You were woken up by a beam of bright sunlight entering a window. Still half asleep, you let your gaze travel up to the face of the woman asleep next to you with her limbs tangled in your own, her arms pulling your face against her soft boobs. Sleeping like that, Seyia looked peaceful, even angelic. She looked completely different to the woman who'd made you cum until your legs were shaking last night and you'd completely lost count of the orgasms. This was the woman who, after the concert, had driven you back to the apartment in her limousine, pushed you onto the bed and completely ripped off your clothes like it was just an everyday occurrence for her.

Which, to be honest, it probably was.

You sat up, remembering that your shift at Rei's shrine was about to start. Being late would not be a good look, especially after you'd relied on her completely for a place to crash. As soon as you shifted, however, you felt a muscular arm pull you back.

"And just where do you think you're going ?" Seyia was smirking and looking at you through half lidded eyes.

"I have work soon, so..." even after last night, something about this woman's presence made you feel flustered in a way you couldn't explain. All your thoughts seemed to melt away into nothing when she looked at you.

"I can drive you, relax," Seyia replied lazily. "Besides," she continued, her smirk growing as she let her gaze drift to the ripped underwear and blouse lying in a heap next to the bed. "It's not like you have anything to wear yet,"

You felt the heat rush to your face.

"And whose fault is that, exactly ?" Who says prodding the sleeping dragon always has to be a bad thing ?

"Drop the attitude, baby. Or do you want me to fuck it out of you that bad ?"

A surge of heat immediately rushed to your legs as you averted your gaze and tried to hide your face with your hands.

The thought was more tempting than you cared to admit, especially considering it had just been a one night stand, a way to prove that, even if Haruka left you, you were still desirable. Still attractive.

You were still stood there, unmoving as Seyia made her way to her walk in closet and picked out a simple white blouse and some loose black trousers for you. You muttered a quick thanks and took the clothes from her.

"Need any help getting dressed ?" she asked as she wrapped herself in a semi-transparent black robe. Before you had the chance to reply, she walked over to you again and started to slip the blouse on your frame, her long fingers teasing your skin with slow, deliberate movements. When she finally reached your chest, you had to suppress a grunt.

"Why are you looking at me like that, Y/N ? I'm just helping you dress," Seyia said as she inched her her face closer to your own and started to leave a trail of kisses and gentle bites on your ear. Just as you were starting to grind your pelvis against her, she pulled away and flashed you a teasing grin. You whimpered, feeling empty without the warmth of her touch.

"Look at yourself, Y/N," Seyia said with something like satisfaction in her voice

For the first time since las night, you looked at yourself properly in Seyia's mirror.

Your body was completely covered in large purplish hickeys, some in places that would be quite difficult to cover.

"How will I cover these up ? I don't have any scarves or makeup or-"

"Don't. Let the whole world know who makes you feel this good now. You're my little slut," Seyia replied, still admiring the marks all over your skin.

You nodded, your mind reverting back to the trancelike state it had been in last night, until Seyia spoke again.

"Well, we should probably get going if you wanna be on time to that shift," she thrust a pair of chunky boots in your direction. "As adorable as you look in my oversized clothing, it probably won't be comfortable to constantly step on the trouser hems,"

You nodded, burying your nose in the material of the blouse as you bent down to put the boots on. It smelled like musky, pine wood perfume and laundry detergent. As soon as you started to walk towards the door, however, you realised how difficult moving your legs properly was. They felt shaky and unstable, kind of like they were made of jelly.

"Looks like I was a little too rough, sorry about that" Seyia said, with a grin that made it clear that this was exactly what she had intended. Before you could come up with a comeback, she'd swept you off your feet and was carrying you, bridal-style, towards her car.

AS you were enjoying your lunch break in the peace of the shrine, your phone started ringing. You picked it up, almost dropping when you saw the contact name.

Haruka bae is calling

You stood completely still for a few seconds, completely in shock. Then, before you had even processed what you were doing, your thumb pressed the green "accept" button.

"Y/N ? What took you so long to pick up ?"

Still too stunned to speak, you tried to pull yourself together and answer, but Haruka beat you to it.

"Never mind. Listen, have you seen tody's issues of all the tabloids and celebrity gossip magazines ?"

"No," you managed to reply. Why on earth was your ex fiancée asking you about fucking celebrity gossip magazines ? She had never been interested in such things. Under different circumstances, you would have bust a gut laughing.

