My Love, Take Care of Yourself (Pillby) - Puppy
Summary: Kerri gets sick, and Willow tries the best she can to make her feel better.
A/N: Willow uses she/they pronouns. Kornbread is also known as Demoria in this fic.
Title comes from "Take Care of Yourself" by Maisie Peters.
--
“Whoever said ‘a hoe never gets cold’ is a fucking liar.” Kerri complains as she plugs her phone into the charger only for her to immediately flop back onto the bed, nearly bumping into the headboard. “You’re on speakerphone, by the way, Korn…”
“What can I say? You did it to yourself.” Her friend on the other line scold. When she first heard her friend was sick, Demoria channeled the old Southern ladies from church growing up and simply sighed. “Oh bless your heart.” For as long as she knew her, Kerri was known to never dress properly for weather, so was bound to happen eventually.
“Demoria Jeté! Are you expecting me to turn down the thot shit? Telling me to not make out with guys at the club?”
 “Well…considering you’re seeing someone, yeah, but – ”
“I don’t mind!” Willow interrupts the conversation from the other side of the door, “Just let me know and get tested regularly.”
Kerri, having heard every other word, responds with a tired groan.
“And tell Kornbread I said hi!”
“Hi, Willow.” As soon as the other girl was out of earshot, Demoria sighs again from the other side of the phone and continues her chastising. “At least wear a jacket next time.”
“Well, what was I supposed to wear out to the club?” She turns away from the phone, feeling another sneeze coming on. “A full parka-ACHOO!”
“Bless you. There are people at the DOOR who’d take your jacket. And it’d be like a reveal or something.”
“I come bearing gifts.” Willow interrupts once again, opening the door with their elbow since both of their hands were occupied.
“And I guess that’s my cue to hang up. Take care, Ker.” And with that she hangs up, just in time for Kerri to lay back down and feel the overwhelming cold symptoms flare up again.
The pink-haired girl sets a tray table with a bowl of soup and some of that Italian bread they recently got at the store. “I was also gonna make a grilled cheese, but there weren’t any Singles in the fridge.”
“Maybe if you didn't eat all of them in the dead of night, there’d be enough for a sandwich.” Kerri teases, her Texan drawl slightly coming out.
“It’s good either way. You’re not the kind of person who’d wanna eat straight plastic.”
 “You eat straight up plastic?”
“Duh,” Willow jokes, although they sound as serious as ever. “What else do you think Kraft Singles are made of? No wonder they melt so easily.”
 “You’re shittin’ me.”
“No, I’m not.” They definitely are. “And that’s why they smell so bad when they’re burnt to a crisp!”
So that’s what that was in the kitchen… Kerri ponders as she weakly bit into a toasted piece of ciabatta. Willow scooches to the edge of the bed like a dog and sits across from their partner. It’s easier on her hands to do it from there, plus all of the stretching she has to do to get to Kerri makes for a good workout.
“I kid, I kid. They’re no plastic,” They admit as if they just told a huge secret. “But did you know that if you put a piece of cheese on a plate in the microwave, you can make a good snack out of it.”
“It gets all crispy, like a cracker! You just peel it off, and –”
“How are you even alive?” An ironic question from the girl who felt like she was dying.
Willow takes a spoonful and puts it in Kerri's mouth. Her hands move back to the base of the warm bowl, a little something to keep them from cramping up on her. “I ask myself that every day I wake up. Probably spite.”
“Have you been… takin’ care of yourself?” Kerri tilts her head as she watches Willow get off the bed. She’s still in her pajamas – a band t-shirt and the bottom half of a pair of her sweatpants– and her hair is still tangled in an eternal bedhead.
She stops in her tracks, almost heading back to the kitchen to get some vitamins and make more toast. “That sounds like a loaded question. Pretty sure this violates HIPPA.”
“I’ll call Mori again,” Kerri grumbles, “and I’ll get an answer out of her. No doubt.”
“No, I’ll call her when I get around to it.”
“When was the last time you had a full meal? Those cheese…” A sneeze interrupts briefly, “cracker… abominations don’t count!”
Willow pretends to think about it for a second, shrugging their shoulders. “You can’t judge me. Why are you worrying about me when you can’t get out of bed?”
