this series is so so so sweet. im an absolute sucker for enemies to lovers, but this just takes the cake. jake sersin may be a d*ck but he has good intentions so i can't help but love him.

another amazing series. i really love a good longtime friends to lovers. also the a little matchmaking on bradley’s end never hurts.

again, enemies to lovers. this one is definitely a bit more tragic but nonetheless an amazing series that has you on the edge of your seat until the end.

Flyboy, Jake Seresin, @kryptonitejelly This is the first Jake fic I read and loved. While everything in this universe is fantastic, A Drunken Confession is what my brain immediately goes to when I think of Flyboy.

Full of Surprises, Robert Floyd, @withahappyrefrain This is my gateway fic to the Bob Fucks agenda. And when I saw Abby wrote a follow-up. I damn near died.

The 1%, Bradley Bradshaw, @notroosterbradshaw I know I'm not the only that loves this fic, because it appears on my dash quite frequently. And every time, I re-read and reblog it!

The Boyfriend Experience, Bradley Bradshaw, @notroosterbradshaw Appears less on my dash, but a classic Bradley fic, nonetheless. I recently re-read it and fell in love all over again. Cass is the absolute king of the slow burn. Definitely read everything in this universe!

The Craftsman, Bradley Bradshaw, @roosterforme I'll read about Roo and Baby Girl as long as Em keeps writing about them. Once in a while I like to re-read my favorite moments, and this is one of them! I remember screeching to Em about how much I would love a house hunting fic—she delivered! 🦄

Bonus: The Grey Sweatpants, Bradley Bradshaw I requested this for Roo and BG, and I'm obsessed with it. Em did the concept such justice, and it's so Roo and BG! I hope you enjoy as much I do!

The Only Thing, Jake Seresin, @justfandomwritings This fic is amazing. It's a Jake fic written in Bradley's point-of-view. Sounds weird, but it works so, so well.

Trouble In Paradise, Bradley Bradshaw, @sunlightmurdock The Toxic King 👑 forever my king (don't at me). As is TiP Jake (still one of my favorite Jakes). And this fic is forever in my heart since it's the first one I read in the fandom—what a welcome! I stan the ending, btw. 💛

Until I Found You, Bradley Bradshaw, @cherrycola27 The cutest of meet cutes. Nik is also the king of pilot!reader fics—this is no exception. Read it. Love it. Reblog it.

3 Ships: I literally have an entire armada of ships so it's basically impossible to pick just three. So here are the ones that I've been rereading my favorite fics for lately and that would be Ginny Baker/Mike Lawson (from Pitch AND YES I AM NOW AND FOREVER STILL SALTY ABOUT IT GETTING CANCELED), Darcy Lewis/Bucky Barnes, and Darcy Lewis/Steve Rodgers (look, Darcy is the MCU fandom bicycle, okay? I ship her with just about everyone in the MCU). (I figured it was kind of a given at this point that y'all already know about my brainrot that is my absolute love for Annie's OC, Ronnie Bradshaw & Jake Seresin in all of Annie's fantastic Top Gun: Maverick AUs, so that's why I didn't put them in that list. 😆)

1st Ever Ship: My first ever ship, before I even knew what shipping was, would have to be Laura Ingalls & Almanzo Wilder. I can't tell you how many times pre-teen & early teen me read These Happy Golden Years and wished for an Almanzo of my own. And my crush on Almanzo only grew as I read The First Four Years and later the Rose Wilder series of books about her & her parents (Laura & Almanzo) lives on their Rocky Ridge farm. My first ship once I knew what shipping was, would probably be Ron/Hermonie. I remember wanting Ron & Hermonie to get together in the books pretty quickly, but it really wasn't until HBP that I entertained the thought of Harry/Ginny (I remember being actually pretty bummed for Harry when Cho turned him down for the Yule Ball in GoF).

Last Song: Faeries by Mannheim Steamroller

Last Movie: New In Town - it's one of those movies that I will watch anytime. I can quote along with it and no matter how many times I've seen it, it never fails to make me laugh.

