'Merican yokai: Starce
Starce is a 'merican yokai of the Mysterious tribe and is Rank S. Not much is known about its origin, but it is possibly a strange variation of the Koma Star, even though it is not considered a Legendary Merican. He's has a strong influence from Western culture from the old west.
His personality is described as a respected guy, with a good sense of humor and kind. He doesn't like bad guys and whenever he sees such people he threatens them with his two pistols.
About the design, he is a blond humanoid yokai with a long ponytail, eyes similar to Koma Star, cowboy look with two "ornaments" on the hat that resemble the horns of a komainu. He has a bow tied in his hair which is based on the bow in ykw3's themes.
'Merican medal

Around The World in 80 Days:
Friendship
So. I have recently watched "Around The World in 80 Days" (2021), starring David Tennant, Leonie Benesch and Ibrahim Koma. And i have not stopped thinking about it since.
But one thing that has really stuck with me is that, among other things, the show is a story of friendship.
I love that the story is not a romance story, despite having romance aspects. We know that Fogg was or still is deeply in love with Estella and leaving her is his biggest regret. He even outrights says the words too. He tells her how much he loves her.
But his motivation and character go way beyond that (which deserve its own seperate post)
We can also see that there is a deeper connection forming between Passepartout and Abigail. Yet, they never even kiss. Which is honestly quite unusual. Any other show would have made them kiss. I mean, a man and a woman with this much chemistry? Sure, they almost do before getting interrupted but that is it.
They even share a very delicate and emotional slowdance together.
And yet, throughout the show and at the end, they are great and honest friends. Even after slowdancing the night before, sharing this intimate moment, Abigail calls Passepartout her friend and talks about how much this friendship means to her. How she doesn't want to lose him as a friend.
We see all of their relationships with one another change and grow in the course of their 80 days of adventure. There is so much emotion between all of them. There is fear, anger, understanding, confusion, betrayal, trust. But at the end, most importantly, there is friendship.
The bond they have formed has changed all of them. Has brought out the good in all of them. They learned so much from one another, understood each other and understood themselves. And THAT was the core essence of their relationship. The story was never solely about romance.
Abigail (and Passepartout) even openly discuss this when Fogg leaves to meet with Estella. They are disappointed because that is not how their story should go, that is not how it should end.
Abigail tries to make a love story out of it, but she know that this is not that kind of story.
This is not a story of romance, of finding the love of your life, of rekindling with a love long lost.
This IS however a story of love in the sense of friendship, companionship, of finding your passion and your place in life. It's a story of growth and of finding yourself.
At least that's what it is for me.
I was so grateful that they did not actually make Abigail and Passepartout a couple or have Fogg and Estella kiss or anything like it.
The story, the characters, their journey- it was all still just as powerful

9 more testament-related yonkoma coming right up! the previous 8 can be found here
how to read yonkoma + translation notes + etc under the cut ^^
How to Read Yonkoma/4-koma (<- means "4 panels"):
short answer:
long answer: here
-
Translation Notes:
lil hanamaru: was titled Hanamaru-kun in the original text. a hanamaru is a flower drawn on japanese kids' schoolwork when they do a good job, like a gold star. since the comic shows the flower very obviously here, i couldnt lie to you all and title it Lil' Gold Star, and i think we have no other flower-related equivalent to this, so ive decided to use this as an opportunity to teach those who dont know this little japanese culture fact. feel free to google what a hanamaru looks like!
among us: this was titled Infiltration in the original text. because im quirky, i changed it to Among Us. when people complain about translators adding in stuff that didnt exist in the original text, this is exactly what theyre talking about. im so sorry. i have to reference amogus every chance i get (fwiw: i can do this because its just comedy. i wouldnt randomly add funny references during more serious scenes)
how about a bout: original title was something like "You're Fighting!?" but uhhhh. okay, i dont even know why i changed the title of this one 😂 i think at the time i couldnt think of a way to translate the title, so i came up with something punny and related to the subject matter. just now as i reread the original text i understood it, but i like my pun better than the original and dont feel like going back and changing it. do you forgive me? 😿
memory over the material: in the very first panel, testament says in the original text something like "you can't erase me physically or any other way." because this is all comedy, i added a reference most tumblr users should get to add to the mood.
i think thats about it! tldr, i think im funny and sacrificed direct translation for comedic effect when i felt like it. common industry practice, really. i wouldnt be so loose when translating if this wasnt all comedy!
-
i wanted to add that if you want to follow me to see when i next share a translation, you should follow @cicistash instead of this blog. ill put all translations there... and art in the future, but ill tag the art so you can filter it out.
thank you so much for reading my translations! im sorry for the long wait between the first one and this! i hope the next one comes much faster. and sorry if it looks ugly, of course, im new to editing scans and such

