The rain started the moment Iseul reached the JYPE building, like the sky itself was protesting her arrival.
Heavy droplets splattered against the pavement, soaking the edges of her sneakers as she hesitated at the entrance. The storm smelled like wet concrete and exhaustion, and for a brief second, she wondered if she should just turn around and run home.
But she didn’t.
She couldn’t.
Because she wasn’t just Iseul — mere trainee anymore. She was Iseul of Stray Kids now.
A name that didn’t feel like hers.
She wiped her damp hands on her jeans and stepped inside.
The warmth of the building was suffocating, the fluorescent lights too bright after the gloom outside. Every step toward the practice room felt heavier, like she was dragging the storm inside with her.
By the time she slipped through the door, the boys were already sprawled out in various states of exhaustion, waiting for the recording session to start.
“Hey,” Chan greeted her with a tired smile, his dimples barely peeking through. “You ready?”
No.
But she nodded anyway.
Iseul’s pulse hammered against her ribs as she clutched the headphones, her fingers trembling slightly as she adjusted them. The glass window separated her from the others, but she could feel their presence like a weight on her chest.
“Alright, Iseul,” Chan’s voice crackled through the headphones, gentle but firm. “Let’s start with your part in Levanter. Just follow the guide vocal.”
The first run-through was stiff, mechanical.
She sang her lines carefully, meticulously sticking to the guide track, terrified of messing up. The words felt too big in her mouth, like she hadn’t earned them.
By the third take, the atmosphere grew heavier.
“Iseul,” Chan said carefully through the mic, rubbing his forehead. “Try to relax. You’re doing fine.”
She nodded, swallowing the lump in her throat. They went through the chorus again, and without thinking, she instinctively added a subtle riff on the last note — her voice lifting just slightly, an embellishment that wasn’t in the original.
Everyone froze.
The music faded, and Han’s voice crackled through the intercom almost immediately.
“What was that?” he asked, voice sharp enough to slice through her chest.
“I—I’m sorry,” she stammered, throat tightening. “I didn’t mean to change it. I’ll sing it properly.”
“Just sing it again,” Han repeated, eyes narrowing.
Iseul, now painfully aware of all the attention on her, sang the line again, deliberately keeping it flat, stripping away the instinctive flourish. It sounded fine. Clean. Completely forgettable.
Han frowned, tapping his pencil against the console.
“No, the first way was better,” Changbin muttered, still staring at his phone like he hadn’t just shattered the silence.
Hyunjin scoffed quietly, shaking his head. “We don’t need her to change the song,” he muttered, voice low but cutting through the air like a blade.
“She was just trying something,” Felix said, rubbing his arm.
Han frowned. “But it’s not what we recorded.”
“It doesn’t have to be identical,” Minho reasoned, his voice careful but firm. “We’re re-recording anyway.”
Han slumped back into his chair, rubbing his face with both hands. “Hyung, we wrote these songs with Woojin,” he muttered. “Changing the vocals like that — it feels weird.”
Weird.
Iseul squeezed her eyes shut. The word echoed like a hammer against her skull.
Of course it felt weird. She was the weird piece shoved into their puzzle — the outsider trying to fill a space that wasn’t hers.
Iseul bowed her head, fingers curling around the hem of her hoodie. She bit her lip hard enough to hurt.
“Iseul, can you try the line again?” he asked, voice gentle. “The way you sang it before?”
Her stomach twisted.
She didn’t want to do it again. She didn’t want to change anything.
But she didn’t want to argue either.
Iseul sang the part again, but this time, she dulled her voice. Flattened the run. She made herself smaller, tried to disappear into the track.
When she finished, silence settled like a weight over the room.
“It... sounds fine,” Han finally muttered, crossing his arms tightly over his chest.
“Fine,” Changbin echoed, though the crease between his brows deepened. “But I swear it sounded better the first time.”
Felix nodded, brows furrowed. “It had more emotion.”
Chan leaned forward, elbows on his knees. “Iseul, I think you should do the run,” he said, his voice carrying that leader-like authority no one dared to question.
Iseul’s chest caved in on itself. “I don’t want to mess up the song,” she whispered, barely loud enough for the mic to catch.
“You’re not messing it up,” Chan reassured her. “Music evolves. If the run adds something to the track, we should keep it.”
Han stayed quiet, jaw tight as he stared at the floor.
Iseul chewed on her bottom lip.
But she sang the run again anyway, the guilt sticking to her throat like honey.
The session continued, but the room felt heavier with every take.
Iseul kept singing, feeling like she was unraveling with each note.
She didn’t deserve this song.
Didn’t deserve this group.
Didn’t deserve to change something that had once belonged to someone else.
By the time they finished, her lungs felt waterlogged, like she’d already drowned in the weight of it all.
Tumblr media
The last echoes of the song faded into silence, leaving the air in the studio thick and heavy. No one spoke. The hum of the equipment filled the void like static, a constant reminder of how much work was left to do.
“Okay, we’ll wrap for today,” Chan said, rubbing his face with both hands. He pushed his chair back and stretched, bones cracking. “Good job, everyone.”
Good job. Iseul swallowed hard.
Felix slumped against the wall, head tilted back. Changbin shoved his lyric sheet into his bag without folding it. Hyunjin pulled his hoodie over his head, eyes fixed on the floor. No one looked at her.
They filed out of the room one by one, slipping into their shoes with quiet exhaustion.
Chan lingered by the door, fishing an umbrella out of the stand. Rain hammered against the glass windows, streaking the cityscape in gray smears of light. He turned back to Iseul, who was still sitting in the chair, clutching her backpack like a lifeline.
“It’s pouring,” he said gently, holding the umbrella out. “Take this.”
Iseul flinched at his kindness.
“I’m okay,” she said quickly, forcing a thin smile. “My mom’s coming to get me.”
Chan hesitated, eyes scanning her face like he could see right through her lie. But he nodded, lowering the umbrella to his side.
“Okay. Get home safe.”
“Yeah,” she lied, bowing quickly. “Thank you for today. Get home safe.”
The boys filtered out of the studio, their voices fading as they disappeared down the hallway. The door clicked shut behind them, and the silence pressed down like a weight.
Iseul sat there, staring at her reflection in the black screen of the console. The dim glow of the studio lights hollowed out her face, making her look like a stranger.
She waited ten minutes to be sure they were gone. Then she stepped outside.
Tumblr media
The rain didn’t let up.
Iseul trudged through the downpour, her sneakers soaked through, squelching against the pavement with each step. Her hoodie clung to her skin, hair plastered to her forehead, and her limbs ached from exhaustion.
The streetlights blurred through the curtain of rain, flickering like distant stars, but she didn’t bother wiping her face. She wasn’t sure if the wetness dripping down her cheeks was rain or tears, and she didn’t want to know.
That’s not how we recorded it. Changing the vocals like that — it feels weird. We don’t need her to change the song,
Her chest caved as she remembered the way he’d looked away, like she’d tainted something sacred just by being there.
She blinked, rainwater streaming down her face, mingling with the hot sting in her eyes. The streetlights blurred into hazy smudges, casting shadows on the wet pavement.
They had to re-record the entire album because of her.
Because Woojin left.
Because she was a replacement.
She was an intruder. A placeholder. A leech.
She didn’t even deserve the umbrella Chan had offered her before he left.
Iseul didn’t know how long she walked, but her fingers were numb by the time she reached her apartment complex. She fumbled with the keypad, her hands trembling as she punched in the code. The door beeped, and she pushed it open, trudging up the stairs, water dripping from her clothes and leaving a trail behind her like breadcrumbs.
When she unlocked the front door, she nearly jumped out of her skin.
“Iseul?”
Her mother was standing in the living room, arms crossed, face drawn with worry. She still wore her store apron, her name tag hanging askew, and her hair was hastily tied back. The TV hummed quietly in the background, casting dim light across the room.
Iseul froze in the doorway, blinking rapidly. “Mom? Why are you home?”
Her mother’s eyes widened, taking in her drenched figure. “Why am I home? What are you doing looking like that?” She rushed over, grabbing Iseul’s arm and tugging her inside. “You’re soaked! You’ll catch pneumonia!”
“I’m fine,” Iseul whispered, her voice hoarse.
“You are not fine.” Her mom pulled her into the bathroom, grabbing a towel and wrapping it around her shoulders. “Go change out of those clothes, now. I’ll heat up some soup.”
Iseul wanted to protest, but her body was too heavy, her chest too full of ache. She stripped out of her wet clothes in silence, slipping into a dry sweater and sweatpants before padding back into the living room. The smell of instant ramen filled the air, steam curling up from the pot on the stove.
Her mother sat her down at the table, placing the ramen in front of her. “Eat,” she ordered gently, brushing Iseul’s damp hair back from her face.
Iseul didn’t realize how hungry she was until the first bite burned her tongue. She ate quietly, her mom watching her the whole time, eyes dark with concern.
She didn’t say anything for a long time. Didn’t push, didn’t prod. Just sat there, her sharp gaze softened with concern.
That made it worse.
Iseul could handle yelling. Could handle scolding. She’d braced herself for it — expected her mom to be furious that she’d walked home in the storm, furious that she hadn’t called, furious that she’d lied about her ride.
But the quiet worry? The patience? The love?
It cracked something in her chest.
When the bowl was empty, her mom finally spoke. “What happened?”
Iseul stared at her hands, fingers curling into the fabric of her sweatpants. She should’ve lied. Should’ve made up something simple — blamed the rain, said she was caught up in training. But she was too tired to spin a story, and the words spilled out before she could stop them.
“I debuting,” she whispered.
Her mom blinked. “What?”
“I debuting,” Iseul repeated, voice trembling. “I will be a part of Stray Kids now. We are already recording the album.”
Her mom’s brow furrowed. “The boy group?”
Iseul nodded.
Her mom sat back in her chair, rubbing her temples. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I... I didn’t know it was happening.” Iseul’s throat tightened. “They told me a week ago. I didn’t want to bother you — the store’s been so busy and—”
Her mom’s voice rose. “You didn’t want to bother me? Iseul, this isn’t something small! You signed a contract, didn’t you? Without talking to me?”
Iseul flinched. “I didn’t have a choice.”
“There’s always a choice.” Her mom’s voice wavered. “I know how much you wanted this, but I should’ve been there with you to read everything, to make sure—”
“I’m an adult, Mom,” Iseul whispered, her voice breaking. “I... I thought I could handle it.”
Her mom’s eyes softened, and she reached across the table to take Iseul’s hands. “You shouldn’t have to handle it alone,” she said, her voice quiet. “I’m your mother. That’s my job.”
Iseul bit her lip, tears spilling over. She hadn’t cried all day — had kept it bottled up, shoved deep down where no one could see. But now, with her mom holding her hands and looking at her like she was something fragile, it all came crashing down.
She sobbed.
Her mom moved to her side, pulling her into a tight hug, rubbing her back as she cried into her shoulder. Iseul gripped her sweater like a lifeline, shaking with exhaustion and relief and guilt.
“I’m sorry,” she gasped, voice raw. “I’m so sorry.”
Her mom just held her tighter. “It’s okay,” she whispered. “I’m here.”
Iseul broke down completely — her body crumpling as sobs tore out of her throat. She buried her face in her mom’s shoulder, fists clutching at her hoodie like she was terrified of being let go.
Her mom held her, rubbing her back in slow, soothing circles, whispering quiet reassurances into her hair.
“I ruined everything,” Iseul gasped, her words barely intelligible through the crying. “They hate me, eomma. I’m—I’m a fraud. I’m not supposed to be there. I—I’m ruining their songs. I don’t belong.”
Her mom stiffened, grip tightening. “Who told you that?”
“N-No one,” Iseul stammered, hiccuping. “They don’t have to. I can tell. They barely talk to me. They—they left me out of their conversations all day. Even after I tried so hard. Even after I messed up the recording, they—”
“Stop,” her mom interrupted, her voice sharper now, like a blade. “Stop right there.”
Iseul gasped, startled into silence.
Her mom pulled back, cupping Iseul’s face in her hands.
Her gaze burned.
“You are not a fraud,” she said, enunciating every word like she was carving them into stone. “You trained for years. You bled for this dream. And you made it. No one handed it to you — you earned it.”
Iseul sniffled, her face crumpling.
“But they don’t like me,” she whispered.
Her mom softened, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
“Then make them like you,” she said simply. “But don’t you dare give up. You belong, Iseul. Whether they see it yet or not.”
Iseul blinked, tears still dripping down her cheeks.
Her mom wiped her face with the edge of her sleeve, smoothing her damp hair back.
“And if they still give you a hard time,” she added, voice darkening, “tell me their names. I’ll show up and scare them into loving you.”
Iseul laughed through the tears, chest heaving with a shaky, wet sound.
Her mom pulled her back into a hug, rocking her side to side like she was still a little kid.
And for the first time in days, Iseul let herself feel safe.

Everything You Need to Know About Refrigerator Repair and Finding the Right Refrigerator Repair Service
Tumblr media
Your refrigerator is one of the most important appliances in your home. It keeps your food fresh, your beverages cool, and your life running smoothly. But what happens when it breaks down? That’s where a professional refrigerator repair service becomes a lifesaver. In this blog, we’ll explore everything you need to know about refrigerator repair, from common issues and DIY tips to how to choose the right repair service.
Why Refrigerator Repair Matters
When your refrigerator stops working properly, it's not just inconvenient—it can be costly. Spoiled food, energy inefficiency, and potential damage to your kitchen floor are just a few consequences of neglecting a faulty fridge. That’s why refrigerator repair should be prioritized as soon as issues arise.
Some homeowners attempt to tackle problems themselves, which can be helpful for minor issues. But more complex malfunctions require professional help. A qualified refrigerator repair service can quickly diagnose the problem and fix it, saving you time, money, and stress in the long run.
Common Refrigerator Problems You Might Face
Understanding common refrigerator problems can help you identify when it’s time to call for refrigerator repair. Here are some issues you might encounter:
1. Refrigerator Not Cooling
This is one of the most obvious and urgent problems. If your fridge isn’t keeping food cold, it could be due to a faulty thermostat, compressor, or evaporator fan. A qualified refrigerator repair service can pinpoint the exact cause and fix it efficiently.
2. Excessive Frost in the Freezer
If your freezer looks like the inside of an igloo, you could be facing a defrost system issue. Frost buildup can restrict airflow and reduce cooling efficiency.
3. Leaking Water
Leaks are usually caused by clogged or frozen defrost drains. Sometimes, water supply lines connected to ice makers can also be the culprits. Either way, this issue should be addressed quickly by a refrigerator repair technician.
4. Unusual Noises
While some noise is normal, loud humming, clicking, or buzzing sounds could indicate a problem with the motor, fan, or compressor. Don’t ignore strange sounds—get professional help to avoid bigger issues.
5. Refrigerator Constantly Running
If your fridge runs non-stop, it might be struggling to maintain the set temperature. This often leads to higher electricity bills and worn-out components. A refrigerator repair service can check if the thermostat or seals are to blame.
DIY Refrigerator Repair: What You Can Try Before Calling the Pros
Not every refrigerator issue needs a technician. Here are a few simple fixes you can try:
Check the Power Supply: Make sure the plug hasn’t come loose and that the outlet is working.
Clean the Coils: Dusty condenser coils can reduce efficiency. Use a vacuum or coil brush to clean them.
Adjust the Temperature Settings: Ensure the thermostat is set to the recommended temperature.
