Well you’ve changed a bit. You were black-and-white in high school, but now you’re more colorful. You think so?

Don't you usually go to work with Jeongwon? He had to go in early for an emergency surgery. I'm going to buy him coffee. Are you guys married, or what? You're so good to him.

I wish Marry My Husband was on Viki instead of Amazon Prime. Can you imagine the live comments features? I could learn how to say "the AUDACITY of this bitch" in six different languages, and Mr. Yu in the shower could probably secure world peace.

See You in My 19th Life had me fully invested, even though i'm not big on romance, probably because it's so soft and sincere and thoughtful. it's a collection of love stories woven together throughout nineteen lives. it's one love story spanning a thousand years. it's so many kinds of love that can be found even in one life: Aegyong making Jieum her family, Jieum forming a sisterly bond with Chowon, Seoha and Doyoon's brotherhood, Chowon and Doyoon cutely and tentatively pining for each other, and of course the quietly passionate love between Jieum and Seoha.
See You in My 19th Life, at its core, is a story about love: loving people and loving life so intensely you leave no room for hatred, rage, or spite. there's no unnecessary drama. the show's not perfect: there are a couple of loose ends in the plot, but still, it's enjoyable and it made my weekends. oh, and the music is also top-tier 🥰

Love for Love's Sake | Things you didn't notice (probably)
Finally, I am watching a good K-BL and can enjoy multi-layered meanings within language, culture and translated subs altogether (unlike with Thai series where I need to learn a new language again xD)
So I'll be pointing out some fun things that I noticed for fellow foreign viewers =) Beware of a long post!
Disclaimer: I'm not fluent in Korean, but I've been learning and using it for years + lived and studied in Korea for a while so I'm offering my perspective and knowledge but it might not be the Ultimate Truth
Episode 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
«I prefer lonely supporting characters instead of happy protagonists. Cha Yeowoon is still unhappy. ... - Where are you going? - To see my main (최애). I mean, Cha Yeowoon.»
The word Tae Myungha used to described Cha Yeowoon, as I heard, was actually 최애 (choe-ae). It's a slang that can be translated as "my favourite" and typically is used for K-pop group members, meaning "my bias" (think One True Pairing but One True Person instead). Then, as his fellow classmate gets confused, hearing such word referring to a popular student in their school, Tae Myungha changes to "I mean, Cha Yeowoon", and it works because the word and the name sound similar.
Myungha uses this word because in the intro he stated that Yeowoon is his favourite character in the book out of all. So basically, his first reaction was "- Where are you going? - I'm gonna run to find my blorbo<3", which is so admirable. I'd also get obsessed with making happy my fav side character that was treated unfairly by creators :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
«Kids like chocolate, right? ... (Yeowoon grabs an icecream, Myungha grabs the same, adding with surprise:) Didn't see that coming. Bi-Bi-Big (비비빅)? You eat like an old man.»
What surprised Myungha there? That Yeowoon chose this icecream->
Tumblr media
It's a traditional icecream that is made out of red beans. This taste is usually associated with older people (because typically kids like sweet things and older people like less sweet/bland tastes), also red beans or read bean paste is used in many traditional desserts in Korea. Yeah, who would've thought that a high schooler would choose this icecream out of all options?
Tumblr media
Later, Myungha gets the message "You can compare Bi-Bi-Big to big Ba-Bum-Bar (another icecream with "old man taste" from chestnuts), why the hell would you eat it?" and gets confused as the message seems missent. I am confused as well, because Myungha wasn't the one choosing this icecream and Yeowoon wasn't typing in his phone. Considering that the phone number is unknown, I can guess that it might be a commentary from the book's author who's watching Myungha playing his story game? Let's figure it out in the next episodes!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
«- You eat like an old man. - Do you play sports? - No. - Weird. You're a whiner like I've always heard. - Kids these days have no manners.»
My quick translation->
«- You eat like an old man. - Sunbae, do you play sports? - No. - Strange. You sound like one of those older jerks (꼰대). - Kids these days have no manners.»
More on the differences between Tae Myungha and Cha Yeowoon:
Myungha tried to poke Yeowoon about his "old man tastes", and Yeowoon called him out for his conservative/stereotypical thinking.
Yeowoon keeps calling Myungha sunbae (because he knows MH's a senior in their school so he must be polite), and Myungha REALLY TALKS LIKE AN OLD MAN to him ("Kids these days" in the subs does translate this style of speech correctly! I'm glad). We all know he's much older before he was thrown into high school times (~25-30yo?), but his words and intonations really make you feel like he's 50-60yo or something xD
Yeowoon doesn't like this at all, though, so he calls Myungha a sort of derogatory term 꼰대 (kkondae), which is used to described old conservative people who are set in their ways and keep nagging and scolding young people for not behaving properly. And, as a runner, he implies that there are senior sportsmen that are hazing or nagging younger sportsmen like this as well, that's who Myungha reminds him of. No wonder the affection stats fell down in the minus zone so hard!
There you go, guys, these are my comments on the first episode of Love for Love's sake! It is filmed so well, I like the idea, and I really enjoyed it (if this one gets really popular just like Semantic Error, we might get more BLs about gamers or gamedevs and I WILL LOVE IT I am so here for it, hehe)
Stay tuned for more as I watch next episodes :]