“A few days? I hope it’s less than a week.” She just ignores Willow’s pleas as she menacingly sips a spoonful of soup.
“Maybe you're right. I could probably eat, like, a salad or something once in a while. I can make some spaghetti once you get some strength back,” She phrases it like a question and forgets to mention anything about possibly burning down the kitchen.
“Now that I think about it, I do feel disgusting.” But when don’t you? Those little intrusive thoughts peek into Willow’s brain, but now isn’t the time for that.  “Get some more rest, maybe while I shower?”
“Yeah, I guess I’ll do that.” Kerri moves the tray to the bedside table, not wanting to get soup or any more crumbs. “Love you, baby angel.”
They whip their head back into the doorway and look at her quizzically. “Wait… what was that last bit?”
“I said I love you, silly.”
“Uh… love you too!” Willow blushes and runs to the bathroom. She needs to process all of that before getting on with the rest of her day. Their girlfriend could only smile and dip another piece of bread into the soup. There’s something about the simplicity of the meal that makes it even more meaningful.
Sooner than later, her phone rings again, so she tosses to the other side of the bed to furiously pick it up.
“Hey, just checkin’ in and see how y’all were doin’. Has every–”
“I finally said it,” confesses Kerri as she unplugs the phone flops back onto the pillows propping her up. “Mori.”
 “It’s about damn time.”
Kerri laughs as she snuggles behind the comforter. “Yeah, I guess.” She talks to Kornbread for a little while longer before she starts to nod off.
Willow arrives to find her girlfriend drooling on the pillow and her phone still on a call. “Hi, again.
 “She’s asleep, isn’t she?”
They nod, even though her friend can’t see her from the other side. “Yeah… I’ll remind her to call you back. If neither of us wake up by tomorrow, you can have Squid.”
Demoria can only shake her head. “I’ll call y’all tomorrow. Sound good?”
“Night night.” Willow hangs up and snuggles next to Kerri, weaseling their way around the sheets. If she gets sick in the process of this, they don't care.
Being snuggled next to someone you love is a hell of a way to go.

Angeria Talks SpongeBob And Superpowers + "A Pair Of Balls" Recap (Issue #3)
The RuPaul's Drag Race Official Newsletter
In this week’s newsletter, we juggle “A Pair Of Balls,” dole out superlatives for the week’s best looks, and share an exclusive interview with Angeria Paris VanMicheals. Don’t forget to subscribe so you can stay tuned for all of the latest Drag Race updates!
After the twin premieres, Drag Race drops “A Pair Of Balls,” an episode front-loaded with twists that resets the board game for the season and gets the ball rolling on one fierce competition. In case you’re still reeling from a week that starts with 12 queens, jumps to 14, then ends with 13, my name’s Cameron Scheetz and I’m here to walk you through it all, leaving no [Sharon] stone left unturned…
Tumblr media
Before last week’s queens even had a chance to de-drag, Alicia Keys once again appeared from behind the mirror (can this keep happening throughout the season?) to point them in the direction of the rest of their season 14 sisters. It’s a gag to see who recognized who: Jasmine’s a Kerri stan, Jorgeous eyes pageant royalty Alyssa, and Angeria spots Mary J. Blige! But no one could get too cozy with the new status quo, because Ru revealed that—surprise—Orion Story and Diabettica Daya Betty are back in the competition, baby! While not everyone was happy (June calls “bullsh*t”), the two returning queens seemed re-energized and ready to make the most of their second chance.
Speaking of second chances, Ru finally unveiled the season’s big, candy-coated twist: Chocolate bars for each of the girls! More than just a powerful source of antioxidants, these bars represent a lifeline in the competition because one of them has a Golden Ticket, which would save a queen from elimination. If the loser of any given week’s Lip Sync For Your Life unwraps a gold bar, “she’ll be safe to slay another day.” Best start praying to those Drag Gods, ladies!
In this week’s Mini Challenge, queens were tasked with eating bugs off the floor, and Daya Betty snatched the win by scarfing down one thicc dragonfly, nabbing a $1,000 prize courtesy of Kornbread “The Snack” Jeté. Joking, joking—there was no Mini this week, and no Ru Walk Throughs either, allowing plenty of time for this cast’s chemistry to shine as they designed their final ball looks (more on that in a minute). As evidenced by the aforementioned bug snacking, the mood in the Werk Room was downright giddy, providing some hilarious moments like Kornbread showing off the power of her left nipple’s hetero-detection technology, and Kerri and Angeria going full “Who’s On First?” routine with their “sharing stones/Sharon Stone” back-and-forth.