"Well, they're all plastered with pictures of you in that idol's car... Seyia I think her name was. Don't you think before you act ? How do you think it makes me look, that my ex is fooling around with flashy idols not a month after our breakup ? The press will have a field day. God, what are you even doing, letting yourself be picked up by random women like that. Don't you have any self respect or are you just that desperate ?!"

Unprecedented rage was coursing through your veins and conquering your mind. Suddenly, all the shock was completely gone.

"You really have the fucking audacity to ask me how I think it makes YOU look, Haruka ? YOU were literally the one who cheated on me and dumped me, not the other way round. And you know what ? I don't give a flying fuck about your stupid reputation. I'm free to lead life how I want now, and you don't get a say in anything that I do. So if I want to go around and sleep with every woman from here to America, it's none of your fucking business and you sure as hell can't stop me,"

You hung up before she had a chance to reply, still fuming. However, as you sat there and avoided the judgemental glances of the shrine visitors, you felt a bubble of something rise up in your chest that you hadn't felt in so long, you'd almost forgotten what it was. The more you sat there and thought about that phone call, the more this magical sensation spread through your body and made you feel light, invincible.

For the first time in months, you were in control of your own life.

i can't stay quiet about this anymore. for weeks now i've thought, noo i won't write about knights of the zodiac on my blog. nobody cares. BUT it is the weirdest fucking movie i've ever seen and i need to tell you about it.

knights of the zodiac is an american made live action adaptation of the anime/manga saint seiya. before this film, i'd never even heard of it, but that doesn't matter, because i watched an interview with mackenyu (who plays seiya) who said that the director told him not to bother watching the anime or reading the manga, because he wanted this movie to be its own thing. you know, which is always a great way to bring in your core audience.

with that said, i'm viewing this film entirely on its own merit, with no context of the source material. so saint seiya fans may not want to read this.

the movie came out this past may. i was excited about it for no other reason than mackenyu starring in an american action movie. i'm honestly a little surprised people weren't more jazzed about that. there aren't a lot of japanese actors starring in big budget american action movies.

other cast members include sean bean (who, spoiler alert, dies), famke janssen, and mark dacascos. in case you don't recognize those names, they are, respectively, boromir/ned stark, jean grey from x-men, and the iron chef. if nothing else, i think it's worth watching for the utterly bizarre casting.

the premise, sort of: mackenyu, who appears to be contractually obligated to play angsty younger brother characters (i think this is the 7th thing i've seen him in where he is an angsty younger brother), has an older sister who is missing. he's a poor orphan boy who gets by on winning cage fights. or something. so boromir finds him and tells him he's destined to be athena's bodyguard, and he gets on board with this alarmingly fast, but not after antagonizing athena (who is not yet athena) and throwing out some snarky one-liners. he trains in the middle of nowhere with a masked lady who repeatedly kicks his ass, and he never changes clothes the entire time. there's other stuff too but it's secondary to the absolute batshittery of this movie.

i saw it on premiere night, which was also the premiere night of the new guardians of the galaxy movie. again, A+ move by the promotional team. so there i was on a saturday at 7pm. prime movie going time. and my best friend and i were the only ones in the theater.

although i had no real expectations for this movie beyond Mackenyu Hits Things And Is Sad, i believed one of two things would happen: it would be as terrible as it sounded, or it would actually be phenomenal. but no, it was neither bad, nor good, but a secret third thing: it scratched a deep and rabid part of my id.

and by that i mean, it appeared to be a very high budget love letter to glaringly submissive men.

here's my letterboxd review that i wrote in the brief hypomanic episode succeeding my initial viewing:

okay so first and most importantly, this scene made me actually scream:

it's a joke line, sure, but 1) he definitely means it, and 2) he immediately calls her "princess," which if you've ever read my fic, you'll know that that's a one-hit KO for me.