While waiting for new episode of Mary My Husband I've started with Perfect Marriage Revenge and I gotta say I love it so much. I'm at episode 6 rn.
It gives me the 90s-00s latin-american telenovela vibes in the best way possible. They embraced all the tropes and cliches of the genre and did the absolute maximum with it in the best way possible. Stuff like that are just not made these days and maybe that's the reason why I love it so much.
I've seen mentioned how low budget production it is but I gotta say that I can't really tell. And if they're able to keep up this work with low budget then the crew deserves applause because they're doing perfect job.
The cast is absolutely awesome and they all embraced their characters. Special shout-out to Lee Min-Young as the evil stepmother Lee Jung-Hye, who clearly put her everything into that role and did a great job. What a dedication! Cinderella's stepmother appears as a kind loving lady compared to her.
The main couple have great chemistry and they look great together. Plus points for Sung Hoon (as Seo Do-guk) 's sad puppy eyes whenever Jung Yoo-min (as Han Yi-joo) shut herself off when they have a moment together.
So overall I love it and I can't praise it and recommend it enough.
Only negative thing is the fashion choices of the ML. That's probably tied to the low budget, someone mentioned how they clearly used the money for the actresses' wardrobe and they had nothing left for the male counterparts. Which may be actually true.... I mean we could argue that loose and baggy clothes could be called trendy these days but it just didn't do Sung Hoon any good. The tops were alright sometimes great even but the bottoms.... Even if he wore slim fitted or at least regular trousers it would elevate the look so much. Loose top and slim fit bottom could work really well so I'm really sad for all the baggy trousers lol...
Also the first episode was dragging a bit but it was all worth it and important for the rest.
If you consider watching it I'm saying definitely go for it!!!

tomorrow finale
ngl when they said he’d be demoted for six months, I kept hoping for the scene where he’d be the new RMT member to replace choi joon-woong. can you imagine?? ryeon AND ryung-gu as his superiors?? we were robbed!
honestly though the finale was practically wish fulfillment. he finally realizes why ryeon affected him so deeply all this time. the both of them have reverted to their flirting, pre-teen, full-on heart-eyes days and I honestly pity ryung-gu who has to suffer fifty years of this alone.
I keep thinking of ryeon just pushing him to reincarnate so he can be happy and move on, but he’d be like lolnope, and just dropping by all casual-like thinking he’s being all suave and wooing ryeon again. he’s already doing it! mentioning that he’d casually murder someone just so his wifey’s workload is lessened. did you hear his, ‘are you sure? just say the word, and you can have a new member again.’ no matter how well-adjusted he seems, his cat-gifting-his-master-a-corpse tendencies still haven’t changed. again I reiterate, poor ryung-gu. he has to suffer this all by himself for fifty more years.
we know both ryeon and ryung-gu will never reincarnate and manage the rmt team forever. you mean to tell me, joong-gil who didn’t even want to reincarnate when he only had intense feelings of hateloveconfusion towards ryeon, would choose to reincarnate NOW after reuniting with the love of his life (and death)?? ha, fat chance ryeon! If ryung-gu could choose not to reincarnate to be with his mother forever even if she broke their threads herself, then who’s to say that option isn’t available to joong-gil so he can stay with ryeon forever (another parallel between ryung-gu and joong-gil actually)?
This is basically the Jade Emperor’s way of subverting the red string of fate for the both of them. She wouldn’t have done anything if only Joong-gil didn’t love Ryeon THAT much that two reincarnations couldn’t make him move on. In other words, no matter how much he reincarnates, he could never forget those feelings. Ultimately it’s up to the both of their choices as to how they’ll proceed with their love from hereon out. I actually really loved it as a subversion of the red thread of fate trope.
And with Joon-woong and Choi-hui tied together, it means Ryeon will be reunited with two more people she loves upon their death. It shows a hopeful interpretation of passing on overall.
And as always, Joon-woong remains the goodest boi.
Basically they crossed over from tragic Romeo and Juliet love to workplace, married life, rom-com shenanigans. I am here for the genre shifts. I would watch an entire season two of their workplace dynamic once Joon-woong and Choi-hui enter Jumadeung. The three of them would dote so much on Ryeon, and Joong-gil would be happy to know his wife is taken care of during work hours. Meanwhile, the rest of the Senior Directors would be so flabbergasted and confused trying to find out when their Escort Team Leader became such a simp for the RMT leader.