Tumblr media
The episode’s centerpiece, of course, was the massive, two-in-one ball, divvying the queens into different themes based on their premieres. The Week 1 girls were assigned to the Hide & Chic Ball, consisting of Zebra Print Resort, Leopard Evening Gown Down, and Wedding Gown Eleganza. Week 2 was tasked with bringing it to the Red White & Blue Ball, delivering Red Hot Resort, Evening Gown Down: All In White, and, again, Wedding Gown Eleganza. In both cases, they’d need to bring their final bridal-wear looks to life on the spot, using the eclectic materials provided in the Werk Room.
Ball Superlatives
With 42 runway presentations in total, we just don’t have the ink to write them all up, so instead we’ll dole out superlatives for the most notable looks of the night…
Best Use Of Materials:
Willow Pill was a worthy winner this week, thanks in large part to her jaw-dropping, self-made Wedding Gown Eleganza, which Michelle Visage called a “showstopper” and Ru hailed as “absolutely stunning.” But major credit is also due to the way Willow brought a fresh perspective to each category. Animal print is loud, and she managed to tame those wild styles, taking a more colorful, Fruit Stripe Gum approach to the zebra look, and going for a black-on-black leopard gown the just oozed glamour. Brava, Willow!
Tumblr media
Best Mug:
I think I gasped every time I caught a glimpse of Angeria’s face. Yes, she served in all three categories—her elevated looks earning high placement in the challenge—but damn that girl can paint! Top honors go to her Red Hot Resort look, where her flawless makeup perfectly complimented that throwback babydoll dress.
Best Reference:
For me, the gag of the night was when Alyssa Hunter said her black-and-white-striped jockey look was a nod to the movie Racing Stripes. I’m sorry—noted Hayden Panettiere vehicle Racing Stripes? The story of an abandoned circus zebra (voiced by Frankie Muniz) who believes he’s a racehorse?? I don’t think anyone’s mentioned that family film since it came out in 2005, so I’m shocked to hear it name-checked on Drag Race. Bless you, Alyssa, for executing high-level drag with such unexpected inspirations.
Tumblr media
Best Unintentional(?) Reference:
In the Leopard Evening Gown Down category, Bosco delivered a chic femme fatale look in “formal culottes.” Paired with her sexy strut on the runway, the whole thing was giving Halle Berry circa the live-action The Flintstones movie. Intentional or not, it’s a killer look that would do Ms. Berry proud. (Fun fact: Halle’ character’s name in The Flintstones? Sharon Stone!)
Best Rebound:
In her premiere, Daya Betty was knocked for not showing enough of herself in the CNTs performance and was sent packing, but she bounced back wonderfully here with three idiosyncratic looks that nevertheless felt cohesive. It was a great showcase for her animated aesthetic (to borrow a descriptor Kerri would later use in Untucked) and an exciting promise for things to come.
Best Runway Performance:
This one’s got to be a tie between Jorgeous and Kornbread, whose runway walks told very different—but equally compelling—stories. Jorgeous seemed to glide down the stage, boosting her highly polished looks with an infectious confidence, while Kornbread offered up three distinctive characters, once again employing expert eye (and tongue!) choreography to win the judges over.
Best Concept:
The ball is always time for the cast’s seamstresses to shine, and Jasmine’s craftsmanship was really on display with her Wedding Gown Eleganza. I love the way she took inspiration from the shimmering star piece on her shoulder and built a gown around it, paneling the different fabrics for a look the screams Americana kitsch without going the expected route.
Tumblr media
———————————————————————————————————————
This week’s Judge’s Panel—Michelle, Carson Kressley, an over-caffeinated Ru, and Bling Empire’s lovely Chirstine Chiu—whittled the queens down to the Bottom Two, June Jambalaya and Maddy Morphosis, and the pair were tasked with lip syncing to Kylie Minogue’s ebullient Disco cut “I Love It” (more Kylie songs on Drag Race, please!) While June really left it all on the dancefloor, Ru ultimately opted to give Maddy the win for taking a more straightforward approach to the number. Without a golden candy bar to save the day, June sashayed away, leaving the girls with the reminder:
“There’s always room for two things: That’s Alizé and Jambalaya.”
