Trip to Taiwan, April 2024 - Day 2: KAVALAN Whiskey Tasting

After the distillery tour, whiskey tasting and souvenir purchase.

蒸溜所見学後のお楽しみ！ウイスキーテイスティングとお土産購入。

蒸溜所の隣に立っている「酒堡 Sprit Castle」には、有料試飲のバーとギフトショップがあります。蒸溜所見学のあとはこちら！

▼有料試飲スペースはめちゃくちゃ広いので、大量のお客さんが来てもダイジョウブw

複数の樽をブレンドしたウイスキーはNTD100（約500円）/ 10ml、1つの樽からのウイスキーはNTD200（約1000円）/10ml。全部で4種類が飲めます。

「せっかくだから全部でしょ！」ということで、4種全部を注文。NTD600（約3,000円）ですが、2人で分けるので十分です。

4種類それぞれ、ものすごく個性がある...！

果実みのあるフルーティーなもの、ナッツのようなもの、チョコレートやバニラのようなもの、、、こうやって蒸溜所で比較試飲しないと個性って分からないものですね。とっても勉強になった！

▼バーカウンターには他の種類も並んでいたので、団体ツアーとかでは他のも飲めたりする企画とかもあるのかも。

そしてギフトショップコーナーへ！

こちらは大きいボトルの販売エリア。 「酒堡獨家販售」というラベルが買いてある、蒸溜所のショップ限定のものは「Madeira Cask Single Cask Strength Single Malt Whiskey」という希少なもの。シングルカスク=1つの樽から詰められたもの、です。

▲NTD1,600 / 300ml、日本円で約8,000円なので買えなくはないのですが、ウイスキー飲まない私のお家に、高いウイスキーがあっても困るのでここはスキップ。

こちらは、50mlサイズのチューブに入ったものが並んでいるスペース。1種類NTD150〜290くらいなので比較的買いやすい！ ということで、試飲して美味しかった、 ・Single Malt Whiskey Podium 46% 50ml ・Single Malt Whiskey WINE OAK 54% 50ml を購入。

また、KAVALAN蒸溜所を持っている会社「金車」は、台湾最大手の飲料メーカーで、ビールブランド「柏克金 Buckskin」というのもつくっています。

これも売ってたので、Buckskinの ・Tropical Lager ・Peak IPA ・Coast IPA を購入。楽しみ〜！

ギフトショップの前にあるアイスクリームやさんで、ウイスキーアイスとビールアイスをいただいてツアー終了。

やっぱりお酒の工場見学は楽しい〜！ブランドへの愛着度も上がるし、新しいこと勉強できるのはいいなあ。行って良かったです！

帰国してから「まあ、台湾の大手だしねえ」とあまり期待せずにTropical Lagerを飲んだのですが、予想を大きく裏切る美味しさ！これめちゃくちゃ美味しい〜！夏にガブガブ飲むのに最高のトロピカルなテイスト❤️

Hey guys. How's it going? So I have another stunner for you this Friday. It's the King Car Whisky from Kavalan 🇹🇼🥃🙂. . Here is my review: . Nose: Very fruity with tropical fruits like papaya, mango, guava, pineapple and overripe bananas. Sherry, raisin and dark fruits. Lemon, orange, caramel, vanilla and woody sweetness. . Palate: Honeyed, caramel and vanilla almond. Bourbon barrel char vanilla sweetness with tropical fruits but less prominent. Lemon wood spices and black pepper. Mouthwatering and a bit oily but pleasant. Adding a drop of water Finish: Medium. The tropical fruit again, but more dry and dry sherry. A hint of nuts and soft wood spice. . This is definitely a great whisky from Kavalan, certainly better than the base offering but not quite up to par when compared to the Solist line. Highly recommended 🙂. .