Defrost the Freezer: If frost is building up, try manually defrosting by unplugging the unit for a few hours.
If these steps don’t solve the problem, it’s time to call a professional refrigerator repair service.
How to Choose the Best Refrigerator Repair Service
When it comes to hiring a refrigerator repair service, not all providers are created equal. Here’s what to look for to ensure you get top-notch service:
1. Experience and Expertise
Look for companies that specialize in refrigerator repair and have several years of experience. A seasoned technician is more likely to diagnose issues accurately and fix them quickly.
2. Certifications and Licenses
Make sure the repair service is licensed, bonded, and insured. Also, check if their technicians have certifications from manufacturers or industry bodies.
3. Transparent Pricing
Choose a company that offers upfront pricing with no hidden fees. Ask for a written estimate before any work begins.
4. Customer Reviews
Read online reviews and testimonials to gauge customer satisfaction. High ratings and positive feedback are usually good signs.
5. Warranty on Repairs
A reputable refrigerator repair service will offer a warranty on both labor and parts. This shows they stand behind their work.
Benefits of Hiring a Professional Refrigerator Repair Service
You might be wondering why hiring a professional is better than DIY. Here are a few compelling reasons:
1. Accurate Diagnosis
Trained technicians can quickly identify the root of the problem, avoiding trial and error.
2. Time-Saving
Professionals can complete the repair much faster than the average DIY attempt.
3. Access to Genuine Parts
Authorized services often have access to genuine manufacturer parts, ensuring long-lasting repairs.
4. Safety
Dealing with electrical components can be dangerous. Let professionals handle the risks.
5. Extended Appliance Lifespan
Proper repair can extend the life of your fridge, postponing the need for a costly replacement.
How Much Does Refrigerator Repair Cost?
The cost of refrigerator repair can vary based on the problem, brand, and location. Here’s a general idea:
Thermostat Replacement: $100–$250
Compressor Repair: $200–$600
Ice Maker Repair: $100–$300
Defrost Timer: $100–$200
General Diagnostic Fee: $50–$100 (often waived if repair is done)
Always get a few quotes from local refrigerator repair services before committing to ensure fair pricing.
Preventive Maintenance Tips to Avoid Frequent Repairs
While no fridge lasts forever, proper care can help reduce the frequency of breakdowns. Here are a few maintenance tips:
Clean the Coils Regularly
Keep the Fridge Level to avoid stress on the compressor
Don't Overfill the Fridge, which can block air circulation
Check the Door Seals to ensure they're airtight
Schedule Annual Professional Inspections for early detection of issues
These simple habits can save you from calling a refrigerator repair service too often.
When to Replace Instead of Repair
Sometimes, repairing your refrigerator might not be the best financial decision. Consider replacement if:
The unit is over 10–15 years old
Repairs cost more than 50% of the price of a new fridge
The fridge has a history of frequent problems
Modern refrigerators are more energy-efficient and come with better technology. In such cases, replacing might offer long-term savings.
Final Thoughts
A broken fridge is never convenient, but with the right knowledge and support, it doesn’t have to be a disaster. Whether you're dealing with cooling issues, leaks, or strange noises, addressing problems quickly can make all the difference.
If DIY fixes don’t work, don’t hesitate to contact a professional refrigerator repair service. They have the tools, training, and experience to get your appliance back in top shape. And with a little preventive maintenance, you can keep your refrigerator running smoothly for years to come.
Investing in timely refrigerator repair is not just about saving money—it’s about preserving your lifestyle and peace of mind. Need a trusted refrigerator repair service? Look for licensed professionals in your area who specialize in refrigerator repair, and don’t wait for minor issues to turn into major headaches.

What to Do If Your Washing Machine Is Leaking Water
Is your laundry room suddenly creating a problem? A washing machine leaking water can be a real nuisance and cause concerns about potential damage to your home. Don’t worry; you’re not alone in facing this issue, and there are steps you can take to address it.
Step 1: Safety First
Before you dive into troubleshooting your leaking washing machine, ensure your safety. Turn off the power supply to the machine by unplugging it or switching off the circuit breaker. Also, unplug any other nearby electrical appliances and make sure the area is dry to prevent any electrical hazards.
Step 2: Diagnose the Problem
Identifying the source of the leak is crucial. Leaks can occur during various phases of the washing cycle, so start by narrowing it down:
1. Check the hoses: Often, a leak is caused by a loose or damaged hose. Inspect both the hot and cold water supply hoses at the back of the machine. Tighten any loose connections or replace damaged hoses.
Tumblr media
3. Inspect the door seal: Front-loading washing machines have a rubber gasket or door seal. Check it for signs of wear, tears, or mold. A damaged seal can allow water to escape during a wash cycle.
4. Examine the detergent drawer: Ensure that the detergent drawer is properly closed and that there are no blockages. Sometimes, detergent residue or foreign objects can cause leaks.
5. Observe the drain hose: The drain hose should be securely attached to the machine and positioned in the drain or standpipe. A loose or improperly placed drain hose can lead to water leakage.
Step 3: Take Corrective Action
Depending on your findings, here’s what you can do:
1. Tighten or replace hoses: If you find loose connections or damaged hoses, tighten them or replace them as needed. Make sure they are securely fastened.
2. Address external damage: If there’s visible damage to the outer tub or drum, it’s best to consult a professional technician for repairs or replacement.
3. Replace the door seal: A damaged door seal should be replaced. This can be done as a DIY project if you’re comfortable, or you can call a technician for assistance.
4. Clear the detergent drawer: Clean out the detergent drawer thoroughly to remove any residue or debris. Ensure it closes properly.
5. Re-position the drain hose: If the drain hose is not positioned correctly, adjust it to ensure it drains water into the proper receptacle.
Step 4: Test the Machine
After you’ve taken the necessary steps to address the issue, it’s time to test the washing machine. Run a short wash cycle to see if the leak has been resolved. Keep a close eye on the machine during this test to ensure there are no further leaks.
Step 5: Seek Professional Help
If you’ve followed these steps and the washing machine is still leaking water, it’s advisable to contact a professional appliance repair technician. There may be internal components or complex issues that require expert diagnosis and repair.
Points To Remember
In conclusion, a leaking washing machine can be a frustrating problem, but it’s one that can often be resolved with some careful inspection and, in some cases, simple DIY fixes. Always prioritize safety, and don’t hesitate to seek professional assistance if needed. By taking prompt action, you can get your washing machine back to its reliable, water-tight self and keep your laundry room dry and functional.

Troubleshooting Guide: Resolving Huion Tablet Pen Issues
Tumblr media
In today's digital age, graphic designers, artists, and creative professionals rely heavily on graphic tablets to bring their imagination to life. Huion tablets have gained immense popularity among artists for their affordability and functionality.
However, like any electronic device, they can occasionally encounter issues. One common problem that users face is the unresponsive or malfunctioning tablet pen.
In this blog post, we will guide you through some easy troubleshooting steps to get your Huion tablet pen working flawlessly again. Visit more here about this article.
Check the Basics: Before diving into complex solutions, it's essential to ensure that you have covered the basics. Follow these initial steps to rule out any simple causes:
a) Confirm connectivity: Make sure your tablet is properly connected to your computer or device via a USB cable. Unplug and re-plug the cable to ensure a secure connection.
b) Battery check: If your Huion tablet pen requires a battery, ensure that it is not depleted. Replace the battery with a fresh one if needed.
c) Driver update: Check if you have the latest driver installed for your Huion tablet. Visit the official Huion website and download the most recent driver compatible with your operating system.
Adjust Pen Settings: The pen settings within your tablet's software may sometimes affect its responsiveness. Follow these steps to optimize the pen settings:
a) Pressure sensitivity: Open your tablet software and navigate to the pen settings. Adjust the pressure sensitivity to ensure it matches your preferred drawing style. Experiment with different levels until you find the ideal setting.
b) Calibration: Calibrate your pen to align it accurately with your tablet's screen. Most Huion tablets provide a calibration utility that allows you to achieve precise pen tracking. Follow the instructions provided in the user manual or Huion's website to perform the calibration process.
Troubleshoot Software: Software conflicts or glitches can often disrupt the functionality of your Huion tablet pen. Consider the following solutions to resolve software-related issues:
a) Restart your computer: A simple system reboot can fix temporary software hiccups. Restart your computer and check if the tablet pen starts working properly.
b) Update or reinstall drivers: Sometimes, outdated or corrupt drivers can cause the pen to malfunction. Uninstall the existing driver from your system and install the latest version downloaded from the Huion website.
c) Disable conflicting programs: Certain background applications or conflicting software may interfere with your tablet's pen performance. Temporarily disable or close unnecessary programs and check if the issue is resolved.
Hardware Inspection: If the problem persists, it's time to inspect the hardware components for any physical or mechanical issues:
a) USB port: Try connecting your tablet to a different USB port on your computer to rule out a faulty port.
b) Cable integrity: Examine the USB cable for any signs of damage or fraying. Replace the cable if necessary.
c) Pen nib: Inspect the pen nib for any signs of wear or damage. If it appears worn out, replace it with a new nib from Huion's official store.
d) Pen battery compartment: Carefully inspect the battery compartment for any debris or corrosion. Clean it gently and ensure the battery makes proper contact.
Conclusion: A malfunctioning Huion tablet pen can be frustrating for any creative professional. By following the troubleshooting steps outlined in this blog post, you can resolve many common issues and get your tablet pen back in working order.
Remember to check the basics, adjust pen settings, troubleshoot software conflicts, and inspect hardware components. If the problem persists, don't hesitate to reach out to Huion's customer support for further assistance. Keep creating and let your artistic vision soar with your Huion tablet!

You deeply groaned as you fluttered your eyes open. This was not a great time to wake up. You really wanted another hour of sleep, but you knew you had work to get done today.
You looked behind you. You smiled at the sight of Wilbur in his sweet slumber, his arm lazily draped over your waist. Wilbur very much loved to be in bed with you. If he could, he would spend all day there, just you in his arms and some soft lofi in the background.
That was something very rare to get. Being a streamer and musician, Wilbur was busy almost all the time and rarely took a day off. Mornings and nights were dedicated to you. However, there were times that you would stream with him, or stop by the office to give him food, but nothing was compared to waking up with him.
“Oh shit,” You whispered, “We’re supposed to do morning vlog today.”
You looked around for Wilbur’s camera, which was no where to be found. You settled on stretching over to nightstand and unplugging your phone. You looked back at Wilbur to make sure he was still sleeping. You could tell he was by the gentle raise and fall of his chest and subtle “Ah-woo”. You just knew that was the perfect way to start the vlog. You recored him for about ten seconds of him doing his ‘not really a snore but definitely something’ and giggled almost the whole way through.
You would think that after living with him for two months and the multiple sleepovers that you’ve had with him, that you would be used to it by now. But even today you still giggled just like you did when you first woke up with him.
You snuck yourself out of bed and made your way to the kitchen. Once arrived you did the intro, “Good morning chat! It is currently about 6:30 in the morning, and as you realize, I am the only one awake. As you saw, Wilbur is still sound asleep and that how it is every morning. So we’re going to vlog our morning routine today, which I promise is way more interesting than the nightly routine vlog. So, Wilbur is literally the best person ever and deserves the world. And his world, besides me of course, is his morning coffee. So I’m going to use our Keurig to get his coffee started.”
You stopped the recording and decided to get some of your creativity out. You weren’t musical like Wilbur and can't draw for shit, so videography was your way of being creative. You set your phone the in the corner and opened up the blind to let a little bit of light through. It still looked basic so you moved your plant to the background, which added the perfect look. You started brewing and hit record.
While that was going, you measured out the creamer and syrup and grabbed your sippy cup for your chocolate milk. No judgement here. We all know chocolate milk tastes better in sippy cups.
The brew came to a slow stop and you grabbed the camera, “Wasn't that a satisfactory angle chat? Now, I am more of an iced coffee person, so in the morning I have water or chocolate milk, and today is definitely a chocolate milk day.” You raised your cup to the camera and fake ‘clinked’ it, cutting the recording when it was closest to the camera. You finished up making Wilbur’s coffee and set it on the living room table.
You looked at the time, 6:50 am, now was a good time to get Wilbur up. You always let his coffee sit out for a little bit, that way he could drink it the second that he woke up. You threw some napkins under your drinks and moved another plant over there. You wanted your place to look aesthetically pleasing, even if it was a little bit staged. You did a transition with your cup, this time now on the table.
“Okay chat, we all now mr. simpbur is a snuggler so we don't have breakfast in the kitchen, instead we share on the couch, that way we can get all of our snuggles in before he has to leave for the office. I have everything set up, normally I would prepare breakfast too, but I feel like cooking with Wilbur this morning. We’ll do this about once a week for some bonding time, so let's go get him up,” You decided to keep recording, just in case Wilbur woke up from your loss of presence.
You creaked the door open, Wilbur was still asleep. He adjusted his body for that he was hugging a pillow, who you assumed was your replacement. You laid down next to him and just took a moment to admire him. It was moments like this that you forgot that you were internet personalities. This was you. This was Wilbur. Both of you living your life without needing to exaggerate yourself. This was Wilbur at his purest form. He was all relaxed, not even aware that he was being recorded.
You scooted closer to him and intertwined your legs with him. You brushed his bangs with the back of your hands and gently placed your lips on your forehead. He stirred a little bit, but not enough to wake him up. You took the pillow from him and wrapped your body around his, “Wilbur, my love, it's about seven, you need to get up.”
You could tell he woke up by him pulling you closer and burying his head only you neck. You gently massaged his head and twirled his curls between your fingers, “Come on Will, I got your coffee made already. We need to start breakfast.”
He shook his head and kissed your shoulder, “Mine.”
You laughed, “Yes Will, and ‘yours’ is hungry, let’s get up and eat.”
He slowly nodded and pulled you closer, “Mmmm... I love you.”
“I love you too, simpbur.”
He snapped his head up at the nickname and saw the camera, “Fuck-that’s today?”
You giggled and detached yourself from, “Say good morning to chat.”
He shook his head and buried it in his pillow out of embarrassment. You stop recording and put your phone on the stand. Just seeing Wilbur all flustered was enough to make you go back to bed. You laid back down with him and pulled him on top of you.
“We’re gonna have to re-record that part,” Wilbur mentioned.
You rubbed his cheek with your thumb, which he happily leaned into, “No bubs, we gotta keep it in. It was a very cute moment.”
He shook his head aggressively, “No! That was embarrassing!”
“Too bad, it’s on my phone so I get to chose what goes in.”
He huffed and grabbed your hand, accepting defeat, “You said you made my coffee?”
You two got up and sat down on the couch. Wilbur took you into his arms the second he took his first sip, his personal way of saying ‘thank you, you’re the best person to ever exist’.
“What are you feeling for breakfast?” You asked.
“You,” Wilbur joked, kissing your temple.
You gently pushed him, “No actually, I really want yogurt, so pick something that goes well with that.”
“Can we just make a fruit plate?”
You excitedly nodded, if it wasn't for Wilbur, you would not be eating healthy. He really made sure that you were going to live as long as he did. Neither of you could live without the other. If something crazy didn't happen to you, you were going to die from a broken heart.