Tumblr media
Burning Questions
The Golden Ticket
So the introduction of the candy bars doesn’t necessarily change the rules of the game, but it is a fascinating wrinkle in what’s to come. The golden bar could appear at any point, or—if, say, it’s in the hands of queen who never has to lip sync and makes it to the finale—we might not see it at all! Perhaps that’s what’s most intriguing about it: It’s truly random, a proper “x factor” for this season of Drag Race. For these queens, the candy will largely stay out of sight, out of mind until the moment when it matters most. So, who has the lucky chocolate? Will it even turn up? If it does spare someone from having to sashay away, will they make the most of their second shot at the crown? That’s for the Drag Gods to know and us to find out!
Camgeria
Lady Camden + Angeria Paris VanMicheals = Camgeria; do you ‘ship it? Their flirty, accent-heavy repartee carried over from the premiere and was another Werk Room highlight this week. For a second, it seemed like Angie had had it with Lady Camden’s giggle fits, but it was all a playful front, as she revealed in a confessional that she’s quite fond of her sister from across the pond. “I could definitely see me and her hanging out after this”—these two! Whether it’s friendship brewing here, or something more, it has us swooning.
Next Week: I’m Acting!
Who’s got the chops to excel in the season’s first acting challenge? Drag Race gets meta when the queens are asked to create “tension-grabbing super teases,” a.k.a. the dramatic “Coming Up” moments the make those commercial breaks seem extra long. We’ve watched this cast serve fashion and their talent of choice, so it’ll be interesting to see which queens are giving thespian. Plus: J.Lo teleconferences into the Werk Room, the darling Loni Love makes a welcome return to the judge’s panel, and—according to Bosco—someone’s got “a lot of emotions for safe.”
The Other Half Of The Story
You know the drill: If you’re not watching, Untucked, well, you’re missing out, babe! Let’s shout out a few of the most notable moments form this week’s episode.
With a full cast, this is our first Untucked to give us a glimpse of the “safe” queens commiserating while the highest and lowest scorers remain on stage for critiques. Fair to say, not everyone was happy to be there, with Jasmine, Alyssa, and DeJa all expressing disappointment as they headed backstage. Tensions were high!
Daya, on the other hand, had already survived an elimination, so she’s got a different perspective. In the “privacy” of her confessional interview, she claimed the girls were being a bit ridiculous. In the room, however, she put more of a positive spin on it and tried to remind them how lucky they are to be safe, to live to drag another day.
Tumblr media
DeJa’s remark about Jasmine and Alyssa being very “boom” registered as a read to the latter queen, which turned the discussion to pageantry and stereotypes about “pageant girls.” Judging by her reaction, I sense that Alyssa’s run into this critique a few times in her career, and she’s determined to not be boxed in by other people’s assumptions.
Jasmine just might follow in fellow NYC sister Kandy Muse’s footsteps and earn that producer credit! To me, she came off as justifiably curious and enthusiastic in Untucked, but it appeared to needle at some of the others, like when Daya cracked a joke about her non-stop talking, or when Kornbread called her out for “writing the whole script.” Jasmine “The Producer/Writer/Director” Kennedie—a true multi-hyphenate!
June saw the writing on the wall, referencing “Groundhog’s Day” when she realized she’d likely be lip syncing again. It was heartbreaking to see such a passionate queen so defeated, but her sisters like Lady Camden and Willow were there to lift her up. In the end, June knows “the Jambalaya’s still cooking,” and she leaves the competition with a chosen drag family of her own and the adoration of new fans across the world. We love you, June!
The Serve-ey: Angeria Paris VanMicheals
Tumblr media
Each week, we’ll get to learn more about one of the queens of season 14 when they take our brief questionnaire, a.k.a. The Serve-ey. They’ll all get the same six questions, and then we’ll throw in one final “wildcard” question just for fun. This week: An interview with the glamorous “Southern Belle Of ATL” Angeria Paris VanMicheals? CHECK!