Currently Reading: I'm technically currently listening to the audiobook for The Women With Silver Wings: The Inspiring True Story of the Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II by Katherin Sharp Landdeck. But it's probably been at least a month if not longer since I've listened to a chapter. I blame the copious amounts of fanfiction that I've been consuming lately. 😆 If we're talking fanfiction, I just started rereading Flyboy by @kryptonitejelly and rereading Sugar and Spice by @wombtotombx , along with my annual reread of @themonkeycabal 's Run Verse.

Currently Watching: The newest season of The Crown. I'm only a few episodes in right now.

Currently Consuming: Water and gum.

Currently Craving: Food? Pizza. Sad honesty? A bone crushing hug. I've realized this year that I am extremely touched starved. It took me a few years to realize this because four years ago I was working at a child care center with infants and toddlers, so I got all of the hugs and cuddles I needed all day long from my babies & kiddos at work. But the rest of my family isn't as touchy-feely as I am so I'm always the one that has to initiate any hugs or getting my younger siblings to cuddle with me on the couch while we watch tv or movies. I have become more vocal this year with my family about needing & wanting hugs, but I'm still that one that has to initiate them and they're never as long or as crushing as I want them to be.

Flyboy, Jake Seresin, @kryptonitejelly This friends to lovers fic is just *chef’s kiss*. Jake is just so swoon worthy in this fic that everytime I reread it, I get just a little bit upset that he’s not real.

From The Ashes, Jake Seresin x Natasha Trace, @myshipsaresunk This Hannix rock star au will put you through the emotional ringer but it will be so worth it! I was lucky enough to beta read this one as it was being written and the endings of some of the chapters had me literally shouting at my computer screen due to some of the characters’ life choices.

Je te Laisserai Des Mots, Bradley Bradshaw, @jupitercomet This is an arranged marriage au but it’s also what I would call a period piece au. The writer says she was heavily inspired by Greta Gerwig’s Little Women but it also gives off some regency era vibes as well. Whatever era it’s supposed to be, this fic is another one that I wish never ended because I would love to stay in the world forever.

Mamma Mia, Bob Floyd/Jake Seresin/Bradley Bradshaw, @perpetuelledaydreaming Take the plot of Mamma Mia, set it in the world of Top Gun, and you have this absolutely amazing fic! And I love how it’s tied into TGM by having the reader run into all three of them again when they’re back at Top Gun for the special detachment.

My Girl, Jake Seresin, @ereardon This fic just hits all of the right spots for me when it comes to the single dad trope. And it’s also one of those fics that I wish just never ended because I just adore this little family.

Oh, Baby, Jake Seresin, @seresinhangmanjake This is the first in a super sweet series and the emotions that come through this one had me tearing up a few times the first time I read it.

Sugar and Spice, Jake Seresin, @wombtotombx This is a fantastic fic and the way SB describes things makes you feel like you’re right there in the fic with the characters. And with how knowledgeable she is when it comes to all things Navy, there are a ton of little things in this fic that just give it that extra touch. She also has a really fantastic dad!Jake series that I highly recommend!

That's a Problem?, Bradley Bradshaw, @archivallyfound09 Another super sweet fic that does the single parent trope well! Bug and his love of his ‘Ooster and Dino snacks will absolutely melt your heart!

the echo (or the answer), Jake Seresin, @anniesocsandgeneralstore I still can’t believe that I almost skipped over this werewolf au when if first showed up on my dash but I am so glad I decided to give it a go. It quickly became one of my favorites and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it.

The Princess and The Pilot, Jake Seresin, @perfectprettypisces I am a sucker for a good ‘dating the admiral’s daughter’ fic, especially when said daughter is the only girl with over protective brothers and this one ticks both of those boxes! And the sibling dynamics in this are top notch and very believable!

Creator's Own I Heard From The Heavens, Bradley Bradshaw Not only was this the very first Top Gun fic I ever wrote, but it was the first fic I had written in six years when I posted it last year. It’s also very personal to me. One of my younger brothers is a fighter pilot in the Air Force and while I am incredibly proud of him, I still can’t help but worry about him as an older sister is wont to do so this fic was me channeling those worries and fears I sometimes have in regards to my brother.

Ok but all I can think of now is years later him finding out you still have the bear and being amazed. Like an “I really wanted to kiss you that night” “I really wanted you to” kind of thing.