Wilbur grabbed your phone and started recording, “So um, good morning chat, I’ve had some coffee and more awake now. What you just saw- no you fucking didn't. We’re on the sofa right now and we decided on a fruit plate with yogurt this morning, trying to be a little healthier considering we had ice cream at one am last night. So we’re gonna make that off camera, because if you guys get us to six million subs, we’ll do a cooking stream!”
“Oh we are now?” You questioned. “I was never told about this.”
Wilbur laughed and kissed your temple, “Well you know now, that's good enough innit?”
You shook your head and placed your hand over the camera, Wilbur stopped the recording. You go the fruit out while Wilbur prepared the sink for rinsing and knives for chopping.
You made the plate look all nice and took it back to the couch. Wilbur placed his arm back over you and grabbed the remote with is free hand while you centered your phone.
“Okay chat, we’re gonna eat and watch tv for a bit, then you're gonna get ready with us. Wilbur has a test shoot at the office today, so we gotta make him look all pretty and obviously personal hygiene is a must... so yeah, brb.”
You two set up another game show to watch, it sorta became your go to show. Especially because there was no storyline and you could talk when you wanted. This was a pretty chill morning, you two enjoyed each other's presence.
When you finished up, Wilbur took the dishes and you went to the bathroom and cleaned up a little bit. You heard Wilbur go into his closet, so you started recording, “Okay chat, last thing we do before he leaves is actually get ready. Wilbur is getting changed right now so I’m gonna brush my hair out. I can get a little aggressive with the snarls and Wilbur always thinks I'm ripping my hair out so I always do it when he's not around to make sure he doesn't get worried.”
You set the phone in the corner and set it up to record a time lapse. You heard off in distance some light pop type of music, so you knew that Wilbur got his speaker out.
“Are you playing copyrighted music?” You called.
“It’s released Lovejoy!”
You smiled, you always got giddy seeing how happy Wilbur was able to make himself with his own music. You set your brush down and started to wet your toothbrush, Wilbur slid into frame, already jamming out to his own music.
You covered your mouth with your hand stifled your laughter. Wilbur laughed with you and tugged on your waist, trying to get you to dance with him. You aggressively shook your head no, you hated dancing. You would think by now that you would be used to Wilbur and his random dance breaks, but you never came around.
You looked down in shame as Wilbur attempted to get you to spin around. Once you made it clear that you were not in the mood to dance, Wilbur turned down the music and waddle over to the counter.
You grabbed the camera, “If someone wants a very tall British man, you can come get him. Warning: not fun dance outbreaks.”
“Oh come on now, y/n!” Wilbur wrapped his arms around your waist and placed his head on yours, “Stop pretending like you don't like to dance.” “You know I hate dancing,” You reminded him.
“Well chat, apparently I’m not allowed to have any fun in the morning? But anyway, that was a joke, but- we do really have to get ready. Should we do this Disney Channel style?”
You laughed and shook your head, “No, I think I just want to make sure you don't miss your meeting.”
“That’s at nine! We have time! Please let me have fun with you! It’s going to be such a stressful day!” He pouted with the cutest puppy dogs eyes.
There was no way that you could say no to him, “Alright, what fun we having?”
Wilbur said nothing and prepared his toothbrush like yours, “Last one to finish brushing their teeth has to do the dishes tonight.”
You hated dishes. You were winning this one. You didn't even wait for a countdown. You instantly grabbed your toothbrush and turned on the water with lightening speed.
“What?!” Wilbur yelled. “That’s not fair!”
You did your best to bump him away, but it literally did nothing. Both of you were laughing very hard but Wilbur quickly caught up. You both fought with your hands, trying to cup a decent amount water. You both managed to get the water into your mouth and you turned to face Wilbur, it came down to who could rinse the fastest. You two just stared at each other, wishing the water around. You were dead serious. You were not doing the dishes tonight. Wilbur kept flaunting his hands around trying get himself to go faster, which ended up in him completely breaking out in laughter and spitting all over your face. It took you by surprise and all that you could you do was laugh to yourself, you eventually spit the water out in the sink, raising your hands in victory.
“I am so sorry, love!” Wilbur took your hand and guided you into his arms, gently running his hand up and down your back, “I didn't think that would be that hilarious.” “It’s okay,” You laughed and looked back in the mirror. You were completely drenched shoulder up, “It was fun. Better to happen to me than you, you look really nice today for the shoot.” “Thank you,” Wilbur blushed and turned you around, “I think that is enough recording for today. All that we have left to do is leave so... thank you for watching! Subscribe now and remember, cooking stream at six mil! Bye guys!”

Remedy | JJK x Reader | 💜☁️🔞🤖
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jeon Jungkook x Reader
Genre: Android!AU, Android!Jungkook, AI!Jungkook
Warnings: mentions of war, PTSD, Panic attack, confused!Koo, soft reader, like my god I just wanna put her in my pocket and keep her safe, aka that’s what Koo wants to do, protective!Koo, praise kink, unprotected sex but izz fine Kookoo can’t knock her up anyways, soft sex, it’s very soft ngl, there’s a bird, some sad Koo, kook cries here and there, comfort and rehabilitation
Summary: JJK, Or J-Jungkook097 was a tactical fighter-type Android, used in modern war as a simple weapon and nothing more. Now retired after serious injuries, he has to adjust to modern life outside the war zone or he’ll get scrapped; and that’s where you come in, a rare human being ready to take on that challenge.
Tumblr media
"Ah, what a waste, really." A worker says, looking the body of the Android over. "You sure you don't want him?" He asks, and the older worker shakes his head.
"I can't let him around my kids by himself, and I don't want him to snap around my wife either. He's not suited for my home and family." He says, looking the male robot over, before he pulls out his phone. "I think I know someone who just might take him." He says, hurriedly texting, before he gets a call back.
Tumblr media
"Huh. Is he factory reset, or still running?" You ask, as Seokjin connects cords to the back of the android's neck.
"We tried to have him reset himself, but there's been problems." He explains. "He told us he did already, but that can't be true since he'd need a command to do it- his model isn't equipped with those AI options. Maybe his memory overloaded and deleted stuff as a survival protocol, we don't know. He's a military model, after all, they didn't let us see his original save data- they just downloaded it and went their way, leaving him for us to dismantle if he couldn't reset him properly for a new system." He says, as you type in some stuff, before viewing the screen you hold in your hand.
"So he's technically still running on his original warzone-system?" You ask Jin, and he nods, sighing. You furrow your brows, and the older male looks over at your tablet to see what you're looking at. "Are you sure? This is.. his AI settings are all set to.. look at this; companionable, friendly, all his settings are set to a companion-android, not a fighter type." You mumble, confused by this.
"Wait no no no that wasn't like that when I last looked at him." Jin says, taking the tablet from you as he types in some stuff. "Huh. This is weird." He says, showing you something. "Look at the protocol."
You do. "Huh." You say, looking at the last line of code.
Last change made by: JJK_OSADMIN
"He changed his own system." You say, and Jin is standing up now.
"I'm taking him with me, I can't let him-" He starts, but you do as well, placing your hands ontop of the Androids chest as if you're guarding him.
"NO! I already signed, I own him- Jin, I have to look into this- and he's set to friendly, he won't get hostile that easily." You try to reassure him, and he sighs after a while, taking his jacket from the chair close by.
"Keep me updated." He says, as he leaves you be.
The Android still sitting limply on your chair.
Tumblr media
"Alright JJK. Time to wake up." You say, closing the small panel before you sit in front of him, waiting for his system to run the commands you had typed in before unplugging him. It takes a moment, but there's movement after that; his body slowly starting to sit properly, muscles moving into place, and system running it's diagnostics to detect any change in hard- or software made. It marks down his eyes, the small patches of skin re-made, and that his body-liquids had been replaced.
He feels good.
His eyes open slowly, iris moving and focusing in Various degrees before they meet your form. "Hello." He simply says. "Are you my new owner?" He asks, and you nod, expecting that question. He's not been factory reset, which means even though his memory was scattered, and his system had been changed, he was still aware of everything vital. He nods, before he looks around. "I'm now supposed to run on the companion protocol, correct?" He asks, and you shrug. He's confused, as you suddenly smile at him.
"I don't know." You tell him. "Companion, Individual- what would you like?" You ask, knowing it will bring his current system to it's limits. He's not made to make decisions like that, and you think it's quite endearing to see him suddenly think like that.
"I.. choose?" He mumbles, before he looks at you seriously. "I'd like to be given a small time frame to properly research before I come to a conclusion." He says, and your eyes widen.
You look at him, still friendly as ever. "So, you want to figure out what you want first?" You ask, and he nods, a bit hesitantly. "Okay. Just tell me when you've made up your mind then." You say, and he nods.
"What are my daily tasks?" He asks, and you shrug again. "This is frustrating." He says, and you laugh at that.
It's weird to hear it. But he notes it down as a positive response from you.
"Just don't burn the house down while trying to cook or something." You joke, and he seems to take it seriously.
"Why would I set your home aflame while attempting to cook? I'm not even capable of either task.." He says, and you get up, grinning.
"Don't worry so much. Just properly charge for now- we'll see what's gonna happen as it happens." You say.
He nods.
Tumblr media
Jungkook knows that around 75% of fatal accidents occur in a mere household. He also knows, that a regular home is the safest place to live. Yet there he was, on the floor, holding his ears as an attempt to block out the sound of his nightmares. "Jungkook?" You ask, as you turn off the microwave. He's still shaking as you sit down in front of him, close- but not touching, unknowing if he would react to that negatively or not. "Can you hear me?" You ask, and he hesitantly retracts his hands from his ears, letting the sound in again. The beeping of the microwave is now gone, only the soft ticking of your clock on the wall and the buzzing of your fridge remain. "I'm sorry that scared you." You say, smiling apologetically as he shakes his head, face serious. His eyes move frantically as they glow an orange hue, showing his system status.
"No, I should apologize." He says. "I don't know why I displayed this reaction to a mere household object." He admits, and you open the microwave to take out your meal, before sitting down on the kitchen floor. "You shouldn't do that- the tiles are very cold-" He starts, but you wave him off.
"Its fine. Both." You say. "You're probably still confusing some sounds and things with your past use as a warzone model. So it's normal- your system has to adapt. You have to adapt." You say. "We all need some time to heal after what you've been through." You say.
He sits quietly after those words, watching you as he goes through his research on you. You're a very unusual individual, displaying a lot of behaviors he hasn't seen before. You take care of everything with a sense of care that makes him come to the conclusion that you're probably treating the machines and robots like living beings. Such as the oldschool robot-dog that he's seen under your living room table. It's currently charging, but he's seen you interact with it- genuinely displaying happiness and excitement at the very basic AI of the pet-robot that's missing a leg.
Its broken, just like him. But you're taking care of it, just like you take care of him.
You're very caring with him, too. He's seen you search for skin patches that match his color almost perfectly, even though they were more expensive than the usual models found in stores. You apologize for 'hurting' him, even though it's sometimes nescessary to repair him. You ask him about opinions, and let him roam around freely around the house.
You're a very friendly person.
And he, unknown to you, starts to create new files inside his system.
Tumblr media
You're not there when he wakes up the next day.
He scans the house for any movement, but there is none that would lead him to the conclusion that you're there. There's no sign of you, and he becomes frantic, suddenly.
If his system would've worked properly like it should have, he would've remembered that you had told him yesterday that you would make a small trip to the local grocery store around the corner. But his system isn't working properly, already displaying several scenarios of you getting hurt, or vanishing, or leaving him alone.
He’d seen it before, so many times, hell; he’d been the reason of so many deaths in the first place and it never bothered him. So why was his internal system going absolute haywire at the mere idea of something happening to you? It was to be expected really- with how fragile you are, mentally and physically, it was bound to happen at some point. So why, if he knew it deep down already, did it make his pulse race and his skin feel weird?
You’d told him to stay home, but there was no way he’d be able to let you out of his sight. Because no, there were no emotions involved; they’d been restricted for him at the beginning after all, he was simply looking out for you. Probably a bug, maybe his system thought you were someone to be protected, a new mission to keep him occupied, that was probably it. It wasn’t because you had been so sweet with him, it wasn’t because of how gently you were in correcting him whenever he did something bad, it wasn’t because you were an absolute divine being in his eyes.
“Kook?” You said, an almost painful huff of breath escaping you when he crashed into you, holding you, his arms squeezing you a bit and his face burying itself into the crook of your neck, every sense drinking you in, saving the proof that you were okay, you were real, you were completely fine. “I-“ you started, and his eyes ripped open, suddenly realizing that he may be hurting you. As if burned he reacted, hands hovering over your shoulders as he looked you over.
“I apologize, I’m so sorry, does it hurt bad-“ he spoke hurriedly, eyes already glazing over with tears he didn’t even knew he could shed. Why did he suddenly feel so upset? His entire system was overloading, tears finally flowing and disrupting his sight so badly that he didn’t see your face anymore; sending him into panic even more. “I’m sorry- I’m-“ he pressed out, but there was nothing working anymore it seemed.
Only a few minutes later did he slowly come back to his senses, first thing he noticed being the way you held his body close, softly speaking to him while you were petting his head. It was such a weird sensation, yet it somehow soothed his mind back, as he realized that you were both on the ground. He was way too heavy, why were you doing that? But when he tried to get up, you held him tightly. “Take a Moment, Jungkook. You’re okay, I’m okay, just a breathe, yeah?” You said, and he nodded. “Let’s go back inside then yeah?” You softly said, and he nodded.
“But you need to buy groceries. We don’t have sufficient stock of-“ he started, but you giggled, the sound something he knew he liked. He didn’t quite know what to think of his newly found preferences for things, but he simply let it happen for now.
Because liking you could never be a mistake, he decided.
Tumblr media
He calls out for you one day, his hands holding something you can't see yet. His eyes are wide open, his optics moving around frantically as he calls again. "Creator, please!" He calls, as you finally spot him, walking over as he looks at you with a worried expression. "Please- I don't know what to do. She flew against our window and probably has a concussion- you can help her, right?" He says, and you don't get curious as to why he immediately knows the birds gender and diagnosis; he can scan the tiny body, after all.
"Ah, come into the kitchen." You say, and he follows quickly, still delicately holding the tiny body in his palm, careful not to drop it. "Lets put her in a box and a nice quiet place, yeah? She'll recover on her own probably." You reassure him as he watches you place her in an old box without a lid. "Put her where you found her, okay? That way she'll know her way back easier." You tell him, and he nods, determined, as he walks back towards where he had found the bird.
Jungkook, in a way, was slowly changing nowadays.
He was a curious being, always eager to learn about the most mundane things. True to his purpose he picked up on things very easily; learning how to draw and paint very quickly. He had recently gotten interested in a video game you used to play before your work took over your time- and you loved seeing him have genuine fun with it.
He wasn't doing things anymore because they were asked of him. Or because they were an order.
He was developing hobbies, you'd noticed.
Of course you kept Jin updated about all of these things, and he had been happy to learn that his reboot was going well- joking around that he was glad he hadn't killed you in your sleep yet. And while, at first, you were quite wary of him walking around the apartment, nowadays, you couldn't imagine Jungkook even hurting a fly.
Just like with that tiny bird.
He was a gentle soul, simply a bit clumsy sometimes- apologizing over and over after breaking your alarm clock once, the alarm setting off another one of his 'episodes'- moments of flashbacks he got from his past purpose in war. You had reassured him and had let him watch as you fixed it again, praising him along when he gave you the right tools.
Praise. That was something he seeked as well.
