Roman and Jess is a dynamic that has never really been explored and would definitely be interesting. I also got the vibe that Jess and Kendall had a real actual friendship going on and he definitely realized she was worth keeping around. In canon it took Kendall putting all of democracy at risk to support a fascist to break that bond. He had to fuck up in a world shattering way to lose her loyalty. In the au that betrayal never got the chance to happen. So she never got to learn what her breaking point with him would be. Jess seems like a quality person. i think she saw a lot of the good in Kendall that other people didn’t get to see. Maybe there was a short lived romance there? His exes do have a habit of sticking around with a lingering fondness. I like the idea of them sharing like one intense kiss with lingering possibilities one time because they spent a new years together all alone and it was midnight and then they both just decide it’s better not to complicate the nice thing they have. But have you ever watched Bojack Horseman? If so I think Diane/Bojack’s whole dynamic could be similar.

I've had thoughts about Jess/Kendall before. I think for one thing Jess knows he's an absolute hot mess, but the question is whether or not she would have surrendered to any charisma Kendall was putting off prior to realizing that he was a hot mess? I feel like she could've excused a lot of his weirdness for being in a relationship that wasn't particularly good (I love Rava, like a lot, but she and Kendall clearly did not have lasting power), then maybe once Rava breaks it off and Kendall's left lonely, something very private and very tiny could've happened like a single kiss. Jess drawing the line makes sense to me or at least saying that she's not just gonna fall into bed with him like some of his other conquests, because it's not like that with them, yeah.

I do think she's at least very fond of him and worried about him intensely as he fell apart over the course of a couple of seasons there, but she was in no position to save him. He was echelons of power above her, and she just kind of had to watch and do whatever he said. But no one would be as motivated to take care of him the way she does, not because she's in love with him or because she's his stand-in mom but because she really, truly gets what's going on in his head and will stand by him anyway without talking shit or going to the press. So she stayed, because she believes Kendall's a good guy deep down, and he deserved someone around who cared about him. She's loyal that way.

Jess is sort of the one place that Kendall feels safe. So for it to come from there is a real like mortal wound for Kendall. [x]