1. In keeping with the season promo’s board game theme: What was your favorite game growing up and why?
So, I think my favorite game growing up was the board game Sorry. No, no—I’m sorry, I have two! It was Sorry and The Game Of Life. So, if I had to pick one, it would be The Game Of Life because I had it on the computer and I also had the board game. I loved it, I loved playing it, and I used to play it with my cousins and my friends all the time.
I always loved the role-playing element of The Game Of Life—
Yeah, I think that’s what I enjoyed the most about it! Like, you know, when you’re young, you think of what you’re going to be when you grow up and stuff. So, the fact that you could, like, get married and have a career and all this stuff—I thought that was so cute. That’s definitely the part that I got into the most.
2. How would you say the city you’re from helped define your drag?
Most of my drag has been in Atlanta—I’ve been in Atlanta for the past eight years, and I was doing drag one year prior [to moving there.] Growing up as a drag queen in Atlanta, you are taught to be really groomed and polished. The veteran—as I call them—queens are very serious about you being polished before you hit the stage. So they’re like, “You got to have nails on, you can’t have holes and runs in your pantyhose,” and stuff like that. Everything has to be perfect, not a strand of your hair out of place. Your lace can’t be showing or nothing. It’s very that.
So I’ll say that growing up as a drag queen in Atlanta has taught me so much—my polish is all owed to them, those drag queens that I came up under. And my drag mom, Envy Van Micheals, always taught me to be very, very polished at all times, you never know who’s watching. It doesn’t matter if it’s four people in the audience or 400, you’ve just always got to be on point.
With such a high level of polish, were you nervous at all about starting out in the Atlanta scene?
I was, but I will say, I think a lot of what took the edge off was that it was so fun. Like, I found drag because I have friends who did it and it looked so fun! One friend put me in drag for the first time, so I literally just took it and ran with it, I started doing shows. And I promise you, my first three years in drag was just pure fun. It started getting a little serious after that because I started doing pageants and spending money and stuff, but it was so fun and that always took the edge off. I was never really thinking about the seriousness of it—I was just having fun, I was going out even if I looked foolish, even if my makeup wasn’t the prettiest at the time, I felt pretty.
And I never saw myself, like, doing drag full time. Because I I actually used to be afraid that, if I made drag too much of a career, it would take the fun out of it for me, and I never wanted it to be that. I kept calling it a hobby for years because I just wanted it to stay fun. But then Drag Race happened, so it’s like, “Yeah, okay, on second thought, I don’t want to go back to a nine-to-five.” [Laughs.] So, yeah, we’re doing drag!
3. With this season’s candy bar twist, I’m curious: If you were a piece of candy, what kind would you be?
If I were any candy, I think I’d be a SweeTart—and I love SweeTarts. I think I would be that because I feel like I’m very sweet, my drag is very appealing to the eye, but I can read a bitch. And I feel like, you know, most people don’t see that coming! But I have that in me, I can be a little shady here and there. Sure I’ve got that sweet outer exterior, but I can be a little tart sometimes when I need to be, when it calls for it. Everyone who knows me knows I’m a sweetheart, but, in the fashion of being a drag queen, if I need to get shady, I can be. [Laughs.]
4. What can you tell us about your “confessional” interview look? How did you decide what to wear? What do you think it says about your style out of drag?
That is such a fun question for you to ask. My confessional look—I came with one thing, one shirt and a hat, and then it was like, “Oh, the hat’s too big and the shirt’s too busy!” So then I had a backup option and it turned out what I thought was going to be my confessional look was not, and my Plan B ended up being my confessional look. Which is still fine because I still brought it, you know? I’m in a buttoned-up [shirt,] open just slightly, with my backwards hat. So that is me outside of drag, like, I’m very comfortable. I’ve never been so bent on fashion as a boy. I do know how to clean up very well, but I like to be very comfortable. And these are long days, so I just wanted it to be very comfortable, but I still want to look cute.
And then I didn’t know if I was going to be getting a haircut, so I was like, “Girl, I’m going to put on a hat!” [Laughs.] I am a hat person because I do get haircuts on the regular, but, of course, my hair grows fast. So after the first three days, I’m like hats for two weeks until I get another haircut.
And what I like about the shirt is that it’s got some color, it’s a little floral—it still feels very Angeria.