And it wasn't just that he wanted aknowledgement of his own achievements. It was more your attention that he wanted. He wanted to be around you whenever possible, even sometimes dancing around the topic of maybe sharing a bed one day- but he had also been wary of hurting you in your sleep, by rolling over or something alike.
Always so thoughtful.
But he would be able to hold you that day; when you had complained about being tired, he had suggested a nap to you. Instantly taking on that chance, you laid down, rolling over as he was still on the couch with you, already having laid down prior. He was unsure at first where to put his hands, until he decided to just go for the common human way of affection; holding you close.
And he made a note inside his system, that he truly deeply enjoyed the feeling.

He finds you on the couch, crying, after an argument on the phone. That in itself isn't the issue he's having, however- it's the sudden wave of protectiveness rolling over him, drowning his senses as he walks over to you, his orange glowing eyes now scanning your form. "What did he do?" He asks, knowing that it was a former partner of yours, constantly calling you asking for money. It's a bad habit of yours that you can't seem to say no; and now that you did for once, he had bitten your ear off with bad remarks and names you'd rather not repeat. "I'll hurt him, just say the word. He needs to feel the same pain you do-" He's shaking a little, you can see it now; his hands unsure where to place themselves, his eyes watching over you, his breathing a little faster. He starts again, and you put a hand on his shoulder to stop his words.
“Jungkook no, he didn’t hurt me in like, a physical way.” You tried to explain, tears now forgotten as you try to calm the Android on your couch down- still absolutely terrified by your state. “I’m gonna be fine.” You say, but he doesn’t seem convinced. Or is it something else?
“But why am I hurting?” He asks suddenly, and your eyes widen. Well, why was he? Technically he was capable of understanding emotions, that wasn’t shocking. What was confusing to you however was just how he was able to share your pain. And it was obvious he did; the way his eyes glistened and his body shivered, overwhelmed by whatever was happening. “Why does it hurt to see you hurt?” He almost whispers, lost with the situation.
Jungkook was indeed a very weird android- you’ve noticed that long ago already. He was emotional, sometimes moody, and slowly began to develop an actual personality the more he was living with you.
Something his model shouldn’t be capable of.
And maybe that should scare you- maybe that should worry you, maybe you should call up support for answers, but you don’t. You do what’s best for yourself and what you think is best for him in that moment; you lean forward, and wrap your arms around him. And it doesn’t feel at all like an android you’re hugging in that moment, because an android wouldn’t cry with you. An android wouldn’t hold you like this, wouldn’t tremble in your hold like this. It makes it easy to forget that Jungkook isn’t human.
And that in itself is absolutely dangerous.
Somehow, his system had bypassed the blockade to his emotional capacities.
He had noticed it ever since you had been out to restock groceries by yourself, but he had been a little unsure back then. He now knows, for sure, that something had happened.
It was confusing, to say the least.
So many things were somehow suddenly starting to fall into place for him; his favoritism to being close to you, or his system failing whenever you weren't nearby. It also makes sense that he's standing right in front of your bedroom door that night, knocking as you open it. He feels a weird sense of protectiveness seeing you tired and vulnerable like that, and he sits down on the side of the bed where you join him. "Is everything okay?" You ask, and he shakes his head.
Nothing is okay, everything is confusing, and he's unsure what to quite think of all of this. "I feel.. confused. Scared. There's.. fear, in me, boiling up and interrupting my thoughts." He explains, and you nod.
"Feeling is scary, huh?" You ask, as he looks at you.
"How do you do it?" He asks, and you lean your head a bit to the side in question. "There's.. so much of it. How do you.. separate it, keep it in order? Its all over the place, and it's.. so distracting. Its so overwhelming- I can't seem to calm down." He mumbles, serious face turning frustrated as his fingers play with the fabric of his pants.
"We don't." You say. He looks at you for a moment, before you continue. "We just.. let it run through us, I guess. If you don't, it'll make you sick after a while. " You say, and he looks at you.
"But.." He starts. "I fear I might start to display reactions a male android model isn't supposed to openly display." He almost whispers.
"You don't have to openly do it." You reassure him, placing a hand on his shoulder, before moving a bit, body facing him as you open your arms. "It's just me; and I won't judge. You can be whoever you want with me, Jungkook." You say, and he lays down next to you in your arms, momentarily enjoying the quietness and closeness of the affectionate gesture.
"There are no bad feelings, Jungkook." You tell him, and he listens, as he lets them run through him, just like you told him. The sadness, the comfort of your body against his, the.. adoration he feels towards you. Everything, even though it hurts him, physically, something he only ever thought was a artistic way of describing emotions. "There are only wrong actions." You say. "If you feel the need to cry, cry. If you're angry, scream, shout, or find something to channel that into. But if you bottle it up-" You say, "they will lead to mistakes. They will bring pain, and they will bring remorse."
His voice is strained as he talks. "But how do I know when to act on them, and when not to?" He says, and you chuckle.
"You'll learn, Jungkook." You reassure him. "You'll learn."
And he nods against your shoulder, before you can feel him shake a little less, quiet sobs racking through his body until his exhausted body falls asleep to charge.
Tumblr media
"Remarkable." Jin comments, as he watches the lines and lines of codes. "He has started to self-code his own system. He's quite literally learning." He says. "All by himself. This is amazing." He says, before he disconnects Jungkook.
"He's still a bit jumpy sometimes, and the microwave is still his worst enemy-" You say, as Jungkook reboots again, eyes slowly focusing as they start to glow again. "But he really is amazing." You say, and Jungkook beams at that, proudly smiling.
It's rare for an android to display such emotions, and he's still often very much void of any clear visual feedback in terms of facial expressions- but he's learning, and he's evolving, growing, in a way. Seokjin closes the panel on the back of Jungkooks neck, as the android stands up to walk closer to you. "Jungkook." Jin says, and the android turns towards the young man. "Do you look after her well?" He asks, and Jungkook nods. "Make sure she stays hydrated during the day, yeah? I highly doubt she's told you she struggles with that." He says, and you whine, as Jungkooks head whips around, eyes scanning your body as he furrows his brows.
"Creator, you need to drink at least 2.5 Liters of water per day. It's vital for your health, which is already very delicate." He says, and you glare at Jin for telling him anything about that.
"I'm fine- and also, please don't call me creator. I'm not anything like that." You say, picking up the walking puppy-robot as Jungkook nods.
"What should I call you then?" He asks, and Jin perks up.
"Call her baby!"
"Jin NO-!"
"No matter what she tells you-" Jin says, holding Jungkooks shoulders as he looks at him seriously. "She likes it." He says, and Jungkook, serious as ever, nods, noting it down, as you groan.
"I hate you both!" You say, and Jungkooks eyes widen.
"You.." He says, voice almost not heard over the laugh of Jin. "Hate me?" He asks, and you immediately regret your words. Jungkook still hasn't figured out sarcasm yet- the entire concept still a little too complicated for his system to grasp, so you walk closer to him, holding his cheeks in your hands.
"No no no, I don't, I could never-" You promise him, as he nods with already glossy eyes. "I just said it as a joke, okay?" You say, and he nods again, biting his lip a little before Jin clears his throat.
"I'll head off now." He says, already putting on his coat. "Thank you for letting me see him- it's really amazing to see him grow like that." He says, and you nod, giving him a short hug before he leaves.
And for some reason, Jungkook feels jealous, watching you so close to him.
Tumblr media
Jungkook is in love with you.
He's come to that conclusion all by himself, and he's proud of it, but he's also very unsure about it. He has done a lot of research, scanned every source he could find and validate; and he has found a new interest in activities humans do in relationships to show their partner love and affection. He's not stupid, he knows what intimacy is, and is also aware that he's capable of doing these things with you; but he's also a little unsure, if you'd want that.
After all, there's nothing he could give you.
So one night, he stands in front of your door again, knocking, as you open it.
"Do you think.." He starts. "I'm capable of love?" He asks, and you look at him. "Because I think.. no, I am very sure I love you." He admits, and you get up, but there's no stopping him. "I don't know what it's like for you, but I have observed my newfound emotions, and there's a pattern I've detected; whenever I'm with you, around you, whenever you give me attention, or when you touch me, theres always the same emotions involved; there's this need to take care of you, to keep you safe, to be close." He rambles, and you listen to him as he talks, walking closer to you as his hands find your shoulders. "There's this.. urge, to partake in human intimacy with you. I want to.. show affection the common way, like kissing you, or holding you, things like that." Your cheeks grow a little red. "But I don't know if you are experiencing the same things. My research shows that.. that we could only do these things, if it's the same for you." He says, and then, almost as if hes whispering. "Is it?" He asks, and you struggle to answer. "Do you.. feel the same.?" He asks again, waiting for you to say anything at all.
You stay silent.
Tumblr media
Its a sunday when a letter arrives at your home.
When you open it, there's several papers inside; Jungkooks personality tests, official papers that make it possible for him to leave on his own. When he reads them, he's serious, as he watches you smile at him.
"Jungkook, this is great, isn't it?" You say, trying hard to not let it show that you dread letting go of him. "You can finally get an apartment- maybe make something out of your talents, and earn a living. You're free to go now." You say, biting the inside of your cheek as he looks at you with wide eyes.
"But.." He starts, softly. "I'm yours." He states, and you shake your head, swallowing hard.
"Jungkook no.. you're you. No one owns you anymore." You say, and he suddenly shakes his head, throwing the papers in the kitchen sink as he walks towards you, his hands on your shoulders.
He looks at you, serious, as his optics focus on you. "You were the one who told me that every machine should be treated with respect." He states, as you look away from him, his hands shaking you a little as he tries to get your attention back on him. "You said even we androids have souls." He says.
"I did, but-" You start, but he cuts you off.
"And if we do, if we really do-" He speaks, his hands now holding your head, his face drenched in desperation. "Than it belongs to you." He states, and your eyes widen. "It's yours." He repeats. "If having it for myself means I have to leave you, I don't want it."
"I don't.. want to take advantage of you, Jungkook." You say. "You're.. everything is still new to you, I don't want you to regret this-" You start, and he leans down.
"I won't. I've run every possible scan I could, calculated every possible outcome, you know I can't lie to you. I could never regret this.." He says, as he leans down a little. "Can I..?" He asks, and you smile, jumping over your own shadow in a way, as you give him a nod. "I.. can you.. say it?" He asks. "Just once?"
You take his hands in yours, as you lean closer. "I love you, Jungkook." You say, and he gasps, his systems going absolute haywire in the best ways possible. He's again filled with emotions, but this time, they don't hurt; they make him feel light, as if he weighs nothing, they make him close his eyes because suddenly even the slightest light is too bright for his optics.
"Again." He asks, and you comply.
"I love you."
"Again."
"I love you."
He sighs, as his lips finally meet yours.
There's no magical fireworks or anything like that- but Jungkook decides that he doesn't need these things. The feeling itself, the emotions flooding his body are enough to outshine any beauty of reality itself. There's nothing he could ever compare to this, he decides.
He's unsure if Androids have instincts, but in that moment, for the first time, he doesn't care. This seems to be one of those situations to let his emotions run through him, lead him, show him what to do, he decides. His hands roam over your skin, ears catching every sound you make as he moves on autopilot it seems. He's letting go, he's finally doing something he really wants.
And it's all thanks to you- you've given him the chance to be himself.
You've given him the gift of feeling loved, as he finally comes as close to you as lovers ever could; entering you carefully, senses on high alert as he feels your walls around his length. He had been unsure of why pleasure seemed to be described as fun and intimate, but now he can relate to these claims fully. He's so full of love, so overwhelmed, that he simply rests his forehead on your naked shoulder, eyes closed as he simply lets himself feel. He doesn't care about his whines and groans, only focusing on you and your body, on the feedback every muscle sends to his systems, enjoying the way you make him feel.
Its truly magical, he notices.
He doesn't even notice his nor your orgasm at all, but it doesn't matter.
Because at the end of the night, he finally holds you close. Not like before, but this time, as lovers.
Tumblr media
"I've given her exactly 0.26 milliliters of a 1 to 1 water and fruit sugar mixture every day at appropriate times." Jungkook seriously tells the vet, as he looks at the bird on the metal table.
"I see. Good job." He praises, before looking at you. "A warzone-type?" He asks, and you nod. "Barely noticable. I have one too, that's how I knew." He comments, before he turns to Jungkook again. "I'd say the bird simply likes your company, Jungkook. She just want's to stay with you That's why she comes back." He explains.
"Like me and Baby?" He asks, and you giggle at the nickname Jungkook keeps using.
"Yes, like you and her." Namjoon says, utterly entertained by you and Jungkook. "So I'd say let her be around. She's perfectly healthy, otherwise." He says, and Jungkook turns around, box in hand, as he smiles.
Tumblr media
It's quiet that evening, sun slowly setting and drenching the walls of your shared apartment in a golden glow. Jungkook watches your sleeping form, leaned against him on the couch, as he simply remembers all of the things he's experienced because of you.
He truly is a machine capable of love.
Because you taught him how.

⇢ Authors note: This is my mini series for the summer! Get your tissues, things to take your anger out on, and sit back and watch the drama unfold. Shall we begin?
Your eyes shoot open, chest heaving heavily as you let out a blood curdling scream. Not this again. The same dream over and over again each night. It leaves you sleepless. The time on the clock on your nightstand reads 3:04 am. Just only four hours ago is when you fell asleep. But a full night’s sleep hasn’t happened for a year so why would it matter anyways.
Once you catch your breath you unplug your phone from the charger and read some of the notifications. From your window, the night-time critters sing their songs along with the persistant owl that’s somewhere around the apartment complex. You’d only noticed him, the owl, just a few months ago when your cat started meowing with his hoots.
A missed call from your uncle.
Immediately you unlock your phone and dial the number. Bringing your index finger to your mouth you gently nip on it waiting for it to answer, The rings are agonizing to you. If something has happened you only wish and pray it wasn’t as bad as you think. He’s the only parental figure left in your life.
‘‘ Princess! Hello I was just calling to speak to you earlier. But I realized you are five hours ahead of me and you had probably went to sleep.’‘
His soothing voice calms your emotions making you let out a tiny breath of air. Thank god.
‘’Hey Charlie.” You sigh. Looking towards your left, you spot Clara purring quietly next to you. You can’t help but to smile while bringing a hand over to rub her head with your thumb.  She’s so small under the shining moonlight from your window.
Her white coat shines brightly amongst her, making you remember the first night you had brought her home. All she did was sleep, and it worried you because you had no prior expierence caring for anything, let alone a small animal. Clara only drank kitten milk and slept back then. Occasionally being awake enough to nip at your fingers whenever you pet or touched her.
Now she’s a bit bigger and walks around the apartment like she owns the place. Quite the little attitude she has, but its too damn cute for you to scold her whenever she does something wrong.
“ Yes I did fall asleep from after a gathering at someone’s house.’’ You continue on, bringing your knees to your chest after opening the curtain of your window fully.
The moons brightness illuminates the entire room, but not so bright for you to complain though. ‘’ Oh- was it Jimin’s? Tell him I said hell-’’
You bite your lip hard at his name. He doesn’t know and you wont even dare to let him know. Knowing him, your uncle would have a fit and oppose to come back to Seoul to ‘set the record straight.’ to Jimin. That’s the last thing you want to do, cause trouble.
‘‘ It was his brother’s house warming party.” You say, lowering your tone in your voice. You look at the nightstand for a couple of seconds just before opening the top drawer of the wooden, polished piece. Your hands shakily pull out a picture of you two together.
