#OTD 5/20/1972 President Nixon and First Lady Pat Nixon waved from the passenger door of Air Force One prior to their departure from Andrews Air Force Base for Salzburg, Austria, the first stop on their trip to the Soviet Union. President and Mrs. Nixon were guests of honor during an arrival ceremony hosted by the Austrian government officials including Chancellor Bruno Kreisky.
