Knitting hack: when I only have to do a set of instructions every other round, I get out a spare stitch marker. During the “active” round it sits in front of me on the table, reminding me to do the increases. When I hit the end of the round, I slip it on the needle. No stitch marker friend? No increases. And when I get back to it, I slip it off again.

I thought I was dealing with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, so I googled some home therapy techniques. I ended up discovering that Im actually suffering from De Quervain's Tenosynovitis, which is a fancy way of saying my wrist hurts on the thumb side. I own an Etsy shop for my knits bc people kept asking about them. They are these huge super soft infinity scarves. I get really nice yarn and it can take me an entire day to make them. Also because of how I knit them I’m literally attached to it from start to finish.

I made a small one for my sister as a present. It didn’t even take a full skien of yarn to make it so it was a pretty easy little knit for her. She lit up when she opened it because she’s always cold and it was perfectly sized for her. My step mom was there when she opened it and was admiring the stitching and fabric and turns to me and goes, “ooooh can you make me a blanket like that?”

I laughed after a horrified look as I instantly mentally calculated the sheer amount of yarn I’d need for a blanket. An ADULT sized blanket. I use thick yarn. My yarn is not cheap. I’m not even sure how many skiens of yarn it would really take but I’m guessing probably around 6-8. I began making scarves after realizing just how much yarn I’d have to buy to make a blanket. Plus like I said, I am literally attached to it from start to finish because of how I knit my stuff.

That was not something I was prepared to do without being paid AT ALL.

She looked angry as I tried to compose myself from the sheer thought of having to make a blanket when I haven’t even made myself one yet. “Uh no that’s something you’d have to order through my shop because it takes ALOT of yarn. Like I can’t afford to do that right now unless it’s through my shop.”

I didn’t even give her a number. Chances are she won’t order one once she sees that it’ll probably be around $100 for an adult sized blanket.

Knitters be like “I’m going to tie a knot so elaborate you can wear it as a fashion accessory.”

Everyone else be like “Yes, but will you do it for me for free?”

Pardon the horrid mirror photos, but I’m in a quandary about the length of this sweater! The hem/cuff will be the same either way, as pictured on the left. Please weigh in! Cropped pros and cons: more versatile with skirts and dresses, but not as nice with pants. May emphasize my middle rather than slim it. Will leave yarn left over, when I’d rather use it up. Perhaps I like it only because it’s en vogue, but not as timeless? Long pros and cons: More winter-appropriate and warm, but won’t be long enough to cover my bum and wear with leggings. Perhaps more slimming, or perhaps the added length also adds bulk.
