my favourite parts of dress for danger
i haven't watched any more mischief move night in recently, so it's been a while since i've done this, but here we are once again!
i seem to remember oscar looking slightly different, but it has been a while since i last watch mmni, so i'm sure i'm just misremembering! /j
i love the dance in the first song so much
shields with the megaphone
"hey cynthia, you're 82 years young. i don't wanna hear complaints from ya."
"i'd be lost, i'd be devastated, i'd be other words that are bad."
"i get so many proposals: marry me, invest in my pyramid scheme."
all the proposals (and bryony being french)
"and you see why that was cut out of the main movie."
"consider it, consider it." "just consider it." "c o n s i d e r i t."
the kickline and jazz hands!
"that is pathetic!" "what? that's my best shimmy!"
"you can barely walk!" "i can still shimmy... argh!"
"don't you get everything in her will?" "well yes, but that's hardly the time to discuss that now!"
"are you checking that she's dead?" "yes." "is she?" "yes." *wails*
how they accidentally made it impossible for most of the cast to have committed the murder
"that's right, i am a tree, and you are now a cowbow."
oscar's confusion about jimmy's backstory
"you are no longer a father of two and a plumber, erase that from your mind!"
"that's right! and his waistcoat's yellow."
"he has ze thoughts, i write ze words."
"i'm drowning in your... gorgeous bone structure."
"because like they say in france, why do one thing well when you can be kickass at both things."
celine's tap dancing
celine being dragged and then carried off stage
"i hear that tragedy has plagued this production like a plague."
tony's muslin cloth ad
"c o n s i d e r i t."
the game of hide and seek
"i gotta go tend to my muslins."
"have you said hello to the tiger?" "ah yes." "'sup?"
the return of the tree
how emille says jr
"changing arm position."
tony and jr's affair
oscar forgetting who maria is
the tiger realising he's in the wrong room and exiting
"i was just back here, tending to my muslins-"
the giant dressing room
jimmy regaining his memories
the august repellent dance
emille's defense of miss marple
"TIMBERRRRRRRRRR!"
the end reprise literally gave me chills /gen
favourite character: maria
favourite song: dress for danger (reprise)

Rating Every Song on Fearless Based on How Gay it is
Hello friends! I still have a few song analyses in the pipeline (and one on Lover the album) but today in honor of Fearless (Taylor’s Edition) being announced and Love Story being released in a few hours I thought I’d do something fun to celebrate!
And you know what? Fuck my usual disclaimer, I am the word of god here. Try and change my mind about any of these. I dare you. (I kid I kid this isn’t that serious and you’re free to disagree <3)
1. Fearless 15/10
Everything about this song is so fucking gay oh my god. This isn’t a fruit, this is a whole ass edible arrangement. As a small rural town Gay (my hometown has a population of less that 4,000 and where I’m living now has a population of 2,500) this uh. Hits.
“And I don't know how it gets better than this/You take my hand and drag me head first, fearless”
Y’ALL
The idea of falling in love with someone who makes you less afraid of your homophobic small town…….it’s getting to me.
“My hands shake, I'm not usually this way but/You pull me in and I'm a little more brave/It's the first kiss, it's flawless, really something/It's fearless”
This is making me emotional, I'll be honest. I see so much of my friends and my experience in high school in this song.
This quote I found on genius is from when the album was released on BMR’s website.
“When I wrote ‘Fearless,’ I wasn’t dating anyone. I wasn’t even in the beginning stages of dating anybody. I really was all by myself out on tour and I got this idea for a song about the best first date. I think sometimes when you’re writing love songs, you don’t write them about what you’re going through at the moment, you write about what you wish you had. So, this song is about the best first date I haven’t had yet.”
This just screams baby Tay writing gay folklore to me, about the gay stories she wish she had. Notice how there are no pronouns in this song??? Fruity I’m telling you.
All that to say. I’m crying because the linear note says “I loved you before I met you” and I want to go listen to Long Story Short and cry now.
2. Fifteen 1/10
Objectively pretty straight as she’s singing about her and Abigail’s dating boys in HS. And Taylor got with a senior guy. Good for her I suppose.
Unless he was one of the shitty ones in which case.
“This is life before you know who you're gonna be”
This however, is a cute line and the whole song makes me warm and nostalgic. You can also hear her crying after the line “and Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind” which makes me emo and I’m sure will take on new depth after Abigail’s divorce and hurt me even more.
Other highlights that make me sob include.
“When all you wanted was to be wanted/Wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now/Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday/But I realized some bigger dreams of mine”
Bigger dreams of hers indeed :’)
(Also how can you say she’s a gold star lesbian when this song exists. She was obviously dating boys in high school and even if you think she’s a lesbian. Comp het is a hell of a drug kids.)
3. Love Story 8/10
Tried to change the ending indeed.
This is THE Taylor Swift song, and maybe it’s the nostalgia talking but damn I still love it. Written because she wanted to change the ending of Romeo and Juliet (how anyone likes RandJ enough to want to rewrite I have no clue.) and/or because her parents didn’t approve of a guy she was seeing. (according to genius, it would’ve been too early for Joe J so it could possibly be Boys Like Girls frontman, his image did clash with hers and they did release some cute songs together. However if you want my take it’s probably folklore about Emily, take for what you will)
This song has very oft gay vibes with the ‘They don’t approve of our love angle!’ but uses male pronouns so points redacted for that. HOWEVER this is a very early use of ~the male perspective~ in Taylor’s songs and for that it deserves all the love.
“ So I sneak out to the garden to see you/We keep quiet, 'cause we're dead if they knew/So close your eyes/Escape this town for a little while”
More rural town angst!!!
