“Alexander Hamilton” from last night’s re-opening night after 18 months. I’ve seen Hamilton West End half a dozen times and I’ve never experienced such a high energy performance from both audience and performers. It was incredible. Everyone was so emotional and it was amazing! Everyone lost it when Simon-Anthony and Karl came onstage to the point that they both broke character and it was great to see.

sure ok:

valjean: i think it’ll be a well known theatre name. i noticed cedric neal has left back to the future which is Interesting. no idea what he’s like with more traditional musical theatre but it’s definitely within his range, he’s about the right age and he’s becoming a fairly big theatre name atm.

javert: now this im genuinely stumped by. there is a lack of baritones amongst the big west end names atm. it will have to be someone more established tho bc of the age requirement (30 plus) it could also be a familiar face returning? idk honestly.

marius: i honestly really think it’s gonna be rhys whitfield. if not they’ll probably go for some random 18 year old plucked out of nowhere again.

cosette & eponine: both recent mountview grads, maybe arts ed.

enjolras: i could see jordan wanting to stay tbh…if not rhys could also do this role or maybe someone from another cammack show like karl queensborough.

fantine: i think they’ll go for a bigger name again with this. not sure who though….will need to have a think.

thenardier: i see gavin lee is leaving beauty and the beast early. wonder if he’s finally gonna get a west end run as thenardier 👀

madame thenardier: no clue honestly.

other predictions:

joseph anthony will stay and become first cover enj.

chris jacobsen will stay and become alternate valjean again.

natalie green will stay but get moved to a different track.

Hamilton London Observations

08/21/21

Once again, not in order and there’s so much im leaving out bc I have a terrible memory

- Eliza’s hair was not tied back during act two, it was in the same style the whole time. Most of the men had much shorter hair so it wasn’t tied up or back, instead some had their hair in braids then it was let down in act two

- Khalid (Philip/John) was much shorter and smaller than everyone else, so he was more convincing as Philip in act two

- Sharon (Eliza) was so cute, her voice was very soft for most of the parts and it sounded almost shy at the beginning of some songs, but her voice gained more strength later on

- Instead of “Wehawken, dawn, guns drawn” it was “Jersey, dawn, Guns drawn”

- Jefferson would wipe his hands every time someone shook his hand during “What’d I miss?”

- As always, Eliza’s scream during “Stay alive Reprise” was heartbreaking

- King George’s actor sounded similar to Jonathan

- Emilie (Peggy/Maria) was gorgeous, her voice was so passionate and you could hear the pain in her voice in “Say no to This”

- You could feel the vibrations in the ground whenever the canons went off
