Snail Kite (Rostrhamus sociabilis)
The Snail Kite is named because its diet consists almost entirely of Apple Snails. They glide low and slow over marshes, and drop to pick up a snail with one foot from the surfaces of water or plants. They are believed to turn to alternative food sources only when Apple Snails become scarce, such as during drought.

Studies of a beautiful red kite released yesterday on the nature reserve having recovered from being found grounded on a grouse moor a few weeks ago, full of shot pellets and with a broken wing.
Amazing work by the vets, wildlife rehabilitator and all involved! Back in the skies once more <3

Pearl Kite (gampsonyx swainsonii)
The Pearl Kite is the smallest raptor in the Americas, or the smallest neotropical raptor (various sources stated different things.). It feeds mainly on lizards, especially the Knobbed Pacific Iguana. However, it also takes small birds, frogs, and insects.
Note: from now on I will be tagging any photos which have prey items (dead animals which are food for the bird in the image) as 'prey item tw' if you would like to block that tag.