Nothing gets me more than rural town angst.
“Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel/This love is difficult, but it's real”
Originally the lyric was “this love is different”. Granted I do not remember the source, i’s just lore implanted into my brain, but make of that what you will.
“"Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone/I love you, and that's all I really know/I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress/It's a love story, baby, just say "Yes"”
Marry me Juliet from the male perspective :)
Also worth noting. This is Karlie’s (and Kim K’s lmao) favorite Taylor song which. While basic as hell. Makes this cover sad as hell to this former Kaylor. (thanks @swiftgron-get-married for the tears <3)
Also not to make this about a man AGAIN but the secret message is “Some day I’ll find this” AND SHE DID IM CRYING.
4. Hey Stephen 1/10
The one thing Camilla Cabello and I have in common is loving this song, so I have to live with that for the rest of my life.
This song is very painfully straight.
How can you think this woman is a gold star lesbian.
The only noteworthy thing is that this is one of the few songs she confirms who it’s about. The secret message is “Love and Theft” which is the name of a country music duo who went on to open her Fearless tour. Which, does make me side eye this song a little bit.
Still a cute song.
“Hey Stephen, boy, you might have me believing/I don't always have to be alone”
5. White Horse 1/10
Oh look. It’s track five.
You know maybe this is just me being a bitch but in my ranking of track fives this is. Pretty low. Maybe on the bottom.
Like I don’t have a lot to say about it.
She’s going through it over a guy. He was a cheating dickweazel.
“'Cause I'm not your princess, this ain't a fairytale/I'm gonna find someone someday/Who might actually treat me well”
“Try and catch me now, oh/It's too late/To catch me now”
These lines hit though!!
And she found Joe!! Who treats her well!!!! And she isn’t the princess, she’s the prince who dropped her sword and knocked on her door!!! But this time if they come for them she’s ready!!!
Yes I will make every song about Long Story Short <3
6. You Belong With Me 5/10
Ah yes. The other THE Taylor Swift song.
You know. If I went to a high school with a cheerleading squad. And I had a crush on a cheerleader. I would blast this song. So for that it gets a 5/10. Otherwise. Fairly straight and fairly iconic.
7. Breathe 8/10
Well. We know this one is about a woman. (Emily Poe for those not in the know. Ha. A rhyme!) That alone has an 8/10. And it’s the first time she has a featured artist so bonus points for that!
It was nominated for a Grammy and it fucking lost to Jason Mraz. When’s the last time you thought about Jason Mraz.
I will not have Kaylor feels on a fucking Fearless song but damn is it VERY easy.
“Never a clean break, no one here to save me/You're the only thing I know like the back of my hand”
“It's 2 A.M, feeling like I just lost a friend/Hope you know it's not easy, easy for me”
Also this bridge? Goes off. HIGHLY underrated.
8. Tell Me Why 3/10
You know. Maybe this album isn’t as gay as I once thought.
This song does bop though, not as good as her other angry songs on this album. But I can vibe with this you know. Why are you being an asshole mysterious man.
“You could write a book on how to ruin someone's perfect day”
This has to be one of baby Tay’s best burns. Damn.
“Why do you have to make me feel small/So you can feel whole inside?/Why do you have to put down my dreams/So you're the only thing on my mind?”
Men ain’t shit kids. However, bonus points for the shade.
9. You’re not Sorry 1/10
Ok, ok. Maybe this was a foolish endeavor.
Because yet again we have a very straight song. A good song. That was on Taylor’s episode of CSI. But oh dear. Very straight. Gets a measly one point. We started this post off so very very gay but damn. We seem to be nearing the end on a very straight note.
10. The Way I Loved You 20/10
Hey Remember what I said about this album being very straight.
WELL THAT WAS A LIE.
Is this a comphet album or am I projecting.
This is one of my favorite baby gay Taylor songs. Her masterful use of pronouns (he is sensible! And so incredible! And all my single friends are jealous! But I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain, when it was two am and I was cursing your name!) makes the other person she’s singing about completely vague, while we know she isn’t happy with whichever guy she’s dating.
Mayhaps an early reaction to PRomances?
Either way this song is so good, truly an underrated gay gem I mean. Look at it.
“Breaking down and coming undone/It's a roller coaster kind of rush/And I never knew I could feel that much/And that's the way I loved you”
AND THE BRIDGE. Do all of her gay songs just have kickass bridges?
“He can't see the smile I'm faking/And my heart's not breaking/'Cause I'm not feeling anything at all/And you were wild and crazy/Just so frustrating/Intoxicating, complicated/Got away by some mistake and now…”
Damn. I’m imaging this with 2020 vocals and fucking ascending.
Also please watch the live performance of it from the Fearless tour. It’s such a damn shame this got cut from the movie and some woman in the front row is wearing a cowboy hat. Everyone is holding up those cameras everyone had to have before smartphones. Taylor is being endearing. It’s a good time.
11. Forever and Always 6/10
Bonus points for the ~drama~ of it all. Added last minute to the album? The iconic throwing of the chair in live performances?? All of it very dramatique and for that we stan.
Still pretty straight.
Also Joe Jonas responded to the song and why do I find his response so damn funny. “It’s part of being a musician, I guess. You write songs about each other.”
This is another song where the idea of Taylor’s grown up vocals on this is………..whew
12. The Best Day 0/10
This gets zero points because it’s about her literal mom.
Still makes me cry.
God bless Andrea Swift indeed
13. Change 13/10
We start the official tracklist with a gay song. We end it with a gay song.
