My heart just absolutely breaks thinking what if Majima knew beforehand that Kiryu's days were numbered but he was in denial, refusing to believe that a fucking illness of all things would put the nail in the Dragon's coffin. So when they finally meet in that shack, he starts their conversation with a taunt, because he needs to see it for himself to believe it. To come to terms with the fact that Kiryu is actually dying.
And so, they fight. It gets real ugly real quick and by the end of it, Majima's eye is glazed over with a terrifying realisation as he stands over Kiryu's beaten body, his breathing more laboured than it had any right to be.
Going into the fight, Majima wanted to be absolutely crushed by those large hands, years of pent up feelings and frustration being pounded down onto him. That way he'd know that the Dragon was still alive and kicking. That his Kiryu-chan was not actually dying an excruciatingly slow death.
But his victory rings like a funeral toll in his ears. This is all wrong. Kiryu Kazuma is supposed to his perfect rival, his true equal. The only one who could tame the Mad Dog. Not the bleeding, coughing mess of a man that laid underneath him. This couldn't be happening.
But when Kiryu looked at Majima, he felt more than saw the remnants of wildfire in the Dragon's eyes, flickering away more and more by the second. It took every single fibre of Majima's being to not end the poor bastard's life right there.
What was the use anyway—the Dragon was already dead.

after the intensity of kiryu’s response to the news that majima was (supposedly) killed and the lengths he went to to find who’s responsible and do god knows what to them and all that– it’s fucking wild that there was no kazumaji reunion at ALL at the end of y5 like are you kidding me. all of that rage and grief? and their relationship is brushed off like it doesn’t even exist more or less?? cruel cruel cruel

24 hours Cinderella
This bit of Majima Everywhere validated our prequel story about Majima and Kiryu meeting, and I will never get over it. And, in turn, with this context the throwaway part of fighting the breaker style became a lot more meaningful.
Tumblr media
So, a little summary.
First, we meet the actress in the club who makes Kiryu admit that in the 80s he often danced to forget his troubles.
After the break in Majima Everywhere, when Majima was preoccupied with his doubts and training in pocket circuit, we finally get the long awaited message. Nishida calls and asks Kiryu if he can dance. Because Majima wants to join him on the dancefloor, when Kiryu has time.
But in our walkthrough immediately after this call the bLOODY THING WITH SHINJI AND REINA HAPPENS!!!
And after all that, when Kiryu finally remembers about Majima and the dancefloor, it truly is something to take his mind off current events. It's a big callback to their first meeting, too, but somewhat less dramatic, because Majima is dressed like a disco ball. This makes Kiryu really smile for the first time in a while.

I will always find the idea of majima looking the same at 56 or whatever as he did at like. 42 because he goes and gets botox and filler and facials funny. But I also believe it.

Loved the essay, and it had a lot of thought provoking truths. Mine was an amazing character and I miss him dearly everyday 🥺 I still need to check out the story with Hamazaki and him.
But geez, Hamazaki was suspiciously fixated on Majima's relationship with Kiryu and the "Heeeeey what if Kiryu-san became the new chairman, Mine? Would that be fucked up or what 😳" just leaves me feeling ???? Like, what did he know, why them specifically, h u h.
mine IS such an amazing character, if not at least an incredibly interesting one to examine and think about. i love him dearly and while i miss him everyday, i can’t even imagine what the yakuza series would look like if he did survive Y3 and became a reoccurring cast member...
as for hamazaki’s fixation on kiryu, while i know the rggo stories were written after the mainline games, after reading the one i linked beforehand hamazaki at least has a personal reason to target kiryu so much and try to goad others into pouncing on him. but removing rggo’s existence, the most i can wager is that it’s nothing particularly personal, it’s just that hamazaki’s aware of kiryu’s popularity and strength and wants to try to turn people against him so hamazaki has a better shot at becoming chairman
#snap chats#hamazaki saying as much to mine especially tells us he wants kiryu out of the picture#i cant remember when the rggo story takes place but either way im willing to bet eveyrone's aware of mine's devotion to daigo#so by hamazaki reminding mine that daigo's position could be threatened by the likes of kiryu#it's more likely than not that mine would do what he could against kiryu to preserve daigo's status#of course at this point during that flashback daigo's status isn't exactly perfect but it's not totally fatal#so on hamazaki's end it was a bit of a gamble: get kiryu out of the picture and hopefully daigo would follow suit and not recover#of course things dont exactly turn out well for hamazaki either huh#it is a wonder why hamazaki tries to have majima go against kiryu though#i feel like just as everyone's aware of mine's devotion to daigo everyone should be aware of majima's faithfulness to kiryu#a weird move to be sure BUT oh well#ngl i really liked hamazaki- if not cause Y4 somehow made me like him lmao#i guess it was nice to see a character be able to redeem themselves for once- yk before like. immediately dying afterwards#but im getting off topic lmao thank you for the ask im glad you liked my essay :) i'll happily write another one if prompted or whatever lol#me answering this ask is such funny timing though in regards to the first half#i was JUST talking to my brother and theorizing what the yakuza series woulda been like had mine lived#thats definitely something i wanna try writing or at least looking into at some point#but... Say It With Me Now.... i gotta replay Y4 first LMAOOO#I DONT REMEMBER ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS IN Y4#ughhh i keep saying ill replay it but i never do#i wanna draw something quick so lets see...#no i dont think i can play it tonight i told my sister i'd pack her lunch tomorrow#i guess after that i can.... we'll see i'll end this post now tho im rambling lmao