And them dancing?? Maybe jake surprising you at your wedding with that being your first/last dance song (you know like how some couples will have a last dance at the end when everyone is gone and it’s just you???)

He would find the bear when you are finally moving in with him in Lemoore where he is stationed (so post Flyboy, but before the epilogue).

He’ll be helping you pull things out of boxes - you would both get a new place together, because the one he had been living in was for one, when he pulls out the bear.

He has won you numerous things and given you numerous things over the years, but this bear - he hasn’t seen it since that day, and assumed you had lost it or something; he never asked because of the almost kiss and the situation.

“You still have this,” he’ll just be staring at it in his hands, and you’ll look up from the box you are sifting through. You catch sight of the bear and just laugh softly, “yeah of course I do.”

“Do you remember that night?” He will ask, still staring at the bear and you just dust off your hands and leaning back against the couch which you are standing beside.

“Yeah..”

“I really wanted to kiss you that night.” He strokes a thumb across the bear, “but mom came out and you were so flustered, and moping about some douche-whats-his-face”. He’ll say it with a little snort at the end because >:((

“I wanted you to.”

Jake’s head is whipping around, and he is just staring at you at this moment, wondering what if….. I mean after the confession (that car scene) before that you both had been pining for soooo long, you would think he wouldn’t be surprised; but he always is. Because just how long, and how many times, did you both spend missing each other?

Idiots in love.

He sets the bear down on the table, carefully, and you are in his arms before you know it.

“What are you doing?” You are giggling a bit because he basically dashed at you, and is all serious, and is now dragging you towards the door all while you are encased in a hug - basically you both are walking like idiots in the most impractical fashion.

“I want a do over,” he manages to unlock the door and you both step out onto the patio, and Jake cups your face just like he did that night.

“You are beautiful you know,” he says in a somewhat replay of that night and he kisses you.

You are smiling as you kiss him back, the biggest, stupidest, sappiest smile because 😌😌😌😌

“You’re a stupid sap Seresin.”

“I’m your stupid sap.”

Ahhhhhhhhh 🥺 LAST DANCE. LAST. DANCE. TO IRIS BY THE GOO GOO DOLLS.

You are both exhausted - because the wedding was just so much fun, and so much happy, but it was exhausting. Your guests have mostly trickled off, with the exception of Jake’s family and yours and the dagger squad + Penny and Amelia, who are all lodging at Grandma Doris’ huge ranch - because it is sprawling and she insisted. They are all gathered around the remaining tables in the huge makeshift open air gazeebo thing that was constructed in her back garden for the wedding. Imagine lots of flowers, lights ✨

The air is cool, crisp and nice, and there is just faint music from the sound system and chatter. You have sat down in a corner, and are toeing off your heels after bidding the last guests goodbye, because your feet in heels all day - killer.

When you feel a hand slipping into your, gently tugging you up into a stand.

“Come with me?”

“Lemme put on my shoes.”

“Leave them” - Jake knows your feet are hurting.

You leave your shoes and you twine your hands with his. He has shed his jacket, and his white shirt is now rolled up to his elbows, collar unbuttoned. He isn’t drunk, and neither are you - the dinner had been beautiful and everyone had a decent amount to drink but not a crazy amount (the crazy had been done two days ago at the pre-wedding party >:))

He is pulling you out to the make shift dance floor, and then you hear it, Iris. And Jake is pulling you into his arms, and swaying you to the music - your unplanned last dance (but planned by Jake)

“Remember this?”

“The fair.”

“Mhm. When we missed each other for the ten millionth time.”

And you’ll just reach out to run a hand through his hair, pushing it back, before cupping his face. Your new wedding ring cool against his cheek, and tell him “I’m glad we missed each other so many times.”

Jake just goes 🤨?

“Because if we didn’t, all this wouldn’t have ended up so perfect.”

And he just, melts 🫠 - the song, the feel of your wedding band against his cheek, the way your hair is slightly mussed from the festivities, the way you are padding around barefoot outside with him under the stars and twinkling lights - he realises you are right, it is all just perfect.

Obvi - you get pictures from that last dance - snapped by your families and the dagger squad + penny and amelia. They actually turn out amazing - you print and hang them up; it makes Jake’s phone wallpaper, and Doris had one hanging in her house.