Somewhat detailed sypnosis of Fate/school life, the 4-koma spinoff of Fate/stay night following the regular lives of the Homurahara students, specifically the track team trio. A manga that has never been translated into English, and so is largely unknown in the English fandom. This would largely not be a problem, except Fate/strange Fake is set in its continuity, or close enough, which makes its allusions to it and important plot points derived from it incredibly confusing.
Not my work, this sypnosis was exclusively typed up by Comun (@kaibutsushidousha here) on Beast Lair:
Ok, I have time now. Here's what the general deal with HimuTen is. Himuro no Tenchi is a yonkoma manga starring the normal girls of the track trio + Mitsuzuri, and the much less normal Sajou Ayaka from Fate/Prototype. As the "Fate/school life" subtitle implies, it's wholly slice-of-life, featuring its cast involved in everyday situations, the many original games they play, and supernatural shenanigans that they don't realize are supernatural thanks to Rin or Ayaka cleaning things up neatly.
Publication started in 2006 covering a story set 9 months before the Grail War, but then during its 2015-2017 run, it covered the Grail War from the perspective of people who didn't know the Grail War happening, and is currently set after the Grail War.
In terms of timeline, the main point of divergence that defines HimuTen is Kotomine's handling of Tokiomi's property. Like in the Fsn timeline, after the 4th Grail War, Kotomine was in charge of Tokiomi's finances until Rin grew up, but he made categorically stupid decisions on what to sell and what to keep, and his disastrous management was the cause of Rin's current money problems. But in HimuTen's timeline, while the outcome of Kotomine's poor management was still the same, what specifically he chose to sell was different. This results in two major consequences that separate HimuTen from Fate/stay night:
1)A lot of Tokiomi's less practically useful artifacts and Mystic Codes were sold to Makidera's father's antique shop, which often results in Makidera and her friends being involved in strange phenomena that Rin needs to take responsibility for.
2) A plot of land directly above Fuyuki's best leyline was sold to Sajou Hiroki, causing him to move with his two daughters to move to Fuyuki in 1994. By 2003-2004, Manaka already moved away from her father's house, and Hiroki himself never appears because he's always out of Fuyuki either meeting up with his mage buddy from Tokyo or dealing with Manaka situations, but Ayaka is a main character in this story, so that obviously has many ramifications.
Also, Ayaka's and Manaka's characters in HimuTen are pretty different from their Prototype counterparts. Fake Ayaka is about as much of a self-hating introvert with no self-esteem as Proto Ayaka, but she didn't get from the real Ayaka of this timeline.
The younger Manaka still had the same propensity to set the world on fire for her Prince Charming, but direct quote: "Her excessive omnipotence caused [REDACTED] to [REDACTED] because it was [REDACTED], thus [REDACTED] went completely off-rails, resulting in the collapse of her most confident plan. Catastrophic shipwreck. She learned that picture books are pictures books are for a reason. The Prince Charming of her dreams wasn't real. Disheartened, she [REDACTED]. [REDACTED]. She turned harmless."
Meanwhile, since Manaka never found her ideal hot man, this Ayaka has none of her Grail War trauma. Instead, she had the experience of witnessing depression turn her highly competent sister into an unproductive failure of a human being, and built an actual self-esteem from training in Fuyuki's best leyline, so she internalized that she needed to be the responsible sister.
And, relevantly to /strange Fake, Ayaka also left Fuyuki in the July-August 2003 period for a student experience in the Clock Tower. Waver naturally got interested in a new student with the same last name as Manaka, so they met and she was a temporary student in his class, where she also got to realize her Formalcraft talents from Proto and was advised to specialize in plants since she was so opposed to sacrificing animals.
The last major thing to talk about is the Grail War arc, although I think this was already discussed in the thread when FsF being a HimuTen sequel first came up. Due to the premise of the manga, we don't see anything of the Grail War actually happen, but from its consequences to the people around the track trio (Kuzuki's disappearance, Mitsuzuri's assault and hospitalization, Zouken's death, the Ryuudou family needing to move to the Semina Apartments after the collapse of the cavern under their temple, Medusa's post-war presence, Shirou's survival and relationship status with Sakura, etc.), it's completely that HimuTen follows Heaven's Feel Good End except for the minor divergences caused by Ayaka's presence. And those are only two:
1) During the weeks of the Grail War, Ayaka was teaming up with Ciel (yes, Ciel was there, but she isn't a character in HimuTen, she's just an incognito figure you find, exclusively during the Grail War chapters, talking to Ayaka in the background, appearing on the corners of pages, group shots, etc. and what is up with her cameos is only revealed in profiles outside of the story proper) to kept outside scavengers from interfering with the Grail War. Mashin's official statement is that together the thwarted 9 out of 10 invaders, and the 10th one that slipped past them would have consequences later in the United States. (This seriously implies that the Fsn timeline had a bigger number of scavengers profiting from the Grail War, which certainly will come up in some spin-off, probably the El-Melloi series)
2) Shinji lost a bet to Ayaka during that week, so he had to wear a magical wig that copied his hair, but slightly off-center, making people think he was wearing a wig all along. This protected his head from Sakura's attack, so in this timeline, Shinji was only injured rather than killed.
I suppose I could also talk about Tsunokuma since he cameoed here and how the reveal that the real Ayaka is currently studying in Romania is an extension of Manaka's and Celenike's relationship in HimuTen, but I'll stick to the Ayaka parts to keep this post as short as it can be.