It was taken at  Marne-la-Vallée, France right infront of Cinderella’s castle. That was the day that you and Jimin had to went to Disneyland in Paris, France. You cant help but to think, with the picture in hand, that it was one of the best nights ever. It was also the same night your virginity was taken.
‘‘ Oh.. I know that tone. Are you two arguing at the moment.”
You shrug, “ I mean you could say that.’’
No you cant.
‘‘ Alright alright I won’t talk more of him. Let’s change the subject.” He chuckles deeply into the phone.
‘‘ How’s Europe? Anything new happening on base?”
‘‘ Same old Same old. It’s been what? 2 years since I’ve left Seoul? The food is different over here. They don’t have kimchi pancakes sadly.”
You can only imagine the frowny face he makes at you whenever he doesn’t approve or like something. It always turns out to be funny.
You giggle into the phone shaking your head slightly, “ Of course. You are in Europe Charlie. Where are you getting food from anyway if you are on base?’’
‘‘ I can go off base to a certain mileage when I am off duty. I just have to report back in time. But you do know that you can always come live on base with me...’ He trails off.
Oh boy. Here he goes. He’s always talking about moving you on base with him. Hell, he’s been talking about it since before he had to go to be based in Europe. By then you were twenty years old and old enough to live by yourself. Growing up in Daegu, Korea since you were six, you felt as if Korea was home to you and you definately weren’t ready to leave yet.
Especially, after losing your parents here. Around eight years old, your aunt and mother were on the way to pick up your father from the airport. With your mom and dad also being military and based in Korea with your dad’s bestfriend, your uncle Charlie, your father had been called to take military leave to go and be based in Korea for the National Guard.
On the way back from the airport, a drunk driver had struck the car knocking them off the road and colliding head first into the railing of the bridge. All bodies were reported dead upon collision, including your aunt. Charlie didn’t take the news well at all, and so did you. Only eight years old and still a bit new to a foreign country. It was devistating for you and Charlie. Charlie did what was right and stepped up to be your legal guardian while taking some time off from the military. Till this day, he treats you like his sacred little daughter and you can’t ask for anyone better than him.
 “You are old enough to live on your own and housing is avail-”
You jump at his voice on the line again, being too spaced out from the tragic memory. Before he can go on any longer you cut him off. ‘‘ Im fine with the apartment you left me. Im paying the bills on time and taking good care of it.”
‘‘ Alright fine. But that option is always available you hear me? I will always be ready for you to come with me.’’
‘‘ Okay Charlie” You groan.
‘‘ Alright.. sweetie it’s getting late on this side and it’s already 3 am on your side. Get some sleep okay? Don’t you have a model shoot thingy or something? You have those a lot.’‘
‘‘ Yes i actually do in a couple of hours. It’s been a while since I’ve did a shoot. Please eat and sleep well. Don’t injure yourself.’‘
‘‘ I promise. You promise to do the same right?’‘ He says, rustling movements are in the background.
‘‘ Yes I promise. Good night sleep tight..’‘ You smile as you wait for him to finish the rest.
He chuckles one last time on the other end, ‘‘I’ll always love you, goodnight‘’
Beep Beep Beep
Tumblr media
You in a racy light pink lingerie with white duvets and sheets is the concept of your comeback. It’s supposed to symbolize the “Night After’’. Camera’s click and directors yell and praise you in your subtle yet damaging moves and facial expressions. You want.. no need for this comeback to be successful. Not only did your manager schedule this, but she is making sure that they release this same very day.
Nobody in this company’s industry has ever did this before. But you, you are sort of the special one. The special foreigner as they say. It’s not like you don’t like it but you don’t like that they label you as that. Stylists, employee’s hell even anybody who works there treat you as a princess. It’s not bad, but it’s just weird.
‘‘ One last one. Give me a sexy yet innocent look mama.’‘ Elliot, the director says, smiling wide at you.
You slip a finger into your mouth and do a little pout with your lips.
Elliot busts out into a roar of happiness with his hands clapping furiously. ‘‘That’s it mama yes! That’s just what we needed!’‘
Adjusting his microphone earpiece, he turns around to greet and thank everyone, ‘‘ Alright everybody this concludes our shooting! You all worked so hard today. Make it home safe, eat well.’‘
Finally. You sigh out in relief and close your eyes. It’s been a long day. Almost 6 hours of shooting. Three Videos, and five swap outfits for each session of shooting for the ‘’ Night After’’.  As everyone heads out and starts cleaning up you bow your head slightly and thank them.
A stylist brings you a satin robe to cover yourself in. You thank her and put it on just before getting up from the bed and walking towards wardrobe. Once you are done putting on your clothes, your manager leads you straight out the exit. Outside awaits the car that drives you everywhere. Literally everywhere.
‘‘ Tomorrow somebody has put in a special request for you to appear as the main lead girl in their music video. It’s short notice and I told them I would have to bump some things around and notify you. But they are paying us and you good money to be in it.’‘
Money? Sounds like a plan.
‘‘ It’s fine. Who am I shooting for?’‘ You say, fluffing your hair just a little while inspecting yourself in the rear view mirror.
Your makeup is still intact with no ruins and the contacts they had given you suited you very well. A hazel with a slight bit of teal. Suddenly the car moves off into the busy streets of Seoul. You can’t help but to notice every couple that walks along the sidewalks. They seem so happy, glad to be around each other.
On the floor of the car lies your little mini backpack filled with all of your items and belongings. Picking it up, you begin to dig through it looking for some hand lotion to soothe your semi-dry hands. Once you find it you gently start to squeeze the tube.
‘‘ Kim Namjoon.’‘
You freeze. Namjoon? The same Namjoon from the group? Joonie? It’s been well… a year since you’ve seen him in person. Hell since you’ve seen all of Bangtan Sonyeondan together. Except for lastnight when Hoseok and.. that guy showed up.
You sigh already knowing the answer from the question you are about to ask.
‘‘ From…?’‘ You ask then put the lotion back in your bag. Slowly you rub your hands together to moisturize.
Your manager quickly flips through the daily planner, ‘‘ Bangtan Sonyeodan but this is for one of his mixtape songs.’‘
Thank goodness.
‘‘ That’s fine. What time will the car be arriving tomorrow?’‘
‘‘ 8 am on the dot. You need to be there by 8:30. I’ll be tending to one of my other models tomorrow so you will be alone. I can send som-’‘
‘‘ No no it’s truly okay. I know how to manage things myself. Besides, I learn from you.’‘ You reassure her with one of your winning smiles, laying your head on her shoulder.
‘‘ Aigoo what am I going to do with you?’‘
The day ends very well. The movies you’ve been watching have kept you occupied. But not occupied enough for you to keep crying at all the sad parts in the chick flicks. Breakups, someone had died, someone had even just spilled something onto the floor and that was enough to send you into tears.Only because when the main lead boy rushed to help clean it up, it reminded you of Jimin last-night helping Isabel.
‘’What is going on with myself.’’ You blow your nose into a tissue for what seemed like the thousandth time today. Clara lets out one of her meows beside you then goes back to grooming herself.
You place her onto your lap and begin to run your fingers through her fur over and over again. Such a soothing effect to you as you stare into space sulking in your thoughts.
Why is it that you weren’t enough for him? Why is it that every single little thing reminds you of him? You gave him your all and he gave you his but what happened? Where did you go wrong? Cooked, cleaned, satisfied his needs. You guys had even started to plan out what you wanted out of a family. When you wanted a baby and what you would name it. It was fun. The whole relationship was fun. Right until that scandal.
Ding.. Ding.. Ding.. DI-
You unlock your phone immediately to stop that annoying dinging noise. Not surprisingly it’s a text from Jeon Jungkook.
Kookie : Im coming over I’ll be there in exactly 3 minutes.
Kookie: Don’t think about leaving either.
Kookie: Im bringing someone with me.
Kookie: We need to have a serious talk babycheeks.
You roll your eyes at the nickname he’s given you. No matter how many times you tell him you want him to change it, he declines. There’s no point in asking anymore.
Why would he want to talk anyways and who is the person he’s bringing. Eh.. it might just be Ryan they seem to do everything together as a team.
As soon as you step foot out of your bed the sound the door clicking makes your head shoot up. How in the living hell does he know the password to your house? Rage takes over you. That’s something that you hate. When people invade your personal space. In this case, personal home.
‘‘ Jeon fucking Jungkook!’‘ You scream, abruptly stomping your feet all the way to and out your bedroom door. Suddenly you stop at the sight of the two faces staring back at you.
Jungkook’s expression holds a concerned yet upset face while the other just stands there calm and cool. But you on the other hand are way besides that level.
Your eyes must be filled with rage and the expression on your face is no good. How dare he disrespect you like that? Bringing him into your home, knowing the bad blood between you two. Oh, they both have something coming towards them. You begin to walk to them again making each step make the floor shake.
‘‘ Get out. Both of you. One you invade my personal private home..’‘
You grab both boys by their collars, making sure to grip the one on the right’s harder than usual. ‘‘ Two, you fucking invite him over here.’‘ You drag each of them towards the exit. Which is going good until Jungkook rips your hands away from his shirt and takes you over his shoulder.
You’ve had enough of him and his invasive ways. Pounding on his back with your fists, you make sure to scream into his ear. “ Put me the fuck down Jeon Jungko-”
You hiss at the stinging sensation on your ass. Did he just? Jimin stands there awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. You make sure to make eye contact with him and roll your eyes. Something that always had and will piss him off.
‘‘ Hush. I told you all of us needed to have a deep talk about you.’‘
Jungkook plops your frail body onto one side of the couch in which he sits next to you. He motions for Jimin to come sit across from the both of you but you aren’t having it.
‘‘ Don’t you do it.” You glare at him. Jungkook sighs harshly only to pluck your forehead two times. You whine and rub it with your index and middle finger.
Jungkook shakes his head in disapproval, ‘‘ When are you ever going to learn? Jimin sit down now.”
‘‘ Truthfully.. I feel as though I shouldn’t be here so-”
“ Good. Get out you are unwanted.” You snap back causing him to give you one of his long stares with no facial expression at all.
Jungkook glares at you just before getting up to throw his hands in the air full of disappointment. “ Enough! “
Yelling. Something else you don’t like to hear being done at yourself. You finally sit still and quite avoiding any eye contact with the both of them.
He sits back down and clears his throat. Jungkook gives Jimin a look before continuing on.
‘‘ I gathered us here to talk about you..”
‘‘ Why. Im fine. How many times do I have to say it. Im fine im fine im fine im fucking fine!’‘ You exclaim, getting more mad by the second. When will people accept this?
‘‘ Baby.. ’‘
Your eyes shoot up to him and his soft voice. You didn’t want to but you did because his voice to you is like candy that melts into your mouth.
‘‘ Don’t call me that. You have a girlfriend at-least be loyal to her rather than what you did to me.’‘
‘‘ Fuck is anybody going to just sit here and listen? Can we at-least get to the source of the problem? Huh?’‘ Jungkook leans back into the couch clearly pissed by your attitude.
Jimin’s the first to speak and holds a firm eye contact with you, almost daring you to break away from it.
‘‘ Fine. Im just going to cut straight to it then. Why are you so jealous? You aren’t okay at all. I seen the way you looked at us yesterday. You wanted to break down so bad but you didn’t. It looks like you’ve been dropping weight day by day why aren’t you eating well?’’
You’re taken a-back by his jealous comment. Although you are you just cannot admit it. You are jealous. You do want him back. You cant bear to see him with another girl but you. But the fact that Jimin is concerned makes you really hope. Just hope that there is something left of you still in his heart.
‘‘ Jealous? Jealous tuh.” You scoff, leaning into Jungkook’s arms where you rest his head on your chest. You only do this just to see Jimin’s reaction and by the look on his face he doesn’t enjoy that move one bit.
‘‘ Yes jealous. I mean why else would you put almond extra-
‘‘ Woah. No need to go there. We established that it was a so called accident lastnight.” Jungkook does finger quotes into the air and looks down at you.
You lift your head up and furrow your eyebrows in annoyance, “ So called? So you really believe that I did it on purpose. Wow Jungkook. Escort yourself out.’’
He sighs, wrapping his arms around you securly in hopes of you settling down a  little, “ Honestly it’s not like that. I wasn’t there to see you bake them nor was I watching her eat it. Im just saying that you knew Jimin was coming and obviously his girlfriend was going to come too. It’s a little sketchy is all.”
There’s no fixing what he said. Him adding onto his explanation just made things sound worse than what he’s trying to say. You don’t have time to be ganged up on, nor like it at all. It’s best if they both just leave, to not turn nothing into something.
‘‘ Get out. Now. Before I call and tell Ryan what you said and then she’ll definitely deal with you.’‘ You say, removing yourself from off of him and onto the other side of the couch with your legs crossed.
Mad isn’t even the word to describe yourself right now. You’re just a mixture of all emotions.
Jungkook now looks of sorriness written all over his face. You bite your lip and shake your head while pointing towards the door. He sighs heavily and takes one last look at you while removing himself from the couch. You watch him slip on his coat and shoes.
Jimin gets up from his spot on the couch, ‘‘ I’ll be leav-”
‘‘ Sit down we aren’t done talking.”
He looks at you with his eyebrows furrowed, sitting back down slowly.
Jungkook keeps his head down as he wraps his blue scarf around his neck. Poor baby, but he shouldn’t of said it. “Please better yourself and talk it out with each-other. Im leaving.”
‘‘ Make it home safely.. Kookie.” You sigh once the door closes behind him. Now you’re here. Face to face with Park Jimin.
The same Jimin who cheated on you. The same Jimin you haven’t seen in a while. You take a few moments to take in his appearance. He seems to have re-gained his muscles that are peaking through his black, longsleeve shirt. His thighs are still thick, just like his luscious lips. Of course he changed his hair color to black. But who knows, he might change it again.
‘‘ You’ve been doing well?’‘ You say, voice low but enough for him to hear. You drop your eyes to your lap instead of keeping intact with his.
‘‘ Yes. But you have not. Im disappointed in you. Why are you doing this to yourself? Don’t do this because of me.”
‘‘ Jimin you don’t know the feeling. You don’t know how it feels to be left wondering why you weren’t good enough for someone. Why they had cheated on you. You don’t understand at all and wont ever.’‘ Your voice cracks on the last sentence and you an feel the lump in your throat become sore.
He bites his lip unsure of what to say next. Those words had hit him good inside. ‘‘ Im sorry. I truly am. But you know the reason why we had to end it. I fucked up bad and the media was making the scandal bigger and messier day by day. It was better to just call it off.’‘
One by one your tears start to drop. You nose begins it’s running trip but you sniffle it back up.
‘‘ You could of denied it. You know you could of made a statement and denied it. But you felt something for her didn’t you? Didn’t you?’‘ You semi-yell, sobs already starting to take it’s way over.
He bites his lip once again and ruffles his fingers through his hair, “ Baby..’’
You wipe your tears with your hands making your face even more puffy from the crying. “ I am jealous. I am I admit it Jimin. But do you know i have been suffering for one year and two months? I can’t sleep at night because im so used to your touch at night. I look at every couple in Seoul and think to myself, Dang they seem so happy. What’s their secret?’’
Jimin sits up, making eye contact with you with tears welling up into his eyes. It hurt’s you more than yourself to see him crying. It always has.