We will ignore that it was originally written for Scott and BMR and instead induct it into the hall of gay pride anthems, as it should be.
“We're getting stronger now, finding things they never found/They might be bigger but we're faster and never scared/You can walk away, say we don't need this/But there's something in your eyes says we can beat this”
“This revolution, the time will come/For us to finally win/And we'll sing hallelujah, we'll sing hallelujah”
The music video is cringe though lol
14. Jump then Fall 10/10
This song is gay because I choose it to be. <3
Like. Picture baby Taylor writing this song and playing it on her guitar to a girl she has a crush on telling her that she’ll protect her and they’ll be safe and in love and happy together. Gah, maybe I’m ~projecting~ but this sweet ass song always gets me and is EASILY in my top five Taylor songs. Super underrated and hecking cute.
“We're on the phone and without a warning/I realize your laugh is the best sound/I have ever heard”
Like. Look at this shit.
“I watch you talk, you didn't notice/I hear the words but all I can think is/We should be together”
Tell me this is about the first time you get a crush on a girl and she’s your best friend and she’s amazing and beautiful and you realize you kinda want to kiss her and you hope she wants to kiss you too.
“I had time to think it oh, over/And all I can say is come closer/Take a deep breath and jump then fall into me”
And she’s the Romeo who's going to protect her!!!!! She’s the knight in shining armor in this song and I love that for her??
“The bottom's gonna drop out from under our feet/I'll catch you, I'll catch you/When people say things that bring you to your knees/I'll catch you/The time is gonna come when you're so mad you could cry/But I'll hold you through the night until you smile”
I won’t divulge into full on analysis here because. This is what this post is about but PLEASE listen to this song more. It’s such a gay little gem.
15. Untouchable 9/10
How does she make a cover sound gay.
It sounds so gay.
“You got to come on, come on, say that we'll be together/Come on, come on, little taste of heaven”
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
16. Forever and Always Piano Version 1/10
This song gets 1/10 because I don’t like it. There. I said it.
17. Come in With the Rain 3/10
I can see why this is a bonus track. It doesn’t hit me as much as the other songs on the album.
But damn if I don’t want to scream sing this one driving down a high way.
18. Superstar 7/10
You can’t tell me this song is about a man. I simply won’t entertain the idea.
You cannot prove to me that this song is about a man. There is not a male pronoun in sight.
>:)
19. The Other Side of the Door 6/10
Is this song about having a fight about being in the closet? Probably not. Will my gay little brain make it about that? Yep!
And that, funky little queer pals, is my gay rating of every Fearless song. Like and subscribe, #t3atmidnight

Ml: Theatre Production Au (or heathers, they’re doing heathers)
Okay first- so pretend all of them are good at singing and dancing and whatever. Second- pretend Lila is actually a good character.
Good? Good.
Okay so this starts off surprisingly with the bathroom threatening scene, this is inspired by this actress lila au I saw where Marinette is like “Huh. You’re a good actress Lila. Like- I don’t think you should lie and stuff but you could put this talent to good use!” And helps Lila find her own self through theatre. It’s cute.
Anyways it’s been a While since then, long enough for the tension to die down and for Lila to have made a full redemption and the class is semi chill with her (with slight but healthy salt every now and then). Eventually she comes to the class and is like “hey guys.. so uh.. I just asked for permission but do you guys want to do Heathers?”
Anyways yeah yeah we get the usual “Oh my god Adrien is JD and I’m Veronica!!” shit, you all know the drill, I won’t go into it much because it’s pretty standard Adrientte drama. I’m not writing the details.
Lila might’ve caused that though, she feels bad about the whole Adrien thing but she’s still a little shit so she’s like “aha. this’ll work”— and she makes sure to make as many jokes about Dead Girl Walking as possible.
ANYWAYS TIME FOR THE OTHER CHARACTERS
Lila isn’t playing anyone, she’s the director and she’s the one throwing everyone around.
Heathers first: Chloe and Sabrina auditioned for Heather Chandler and Heather Mcnamara, and they did pretty well- but when the roles come out they stare in shock to see Chloe as Mcnamara and Sabrina as Heather Duke.
Chloe screams why she isn’t Heather Chandler and Lila is like “look- you did great- but trust me I—”
The door is then unsubtly kicked down by a absolutely ecstatic Alya who’s like “I GOT THE FUCKING ROLE!”
Yep. Alya’s Heather Chandler. Do I care about logic? No.
I saw a short one shot fic where Alya got Chandler and I was like “yep this is reality now”
What a Queen. (She apologizes every time she has to bully Marinette on stage but it’s all fun, she also pokes fun at Dead Girl Walking too)
Anyways Chloe is hella confused but she can’t really argue cause Alya plays a kickass Heather Chandler, but she thought it’d make more sense for her to play Heather Duke or someone more.. mean? The others share this confusion but Lila says nothing but “trust me”.
No one sees Chloe sing Lifeboat when she practices it for the first or other times, only Lila and the musicians, which is odd.. sense those practices last a long time. Some just assume it’s cause Chloe sucks. It’s on their first opening night that’s when they see why Lila chose Chloe for it. Because when Chloe breaks into tears and her voice is straining as she practically sobs/belts the last line, glaring at the empty spot of where her Mother’s seat was going to be- they just.. get it. There’s no specifics, no horrid realization.. they just finally.. understand.
Marinette runs in a little early after that song.
Chloe waves it off when she goes backstage and hastily says “it’s just acting” but Marinette knows better and hugs her. Lila gives her a thumbs up as she directs everyone to the next scene.
