finally got around to watching the percy jackson musical a few days ago because my boyfriend’s little sister played annabeth (she was AMAZING btw) and it made me realize something:
during annabeth’s solo (“my grand plan”), she sings that her grand plan is to be remembered. that it’s literally all she wants, especially since athena seems so determined to forget she even exists (eg. zero contact ever since she made it to camp, literally giving her a hat of INVISIBILITY, etc.).
but now remind me again of the ONE thing percy is certain of when he gets his mind wiped in SON?
I actually love this musical so much. Like i dont know how to explain why i love it, but the fact that they managed to make it so fun to listen to while getting me emotionally attached to the musical versions of the characters is just so beautiful. Plus George Salazar is literally one of the best singers ever, and 'My Grand Plan' truly means so much to me.
something that the pjo movies did wrong that the pjo musical did right was show just how close the main trio are. the pjo movies felt like they weren't even friendly but the musical? nah these guys are forever besties i love it
My friend was helping me work on theatre songs, and I'm an alto, but sometimes I can be a mezzo-soprano. Anyway, she was helping me with "My Grand Plan" from The Lightning Thief musical, and her advice was to basically shout the lyrics. I have never hit a note better. It was magical.
The lightening thief musical actually makes me insane like it’s soooo good like the prologue/the day I got expelled having all the demigods be like you never listen to me now you’re gonna listen bc it’s time you herd our side of the story and then have Percy coming in going look I didn’t wanna be a half blood and then later singing no one listens to me while the chorus is just about him getting expelled and like Percy really does make everyone listen and he stands up for everyone and he tells their story and then it also parallels annabeth being like someone will notice me and there are just so many parallels and it is also so well said and well done and I love it so much
Underrated acting moment for me is in tlt musical when Percy asks Annabeth who her dad is and you can physically hear her walls coming up. Round of applause to Kristin Stokes for expressing Annabeths tense relationship with her dad without actually saying it.
