Some say that pirates steal and should be feared and hated. I say they’re victims of bad press; it’s all exaggerated. Thoughts?

"Bad press and exaggerated in that pirates are not being properly feared. You should fear them, because pirates can and will kill. What is 'bad press' is the attitude around pirates. They're either too romanticized, viewed as something inhuman, or not taken seriously at all, no in-between.

"It seems the only people who have the proper attitude regarding pirates and see us as what we are would be pirate hunters. They see us as violent outlaws. Because that's what pirates are.

"Now granted, pirates are much more diverse than people credit them for, and I'm not talking race and orientation. There are pirates with political motivations; Blackbeard is one of them. And then you have the twits like Rackham. Female pirates are not restricted to only Mary Read and Anne Bonney, and no, they did not dress themselves with male-coded clothing to hide their genders. 'A General History of the Pyrates' is so full of artistic liberties and inaccuracies, they make the Pirates of the Caribbean films look like documentaries. And don't get me started on Howard Pyle."

Have you ever thought of what the Crew might be doing in the far future? Maybe even travelling the stars to get the Eye? I ask because sea travel and space travel have some neat parallels.

//Actually, highly unlikely. While they do have parallels, the Master as much as possible would rather keep his thralls into the sea, as this is his domain (or so he claims, as he is capable of land travel even into desert).

In the case of crossover RP where the setting is in space (like DOOM or Metroid), I tend to have the Master himself travel there to see what souls lie within the stars. If we are into the far future by this point, the Master would have done something to his thralls to keep them from exiting his reach into space. This can range from just outright destroying their bodies for good and inserting their souls into objects, only to call upon them as needed, or have some sort of fail-safe spell on them wherein if they attempt to get anywhere further than the stratosphere, they turn to salt (permadeath).

So in RPs where the setting is in space, the Master tends to be the main muse for those scenarios. If we're talking a scenario where Earth has been destroyed, then the "soul in objects" condition is in place. And because we're talking so far into the future and yet even STILL the Eye has not been found (likely discovered by someone else and taken with them to the Ishimura or something lmao), the Master would have lost a lot of patience in his own thralls to do the searching for him. But he still needs them; hence why he is unwilling to just turn them into salt and be done with it. Especially when there is no guarantee he'll obtain new thralls in their place.

Hey, just wanted to say that Ruixong inspired one of my NaNoWriMo characters! She also wants to be a legendary hero! (Too bad she’s going through an identity crisis at the moment.)

//Oh, that is so wonderful, I thank you so much! Ruixiong is often so hard a character to write because I have to straddle that fine line between being an insufferable bragging idiot and a human being with both comic and tragic traits, so to see he is an inspiration makes my day like you have *no* idea!