(Meanwhile Sabrina is having a fucking blast as Heather Duke, Lila probably added Never Shut Up Again to this, it’s very therapeutic for Sabrina and her own silent fuck you to authority/Roger, I can and will go on a rant about how shitty Roger is but Sabrina has probably realized it by now)
Continuing forward- I don’t know who Martha is- Kim and Nino are Kurt and Ram and they’re having a fun time playing them.  Stage crew is Juleka, Aurore, Marc, Nathaniel, and Ivan, + Lila helping too when needed.
The ensemble is basically everyone else (a few extras plus the stage crew jumping in when needed)
After it’s all over they all just sit down and relax, super tired from the very intense show they performed.. when Lila speaks up and says, “..So who wants to call dibs on Regina George?”
and the chaos starts again

To Catch a Thief Masterlist / Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
It's been one month since SL stole the Space Stone necklace and every day you struggled to find new evidence. Gamora assigned you to watch the Vegas footage to track down some sort of connection to Red Jacket from the Norway heist, but so far nothing. It was making you frustrated, and the only thing keeping you sane was going home and hanging out with Peter.
“So it’s your birthday next week,” Peter blurted out while you both were watching Netflix. You turned to him on the couch with your mouth hanging open.
“How did...how did you know that?”
“Saw your license.”
“Oh god,” you groaned, covering your face with your hands. “Please tell me you didn’t see my picture.”
“I did--” he snickered “--but I thought you looked cute. I mean you always do, but the dark shadows under your eyes, smeared eyeliner, the busted lip, and the wet hair really added to it.”
“Thanks for the reminder. It was a long rough night and early morning,” you sighed, looking down at your lap to hide your flushed face. This wasn’t new for you anymore, Peter made you blush all the time. It was like he enjoyed seeing you embarrassed and flustered, but that was the Peter Quill persona. He could be so charismatic and flirty sometimes that it’s hard to fight the rush of color to your face.
“I could tell. What are we going to do for your birthday?” Peter asked, raising an eyebrow. He wasn’t going to let this go, but it wasn’t a big deal to you anymore.
“Nothing, we don’t have to do anything. It’s just another day on the calendar.”
“Come on, we have to celebrate.” Peter nudged your side. “Come on.” Nudge. “Come on.” Nudge, nudge.
“Will you stop? It’s annoying.” You pushed him away from you and he fell you the other side of the couch flashing you a cheeky smile. “We are not celebrating and that’s final.”
“Well, regardless, I’m going to plan something and it’s going to blow your mind,” he joked with a huge grin.  He wasn’t going to give up on this, but by the time the day comes around, he’ll forget this conversation happened. Besides, he would be at work since it fell on a Friday.
“I’ll believe it when I see it.”
“Did you never do anything special on your birthday? Didn’t your mom and dad ever throw you a party?”
This was a conversation you didn’t want to have tonight, but eventually, it was bound to happen. You crossed your arms over your chest and took a deep breath before answering. “Sure, my parents threw me parties, but then I didn't see the point anymore. I ah…. I don’t think I ever told you this but my parents died when I was 14.”
“Shit!” Peter mumbled, staring at you with wide eyes for a few seconds before looking away. This was the usual response when you brought them up, which is why you never talked about them much. “I’m sorry, I had no idea.  What happened or do you know what happened? I mean, we don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
You bit your bottom lip debating. You’ve known Peter for a couple months now and called him a good friend.  Did you trust him? You liked to think you did, but you hated opening up to people and showing how vulnerable you could be. You weren’t afraid to tell people what you thought but when that thing was you, you refrained from it. Maybe it was time to finally break the barrier and let someone in.
“It happened when they were driving home from their annual office Christmas party. It was snowing and blowing real bad, and it rained earlier in the day making the roads extra icy.  The car ended up skidding on the ice going right through a guardrail and into a river.” You could feel Peter’s worried eyes on you, but you took a deep breath before continuing.
“Shortly after, I ended up in the foster system because I had no living relatives. Every foster parent I lived with ending up letting me down one way or another. They classified me as unstable, so I jumped from home to home living with the worst foster parents imaginable. I knew from the start none of them cared about me, and they were only using me to get a paycheck. They were either abusive, drunks, or closeted drug users.  When it got hard I ran away, but the police found me and took me back, even after I told them everything. After a while, I stopped trying to get along with them and waited until I turned 18.”
“Damn! I never would’ve imagined you went through something like that. I mean--” he gestured a hand at you “--you're so well put together, and well, you know what you want.”
“I have my parents to thank for that,” you replied with a side smirk. “I spent 14 years with them, and they were the best. I miss them every day but accidents happen, and they’re out of our control.  I know they would want me to keep living and not dwell on the past, so that’s what I’ve been doing. It might be why I became an FBI agent in the first place. Searching for a way to feel closer to them after such a tragedy,” you sighed, rubbing your hands on your thighs. “What about your parents? Did they do anything special for your birthdays?”
Peter scoffed. “My dad's David Hasselhoff so he had a busy schedule. He did take me on some kickass adventures though even drove me around in his talking car. It was fun.”
“I’m serious!” You hit him on his arm making him chuckled. “I know it’s a sensitive subject for you, and I just unloaded a bunch of crap on you from my shitty past, so I get it if you don’t want to talk about it.”
“Now, I feel obligated to share something.” You hit him on the arm again as he let out a long sigh. “My dad was a good dad when he needed me for something, but otherwise he was never around. I don’t think he ever came to one of my birthdays now that I think of it.  Fortunately,  my mom always made up for it. She still does. Sometimes she would throw a party, but most of the time it was just the two of us. She’d get a cake and we would celebrate together. The cake always said ‘Happy Birthday, my Little Star-Lord.’” A slight blush crept up his neck traveling to the tips of his ears. “She always called me that growing up.”