‘‘ Please don’t do that. Don’t do this to yourself. Please get help from someone to try and move on. Please. I don’t like to see or hear you make yourself suffer.’ He begs, getting up from his seat and coming towards you.
Jimin sits next to you, hesitantly opening his arms up to you. Would it be wrong to embrace him? He’s being too sincere, but thats what you want right? You decide to just do it, and lean into him only for him to pull you in closer into his chest.You just lay there crying and sobbing while he runs his fingers through your hair. You shouldn’t be doing this. He has a girlfriend. But it feels so right.
‘‘ What does she have that I don’t? Why couldn’t you love me the same way you love her “  You cry into his chest, soaking his shirt with your tears.
You’d been waiting for this moment to just let it out. Let everything out.
‘’ Please don’t make this harder than what it is right now. Just try and forget me and move on. Please.” Hypocritcal. How does he expect you to get over him when he’s the one whos holding you so tight right now. Soon enough his sniffles join yours in harmony.
You raise your head up and look him deep into the eyes while you wipe away his tears, “ Don’t cry Jimin. I’m the one supposed to be crying over you. Don’t cry.’’
He takes your hand away from his face and wraps his fist ontop of yours, “Please promise me you will move on okay?’’
You shake your head no, “ I can’t make that promise.”
He doesn’t say anything. He gently cradles you in his arms and lifts you up. You don’t think to where he is going. You just close your eyes and grab onto his shirt firmly not wanting to let go.
Soon enough you feel the cold sheets over your bed. He covers you in the duvet and leans down to your forehead.  A kiss. Your fist is still locked onto his shirt in which he tries to pry it away but you don’t want to let him go. He sighs and raises his arms up as he takes off the shirt revealing an extra plain white wife beater under it. Taking your other hand, he wraps your hand into another fist onto the shirt to where both of your hands are holding onto it.
‘‘ Please better yourself for me baby. Sleep and eat well. “
Is all he says before turning off the lights and walking out your bedroom door.  You can hear him putting on and zipping up his heavy coat but you just don’t make a sound.
The apartment door clicks and beeps letting you know he’s already gone.

Description: Jay’s powers go a little funky when he sleeps, Cole’s POV
~~~~~~~~~~~
The sound of the tv and faint breathing were the only things to be heard. Lloyd and Kai sat on the floor in front of it with Zane perched on the nearby chair. Jay was laying on the couch curled up, a blanket haphazardly thrown across him while Cole had managed to squeeze his way onto the the other end. The volume was low, for at some point Jay had fallen asleep as they were all tired. It was a lazy day, with low crime and sensei gone, they had the freedom to do as they pleased. Cole let out a yawn and leaned back, sinking further into the worn fabric. Unusually high stress had plagued the whole team as of late and it was important they take some time to themselves, FSM knows they needed it.
Lloyd muttered something to Kai about the show, a cartoon of Lloyd’s choosing, and he responded teasingly in kind earning himself a shove. They tousled a bit and laughed before being lightly reprimanded by Zane to keep their voices down. Lloyd stuck his young out and Kai simply roles his eyes. Cole chuckled a little at their antics then resumed watching, not his particular cup of tea but it soothes him nonetheless and he felt himself start to drift off as well.
After a moment the sound of chatter once again assaulted his ears pulling him from unconsciousness, he attempted to ignore it but sensed the movement of others and opened his eyes. The tv had glitched and multicolored greens and purples covered portions of the screen. Lloyd looked like he was trying to lightly smack it, as if though that would bring it back into working order.
“It’s probably just poor signal, give it a minute” Kai interjected. Lloyd sat back with a huff as the screen seemed to glitch and jump, the audio came and went with it. Cole glanced at the remote half tempted to just change the channel and switch to something more interesting and functional.  Jay was forbidden from touching it, the remote tended to do strange things when the master of lightning held it.
With a crackle the TV fell into static before giving a sharp pop and turning black. Shouts and groans of annoyance were quickly shushed by Zane before he made a move to inspect the seemingly broken piece of machinery. But just before he could reach the cable It flickered back to life.
The colors were muted with patches of glitched video feed jumping across the screen. It seemed to come in and out of focus with the edges fading to a black. Although the most obvious was the change in graphics, the film wasn’t a cartoon to start, it was in the middle of a jungle, with broad leaved plants being pushed to the side as someone ran through it. The faint sound of panting breath whispered through the speakers, there was a loud crack of a broken branch, and a screeching-hiss of some beast.
“Some first-person adventure movie?” Kai suggested. “The channel should not have changed on its own,” Zane reasoned. “Maybe it picked a new one ‘cause the old one glitched out,” He countered. “It is not programmed to-“ As Kai and Zane argued TV mechanics Cole was already moving for the remote and Lloyd sat watching the new show, ever curious, and never one to turn down something with action.
Cole attempted to change the channel, at least to something with better quality, but found the remote un-compliant. He tried adjusting the batteries, and when that proved futile, he tried to turn it off still to no avail.
Zane sighed giving into Kai’s stubbornness and returned his attention to the television reaching into the back to mess with some wires “Just unplug it and plug it back in,” Kai chimed in. “That’s what I am doing,” Zane huffed. There was a click and he poked his head back around glaring at the still playing TV before returning to the cables. The volume was increasing in a few decibels with each moment.
“Cole, turn the volume down will ya?” “Can’t, he answered shortly, “remotes busted.” “Oh great, you probably broke the whole thing Lloyd.” He didn’t answer, to enraptured with the wild chase on screen. They all watched as the protagonist tripped sliding down an embankment with an indistinguishable yelp. They got up quickly grunting in pain making another sprint away from the beast chasing them.
“Bet it’s a Grundle,” Kai commented offhandedly. Lloyd sniffed, “Grundle don’t sound like that.” “Producers don’t know that” He countered.
Zane stepped away from the TV, a curious expression on his face. “I have already disconnected the power cable, but it still seems to be running.” “Can it do that?” Cole wondered. “No”
The adventurer skidded to a halt in front of a large ravine, the bridge had collapsed, they were trapped. The same echoing-scream, closer this time, made them snap their head around backing as far away from the forest as possible. Cole felt a pressure against his leg and looked down seeing Jay’s foot prodding into his side.
“Turn it off” Kai commanded. “How do you suggest I to do that, break it?” Zane asked, bewildered. “Sure, whatever, I just don’t feel like dealing with weird TV magic today,” He reasoned. Lloyd groaned, “You can’t, we already busted the TV earlier this month, Wu won’t let us get a new one.”
Cole blocked out their conversation and looked up at Jay’s face, half concealed by the blanket, and caught his rapid breath covered by the sound of the television. He slightly shuttered and twitched curling back in on himself. Cole, now concerned, moved closer and extended his arm attempting to examine him.
The TV screeched at high volume, demanding their attention, as a massive black figure burst through the underbrush. It skittered towards its cornered prey, only pausing a moment to extend its dripping fangs exposing its large spider form. It snapped, closing its jaws over top the hero in an instant.
The TV exploded with smoke the same time Jay sat bolt upright accidentally smacking Cole’s hand away in the process. Everyone reeled trying to process the scenario as Zane coated it in a layer of ice hoping to minimize the damage.
“Great, now we won’t be able to watch anything for a week” Lloyd smacked Kai for his insensitivity and moved over to check on Jay.
He let out a few more gasps trying to still his breathing before speaking. “W-what, happened?” Jay implored. “The TV exploded, nothing to worry about, sorry if we startled you,” Lloyd soothed. He looked at Lloyd then at the busted screen before settling down still looking slightly dazed. “Just the TV, yeah,” He agreed mindlessly. Cole glared at him with contemplation.
“Did you have a nightmare,” He pried. Jay stared at him with owl eyes. He chuckled nervously, “M-maybe a little one, nothing to worry about though.” They all gave doubtful looks, assessing his twitchy behavior. As much as Jay loved the spotlight, this sort of attention was not favorable. Jay smiled.
“Seriously guys I’m fine,” He said with the wave of his hand, “look, I’ll fix the TV and in the meantime you guys can make lunch, I’m craving a pastrami sandwich, and once it’s done we can all watch the recording. Sound good?” Everyone seemed skeptical still but after a moment muttered their agreement and moved to their designated locations.
Cole was obviously excluded from the lunch plan and settled back into the couch resolving to watch Jay work. The whole situation was strange to say the least. The TV going haywire and the strange movie it played left him with questions. Although he didn’t have much time to contemplate as he had to wrestle the vacuum away from Jay to keep him from dismantling it for parts…again. But before he walked out to find the missing pieces, Cole stopped him.
“Hey, for real man, what was your nightmare about?” Jay just shrugged. “I don’t know, something about spiders.” He pulled away then, leaving Cole stunned and unable to question him further. Obviously, he wasn’t going to say any more on the subject.
Cole struggled to come up with an answer but simply shook his head. There was nothing more he could do for the subject if Jay wasn’t willing to talk, which was ironic in itself. It was strange both the movie and his nightmare both had to do with spiders, but there was no way to say they correlated in any way. This was enough trouble for one day. He settled back into the couch trying to clear his mind. Eventually Jay returned and not long after everyone had finished. They ate their lunch and re-watched Lloyd’s cartoon from the beginning (so Jay could see the parts he had missed). The rest of the afternoon was as quiet as it could be in the Ninja household. Cole couldn’t help thinking about what Jay had said though.
But it was just a coincidence…right?
A Note From Staff
It has been a few months since the world has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even today as we approach Summer it still feels very surreal. Every day the situation is changing and it can be overwhelming with the amount of information available, thanks to being interconnected because of the internet. We are still witnessing friends who are struggling during this time as people in their life are directly impacted by COVID-19, artists who continue to be in dire situations with their livelihoods at stake, students whose plans have been entirely disrupted, and how everyone is collectively adjusting in this weird time.
At Pillowfort our team works remotely. We have been routinely keeping in contact with each other during this time as we are spread across the United States. Rest assured, our team is continuing to adhere to the CDC guidelines of social distancing, washing our hands, and self isolating when sick.
Our message is the same as it was three months ago: it is still important now than ever to continue sharing creativity in your own time. Don’t give up sharing the light you have to bring. It is in times like these that the arts, humor, and communication in general are important to bring hope to so many.
Hope reminds us how wonderful humanity can be. Thanks to the internet we have seen beauty from all across the globe. In a way, social media has become quite important lately in helping people feel connected to others even as we are physically separated. We can use our space here to make the world feel a little less lonely than it would otherwise. Just letting someone know you’ve seen them, and sharing your own thoughts with them, means more than ever now.
Our thoughts continue to be with the entire Pillowfort community during this time. You are not alone. Please take breaks away from the news if you have to. Unplug from time to time. Don’t feel guilty for resting. Catch up on shows you have been meaning to watch. Listen to that album you’ve been putting off.  Take a nap. Self care is so important right now.
Thank you for being part of our lives. While we may not have met each of you individually, your presence helps shape Pillowfort into what it is.  We hope Pillowfort can be a place to bring some joy to all of you in some manner during this time.
Site Wide Re-Design Update
Our team has been hard at work the last couple of months on a complete overhaul of our interface. We are excited to share a sneak peek of our upcoming makeover. We have taken all of the feedback from our Community to both modernize our look and to improve user accessibility. Please note the final product release may be subject to change from the prototype we are sharing today.
I took vacation from work last week and we went to some really stunning outdoor places less than 30 minutes from my front door because it be like that when you live in the Pacific Northwest.
I
Live
Tumblr media
Here!
I live here! I was born and raised here! I'm so lucky! I didn't even realise how lucky I was until I was a whole adult! I have rivers and mountains and trees and fields and flowers and green and blue and even beaches and desert if I go just a little bit further than I did last week!
I took my partner because they're from out of state and they love the landscape here. I'm not convinced they didn't move here more for it than me (jk jk 💚) I took my kids because, my god, it's awe inspiring and makes you feel both so connected and so insignificant in a really good way, I want them to see it.
I want them to see it.
I want them to see it before it's gone.
When I was a kid way back in the early 90s I remember in school they really harped on recycling and global warming and the hole in the ozone layer and science and about how we had to work really hard to save the world and none of it seemed real. None of it seemed real while we had a foot or two of snow a couple times every winter and summer days sometimes dipped below 70 degrees and every spring and fall was so full of precipitation I never batted an eye about wearing flipflops in a thunder storm.
It was 116 degrees yesterday.
That's the hottest it's been here, ever.
Which would just be a wacky thing that happened in a storied history of wacky things happening here like mountains blowing their tops or exploding whales or bigfoot.
Except now every time something like this happens I go over the frightening and lengthening list of all the wacky climate-related changes that have happened since I was a kid with my kids who have been here only a decade give or take and my partner who has been here less than a year.
Because I need them to know.
I tell them about the mountain in the first picture (and it's cousin, Mt. Hood, not pictured but also visible from my every day life) almost always being covered in snow before. How eerie it's been maybe the last five years to see the snow almost gone by mid-June and not return until the middle of winter. For the snow to go so fast this year that it was only a few cloudy days where it was invisible and when it reappeared it had transformed.
That there were wildfires down the river a couple years ago so near to where the second and third pictures were taken that I wouldn't have been able to take them that year. When it rained ash from the fires so much people compared it to the aftermath of the explosion of Mt. St. Helens in the 70s. I had never seen ash raining in my life before. That I wouldn't have been able to have driven east past the freeway exit I take to pick my one kid up from their other parent's house because the fires were that close.
The second picture was taken from past the next exit east.
And in the third picture there are brown patches I'm not convinced aren't scars from those fires.
And those weren't even the fires last year that choked us so bad they closed school right after it had re-opened from COVID.
As a kid, I never got to stay home from school due to air quality so bad we didn't have a scale to measure it.
As a kid, I never heard on the news about cities who's names I knew and who's streets I had set foot on being evacuated due to wildfires.
Or destroyed.
As a kid I never had to leave my house because the air was so bad and the edge of the evacuation map for the local wildfire kept inching closer and closer to my address; leave to go stay with family on the west side where there were other wildfires also burning worryingly near. I never had to do that like one of my children did last fall.
Those are the big ones among the hotter and hotter summers, the drier and drier winters, the strangely off-season March snow flurries, and all the other little changes I've seen happen in about 20 years.
And now it was 116 degrees yesterday and it's real. This is real. Climate change is real and I don't know how anyone who thinks it isn't can be taken seriously and given a platform.
I had to bite my tongue and fold my hands tonight to keep myself from grabbing my kiddo by the shoulders and looking in his eyes and scaring him by telling him "Look! Look at all these beautiful places we go! When we have picnics! When we go on drives! Look at the trees and the water - you've touched the water! The cold, cold water! It's amazing! It's so amazing and wonderful and there are people who want to take it from us. From you. From your children, should you have them. From tourists who come to see it and are humbled by it and better for it. From our friends and family and neighbors and all the people who will move here and grow to love this land as much as we do because of how majestic it is. We have to do something! We have to save it! I'm so sorry we didn't do better before! Maybe when you grow up you can save the world!" Because if I want him to grow up well adjusted enough to have a chance to be able to do anything about any of this a good place to start is probably not being an unhinged, frightened parent shouting at a 9 year old about climate change.
Which I guess is probably what my teachers were trying to say almost 30 years ago.
Which is why I'm making this post. Because I need somewhere safe to be a little bit unhinged about how all of this feels.
Because I need you to know.