Yeah, that’s what I love about it most, and I said that when I picked it out. And then I was like, “Oh my god”—because the shirt is actually from H&M—“Oh my god, RuPaul is going to hate me!” [Laughs.] But the shirt is actually from H&M and, when I saw it, I noticed the flowers, a floral print, and I was like, “Oh, I feel real cute and country!” It really is on brand.
5. What’s a fun fact you can share about one of your season 14 sisters that might surprise the fans?
See, I have to think about this one a little bit harder. Okay, a fun fact is that Kerri—who is literally one of my best friends in the whole competition—although she is very prim and very proper, Keri is also the very country and Southern in her own way. She is! And, you know, I think me and Kornbread really were able to bring that out of her. Since she’s been in LA, she is, like I said, very proper, which I love! But I was so glad that she was able to, like, let her hair down for me and be that country bitch with me as well. So, just so everybody else knows, Kerri Colby is a country bumpkin too!
I feel like I have this superpower that allows me to see the country in other people. Like, I know someone, when I see them, will remind me of the people I grew up with. So I knew instantly Kornbread was going to be that. But Kerri took a minute for me to crack—it took a minute for me to break through that wall. But I did it! And I was like, “Oh yes god, you’re going to be a good Judy of mine! Because I see it. I know you know you’re country.”
6. Here’s a chance to shout out another drag performer, designer, hair & makeup artist, etc… who really helped inspire you or prepare you for your journey on Drag Race.
I just want to shout out my best friend and my designer—his name is Anthony Weaver, but he goes by Uneek, and his brand is Uneek Kreations. He literally is—I mean, I wouldn’t have been able to prepare for Drag Race without him. We went to his house and got everything together. He helped me so much, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it like without him.
And then the second person is Ocean Kelly, who co-wrote and produced my song, “Call Me Angie.” I went over to his house and we knocked it out in two hours—two hours!—and it won the challenge. So I’m so thankful to Ocean Kelly because we’ve been friends for about the past seven years. And, as soon as I knew I had to do a talent show, I was like, “Hey, I need you,” and he was there.
That song is amazing. Who came up with the idea for “check!”?
Actually! I can credit him—he came up with the idea for the “checks,” and I just filled in the words. He was like, “So I’m thinking something—check—da-da-da-da-da—check!” I’m like, “Okay, so how about: Fierce, polish, ass, titties.” I’m throwing out everything that I think is me, and he’s like, “Check, check, check!” I knew it was going to be sickening.
And Drag Race fans should know the name Ocean Kelly, because Ocean was on LaLa Ri’s track too!
He was, he was! He did LaLa’s track, and he also was featured on it.
7. Wildcard: In a recent Drag Race social video, you said the show you’re currently bingeing is SpongeBob Squarepants—what do you love about the show?
Listen, I love SpongeBob. I love SpongeBob SquarePants. Would you believe me if I told you that, in my hotel room during Drag Race, I was watching SpongeBob most of the time? Because we had a bunch of channels, and I’m a cartoon person and I’ve been watching SpongeBob since I was little. So I watched SpongeBob almost every day, and Nickelodeon shows that over and over again, so I would turn it on, and no matter what I was doing—whether I was practicing a lip sync or anything—SpongeBob was playing on the TV. So I am such a SpongeBob fan, I’m watching it all the time.
And it won’t die! Literally, I’m like, “Damn, how old am I going to be to when they stop making SpongeBob episodes?
And is SpongeBob your favorite character, or is there another you’re most fond of?
No, my favorite character will always be SpongeBob, he’s the O.G. I feel like everybody has that one cartoon that they grew up on, and they had all of the stuffed animals and stuff like that. For me, I had so many SpongeBob things, I had SpongeBob stickers and stuffed toys and a little pineapple toy. Even in my adulthood, bitch, I still watch SpongeBob, yes I do. You’re never too old for SpongeBob because he ain’t never going to be too old for us!

Hello,  here is another small illustration of queen Kornbread ! I I loved her so much during her time on the show, and honestly I’m still not over what happened ?? I was inspired by the wig she was wearing for her promo look, who remined me of asian dragons, who sometime hold golden orbs in their claws ! Anyway, enjoy this really amazing queen, I cannot wait to see her on s15 !! ❤️