“What were you the lord of the stars like Thor is the Lord of Thunder?”
“Actually, Thor is the God of Thunder,” Peter corrected you.
“It’s essentially the same thing, Star-Lord,” you giggled and he shook his head at you. It was cute his mom gave him a nickname, it was like a code name.  Your parents never gave you nickname unless you counted sweetie or little agent.
“I’m going to regret telling you that,” Peter said, staring at his hands in his lap.
“Yeah you will,” you smirked, making a mental note to search the police database for Star-Lord.  You doubt Peter had anything to do with your case but didn’t hurt to check it out.
Gamora and Kraglin continued to go through the piles of other evidence while you continued watching the Vegas footage. You’d rather be helping them because camera footage was the most boring thing in the world. You had to pay close attention to the small details because you could miss Red Jacket in the blink of an eye. It was especially difficult when you zoned out thinking about someone else and had to rewind it.
The footage reached three weeks before the theft happened, and this was the same time you first spotted Red Jacket in the Norway footage. You paid extra close attention because you needed to find a pattern, but it was a dead end. You watched the necklace get picked up by the same guard for its weekly inspection, and he looked at the security camera.  When the guard returned it, he glanced at the camera again. You continued to watch, but saw no sign of Red Jacket.  Maybe he had nothing to do with it? He could’ve been taking notes on a painting in Norway and there’s no correlation between these two heists.
The purple Power Stone necklace was a hot commodity here, too.  This guy must be good if he could steal it in a crowded hotel with cameras and guards everywhere. Of course, if nothing seemed suspicious to security why cause an unnecessary scene. Gamora did tell you the guard who took the necklace in for inspection got knocked out during the time of the theft, so if Red Jacket was behind this, he had to be in the footage somewhere.
Then, four days before the necklace was about to get inspected you spot Red Jacket.  He showed up a couple times throughout the day, but he hid his face under a hat. You tried to follow him out, but you never saw him exit the building. Was he staying at the hotel? He didn’t seem to have a routine to his thefts, but with this being the first necklace maybe he didn’t have a plan. So, did this mean he had a partner?
You fast forward the footage to the day of the theft, but you don’t see Red Jacket at all, but this time the guard never showed his face to the camera. This guy, you suspected to be SL/Red Jacket, was wearing the same guards uniform, but hid his face from the cameras with a security hat. He unlocked the case and placed the hologram necklace inside while he stole the real one. You caught him right on camera stealing it at the same time it leaves for inspection, so of course, it didn’t seem suspicious to the security staff. He walked right up and grabbed it.
Red jacket was in Vegas and Norway thus proving a connection. Much like from the eyewitness at Strange's residence, SL/Red Jacket seemed to be in his late 20s to early 30s and looked to be in great shape. He also must be intelligent to be able to pull off these heists, but how was he finding these necklaces so fast? Who was his partner? If he has a partner at all?
You told Gamora and Kraglin about your discovery and how he could have a partner. You packed up as Gamora tells you to have a fun birthday with your nameless boyfriend even though you corrected her saying he was a friend. Kraglin ignored the girl banter and waved you goodbye.
Walking down the hallway to your apartment, you noticed Peter coming back from his run drenched in sweat. He was listening to his Zune as he unlocked his door. He flashed you a cheesy smile, seeing you out of the corner of his eye and pulled out an earbud. “Hey, birthday girl!”
“Thanks! Didn't think they still made those?” You questioned, pointing at his Zune.
“I don't think they do, but it was a gift a while back from a good friend of mine,” Peter replied, fiddling with it in his hand.
“Oh, that’s nice of them.” You eye him up and down seeing his shirt spread tight across his pecs, and his biceps stretching the fabric of his sleeves. His shorts clenched tight across his quads and his calves had every muscle definition possible. Peter looked hot all sweated up, you wondered if--
“Hey, how about I shower and take you out for your birthday dinner?” Your eyes snapped up to his face, and you didn't miss the huge grin on his face. You were positive he caught you staring, and you hoped you weren't drooling or doing something stupid with your face.
“Wait, you were serious about that?” You asked, dumbfounded.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be? I even took off work for the night. Drax’s pissed, but he’s a big boy, he’ll get over it,” Peter chuckled, wrapping his earbuds around his Zune.
“Oh….you didn’t have to take off work.  I would’ve been fine with doing nothing and staying in,” you answered, sliding your key into the lock.
“Too late, sweetheart. I already have everything planned out.”
“This sounds like a date, Star-Lord,” you teased him as his eye stayed focused on yours.
“It could be if you wanted it to be,” he winked, flashing his signature smirk.
“Okay,” you smiled, “um….give me a half hour.”
Peter took you to this new restaurant called The Kyln, you both have been dying to check out.  It’s a cozy modern pizza joint run by a city council members husband. It serves the best pizza and savory pastries, aka calzones, imaginable. Although, The Kyln has gotten complaints about the calzones getting people sick it didn’t stop anyone from ordering them.  You both take your seats and scan over the menu.
“Did I tell you how stunning you look tonight? I mean, wow.” You gave him a bashful smile as your cheeks grew warm at the unexpected compliment.
“Thanks. You don’t look half bad yourself, Peter,” you replied, eyeing him over in his white henley shirt with the top two buttons undone and his light brown bomber jacket draped over the back of the chair. He flashed you a coy smile as he opened his menu. The waitress came over and took our orders. You were surprised Peter kept his eyes on yours instead of the waitresses retreating figure.
“How has your birthday been so far?”