Happy to announce that the first draft of LADYBIRD's first episode script was finished yesterday! Which means I'm finally going to start working on the visuals--- we're well on our way to the eventual release~
In the meantime, I'm trying to decide how I'm gonna go through the story beats that aren't covered in the episodes...I've been thinking about doing a series of 4-koma type comics to briefly cover these events.
Despite appearances, it's not going to be a 'RWBY Chibi' analog or anything: there will be jokey moments and serious moments in both the full-fledged episodes and the more summarized stories. I just wanted to try playing with LADYBIRD'S chibi style, to see if I might enjoy using it in comic format...I don't think that I will, but it was a good try. ^^;
I also wanted to introduce the secret 6th member of the Ladybird main cast: Baby, the team car! ^^ Along with Nell, it will be joining the group in the first episode, and it'll be a big help to the girls on their globe-trotting adventure.
...Despite the weird way I'm talking, Baby isn't sentient or anything; it's just a car. ^^; It's just that I love when a story stars a special vehicle that's important to the main characters, so despite how bad I am at drawing cars, I'm going to make the effort for Baby~.

I started thinking about the Japan gang gathering at Madoka's place to play video games and that led to smash bros headcanons about who they main, how good they are, and what franchises they're familiar with. Based on brawl because this show aired in the Wii era.
Gingka: Mario. Bad tier. Very little gaming experience. There probably isn't a game store in Koma Village. Does not know who the fuck most of these characters are.
Kyoya: Fox. Mid tier. He's not into most of Nintendo's stuff because he thinks it's juvenile. He likes Star Fox though and he's not beating the furry allegations about it.
Madoka: Samus. Champion of the group. Hardcore gamer. Will give herself handicap settings. More or less familiar with the whole roster.
Kenta: Ness. mid tier. Really likes Mother and Pokemon and has dabbled in some other games.
Benkei: Kirby. Good tier. He kept it secret during the face hunter days, but he actually really likes these silly kid games, especially Mario and Kirby.
Hikaru: Sheik. Starts off mid but gets really into fighting games while she's not blading. Eventually she becomes a decent rival to Madoka and they'll meet for one on one matches. Doesn't know most of the characters, including Shiek, but thought she looked cool.
Tsubasa: Link. Bad tier. They like strategy and puzzle solving but aren't used to the chaotic energy of this kind of game. Plays Zelda and Fire Emblem.
Yu: Jigglypuff. Good tier. Has raw talent but lacks the dedication to advance to Madoka's level. Huge Pokemon fan and likes several other franchises too.
Ryo: spontaneously joins a match one time. Meta knight. Bad tier and doesn't know anyone for the same reasons as Gingka. He just chose Meta because he's got a cool mask.