(putting this under a cut because it's already long)

you see how athena is framed above seiya? that is one of approximately 1000 shots where this occurs. to every male character. at one point, mackenyu perches gingerly on the back of athena's motorcycle. in fact the only male character who attempts to be dominant aggressive and toxically masculine becomes the punching bag of the film.

in the beginning, seiya is in a cage match where people are getting angry at him for "dancing," which means he doesn't fight so much as avoids getting hit and looks pretty doing it. a solid third of the movie involves a very large lady beating the crap out of him. the premise of the film is getting him to devote his entire life to a goddess and obey protect her at all costs.

i'm probably the only one who watched this movie and was like, hmm is this kink coded? am i insane for seeing this? usually when i think of kink coding i think of quentin tarantino's foot fetish, these long gaudy shots of women's feet hanging out of car windows. it's in the imagery and shot composition and power dynamics.

here, the imagery is a lot of kneeling men, the shot compositions repeatedly place the men lower than the women, and the power dynamics are simply that the women have all the power, and the men have a little, as a treat. jean grey is a straight-up femdom, leather and all.

by the end of the climax, seiya is naked, having been stripped of his (magical and very powerful) armor as pre-athena becomes athena and uh, blasts his clothes off in the process. there's probably something to be said there about, you know, literally stripping him of his power.

i think what i find particularly remarkable about this is that the repeated feminization of the male lead is treated as a good thing. a self-actualizing thing. it's the process through which he accepts himself and his destiny. that's the reason i say it's a love letter--i've known a lot of submissive men and many of them really struggle to accept that part of themselves. i had a friend once who was so ashamed of himself--not just that he was submissive, but that submission was an integral part of his identity--that he had a breakdown in my car over it. so i think it's nice seeing a vaguely positive portrayal of finding oneself through (textually) devotion and (subtextually) submission.

god help me, seiya spends the entire film being irritating and bratty. this movie is my personal kryptonite.

don't get me wrong, it's a terrible movie. the writing is awful, the direction is awful, and if it gets a second film, i'll be shocked. it received a 1.9 (out of 5) on letterboxd and a 4.4 (out of 10) on imdb.

but i've also always been a lover of the star wars prequels (and oh boy there's a lot to be said there about submissive men) and so my patience for bad writing is infinite in the face of interesting things happening on a character level. in a world of disneyfied stock plots and bloated marvel franchises, i appreciate when a movie tries to do something different, even if it doesn't do it very well.

anyway, i can't in good conscience recommend it, but i for one plan to watch it at least a hundred more times.

For the past few weeks, you'd just been moping around at Rei's place. You'd found yourself a job working at her shrine a few days after you arrived there, and, though you meant to find yourself some proper accommodation, the thought of living alone seemed almost impossible. You knew that, without Rei there to encourage you and give you strength, you'd fall apart all over again, and the pain of having lost her would grow sharper and sharper until it was impossible to ignore. When you weren't working, you spent the majority of your time in the guest bedroom you were staying in, lying on the bed and idly scrolling through social media while you tried not to cry. Nothing seemed enjoyable or worth doing anymore- you'd tried many times to picture what life had been like before Haruka, and what kinds of things you'd done, but all you saw was blank emptiness.

Late one Saturday morning, as you were staring at the ceiling while remembering your life with her, Rei burst into the room. She looked serious.

"I know that breakups are hard, Y/N, but you can't just decide to completely bring your life to a stop because of her. Don't give her that much power over you,"

You looked at Rei, trying as hard as you could to mask your annoyance. While you appreciated her greatly, she simply didn't get it.

"Rei, I'm not choosing to feel this way. And I've just lost my entire world. How do you want me to react ? Do you expect me to shrug my shoulders and move on ? God, I swear you just don't-"

"I never said that, Y/N. Moving on, however, is a choice. It starts with your actions and your attitude. That's why you're coming out with the rest of the girls and I today,"

You opened your mouth to protest

"I don't want to hear it. I'm not giving you a choice. Now get up and put your clothes on,"

Grumbling, you got up and went to the bathroom to get ready. You knew there was no arguing with Rei when she got like this. Maybe she was right, and seeing your friends would lift your spirits. You sighed as you threw on a hoodie and baggy tracksuit bottoms. You really didn't have the energy for this.

"Y/N, are you ready ?" Rei called from outside

"Yeah, I'm coming,"

As the afternoon passed, it became increasingly clear that maybe Rei had been right- despite your initial reluctance, it had been the best day in a while. There were even moments, when you roamed the shops and chatted with Mako, Mina and Usagi, that made you feel like nothing had changed. They were fleeting, but precious nonetheless.

"So Y/N... I bought tickets for all of us to see three lights tonight. I know that maybe with the whole Haruka thing you don't feel like coming tonight, but they're only in Japan for this week," Mina looked at you with pleading eyes.

"Remind me... which group is three lights again ?" You asked. You doubted you'd be interested.