Peter was a great guy, but he never let anyone see it.  It’s like he showed the public one side, the womanizing playboy side, and with you, he showed his true side.  The funny guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve, but hides it behind his dirty-minded personality. He has always been your type, but you never wanted to admit it to yourself until now.
“It’s been good. My coworkers got me a cake to celebrate. Then, I found a possible suspect in my case. It's been a good day so far,” you shrugged, eyeing over the drink choice menu.
“That’s great,” Peter forced a smile. “Do you know who your--.” Peter paused to peek at his vibrating phone but ignores it.  “Who is your susp--” he was interrupted again.  He lets out an irritated sigh telling you to hold on as he takes the call outside.  You twirled your glass wondering who was on the other end of that phone call. It could be his mom or one of those fake emergency calls to get him out of this date.
“This is urgent. I'm sorry, but I have to leave,” he apologized, standing next to the table. Fake emergency call it is, but it’s not like you never used it before.
“It’s fine. Is everything okay?”
“It will be soon enough. But listen, I promise I’ll make it up to you somehow, okay?” You nodded as he pulls on his jacket avoiding all eye contact with you.
“Yeah, sure. Take care of what you have to do. Um...thanks for dinner.”
“Anything for you sweetheart,” he added, leaving you to sit at the table alone on your birthday.
To say you were frustrated would be an understatement. You were pissed! He set up this fucking dinner on your birthday, yet he had to leave for an emergency.  He could be telling you the truth, but it could've been an excuse to leave.  Regardless of the reason, you felt like he was hiding something, and you were going to find out what it was. You asked the waitress for a take-out container as soon as the food arrived. She frowned taking the food back saying she’ll be right out with it.
Arriving home, you changed into something comfier and got situated on your bed. You plopped one of the takeout containers in your lap and turned on Netflix. “Another great birthday for the books,” you murmured to yourself.
One more episode leads to another, which lead to another. Before you know it, it’s after midnight, and you hear Peter enter his bedroom. You pause the episode as you heard him yelling profanities until his phone started ringing. He answers it leaving his room. What was he so upset about? You start to get out of bed when your phone starts vibrating.
“Hey Gamora, what’s up”
“Sorry, I hope I wasn’t interrupting anything.” You heard the smile in her voice forcing you to roll your eyes and remain silent. “I’m on my way back to the office, and I need you there ASAP. There’s been another theft, this time involving the yellow Mind Stone necklace. It was stolen from The New York Museum of Art, but on the bright side we have a new lead.”
“On my way.”
You walked out of your apartment when you made eye contact with Peter in the familiar red jacket you have been staring at for the past couple weeks now.
“Hey, Peter, everything alright? I heard shouting in your apartment,” you asked, trying to remove your eyes from the red jacket, but not succeeding.
“Everything’s fucking fine,” Peter snapped in frustration.
“Okay, sorry for asking.” You marched past him to the elevator.  You heard him calling your name, but ignored him and continued towards the elevator.

The End Of The Year 2017 Part III: Top 20 Metal Albums Of 2017As I promised, the next list that I wanted to focus on is my top twenty favorite metal albums of the year. Metal is a genre that I’ve only been into for the last few years now, but the year has been so great for metal, I wanted to dedicate a separate list to it, so these are a ton of metal albums that I’ve been into all year.
20. Unleash The Archers – Apex 19. Iced Earth – Incorruptible 18. Kublai Khan – Nomad 17. Origin – Unparalleled Universe 16. ABHORRENT DECIMATION – The Pardoner 15. Suffocation - …Of The Darkest Light 14. Accept – The Rise Of Chaos 13. Thy Art Is Murder – Dear Desolation 12. Power Trip – Nightmare Logic 11. Aethere – Adrift
10.  Through The Eyes Of The Dead – Disomus
Okay, I’m going to be honest, a lot of my favorite metal albums of this year, at least in the top ten, are death metal albums. I got a few exceptions, but death metal has my heart. If you looked, though, I’ve got power metal, hardcore, deathcore, metalcore, and stuff like that in the back half, but the top half has mainly death metal, because that’s what I love most. That’s what this album is, but it’s an interesting one. This is the comeback album from deathcore band Through The Eyes Of The Dead. I wonder if they got their name from Cannibal Corpse’s “Staring Through The Eyes Of The Dead,” off 1994’s The Bleeding, because that would make sense, and it’s a kickass album. Anyway, this is their first album, entitled Disomus, in about seven years. This LP took me slightly by surprise, because they went more into a melodic death metal sound here. From what I’ve heard, one of their albums went more into a melo-death sound, but the album I’ve heard, which is the one before this, 2010’s Skepsis, was a back to basics deathcore album, so it’s interesting that they’d throw more of a melo-death sound into the mix, but it works. The only issue I have with this record is that they do throw in some breakdowns here and there, and I don’t think it works 100% well, just because they could have easily just made the leap to a melo-death band again, but it’s only a nitpick, since this LP still kicks a lot of ass.
9. Arkaik – Nemethia
See what I mean? We got another death metal album here, and there’s not a whole lot that I have to say about this one, because Arkaik’s Nemethia, is merely a generic tech-death album that’s just pretty damn good. I picked this up after hearing about them, and I definitely am a fan of tech-death (I love these death metal bands that take things to the extreme even further than what was already perceived as the extreme; I feel like someone like Chuck Schuldiner from Death would be pleased at how technical and complex death metal has become over the years. Arkaik is another one of those bands, and while they’re not a super unique band, they do what they do well, and that’s why I put it here. If you’re expecting some insane and deep meaning as to why I love this album, you won’t get it, because this album just kicks a lot of ass.