I don't have any answers. That's not what this post is about. Recycling and unplugging our appliances and driving our cars less aren't going to do it. COVID proved a lot of the "start at home" tactics are futile. There are a handful of entities doing this to the world and with a pretty cursory Google search you can find out who. If you're in the US, write emails or letters or place phone calls to your elected officials at every level of government. Call out idiots who are trying to protect financial interests and not the livability of our world. Write emails and letters and place phone calls to media that give those idiots platforms. Vote. Go outside and touch grass and look around you and see what you have to lose. Don't lose hope, Science(TM) keeps saying this is reversible.
I'm sorry to my, like, 8 followers this was so long... I just had a lot of feelings tonight ❤
If you want a prompt for small town AU, what about clexa getting out of town for a day and either taking a road trip or heading to a city close by? That way they can have some time to themselves
Clarke woke up to a beam of warm golden sun hitting her face. She closed her eyes tightly and stretched her stiff muscles. She breathed a deep sigh of relief out of her nose as her fuzzy mind remembered it was Saturday and she didn’t have to rush off to school.
She rolled over and grabbed her phone from her nightstand, unplugging the charging cord and trying to get her bleary eyes to focus on the much too bright screen.
Lexa’s name appeared in a text notification and Clarke sat up in bed, a rush of adrenaline coursing to each of her limbs as she unlocked her phone and read the waiting message.
‘I need to drive into the city to pick up a part for my truck. Can you come???’
Clarke felt an extra surge of energy pulse in the pit of her stomach as she thought about a full day away from everyone, but Lexa. She pulled back her blankets and nearly toppled out of her bed as she started getting ready for the day. She threw her pajamas somewhere near her hamper as she thought of what lies to tell her mom to let her go into the city for the day.
She finished dressing and looked at herself in the mirror. Clarke wanted to look cute, but not like she was trying too hard just for a trip into the city.
Clarke ran down the stairs two at a time and had to slow herself before she walked into the kitchen. She worked hard to keep her face neutral as she did a quick scan of the room, but only saw her dad sitting at the table sipping a cup of coffee and looking over some sort of playbook. No doubt trying to plan some sort of offense for the big football game the coming Sunday.
“Where’s-uh-where’s mom?” Clarke tried to sound as casual as possible while she walked over and grabbed a glass from the cupboard next to the fridge.
“She’s in appointments all day today. She mentioned us ordering pizza, so you know it’ll be a long day.” Jake Griffin didn’t really look up from the page he was taking in. So he missed the grin that pulled at Clarke’s lips hearing that her mother would be gone for the entire day.
“Do you think you’d be okay on your own?” Clarke opened the fridge and grabbed the orange juice, turning around to see Jake was no longer looking at the papers in front of him. He only had eyes for his daughter.
“Why? What do you have planned?” Jake reached down without looking and grabbed his coffee cup to take a sip without breaking eye contact.
“A couple friends were talking about going into the city. I was going to see if I could go with them.” Clarke poured the orange juice and gave a shrug of indifference as she finished speaking. She didn’t want her dad to know she was dying to go. She hoped he would think she didn’t mind either way.
Clarke put the jug of juice back in the fridge and turned to see that her dad was once again looking down at his papers.
“Will you be back before curfew?” He asked, reaching over and taking a long sip of coffee.
Clarke almost choked on the mouthful of orange juice she had just taken in with her excitement to respond.
“Yeah-yes. I’ll be back way before curfew. I swear.” Clarke tried to cover her sputtering cough with her sleeve.
“Fine, leave me by my lonesome.” Jake joked, waving his daughter off to go have fun.
Clarke downed the rest of her juice and laughed. “Yeah, like you won’t be locked in your study going over game tape for tomorrow.” Clarke felt like she was floating as she walked back toward the stairs to go tell Lexa she could go out.
“Hey!” Jake called, right as she got to the doorway. Clarke’s heart stopped and she turned to look at her dad who was looking at her with disappointment. “Who raised you?” He asked, pointing to the glass Clarke had left on the counter.
“Oh, sorry dad.” Clarke felt a rush of relief wash over her as she walked over to grab her glass and rinse it in the sink.
“Have fun, see you later tonight,” Jake smiled, as Clarke walked by and out of the kitchen.
Less than 20 minutes later and Clarke was driving down the main freeway out of their town and to the city. It was like Clarke could finally breathe once they left the town’s limits.
Clarke felt pressure on her thigh and looked down to see Lexa’s hand resting there. She smiled, looking out the window at the long stretch of nothing that was between them and the city. It was the most peaceful she had felt in months. The town had become so suffocating and home was no different. There was no escape from the walls as they kept closing in on her.
“Whatcha thinking about?” Lexa asked, giving Clarke’s leg a squeeze.
“How damn good it feels to be out of that fucking town.” Clarke moved her hand on top of Lexa’s and laced their fingers together.
Lexa smiled and picked up their intertwined hands and brought them to her lips, placing a kiss on Clarke’s hand.
“I’m glad you came.”
Clarke moved over as far as her seatbelt would allow and rested her head on Lexa’s shoulder. She closed her eyes and listened to the soft sounds coming from the radio and Lexa’s rhythmic breathing just above her. If she could bottle this moment and live it whenever she wanted to, she’d do it in a second.
“You gonna fall asleep on me?” Lexa chuckled, moving her shoulder to make Clarke’s head bop a bit.
“No, no.” Clarke opened her eyes and smiled moving back to her seat and squeezing Lexa’s hand. “We just don’t get many moments like this. When we can feel…”
“Normal?” Lexa finished Clarke’s sentence.
Clarke hadn’t really let it hit her until she heard Lexa say it. They weren’t allowed to be themselves in their town. They were always hiding and forced to be ashamed of loving each other. Clarke didn’t want to feel that way, it wasn’t fair to not feel comfortable in your home.
“Yeah...it sucks.” Clarke’s mood shifted and she felt like she was being dragged down a mountain hitting trees and rocks all the way down.
“Hey, don’t let those fuckers get in your head today.” Lexa reached over and grabbed Clarke’s thigh again. “They don’t get to have today, it’s ours.”
Clarke gave her head a shake and tried to push those thoughts out of her head. Lexa was right, they didn’t get to ruin their day.
“I’m back. Let’s have a good day.” Clarke looked over and smiled at her girlfriend.
They drove for a little while in peaceful silence. Clarke played with the fingers on Lexa’s free hand as the city came into view on the horizon.
Lexa parked the car on a side street just off the main drag of the city.
“I need coffee before we do anything else.” Lexa hopped out of the car and reached for Clarke’s hand. She instinctively pulled back, looking around to see that no one around them was even paying attention.
“Sorry,” Clarke looked back to Lexa who still had her hand outstretched. “Force of habit.”
Clarke reached out and took Lexa’s hand, feeling her heart flutter as they started toward the coffee shop. It was a freeing feeling to walk down the street, their hands intertwined swinging between them and no one giving them a second look. They could be invisible here, just blend in with the crowd.
They grabbed coffee and sipped it as they walked around on the beautiful, sunny Saturday.
Lexa found a park a few blocks away from the coffee shop and they decided to spend some time together out in the warm sun. It was just on the verge of fall so the air had just a little bite to it. Clarke loved this type of weather.
Clarke leaned over and pressed a kiss to Lexa’s cheek. “Can we just stay here?”
Lexa reached over and put her arm around Clarke’s waist, moving her closer as they sat on the grass.
“You mean live here...in this park?” Lexa laughed. “I mean it may not be great once winter hits, but if you’re here then I’m here.” Lexa kissed Clarke’s lips, lingering for a long moment before pulling away.
“Listen, I’ve wanted to ask you something for a while now. I’m just not sure how you’ll feel about it.” Lexa adjusted her position so she was looking directly at Clarke.
For some reason, Clarke felt her heartbeat start to pick up. She had no idea what Lexa was about to ask her, but her brain was thinking of all the worst case scenarios.
“O-Okay.” Clarke’s voice caught in her throat. Her mouth was suddenly painfully dry.
“I know it’s a long way off,” Lexa started, reaching down and starting to pull out blades of grass. “But with it being so close to the end of the school year....and we were already both accepted to college...I was thinking maybe we could go to prom together.”
Clarke’s jaw went slack as Lexa finished speaking. She hadn’t even thought about prom. There was still nearly a full school year to get through before prom.
Clarke let herself imagine getting to go to prom with Lexa. Picking out their outfits, taking pictures out by the lake, dancing together in the gym with stupid decorations hanging around them. It would be amazing, but not possible. It would be too easy for people to talk and if word got back to her parents, they’d find a way to keep her out of college. They’d find a way to lock her in her room and away from Lexa forever.
“I don’t know…” Clarke pursed her lips together, trying to push the happy images from her mind. Her only goal was getting out of their town so she could finally be with Lexa and her parents wouldn’t be able to stop her.
“Nevermind..” Lexa cleared her throat and tossed the clump of grass she had pulled out next to her. “It was a stupid idea, forget I mentioned it.”
Clarke saw a few red splotches appear on Lexa’s cheeks. It had been hard for Lexa to ask her about prom. She knew the risks just like Clarke did. Maybe it wouldn’t matter once it was time for prom.
“No, no. Don’t say that. It’s not stupid.” Clarke took both of Lexa’s hands and waited until her girlfriend looked up and locked eyes with her. “I want to go to prom with you. I just don’t want to risk our future for one night. You know what my mom is capable of and I don’t want her fucking this up for us.”
Lexa relaxed a little as Clarke spoke. She wasn’t shooting down Lexa’s idea, she just wanted to be safe about what they did while they were still in town.
“Let’s say if we think it seems like a good idea at the time we do it. If not, we have our own afterparty on prom night.” Clarke wiggled her eyebrows suggestively.
Lexa laughed and Clarke watched the rest of her hesitation melt away.
“Deal.” Lexa reached over and kissed Clarke. “But I’m getting you flowers either way.”
Clarke smiled against Lexa’s lips. “Deal.”
Fourth Taste
Summary: Emperor Lotor finally achieves his life-long goal.
★ Disclaimer: I do not ship Lotura and I respectfully ask that this story to not be tagged as Lotura. This is a Lotor x Reader/Self-Insert OC story which is in no way related to Allura at all. Please be respectful of my chosen pairing.  ★
Warnings: N/A.
A/N: In light of S8, I am making my own canon interpretations.
Sight Series: Part One___Part Two___Part Three___Part Four
Allura was never one for sitting idly when there was work to be done. She supposed that was another thing she had in common with Lotor. With their advancements on the Sincline ships thanks to her knowledge gained from Oriande, it would only be a matter of time before her - their goal of peace can be achieved. So, why then, was she here of all places?
“Hm,” you removed the stethoscope from her back then unplugged them from your ears, “When was the last time you had a good night's rest?”
“Oh, I...A few days ago, just after we planned to bring in leaders from neighboring planets for a diplomatic - “ she paused, noticing you staring unblinkingly and rather sternly at her, “Ah, yes, well, I suppose it has been quite some time.”
“You may feel fine, Allura, but the overexertion is taking a bigger toll on you than you think.” Arms crossed, you glanced down at your screen, “The reason why you fainted earlier could be due to stress.” “Doctor, I appreciate your concern, but I’m fine, really. Coran has been making sure I eat my meals and Lotor even suggested I get myself checked out. That’s why I am here. I assure you, I’ve never felt better.”
Silence. If there was one thing she found unnerving, it was that you were always the quiet, unflinching type. Your eyes never left hers, but Allura stood firm and smiled softly to show that, really, this was unnecessary. Alteans and humans have different bodies and tolerance levels for stress, so the Princess was unsure why you were intent on keeping her here any longer when she could be helping Lotor.
“Your blood pressure is a little high and I noticed an odd heart palpitation during the examination. Allura, both of these combined can be the cause of your fainting spell. Are you aware of any heart conditions or possible illnesses that would otherwise affect your daily activities?”
She was an alchemist. These body issues are something she doesn’t understand. She opened her mouth to answer, but found that she didn’t actually have one.
“How long has this been going on? The stress.”
Allura shook her head, knowing that denying won’t help, “Aren’t we all stressed from this war? I must do everything I can to help, surely you understand.”
“I do understand - “
Part of her really doubted that and much of that doubt came from her distrust in you.
“-but Allura, you are more helpful alive than stuck in a coma.”
“What do you mean?”
“I have been with you since Shiro located me. I have made sure you’re all in top fighting form, both in body and mind,” a pause as you gathered your thoughts carefully, “I know of your sacrifices, your many sacrifices, and as a doctor, I would like to make sure you are fine mentally. It may not be obvious, but mental health can have direct consequences on the body if left untreated over a long period of time.”
“Doctor, I assure you, I am not mentally ill,” a tone of finality, of we will speak of this no more.
Allura shifted off the table to fully stand, the conversation making her slightly uncomfortable. She was a PRINCESS. She was fine, she knows her limits, why weren’t you listening to her? No matter, there were more important things to do at hand. She was not crazy or whatever you were hinting at. She was NOT. She was just...tired. Yes. She needed rest.
You thought otherwise based on your expertise, but there was nothing you could do to make her see that maybe, just maybe, the life and death sacrifices, the times she survived, the fighting, supporting Voltron, all of it, were red flags at a crumbling mentality. Yes, this is war. No one you knew came out the same or even sane. You knew that all too well.
“Alright. The quintessence in your body is being drained at an exceedingly fast rate, which I can only assume is because of the Sincline ships being created.” Turning to the cabinet, you read over the labels carefully, “Ah. Here. This medicinal powder is made from Balmeran herbs. Mix it in your drink in the morning and it should rejuvenate your body from over straining your quintessence levels. Do not forget to rest more.”
If there was one thing you would need time adjusting to, it was technology. Not so much the weapons or the ships. You were familiar with the medical tools at your disposal, but the simple things like this tended to really bring home the fact that you were in space. You were far from the planet you were born in, even if it looked exactly the same last time you were there.
The sand. The ocean. The clouds and the palm trees and the little crabs scuttling away from you. And yet...
Lotor’s footsteps echoing the room was the only thing reminding you this was not real. You turned to face his approaching form, the door behind blending perfectly with the technological mirage. You won’t lie, he stuck out like a sore thumb. Full body armor in an otherwise peaceful paradise - well, a paradise to others - wasn’t exactly fun in the sun wear.
“A beach?” he stated, taking a few seconds to observe the details around him. “You know, good doctor, you are by no means tethered here with ball and chain. If you wish to take a personal leave, I can provide you with an escort to the nearest aquatic planet.”
The Emperor crouched and sat besides you as the imitation waves lapped at both of your covered feet, then after a few seconds, you spoke up, “That’s not necessary. I was just curious to see if this room worked as well as I heard. The Castle of Lions has the same simulator chambers, but it isn’t suited for any other species except Alteans.”
This was such a peaceful scene. The sun was setting, throwing the sky under a spill of angry red and fiery orange rays. Birds were skimming across the horizon. The glow, oh, the glow was just as you remembered it. The sound of rustling trees tingled your ears despite the fact that there was no wind brushing against your skin. No spray of the ocean, no chill of an oncoming night. No wetness from the water.
Fake, but real enough.
“Hunk helped re-calibrate some of the more...technical settings. I was just the guinea pig,” fingers raked through the sand, but you felt none of the grainy texture, “You may change it, if you want.”
“On the contrary, I would like to see more,” Lotor suggested, but you refused him with a shake of your head, “No? Then may I ask about this place?”
