuses for Katsuki’s behavior.

Thanks for answering and I'm sorry for being rude because I really was rude, it's just that since all this leaks stuff blew up I've been coming across more and more posts about Midoriya being a loser, useless, etc because he said no to Bakugou, some even saying that Bakugou should take off his suit, the same suit that is a collaboration with the entire Class 1A. So yeah, seeing posts talking about apologies as if Izuku owed him something had me on edge and I rudely wrote on your blog.