I was going to wait until i finshed the game but i really want to talk about chapter 12 so spoilers ahead
Am i the only one who thought it was incredibly out of character for everyone? Kiryu travels for hours trying to find daigo, majima and saejima, and when they deny his request for help he starts guilt tripping them and talking about responsibility? As if hes never run from his problems in his life before?
But then at the same time i do believe at the very least saejima and maybe majima would be the first to want to help kiryu, yet when they see him asking for help for the first time in his life and also announcing he's dying they decide to... beat him up???? I need to watch the cutsecene again because why was majima so angry at kiryu all of a sudden like¿??¿¿?

I’m hoping/assuming that’s what kiryu’s hair will look like Naturally in y8 (ie: not the grey party city wig/bad dye job in the teaser/cover photo thing) and I say that partly cause if majima only has one piece of white hair at 60 but kiryu’s suddenly gone from none to full-grey in like the year between gaiden and 8? bullshit. majima should’ve started going grey in his 20s from sheer Stress I can NOT accept the concept of kiryu going full grey before him

UGH daigo who pretends to wanna see strip shows and go drinking as a 12 year old because he knows everyone around him isn't cool with him being a kid, so he tries to be less lame, to be more convenient. yeah, you can take me anywhere. in fact, you have to. i'll show you just how grown i am.
daigo who sheaths himself in black clothes, all bark and some bite, all dark and mysterious. all touch me and you'll get burned. playing hard to get. not that he doesn't want to be alone, but he sure as hell doesn't want to be lonely. and for that people have to like him. want to follow him. he's got to be a magnet. leave me alone, i'm not worth your time. so whoever picked him up from the gutter would really have to want him.
daigo who struggles to get his men in line as sixth chairman. daigo who only took the job because kiryu finally needed him. daigo who's never as good as the fourth chairman (who retired after a day, who never had to be chairman). daigo who never holds that against kiryu.
daigo who does what needs to be done, daigo who makes impossible decisions. daigo who rises to the occasion and swears in, daigo determined to be a better man than sohei ever was. daigo who sees the clan as his family, and tries to protect everyone in it. daigo who refuses to screw over kiryu's new family, and daigo who is shot for it. daigo who keeps the clan from tearing each other apart, whose absence brings out the worst in them. daigo who wakes up from a coma and saves kiryu and mine, daigo who comforts mine after, unable to even sit up properly. daigo who takes on a whole baseball team to protect his high school baseball team, daigo who's expelled and thrown in juvie for it. daigo who takes the hit because he knows he'll be yakuza someday anyway. daigo who protects his city. daigo who protects his men. daigo who works a way to offer his broke high school buddy millions of yen and another chance at his dream into his plans. daigo who shows his enemies mercy, daigo who rushes out injured to save the people who've helped him. daigo who tries to get kiryu off charges, who tries to push him to stay with his new family. daigo who loves his father fiercely, daigo who can be relied on. daigo who takes care of people.
daigo who kiryu gives the guidance he needs. daigo who kiryu pulls from depression, daigo who kiryu comes to rescue. majima comes back to the yakuza for, and kiryu who makes him, so he's not alone. daigo who shows mine what it means to care for others, why that's a trait worth dying for. daigo who mine feels he is not worthy of, daigo for whom mine sacrifices himself. daigo whom kiryu covers up mine's betrayal for because he didn't want to hurt him, and because mine was better than that. daigo who's forgiven for selling out majima, for getting caught in something stupid. daigo the "little chef". daigo who kiryu nearly jumps off a building to reach when he's shot, and saejima who holds him back. kiryu who leaves a letter for him, and not haruka, the always-chosen. daigo who's joined by saejima and majima when the tojo crumbles and they have to hide. daigo whose men follow him in the security company afterwards.
daigo who needed to be loved. daigo who loved anyway. daigo who was loved.