You nodded.
“This is Earth, I presume? Your home?”
“No, not mine. My father’s home. This is where he was born,” short answer, but it was detailed enough for him, “...I visited after he died, when I was honorably discharged. This was my first time seeing it.”
Now, Lotor was no blind man. He was no fool. For every moment you shared with him, he took with an ounce of gratitude. Expecting any more than you were willing to give would only make his itch unbearably annoying to hold back. Tempering himself to not push so hard, not yet, the act of discovery is only half the fun, was difficult. So, he liked to work with what he got.
“The ocean swallowed his home island the year after. It doesn’t exist anymore.”
“You miss it,” Lotor stated based on the far-away glaze in your eyes.
“I miss what I could’ve experienced growing up there. But miss it? No, not particularly,” perhaps the disconnect should have worried you after all this time, “Do you have something like that, my Emperor?”
Somewhere he missed, somewhere he could have experienced great things growing up there? Yes, but the simulator works off memories and how could he possibly have memories of extinct planets? Lotor closed his eyes, letting the computer change the room from soothing sunsets to complete darkness, then slowly rebuilt from the ground up. White water, a pinkened sky, ancient buildings of Altean knowledge.
“Where is this?” your curious voice asked, clearly interested in this somewhat heaven-esque world.
“Oriande. Beautiful, is it not?”
You said nothing, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. Pretty? Yes, but what truly made a place special was the context behind it and you were interested in what story he had to share, what piece of himself he gave in return for your vulnerability. A fair exchange of sorts, one you both agreed to long ago.
“I always wanted to be an explorer when I was younger and finding Oriande was the pinnacle of my discovery,” he started with a bit of a bitter undertone, “An honorably revered homage to the Alteans of old and the secrets they keep there. Truly, it was an experience I would never forget.”
Yes, he did not gain the knowledge of alchemy, but just finding the place was good enough. Just one of his childhood dreams achieved, to retain a piece of his lost heritage. You two soaked in the ambiance of the view. Him, reflecting on his actions and his choices. You, committing that his lost Altean history is what pushed him to strive for the urge of discovery in the first place.
Soon enough, the imagery faded and the lights revealed an empty, blank room, “Shall we, good doctor? I believe I have an appointment with you soon.”
Lotor stood to his full height, a hand held out in offering. You accepted with little hesitation on your end.
“Emperor Lotor, I have a request.”
Both of them paused their work to face you, Allura from the ship and Lotor from the screen. Normally, it would be ideal to take whatever proper procedures you needed to formally ask for access, but by now you figured that you were somewhat in the Emperor’s good graces. You approached him just as the Princess grouped up, as well.
“What is it, good doctor? Did you need more of my blood samples?”
“No, I have enough,” you pulled out the black vial and Allura’s brows rose, “I’d like to have access to the quintessence stock in order for me to experiment with combining its properties with this.”
Ah, yes. The miracle drug that saved your life. He was able to break down the components with the sample you gave him, but was otherwise unable to explore its properties any further. Perhaps this would be the perfect opportunity for you to carry on his work while he continued with -
“Absolutely not,” Allura spoke, making both heads turn, “Certain quintessence can lead to harmful effects if used improperly.” “I am aware. I have read about it and this is why I believe it can help completely bypass the after effects when administering this drug,” you argued back, perhaps a little offended she thought so careless of you, “If it works, then I can mass produce this and aid those who need it. Like the Coalition forces. I know they lack medical supplies for refugees- “
“We can not risk over exposure of quintessence to those who are sensitive to it,” the Princess interrupted, your lip twitched, “Perhaps after the ships are made, I can lend a hand with your research. This is too dangerous work with alone.”
You kept your lips sealed in a firm line, completely unsatisfied with her answer. Yes, you read Honerva’s research. Yes, you finished reading upon Galra biology down to a molecular level. Yes, you knew what you were doing. Using the drug on yourself proved it worked with humans, but other species? Galras? Taujereens? Olkarions? You must perfect it before introducing it to other scientists for aid.
Lotor placed a hand on her shoulders, “Allura, I think this is an excellent opportunity at hand. Doctor, I will give you access to certain strains of quintessence that our own medical officers have used before. There are some notes on file when I started my own experiments with the Witigue drug. They are yours.”
“Thank you, my Emperor,” you gave him a curt nod, “When the both of you have the time, I would appreciate it if you overlooked my work. It would help to have pairs of fresh eyes to collaborate with me and make sure the quintessence is as useful as weapons as it is for healing.”
Allura’s concerned expression only grew more worried. Infusing quintessence and medicine? Nothing of the sort has been done before since quintessence on its own was already useful, though she knew not every unique body would accept it without harmful after effects. Perhaps Lotor was right. The sooner you cracked the code, created a drug every species can use, then the sooner the people can start healing from the war.
You stared holes into her back as she walked away. This was why you willingly joined Lotor. She held you back whereas he encouraged your freedom. And yet, it still did not get through to her that she may be a Princess, but you were not her subject. And you swore you would never blindly take orders from higher ups again.
“Anything else I can help you with, doctor?”
“Not now. We shall discuss more...later.”
Lotor was a man of luxury. Did he have it in his life? During his exiled years, no, he did not. He struggled some nights to survive the cold and there were days he was ever so grateful to have a roof over his head. Now, as Emperor, it took awhile for him to adjust to the lush lifestyle. Imagine his surprise when he found you sitting on the edge of his bed, patiently waiting for him.
“Are the rooms not up to your standards, darling?”
“No, they are fine, my Emperor.”
His ears twitched at that title leaving your lips.
“Then, pardon my assumption, do you wish to sleep here tonight?” he boldly suggested with an easy, welcoming smile on his lips.
“Perhaps, but that’s not why I am here,” you said, “I wanted to give you an update on my research. If you have the time, that is.”
“Allura has decided to call it a night and there is not much I can do without her alchemic powers. Come, may I join you?”
What an odd thing to hear. Lotor asking permission to be in his own bed. An Emperor, nonetheless. Either way, you nodded, and he headed to his closet to begin undressing. You turned away to give him some modesty while he stripped his armor off. Since when did it bother you to look at him? You’ve seen his body in the office. This...this was a different setting.
“I managed to isolate the compound that triggers the residual pain - “
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see him starting to peel his body suit down to his hips before slipping on a modest shirt.
“- and the medical officers were able to greatly help speed up the process. We have not yet tested it - “
Lotor tugged the rest of his suit down, letting it fall as he stepped out of it. The dark room did well to shadow his chiseled body and make his sharp features look even more prominent. His toned legs and smooth thighs soon became covered by silken fabric, fingers deftly tying the string in place.
“ - and...that is why I am here. Although I have completed step one faster than I expected, we have not been able to proceed to step two. Experimentation.”
Though, you highly doubted space mice were an available option to choose from, especially since you were sure Allura would straight up drain your life force with a blink of an eye. No, you needed to find an animal that had the same biological properties like an Altean or a Galra, but you were unaware if such creatures even exist anymore.
“Ah, yes. How can one check the efficiency of an experiment without a test subject?” Lotor mused, stepping to the other side of the bed before taking a seat, his weight leaving an indentation, “No space bunnies available, hm?”
Lotor leisurely laid on his side, arm propping up his head, then stared at you. Or rather, observed. Shoulders were lax, expression calm, the gears in your mind turning as you gazed right back at him. Of course, he himself was the epitome of relaxed right now. He gets to keep his brain occupied with another little experiment in his claws. You.
“I...suppose I can work with them. It may take weeks or months to finalize a firm result, though.”
“How about me?”
“What about you?”
You tilted your head a bit with your brows lowered in suspicion. Was he insinuating what you think he was? And why did he look so...willing to do it? His lids were hooded and you could see that there were shadows under his eyes. Overworked? You wouldn’t be surprised. Both Allura and Lotor didn’t know their limits. It will get them killed one day. Or maybe, they weren’t aware of their body’s limits?
“Why not try experimenting on me? After Sincline is finished, of course,” Lotor’s voice was steady, yet strangely flippant as if he wasn’t suggesting live experimentation on PEOPLE.
“I do not think...that would be wise, Emperor Lotor.”
“What is your second choice?”
Second choice? Second choice was...using it on yourself. It isn’t like you haven’t injected Witigue within your body before and you were confident in your knowledge of chemistry and molecular biology. You could handle it, you’ve done it plenty of time to ensure your own survival. Now, though, it would be in the name of science.
“Myself.” “Hm. Me, or you,” he played with those few words, knowing that now your blurred morality line would be almost impossible to differentiate, “I swore I would let you explore my body. This is part of it and in the name of science, I am willing to do it. We need not smear protocol for this, good doctor.”
I am doing this to keep my end of the deal.
Judging by your silence, you were honestly considering it.
“I will...try to find alternatives before taking your options as a last resort.”
He had expected you to promptly leave after that final word, but imagine his surprise when instead, you casually laid in his bed. Interesting, but not at all unwanted. Lotor opened the blankets in offering, thinking that perhaps you would not mind another night of his arms securing you while you slept.
In all honesty, he wasn’t tired at all. The thrill of being so close to his goal, reaching peace within the empire, unlimited quintessence -
“What are your next plans after this?”
Lotor leisurely slid his arm around your waist, not tugging, but you weren’t pulling away either. In fact, his eyes dilated when he felt the tips of your fingers skim over his covered hip in an almost teasing adventure. Once your palm fully rested on the dip of his waist, you sidled up to his chest as you kept your gaze firm with his. The question. What do you plan on doing?
“Planets whose resources are critically strained due to my father’s unsustainable practices will be tended to first. A little humanitarian services is long overdue, no? We will need the Olkari’s help on this. Having their engineering knowledge may further aid in siphoning and transporting quintessence across the universe.”
A noble choice after ending the war. Unlike Lance, you knew that just releasing enslaved planets when their resources were otherwise drained to near unreparable would only end up sentencing them to starvation and death. Ten thousands years made societies rely on the Empire for survival, even if the decision was ultimately out of their hands.
“With Voltron and Sincline, I can begin work to restore the Empire as a whole. Those who claimed disloyalty and wrought destruction in the wake of my crowning will be stopped,” Lotor paused, only because he hadn’t noticed your hand had made its way up to his cheek, “Times are changing for the better. And those who do not change with it, will…”
You cupped his jaw, stroked his cheekbones softly, and he unceremoniously let out a big yawn with his fangs glinting in the night. A content groan escaped his chest, now realizing how comfortable he was. How his mind seemed to have calmed down from the days’ rushing thoughts. Did this pillow always feel so good? Or the comforter so warm? Ah, the luxuries. It made him weak.
“Do you plan on staying?”
Lotor’s eyes slid closed.
“Staying with…”
Me.
“Doctor, you checked them out for flight, yes?”
“Yes, Coran. Physically, they are fit. I saw no problems with their body’s health and I did make sure they had a full days rest before today’s launch.”
Coran’s concerns were coming from a good place, you knew. He was practically Allura’s father at this point, watching over her and giving advice when needed. Even sharing the same pain and comforting each other in the face of a daunting reality that they were both the last living Alteans in the universe. You understood their connection. Perhaps not relating to it, but you understood it.
“Shouldn’t we be a little more concerned about this? I mean, last time anyone went in the quintessence field, Zarkon turned evil,” Lance piped in, clearly disgruntled by the entire plan.
“Zarkon fell prey to his own evil instincts,” your attention switched to Shiro, “The quintessence field didn’t create them. It revealed them.”
No. That wasn’t right. You read Honerva’s research, handled quintessence yourself, and there was nothing that supported his claim. Then again, Shiro faced Zarkon himself. He battled him for the lion, but just based on your own findings, it felt like something was...missing. A major component about the Rift and the quintessence. If what he said was true, then either you were immune to it or you were unaware of the effects.
But you felt fine. Nothing out of the ordinary, except perhaps feeling a little more...light around Lotor. You were more inclined to believe that was just the friendship between you two. The growing something between you two. Something you only saw as respect for him. Lotor only solidified that respect when you told him no a week ago.
Of course you expected him to listen as anyone should, but you noticed he did more than that.
“We’re prepared just in case there is an accident,” you explained to the group, “If the quintessence does anything to their bodies, I will be the first to know. The second they are heading back, I assure you, I'll run a full physical on the both of them. Right now, I have their vitals up on my screen.”
Part of you was also...excited about this discovery. Was quintessence the true reason why the universe fell into 10,000 years of suffering and loss?
So far, nothing strange. Perhaps their hearts picked up the closer they got to the ruined Daibazaal remains, perhaps your own was beating loudly in your chest as Coran counted down until the ship would reach the gate. You didn’t care for war. You didn’t. You cared that there was something left afterwards, something that would show you there was a future for all.
The chart readings went blank the second the ship disappeared in a blinding light.
“You know, Shiro, I never did like waiting,” you told him out of the blue as seconds turned to minutes, “That’s what I like about you. The soldiers get jobs done, the medics wait for the inevitable.”
He placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder, understanding your message that would have been odd or offensive to any other person in the room. War does that to people. They force strangers to connect in a bond no other could experience. You couldn't say this to Coran or Hunk and expect them to know what nonsense you were spouting without giving you some form of pity. Giving you distance with a cautious gaze. Isolating you.
Shiro took a deep breath. He knows what you’re asking.
Is this the end of it all?
“Don’t worry, doctor. You know what I always say. Patience yields - “
The blaring red screen cut him off suddenly, announcing that there was something wrong. No, not wrong, just an incoming ship? Your brows furrowed in confusion. They couldn’t be back already. Your screen didn't pick up their returning vitals. Everyone’s eyes focused on the large screen showing a very much different ship than they expected. Wasn’t that...an Altean pod?
“Shiro, it’s Keith.”
“Keith! A-Are you okay?”
“Where’s Lotor?”
And just like that, the air in the room became cold. Frigid.
“Emperor Lotor is with Allura in the quintessence field. They managed to get through and should be returning shortly with their results,” you explained, to which Keith only replied with two words.
“Oh, no.”
Everyone went down to the docking station, you included. Keith sounded grim, you could even go as far to say a bit scared. The sound of the ship opening was unsettling and when he finally approached you all, that’s when you noticed he looked different. Vastly different from the last time you saw him at the coalition headquarters. He was more...stern. Unmoving. Resolute in his eyes.
“We need to stop Lotor. He’s been lying to all of us!”
“Wh-Lying? About what?” Shiro asked, hesitated in asking, and it was rare he was ever caught off guard.
“Everything!”
The sound of a new voice demanding attention left everyone shocked in surprise. And, ashamed to say, even you. Two women and a wolf? A Galra who wore the same suit as Keith and an Altean, an actual Altean, revealed themselves. The group began bombarding the newcomers with questions, Keith too, but the only thing you could focus on was the little girl.
Another Altean. A living Altean. Something...something was not right. Something was missing.
Your mind reverted back to your old habits. Everything you thought of, from meeting Lotor up until now, nothing seemed out of place. You had every information available at your beck and call. Everything about him you discovered on your own. Everything about Lotor and his motives for a better future. This...this life long experiment couldn’t be a mistake. It couldn’t.
You both entered this with a mutual agreement of respect in mind. The evidence was clear as day. So then, why the accusations against him? Why was the mere presence of this Altean setting your mind on edge? Why did that seething tone in her voice send a familiar chill down your spine? And why was it hard to breath?
“This is Romelle. And I think she should tell her own story.”