8. Incendiary – Thousand Mile Stare
I mentioned that I have some other types of albums here, too, not just death metal, and metallic hardcore band Incendiary’s new album, Thousand Mile Stare is here. Yeah, I’m sure I’ll get some, “Well, this isn’t real metal” comments, but I didn’t feel right putting this, a metallic hardcore album, with the non-metal albums, because it’s heavy, brutal, and a pummeling assault of hardcore with metal riffage. This LP is great, regardless, because it’s the kind of metallic hardcore that I love. It’s energetic, pummeling, bone-crushing, and interesting, as well as poignant and relevant with its lyricism. This LP is more on the angry side of political lyricism, but with the music itself, I don’t mind that, because it works. This thing isn’t a unique album, either, but I’ll be damned if it’s not an album that’s executed perfectly. I absolutely love this thing, and if you want to get into metallic hardcore, this is a great album to start with, because you’ll be able to get the gist of what the genre has to offer. I can’t say this album is super amazing, or that it’s like the most unique or revolutionary on this list, but that’s not something I really, really look for anymore. A lot of those albums can definitely make the cut, but for me, it’s what I’ve been coming back to most. If an album kicks a lot of ass, and is awesome, no matter how unique the sound is, I’ll talk about it, and this is one of those albums. I loved when I first heard it, back in June, and I love it now.
7. GUTSLIT – Amputheatre
Talk about an album that just kicks ass. I came across GUTSLIT while looking on Facebook, because another band that I’m really into, deathgrind band Logistic Slaughter, talked about them, and their new LP, Amputheatre, so I had to check it out. Goddamn, I’m glad I did, because this is some top notch deathgrind. I got into deathgrind last year, thanks to the band Aborted, and how much I freaking loved their last LP, Retrogore, so I’ve definitely been more open to listening to some deathgrind, and this band really hits the spot for me. I absolutely love this record. It’s 28 minutes of blistering deathgrind of the highest caliber. Like I’ve said with a lot of these albums, it’s nothing unique. I’m not going to pretend this band does anything differently, but if you’re a fan of deathgrind, or you want to get into it, this is a perfect album to listen to, because fans of the genre will be insanely pleased by this thing, and newcomers will get a perfect idea as to what the album is all about. I’m absolutely in love with this album, and for good reason, because it’s a fantastic deathgrind album that does what it does insanely well.
6.  Lady Beast – Vicious Breed
Okay, here’s something a bit different, at least something that’s not as brutal or heavy as death metal, tech-death, or death grind – traditional metal! Well, more so in the vein of the NWOBHM, because that’s where PA metal band Lady Beast falls into. I talked about this band last year, before they released 2016’s Metal Immortal EP, and they’re a great “throwback”-ish band to the days of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Dio, just to name a few. I always love hearing stuff from this band, because they’re also a female-fronted band. Vocalist Deborah Levine is a great vocalist, and she’s got some killer pipes that work with this kind of music. Unsurprisingly, yeah, their new album, Vicious Breed, kicks a ton of ass. It’s a great traditional / NWOBHM album that captures that spirit perfectly. Now they didn’t do anything that other bands haven’t done before, and this album is really nothing different for them, either, but at the same time, I really like this album. They’re one of those bands that I could never get sick of hearing. They just have this sound that I can’t get enough of. If you enjoy 80s power metal, traditional heavy metal, speed metal, or the NWOBHM, definitely check out Lady Beast’s Vicious Breed. It’s easily one of the best metal albums of the year, as well as just one of the best albums of the year period.
5. Bind The Sacrifice – The Desecration Of Existence
Deathcore’s had a pretty good year. Albums from Thy Art Is Murder, Lorna Shore, Enterprise Earth, Shadow Of Intent, and tons more bands out there have been putting out some pretty good albums, but one album really struck me by surprise. That would be Bind The Sacrifice’s debut LP, The Desecration Of Existence. This band is awesome, because they remind me one of my favorite (former) deathcore bands, Veil Of Maya. Their new album, False Idol, is pretty good, but it doesn’t quite hold a candle to their first couple of albums. My favorite album from them is 2008’s The Common Man’s Collapse. I can’t believe that turns ten next year, because I first listened to that maybe a year after it came out. Yeah, I’m kind of old, but whatever. I’ve liked the direction that they’ve been going in, but I’m not super huge into djent-y kind of stuff, so I personally prefer their first couple of albums, where they were more of a tech-death band. Well, what if I told you that there’s a band that has that kind of sound. That would be Bind The Sacrifice, and their new LP, The Desecration Of Existence, which has a prog-deathcore sound that sounds like if The Common Man’s Collapse era Veil Of Maya combined itself with their current stuff. Well, their djent-y material, anyway, not necessarily adding clean vocals. Yeah, if you took Veil Of Maya’s classic tech-death sound and you combined it with prog-metal, you’d get this. This is some sick stuff, folks. This band, and this record, are some of the best deathcore you’ll hear all year. Personally, it’s my favorite deathcore album all year, because nothing has really been able top this.
