(i had originally done this for a chapter marker in a good omens fic i was writing, but i wound up changing the plot premise quite a bit so this particular image is no longer relevant.)

...but nothing happened

not that anyone has been asking but i got one (1) note on an old post recently and felt really guilty that i disappeared on folks without explanation so here’s what happened

so about a year ago i was really struggling to make ends meet, which you might have seen if you follow my art blog, @kamidoodles​. february of last year, a friend of mine approached me with a job opportunity with the company they were employed with, and i wound up getting the job. it started out as a very part time gig, really, maybe 10-12 hours a month; but eventually i started taking on more and more responsibilities and it has essentially become a full time job (even though i’m still technically part time under contract, there’s just not guaranteed full time hours constantly. but there’s a lot of work).

in any case, i’ve been super busy and that combined w/ my struggles with fibromyalgia has made it difficult for me to draw.

so what’s going on now?

i’m working, and also looking for full time opportunities so i can get some sweet sweet perks like health insurance and a 401(K). also i’m moving soon.

what does that mean for this blog?

to be honest I don’t know. I’d love to continue this when I can, I just don’t know when that will be. if you’re interested in my occasional doodles, have a follow of @kamidoodles or otherwise follow me on @kamibanani for cats, memes, league of legends, and updates on my personal life

26 march 2024 // a coloured version of these chess AU concepts for morg and kayle. i really wanted to play with the light/dark themes between the two. what if it was kayle that was the 'dark' one of the sisters?

25 march 2024 // my own take on a tarot-themed skin, ft. sett as the chariot. the reason i chose sett for this (and not a more obvious horse motif like rell) is because of what sett's backstory is; like the horses pulling the chariot in opposite ways (his ties to ionia and his mother, and his desire to find his father and beat the shit out of his dad), he moulds everything around him to follow his desires and goals.

i put the horses as part of that little fluffy thing he wears, and the 'wheels' of the chariot as decorations on the hem of his overcoat.

from biddy tarot: The Chariot Tarot card shows a brave warrior standing inside a chariot. He wears armor decorated with crescent moons (representing what is coming into being), a tunic with a square (the strength of will) and other alchemical symbols (spiritual transformation). The laurel and star crown signals victory, success and spiritual evolution. Although he appears to be driving the chariot, the charioteer holds no reins – just a wand like The Magician’s – symbolizing that he controls through the strength of his will and mind. The charioteer stands tall – there’s no sitting down for this guy, as he’s all about taking action and moving forward. Above his head is a canopy of six-pointed stars, suggesting his connection to the celestial world and the Divine will. In front of the vehicle sit a black and a white sphinx, representing duality, positive and negative and, at times, opposing forces. Note how the sphinxes are pulling in opposite directions, but the charioteer uses his willpower and sheer resolve to steer the chariot forward in the direction he wants.

14 May 2024 // just a little fun "what if" fanart, here: what if Yorick's religious order survived to the present-day and made it a point to join up with the Sentinels of Light to fight the Ruination and the return of Viego and give peace to the souls that were lost? Just a little imagining on what that Yorick might have looked like, and how to incorporate a bit more of a stately look to his outfit without losing that classing Yorick silhouette.

15 march 2024 // i've been thinking a lot about this old oc of mine lately, she started out as basically a character fusion between honda tohru from fruits basket + himura kenshin from rurouni kenshin + seta soujirou ... not very creative, i know x) but she's evolved into something else over the years and i wanted to colour this old piece to see if i can get the mojo for this going again.

17 march 2024 // sometimes i do forum / web design too. this is for ruins of murkhill, a fan forum dedicated to the OG D&D TTRPG, and other old-school systems. the design isn't finished yet due to RL issues, but i really like how the home page design turned out.
