I’d like to be a bit better with recording my workouts. Today, I did a 45 minute Peloton cycling class and made a PR on the output-- 404 kj. Then, I did a 10 minute arms video and a 5 minute ab video (I truly hate training core so much but I make it a point to do even just a little every time I work out). After that, I did a ~4.5 mile run at 9:30 minutes per mile.
Yesterday I was not feeling it but I did a 20 minute and a 30 minute spin Pelo class in the hopes that the endorphins would make me feel better. It didn’t.
I’ve been super anxious and agitated recently due to rona stress, job stress, family stress, and the inevitable nerves that I get when my sleeping and eating habits degrade. Today I’ll take extra care to go to sleep early and take one of my special-occasion meds to help me get there. Because for me, when sleep goes, so does everything else: healthy eating, social habits, hygiene, productivity. It’s gotta be my biggest priority.
Anyway, all the cardio today helped me pound out some stress. I’m going to go on a walk and listen to some calming music, and then I’ll put a bath on and try to relax before bed.

UK’s Queer History
Despite America’s Pride Month being June, most of the UK prides are, in fact, July. A lot of the LGBT+ history on Tumblr is American-centric too, so I thought I’d comply a quick notes version of UK LGBT+ History for my GB followers to understand a bit of their own history in two parts cause honestly, LGBT issues date back to roman times.
43 AD - Rome came and conquered, creating Britannia - Law first adopted to criminalise adultery amongst men.
324 AD - Roman emperors Constantius II and Constans issued an imperial decree to the Codex Theodosianus, which imposes an "exquisite punishment" for the crime of playing the ‘female role’ during sex
1327 AD -Edward II is killed. He had repeatedly fought with nobility who had banished his lover, the Earl of Cornwall. Chroniclers called the King's relationship with him as excessive, immoderate, beyond measure and reason and criticised his desire for wicked and forbidden sex.
1395 AD - John Rykener, A london prostitute who worked under the name, ‘Eleanor’ was arrested for Cross-dressing (the sources I read referred to them as transvestite but there’s not much on them so I’ve left my description as neutral as I could)
1533 AD - Henry VIII passes the Buggery Act of 1533, condemning all m/m acts of sexuality. Only sodomy was punishable by death, and included m/f couples and animals. Other acts between men were classes as gross indecency or indecent assault.
1580AD – King James VI of Scotland, King James I England, began a relationship with Franco-Scottish Lord Esmé Stewart, 1st Duke of Lennox. Lennox was a relative and 24 years senior to James, married and the father of 5 children. The influence Lennox had on politics, and the resentment at the wealth they acquired, became major political issues during his reign. Nobles forced King James to banish Lennox to France. They remained in secret contact. (Lennox died in 83 and his heart was taken back to KJ)
1606 - King James I of England began a relationship with Robert Carr, 1st Earl of Somerset. KJ gave his a ridiculous amount of teachings, wealth and titles. KJ had another lover who he also gave wealth and power to, like by 1623 Villiers was the highest ranking subject outside of the royal household,
King James I was a disaster gay who gave his bf the world.
1680 – A same-sex marriage was annulled. Arabella Hunt married "James Howard"; in 1682 the marriage was annulled on the ground that Howard was in fact Amy Poulter, and two women could not validly marry
1722 – John Quincy, M.D., writes about lesbianism in his second edition of the Lexicon Physico Medicum. According to Quincy, confricatrices or confictrices were terms used by authors for lesbians "who have learned to titulate one another with their clitoris, in imitation of venereal intercourse with men”
1724 - Margaret Clap better known as Mother Clap, ran a coffee house from 1724 to 1726 in Holborn, London. The coffee house served as a Molly House for the underground gay community. In ‘26 there was a raid and 3 men were hanged.
1772 – The first public debate about homosexuality began during the trial of Captain Robert Jones who was convicted of the capital offence of sodomizing a thirteen-year-old boy. The debate during the case and with the background of the 1772 Macaroni prosecutions considered Christian intolerance to homosexuality and the human rights of men who were homosexual. Jones was acquitted and received a pardon on condition that he left the country.
1785 – Jeremy Bentham becomes one of the first people to argue for the decriminalisation of sodomy in England, which was punishable by hanging. The essay written about 1785, Offences Against One's Self, argued for the liberalisation of laws prohibiting homosexual sex. He argued that homosexual acts did not weaken men, nor threaten population or marriage. The essay was never published in his lifetime.
The 19th century started with a load of raids on underground gay scenes
1812 – James Miranda Barry graduated from the Medical School of Edinburgh University as a doctor. Barry lived as a man but was found to have a ‘female body’ upon his death in 1865.
1828 – The Buggery Act 1533 was repealed and replaced by the Offences against the Person Act 1828. Buggery remained punishable by death.
1861 – The death penalty for buggery was abolished. A total of 8921 men had been prosecuted since 1806 for sodomy with 404 sentenced to death and 56 executed.
1866- Marriage is defined as a ‘man and a woman’ which prevented same sex marriage.
1897 – George Cecil Ives organizes the first homosexual rights group in England, the Order of Chaeronea. Dr Helen Boyle and her partner, Mabel Jones, set up the first women-run General Practice in Brighton, including offering free therapy for poor women. Helen Boyle also founded the National Council for Mental Hygiene (which subsequently becomes MIND) in 1922. British sexologist Havelock Ellis publishes Sexual Inversion, the first volume in an intended series called Studies in the Psychology of Sex. He argues that homosexuality is not a disease but a natural anomaly occurring throughout human and animal history, and should be accepted, not treated.