4. Archspire – Relentless Mutation
If I had to pick a favorite tech-death album, well, that would go to Archspire’s Relentless Mutation. I decided to pick this LP up, just because I’ve been seeing their name around, but I had no idea what I was in for. This thing is amazing. It’s an album that really took me by surprise in the best ways. Relentless Mutation is what it says it is – relentless. This album manages to go above and beyond a lot of tech-death bands and albums that I’ve heard, because this album has a lot going for it. For starters, I was really surprised at how the vocals of this record were more percussive, versus going with the guitarwork. The vocals actually sync with the drums and percussion of the album, making for an even more intense listen. It’s not all the time they do that, but it’s still really cool. The instrumentation on this thing is absolutely nuts, too, and I love that there are a lot of slower moments on this album, because instead of annoying and pointless interlude songs, they use slower breaks in the same song to transition to another one. Not to mention, and the thing that I like most about this LP, is that it’s only half an hour long. This is one of those albums that I want to listen to again the moment I’m done, and what’s great about that is how intense, brutal, and technical this album is. It’s clear that these guys care a lot about the math behind the music, but they also deliver a technically brutal album. The album never becomes pretentious, exhausting, or starts to drag, because of how short it is. That also helps with the slower and breathing moments, as I call them, on the record, so you get a break here and there, but this is an album that I can’t get enough of. It’s absolutely awesome, and it’s an essential for every death metal fan, or tech-death fan.
3. Warbringer – Woe To The Vanquished
It’s kind of funny how things work, because I was in the process of getting my list almost finalized when I decided to pick up Warbringer’s newest LP, Woe To The Vanquished, which was released earlier this year. I heard about this LP, and it seemed like a thrash album that I might be into. Now that I’m getting more into thrash metal, I wanted to give some modern bands a go. Warbringer is a band that I’ve wanted to listen to for awhile, and holy shit, this album is awesome. This is thrash metal that is right up my alley, especially now that I know what I like. This band reminds me a lot of Exodus, Slayer, and Kreator. Those bands have a heavier, brutal, and more death metal-ly sound to their brand of thrash. Warbringer not only has a heavier, and more brutal sound, but they have some insane and intense guitarwork on this LP. The soloing, the riffs, and the overall speed and energy of this record is top notch. Not to mention, they make longer songs work, too, because the 11-minute closing track is a banger, too. This LP isn’t anything new, or really, really unique, but if anything, they’re similar to Power Trip (if you recall, I actually didn’t like Power Trip’s new album, Nightmare Logic, but I’ve been re-listening to that, too, and as you can see, it’s on my list now; it’s a really great album, but not quite great enough to be in the top, unfortunately), because they harken back to the classic days of thrash metal. Power Trip pay homage to bands that utilized more hardcore punk into their sound, whereas Warbringer brings to mind bands like Kreator and Slayer. In other words, bands that were heavier, more extreme, and that could easily be mistaken for a death metal band. Regardless, Woe To The Vanquished really took me by surprised, because goddamn, this album is awesome.
2. Cannibal Corpse – Red Before Black
This album might cause a bit of “controversy,” but not because it’s a bad album, just more so because Cannibal Corpse isn’t the most unique, revolutionary, or mindblowing band. I would say they weren’t influential, either, but mainly in terms of their music. They were influential, just how death metal could be kind of mainstream, and how insane a fanbase could be. I mean, okay, you had a band like Slayer with a devout fanbase, but Cannibal Corpse had a cult following behind them, and I think it was because death metal was beginning to really blossom around the time they formed. Red Before Black, their fourteenth album, is an impressive one for a couple of reasons. It’s impressive, because they’re almost 30 years in, and they’re still delivering great material, even though it’s essentially what we’ve already heard before, but they do bring some new ideas to the table. For starters, this thing is a bit catchy. I mean, listen to some of the guitar riffs, and tell me that it’s not catchy in the slightest, and it almost feels like frontman George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher is at the top of his game, because his vocals on this thing are nasty, but in the best ways. The reason I say this LP might be controversial to put at a high place in this list is because they’re a band that’s not known for diversity or even variation, and yeah, I can admit that. This sounds pretty similar to 2014’s A Skeletal Domain, which is the album that got me into them, but at the same time, I don’t mind it. Cannibal Corpse is meat and potatoes death metal, but that’s okay, because sometimes you need something like that. You’re not looking for fancy tech-death, which I would equate to a five-star restaurant, and in that case, Cannibal Corpse, and bands like them, give you exactly what you want. I’ve been coming back to this album a lot, and it’s because Cannibal Corpse is perfect for what I like. They’re just solid, awesome, gory, bloody, and brutal death metal.
1. The Black Dahlia Murder – Nightbringers
Like I said for my favorite non-metal album yesterday, this one shouldn’t be a shock to some people that have known my tastes for the last few years, as well as the last few months, because The Black Dahlia Murder’s Nightbringers, well, it’s my favorite metal album of the year. The Black Dahlia Murder was one of the first death metal bands I got introduced to, but when I picked up 2013’s Everblack, I knew I had to listen to more of their stuff, so I picked up everything they put out up to that point. I bought all of their music, and I was really excited for 2015’s Abysmal, and I really liked that album, too, but there’s just something about Nightbringers that makes me place this LP at the top of their discography. Well, among the top, I should say. This LP seems to bridge a lot of ideas together from their past work. You’ve got their classic melo-death sound, a lot of tech-death influence, some black metal influence, and even a lot of hardcore / thrash influence. The latter of all of those is something the band used to make themselves stand out, and it makes sense, because they’re awesome. According to Metal Blade CEO, Brian Slagel, he signed the band after hearing a song they put up on MySpace. How awesome is that? He must not be regretting that whatsoever, because The Black Dahlia Murder is one of the most important and revered metal bands in the death metal landscape today. This LP merely continues that, and it’s not like they’re rehashing themselves totally here. They kind of are, as a lot of death metal bands do, but they’re adding some new ideas here, all within the span of about a half hour. That’s the best part, because this album is only around a half hour, so it’s not very long whatsoever, and it’s an album that I’ve just wanted to keep coming back to over and over again.
