Young Shanks sees Oden and Toki together and thinks "wow, I want that with Buggy" so he keeps an eye on everything they do together, both out of envy and to learn how to make his best friend fall for him. They're his role model when it comes to romance. They just look so happy and in love and constantly supporting each other it makes Shanks crave that type of intimacy. When Toki gets sick, Shanks understands why she tells Oden to go on their journey without her (it's his dream, not hers, anyway). He does. But there's just something inside of him that can't accept Oden's decision. He should stay! No matter what she tells him! She's the love of his life, isn't she? Even if it's his dream, the last island will forever be there, and Toki perhaps won't if she gets really sick.

Then, when Buggy gets sick, he doesn't doubt it. Not even for a second. Not even when Buggy is begging to go to the last island. Not even when Roger asks him if he's sure about his decision. He stays right where he belongs: Next to Buggy.

Shanks takes care of him and he's glad he's doing it, but he keeps thinking about Oden. Oden didn't stay with Toki because he was sure she'd be there once he came back from their journey. Love assured. Somehow also trusting that she'd be fine without him. Shanks wonders if the reason why he's staying with Buggy isn't really just to take care of him or to follow their shared dream together someday. Perhaps Shanks just stays because he fears he won't have any love to return to once he's back.

The thought of losing something he has never had in the first place (Buggy's love) is more frightening than never being able to fulfill his dream.

Shanks, trying to comfort a fussy Hiyori: "What's the problem? Are you hungry? It is Nap-time? Does Toki need to give you a diaper change?" Buggy, nodding: "Is it obsessive thoughts of random things & places to do arson? Yeah, I've been there." Shanks, nods alongside Buggy: "He has." ... Toki, turns to Roger, Rayleigh, and Gaban: "What the fuck did you teach these kids?!?"

Modern AU in which child Yamato gets to befriend little Momo and Hiyori (they are, in fact, around the same age) and absolutely falls in love with the Kozuki family because their dad's so cool and has so many crazy stories about his crazy exploits with Whitebeard and Roger, and they're all so nice to him and having playdates at their place is the only respite he gets from his own shitty father. They all get to reconnect years later after Kaido isolates him from them, and Uncle Oden gives his children's little friend a bear hug and welcomes him with open arms

If I had to pick a dead character in One Piece to come back to life... I choose Roger, Ace, Whitebeard, Rosinante, Fisher Tiger, Tom, Hiriluk, Toki, Nico Olivia, Otohime, Russian, Scarlett, and Sora. Assuming there are too many for Tiger, Whitebeard, and Roger to carry, Bell-mere and Rouge can handle the rest.

Extremely half baked idea I just had in the shower: Buggy basically being an adopted Kozuki

I’ve always imagine Rayleigh and Roger as being closer to Shanks (not out of malice towards Buggy, they just share similar interests), so imagine Toki & Oden being close with Buggy.

Oden teaches him Wano’s folklore and helps him improve his reading and writing skills, Toki always keeps an eye out for her fellow devil fruit user incase he get thrown over board (she also braids his hair and told him a boatload of secrets from the Void Period, he’s never shared one, not even to Shanks) AND Hiyori and Momo adore him, always hanging off him for another tale of adventure

(If this is tf buggy than the ladies bath for the rogers pirates is most likely just Toki, buggy and the kids)

And when Toki returns to the timeline, she sends a letter to Karai Bara island addressed to one Kozuki Buggy

I've talked about this before and I will never get tired of saying that Toki and Oden adopting Buggy is one of my favorite HCs? AUs? Ever. It just makes sense to me, tbh. And it would be so funny if he just kept it to himself and nobody fucking knew.

Because you'd expect him to go flashily through life and brag about his name and ??? Not really. He just- He just lives knowing he's a Kozuki and that's enough for him. It's something too personal to be shared so freely and the only one who knows is Shanks and probably Cross Guild after telling them one day.

Imagine Buggy saying he needs to go to Wano asap and Mihawk and Crocodile not understanding anything but, like, well, okay, they will go there with the clown if he so desperately needs to go. And just- Imagine their faces seeing Momo and Hiyori going "BROTHER!!!!!!!!" when they see him. They certainly were not expecting that.

Buggy speaking Toki's Language

So, Toki wakes up to Buggy playing with Hiyori, beside the bed where Toki was sleeping. Toki says 'Good Morning', and Buggy turns around and speaks in Toki's language fluently. Saying 'Oh, it's not morning anymore. Though it has been a good day. Anyway did you sleep well, Toki?' This shocks Toki, that Buggy was understanding and learning the words she had said in her language. This makes Toki hug him and cry because it's been a long time since she heard someone speak that fluently in her language.