hello hello sweet treats! i’m naomi, 21, bruce banner fan club president, and overall walking 404 error page. my skills include falling asleep instantly for 50 minutes at a time, losing a race to a 4th grader, and wondering do i really need this job??? every morning when i wake up. if your finger slips and you open up that read more you will find information about my less interesting son.
↳ ( the demure ) noah iosefa fox, eighteen, senior, kj apa.
noah moved to westport when he was 10 (idk if people remember things from when they are 10 but if they do he just appeared out of no where tbh, but they would probably know that he was raised by his grandparents because his mom is missing )
i live in this fantasy world where people call him FOX, his lastname, because that’s how coaches differentiate students so like if they aren’t that close that could be chill? but also just noah works fine because those are just my dreams and not necessarily reality. xo
if they are fairly close, they would know that he tends to geek out fairly easily on the select number of things he’s passionate about it - movies, bruce banner, mechanics & engineering.
noah LOVES cinematography. he’s fascinated by how movies are made and the production behind all the movie magic. gifted a camera by his grandparents, he hopes to capture the world as it is - raw, abrasive, and not at all what you’d expect. he’s extremely fond of facts and would rather be able to back something up with tangible evidence over ‘a gut feeling’.
otherwise, noah only loves cold, hard #FACTS and thrives off not answering questions in class.
he’s apart of the swim and football team but he’s not popular in the least.
potential superlatives: most likely to eat an entire ham in one sitting, most likely to win a staring contest.
if reading any of that hasn’t scared you away, please hmu for plots or whatever. i’m really down for anything.

Changing Behavior
Hello team!
Like we have stated before, the overall goal of the prevention of childhood obesity and overweight campaign is to educate and change behavior. Obesity within families is very cyclical, and the only way to effectively change behavior is a successful intervention.
The intervention in this campaign is focusing on the education and behavior change of the parents, which progressively changes the outlook and behavior of the entire family. A family that has obese children very rarely has non-obese parents. Focusing on just the children is not effective or healthy for a family environment. The campaign has to focus on a family that is healthy together, thrives together.
The one behavior I wanted to focus on first is the foods we eat. This is going to include the foods we shop for, the foods we keep at home, even the foods we tend to gravitate towards when we are hungry. The goal of changing this behavior and changing the way we eat and what we eat is to fuel our bodies healthier, increase our metabolism and get us energized and moving. Eating healthier will help with all of those. Ridding the body of less chemicals and eating cleaner will help you move, think clearer and even sleep better.
The types of foods we eat obviously play a huge role in how our body functions and preforms. Think of it like a car or any other type of machine. The type of fuel you put into your body, either helps the body preform and maintain well, or just the opposite. So, how do think a body performs when it is running on sugar, trans fat snacks, heavy carbohydrates, little water or greasy foods?
There is a ton of research on foods and diet patterns that protect against heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other chronic conditions that are a direct result of obesity. The good news is that many of the foods that help prevent disease also seem to help with weight control-foods like whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Many of the foods that increase disease risk- for example refined grains and sugary drinks-are also factors in weight gain. Most people will argue that a calorie is a calorie, no matter what the source. Also, all you have to do is eat less and exercise more. This holds some truth, however, more and more research is showing that what type of nutrients you put into your body, along with the eating patterns, have a long term effect on health and disease prevention.
Over the past 30 years in the U.S., the percentage of calories from fat in people’s diets has gone down, but obesity rates have skyrocketed.1 What? That doesn’t make sense does it? Well, when you look at the facts surrounding what you are actually eating, it does.
Carefully conducted clinical trials have found that following a low-fat diet does not make it any easier to lose weight than following a moderate- or high-fat diet. In fact, study volunteers who follow moderate- or high-fat diets lose just as much weight, and in some studies a bit more, as those who follow low-fat diets.1 And when it comes to disease prevention, low-fat diets don’t appear to offer any special benefits.1 Just because it says low-fat, doesn’t mean that is it good for you. This may be the most confusing and genius “wool over the eyes” trick the market has ever pulled on the consumer.
For good health, the type of fat people eat is far more important that the amount and there’s some evidence that the same may be true for weight control.1 In a Nurses’ Health Study2, for example, which followed 42,000 middle-age and older women for eight years, increased consumption of unhealthy fats-trans fats was linked to weight gain, but increased consumption of healthy fats-monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat-was not.2
Even small changes like replacing red and processed meat with nuts, beans, fish, or poultry seems to lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes. This diet strategy may help with weight control, too, according to a recent study from the Harvard School of Public Health.3 Researchers tracked the diet and lifestyle habits of 120,000 men and women for up to 20 years, looking at how slight changes contributed to weight gain over time.3 People who ate more red and processed meat over the course of the study gained more weight-about a pound extra every four years. People who ate more nuts over the course of the study gained less weight-about a half pound less every four years.
One significant part of this behavior change is to watch out for fast food! Fast food is known for its huge portions, low prices, addicting taste, and high sugar content. There’s also evidence from studies in teens and adults that frequent fast-food consumption contributes to overeating and weight gain.4 The CARDIA study, for example, followed 3,000 young adults for 13 years. People who had higher fast-food-intake levels at the start of the study weighed an average of about 13 pounds more than people who had the lowest fast-food-intake levels. They also had larger waist circumferences and greater increases in triglycercides, and double the odds of developing metabolic syndrome.4
A couple tips to get you started; I am leaving a couple websites below that have fantastic resources for what to eat, dinner ideas, ways of tracking what you eat and how many calories. Also, how to develop a healthy eating pattern and even how to eat on a budget.
One tip I always like to give is when you are grocery shopping, try and shop just the outer most isles. If you look, the outside isles are fruits, meats, dairy and everything fresh. Once you start to venture into the center of the store, you start to get into the processed foods, starches, and frozen items. Try to stay fresh and plan out your meals for the week. This will make it much easier as you start to get crazy with all of your family and work taskings. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