With stars in her eyes, Mina took a journal out of her bag and shoved it in front of your face. You took it, rolling your eyes slightly. It was full of cut outs from magazine articles and photographs. You let your gaze rest on the woman in the middle. She had long, dark hair and was very toned. What really struck you were her eyes- there was something haunting about them, something that demanded your attention.

You could feel yourself getting a little hot.

"Ok, fine. Let's go see three lights," you said before you'd even thought about it," Mina and Mako cheered and hugged you

"I take it seeing how hot Seyia is changed your mind. I can't blame you, and she's probably even more attractive in the flesh !" Mako exclaimed, grinning at you.

"No, I just want to listen to some music," you said, feeling your face grow hot

"Uhuh yea sure thing," Mina said, giggling. "Anyway, we should catch the next bus to the stadium to make sure we get there on time,"

You got there and found your seats, all with around 30 minutes to spare.

"Why are we so absurdly early ? We could have caught the next bus," you said as you took your seat next to Ami. Waiting around like this was making you anxious in a way you couldn't explain.

"Well, we needed to make sure. Also, maybe three lights will notice us if we get here early... they might even ask us out on dates," Mina replied, her eyes going dreamy.

"Yeah whatever. I'll get you some concert snacks," you said, standing up and heading out before the others even had a chance to reply.

You wondered around the circumference of the stadium, confused. The sign said you could get snacks around here, but you couldn't seem to find a stall. You saw some guys in suits crowding around a door not too far away from you.

"That must be backstage," you thought to yourself "Which means that this one is the snack stall,". You opened the door a few paces away from the first door and went in.

The sent of musky perfume hit you as soon as you stepped in. You looked around and realised you'd made a terrible mistake. This was backstage, as evidenced by all the clothes and makeup and mirrors scattered around.

That, and the fact that Ko Seiya was standing with the back to you, tying the back of her top in front of a mirror. She turned around, the suspicion on her face quickly replaced by amusement when she met your gaze.

"Well well, what are you doing here all alone ?" She asked, the hint of a smile on her lips.

"This is really embarrassing, but I entered the wrong door. Really sorry, I'll get goi-"

"No. I didn't tell you to leave," you turned back around immediately. Seiya continued.

"Keep me company instead. You look like you could be fun to play with,". She ran her hand from your cheek down to your chest and rested it there. You swallowed. You knew this was forbidden, that you could never truly be with her, that you didn't even know her, that your heart still belonged to Haruka... yet, none of that seemed to matter as she slipped her hands under your shirt and took it off. You wrapped your arms around her, kissing her passionately as you unhooked the back of her top. Gradually, her lips started to move down your neck, leaving a trail of small bites and hickeys as her fingers toyed with your nipples. You let out a loud moan.

"That's right, babe. Don't hold back, let the entire world know that you're my little sex toy," your breath hitched as she started to take off your trousers, running her fingers along the waistline of your underwear and snapping it against your hips. A loud buzzer sounded, breaking you out of your trance. Seyia pulled away from you and smirked.

"I'm on now, but would you be good for me and wait here until the concert finishes ? I'm not done with you yet, sweetheart,"

You nodded, your eyes wide as Seiya left, giving your ass one last smack before walking away.

You knew it would all go to shit. You knew that it was just for one night, that tomorrow reality would come crushing down on you again.

And yet, you couldn't help but hope.

At last I have gotten around to updating my shop with original art - that is, physical drawings and paintings 🙌

This first batch 1 up has lots of tribute/fanart, including several Repostober features I featured already. A large number of Yu Yu Hakusho, of course, but also some Star Ocean, Saint Seiya and Drakengard 2. And several original subjects! Some pieces even have bonus art or sketches/doodles on the back 😆 This is noted in the description and there are photos!

Batch 2 will be mostly original subject matter. I'm aiming to have that up later this month... is what I was thinking, but I may also add them here and there over the course of the next couple of days. It does seem to be a lot easier to do that every so often now that I have the first bundle up than to amass another giant wave.

As I note in the description on each listing, because these are the original drawings (not prints), they can't be replaced. Thus, the shipping method shown includes tracking. If you purchase several pieces, the additional shipping will generally be super minimal because these are flat sheets of paper! (Do note - the shikishi boards, like the ones in the first photo above with the yamadori, are flat, but rigid. They can't be rolled up so if you pick one of them plus a big piece that needs to be in a tube. The materials are all clearly labelled in the descriptions.)
