Nikhil Siddharth starrer 'Kartikeya-2' directed by Chandu Mondeti is creating records with huge collections. Released on August 13, this movie collected more than one crore rupees share for ten consecutive days in Telugu states irrespective of weekend and week days. Today (Day 11) is likely to continue the same momentum.

This film, which has brought more than Rs.25 crores to the buyers within ten days, is among the top-5 highest grossing Tollywood medium range films. Soon this movie is going to cross 'Jatiratnalu' (27.52 crores profit), 'Fidaa' (30.50 crores profit) and Uppena (31.02 crores profit) to the top-2. The first place is 'Geetha Govindam' with a profit of 55.43 crores.

Karthikeya 2 (2022) Directed by Chandoo Mondeti It's hard to believe the first "Karthikeya" movie was released all the way back in 2014 and @avinashseye and myself had watched it in the theatre then. I don't remember the details of the movie now, should rewatch it, but I liked it (with the heroic lead character being named Karthik, how could I not). The sequel has the character Karthik going to Dwaraka and several other places in India in pursuit of an artifact belonging to Lord Krishna. I felt the movie was a bit overlong and a bit heavy handed in the way it approached the spiritual elments, but I enjoyed it overall. As per Wikipedia the budget was just ₹15-30 cr, and it's surprising what they achieved, the movie has an epic scope with great visuals (cinematographer Karthik Gattamneni) and looks much more expensive. This reminded me of two things — an Indiana Jones adventure and a Tintin book. Imagine these two titles — "Indiana Jones and the Lost Treasure of Krishna", or "Tintin and the Lost Artifacts". I drew Anupama Parameswaran as Mugdha from the movie, this is done with 0.5 mm 4B mechanical pencil on A5 Brustro sketchbook. You can swipe to see a scan. He likes to question, he likes to find answers. Under some strange circumstances, Karthikeya visits Dwaraka, Krishna Temple. Krishna’s anklet goes missing and Karthikeya wants to find answers to that. How will things turn up after is the story? Performances: Nikhil perfectly suits the role of Karthikeya. He has given his best. More on the heroism, Nikhil and his team depended on the content and that is evident in the narration, Anupama Parameswaran gels well with the story. She has got a lengthy character and she did justice. Anupam Kher is decent in the limited role. Srinivasa Reddy and Viva Harsha evoked a few laughs. The others are fine with their characters. Technicalities: Music is one of the plus points of this movie. Kaala Bhairava did a fantastic job with the BGM. His songs are just OK. Karthik Ghattamaneni is the editor and cinematographer for the movie. He is good. The production values for this limited-budget flick are superb. Coming to Chandoo Mondeti, he has done lots of research on Lord Krishna and the point itself is interesting. He takes his time to make the audience glue with the proceedings. He approached slow narration. It feels rushed at times. But he made sure audiences are connected to the narration. Analysis: Karthikeya 2 looks like an upgrade of Karthikeya. Though there is no similarity, it is a conscious effort from the team to stick to the movie plot no matter what. Chandoo Mondeti has done a fab job with the narration.
