I am aware that Kolkata's Durga Pujo has ended weeks back, as a matter of fact Kali Pujo and henceforth all the festivities have ended for this year :(
This post is definitely related to Maa Durga, but it is not related to the festival. I was watching a beautiful Bengali film, "Durgeshgorer Guptodhon" and had a piffany. I wanted to share the same here. We are all aware of Maa Durga's majestic look and how she is welcomed every year. We are also familiar with her family- Karthikey, Ganesh, Maa Lakshmi and Maa Saraswati with Lord Shiva. Everyone has their pets(Bahon in Bengali) right beside them, and so is Maa Durga.
The question here is: did it ever cross anyone's mind that the entire structure which has been worshipped for decades signifies our entire earth? Well, it does.
To elaborate a little further. We have good and evil depicted by Maa Durga and Asura, win of good over bad- depicted by the Trisula which Maa Durga holds. The interesting part is that we have plants and all other animals within the same structure that represents the earth and we have the entire ecosystem constituted within it. Let me explain a little more. We have a Banana tree right beside Lord Ganesh, who is considered as his wife- thus we have the plant kingdom. To continue further, we have a snake beside Asura and peacock beside Lord Karthikey, lion beside Maa Durga and Ox beside Asura, rats/rodents beside Asura and Owl beside Maa Lakshmi. The above explanation clearly depicts the beautiful ecosystem of which we are all aware.
I am not sure how many people will be able to relate, but to understand it a little more I am sharing a picture(downloaded from Internet).
I connected with this thought so much that I felt like sharing the same here. Hope you all enjoy the same and may Maa bless us all !!

The festival celebrates the victory of the Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. It is also believed that Lord Rama worshiped the goddess Durga and sought God’s blessings before going into battle against Ravana.
