How does it work?

To sign up for the Daylight Savings Fest, you have to either pick a prompt (and a backup) from our archive and claim it through our prompt claiming form, or send a self-prompt through our self-prompting form. You will receive a confirmation email once your claim comes through, and will be thereon free to write it.

Can I claim more than one prompt?

Writers will be allowed to claim a second prompt after finishing the writing and drafting of their first one. To do this, send an email to us via daylightsavingsfest@gmail.com.

Do I have to gift my work to the prompter?

No, a mention in the notes will do. However, we encourage you to if you feel like it; it's all the more fun.

The prompt I want is tagged as 'SFW', does that mean I can't write NSFW?

No. The SFW label in the archive just means that a prompt is not inherently NSFW. You are free to write anything you want into any prompt so long as it's not in the 'Don'ts' section provided by the prompter.

How does Kevin Day keep his hair so soft and shiny?

I still stand by my HC that Kevin has a visceral seething hate for sports tape and any joint braces. He’d be the kind of athlete who thinks that those things are over used, it’s a crutch people use to aid their inability to do better, by using them a body becomes reliant and weak. He holds this standard against others and holds it against himself twice as much, he’s meticulous with his hand therapy and only using braces minimally when it would actually (in his mind) reduce injury or let his hand heal. But fuck he just HATES the stretchy sports tape, no way does it reduce bruises or stabilise a joint, that’s some medical made up nonsense to him, most it does is remind someone they should be more careful with that part of their body and to look cool

As an ex gymnast myself I’ve always felt the effects of KT tape are over stated. I’ve been the person who strapped their ankles to all hell with ridged tape just to keep them from falling apart, my physio used KT tape but it never did anything [for me specifically and personally]. Tape, braces and guards absolutely have their place, they give space for a body to heal and for some bodies (hypermobile especially) to prevent harm or pain.

This is to say, his opinionated ass isn’t right, he refuses nuance in the context of Exy and this is no exception. Except maybe one… opinionated bitchy Kevin who is definitely not be reconsidering that same opinion when he see’s Jeremy using bright pink sports tape for his knee

Prompting period will be over on March 11th. Until then, everyone, writer or not, will be able to submit Kevin-related writing prompts to our archive. On March 11th, we will open the claiming form, where writers can choose the prompt they want to write for our fest or submit one of their own.

Save the date! The Daylight Savings Fest schedule is out now and prompting starts on Monday!

Prompting: 02/26 to 03/11 - Anyone will be able to send prompts to our archive. So long as they are related to Kevin Day, any and all prompts will be accepted, including but not limited to NSFW, non-paired ideas, character studies, alternative universes, canon divergences and platonic pairings.

Prompts may be anonymous or signed. We leave it up to our prompters to pick whether they would like to be mentioned in the finished work or not.

NSFW prompts are limited to writers above the age of eighteen.

Your prompts, by default, must include Kevin Day as the main character or one of the main characters. Prompts unrelated to the fest's purpose will not be accepted. Have you ever played chess without a queen piece?

Claiming: 03/11 to 03/22 - Writers will be able to peruse our prompt archive and claim one for themselves through a form starting March 11th. Those who would rather write a prompt of their own must also fill in this form, and specify that their prompt has not been taken from the archive. A writer may claim a second prompt so long as they have already finished and drafted their first one. Not all of us can be a worldwide famous athlete while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and running an Exy team like the navy.

Writing period: 03/29 - 05/29 - Works must be above 1.500 (fifteen hundred) words to be submitted. The content of them is up for the writer to decide — we will not peform any kind of moderation on what topics can be breached or explored. Or if Kevin Day himself is breached or explored.

Posting period: 05/29 - 06/07 - Your work must be fully submitted with all its parts by June 7th. That means chaptered fics must have their entire chapter count up by then. We understand guidelines are hard to follow, so don't hesitate to ask for an extension if you truly believe you cannot make it, but try to pace yourself so that you are finished before one is needed. If, even then, you still need an extension, here's some words of advice: a queen is never late, everyone else simply is too early.
