Personal Space
Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw x reader
Summary: you love your personal space. Unfortunately, Bradley also loves your personal space.
Tumblr media
You never understood why Bradley stuck around. Since the academy you’d preferred to stick to yourself; get your head down and get the job done. Especially with a surname like Mitchell. You didn’t want your father and grandfather’s reputation to negatively proceed you, and by the time people had put two and two together as to whom loins you came from: you’d made your own reputation so Maverick never made much of a difference to it.
But still, having dinner in the mess you’d sat down, when someone came and thudded down next to you and began eating themselves. “I’m Bradley” he said when you finally looked up at him. You raised a brow “Bradshaw?” You ask and he nods: you recognise him from the photos your dad pinned up in your two’s hanger. You hum “and you are?” He asks “not important.” You reply, deciding you’d lost your appetite and stood to clear your plate “good talk!” Bradley said, but you were already walking away.
He’d next encountered you when you were running around the academy, early morning; before any naval training would take place. He hummed and decided it was perfectly acceptable to interrupt your jaunt with his presence. “Hey! Up so early?” He asks as he tries to match your pace from a standstill “could ask you the same.” You reply bluntly “well I wanted to get a run in before-” “well there’s your answer.” You reply, cutting him off. “You run really quick.” He says as you try to keep your pace increasing to shake him off “goodbye, Bradshaw.” You say, pulling your sunglasses over your eyes and taking off at a pace he couldn’t sustain. He just stops and shakes his head smiling, you were funny.
Eventually, you’d both gotten up in the air and were quick to earn your callsigns “Rooster” and “Hen”. Bradley earned his because he was up before the chickens, you’d earned yours because the chicken kept fucking following you around like you were his mother. You were sat on the aircraft carrier, your trainee group learning how to land on a ship deck and you’d finally gotten a moment of peace that evening. You sat on the edge of the deck, feet dangling over the edge as you watched the sunset, not moving when you hear someone slip into the space between the barriers beside you.
“Oh look my chick is back.” You mumble sarcastically and Bradley laughs loudly at you. “You love me really” he says, looking at you as if he wanted to you agree with him “you seem to keep telling yourself that, don’t you?” You hum, turning to watch the sea lap against the grey metal. You can feel him fidgeting beside you, as if antsy to say something. “What?” You ask, finally turning to look at him. “What?” He repeats, looking at you with raised brows “you want to ask me something. You’re fidgeting.” You point out “so ask me or fuck off” you say, turning away again. “Your last name is Mitchell” he says and you roll your eyes “you can read and hear. Two things I’ve learnt today.” You huff, again, with sarcasm. “Are you related to Pete Mitchell?” He asks, looking at you and nearly holding his breath “you finally put two and two together?” You ask and he lets out the breath.
“Yeah, he’s my dad.” You say after a while “I was a whoopsie baby my mother didn’t want anything to do with” you tell him. “He used to fly with my dad.” Bradley almost whispers, voice just a few octaves above. “I know” you nod “he’s practically wallpapered all over our hanger.” You say “so are you” you eye him. “He pulled my papers” he says, again after a few moments of silence “I know” you say “do you know why?” He asks “yes.” You reply, and he could tell you weren’t going to elaborate. “Y’know I’m not a fan of your dad, but I really like you.” He says and you just look at him with a blank face. “Yup” you hum to yourself and he raises a brow “just as Mother Goose was described” you say, and Bradley’s face immediately lights up with a huge grin, stretching and arm around you and pulling you into his side.
“Get off me.” “Yup, yep, sorry.”
For your first deployment, the academy set it up that you’d at least be with one person from your training squadron, and today the list of names were coming out; they were scribbled on the back of a napkin and pinned to a notice board.
“1. Haywood & Solomons, 2. Hughes & Shelley & Omaha, 3. Cooper & Parker & Cromwell & Smith, 4. Bradshaw,” you crossed your fingers as someone read out the names, then yours was read alongside Bradley’s “oh for god’s sake” you grumble, turning to see Bradley practically jumping for joy. “This is great! Me and you, Hen!” Rooster cheers and you just stare at him “should’ve called you leech cause you’re acting like one. Calm down.” You instruct and he tries to chill out, but the cheeky smile on his face was indiminishagble.
He only became more unbearable then, with you every working hour, your wingman on the missions you’d fly, inseparable despite your complaints. “Where’s your boyfriend?” Hawk asked you, as he came to sit with you for lunch. You shush him loudly. “Woah woah I only asked where he was.” “Speak his name and he shows up. I’m trying to hide.” you say in a hushed voice “plus he isn’t my boyfriend” “sure” he scoffs but the daggers being shot into his head silenced him easily.
“Hey Hen! Hawk” Bradley greets as he sits down. You grunt and point an accusatory finger at Hawk “this is your fault, jackass” you say and he laughs at you, him and Bradley engage in conversation as you just eat, having learnt the skill of drowning him out. “What about you, Hen?” Hawk asked, drawing your attention away from your plate and up to the two men alongside you, you raise an eyebrow - letting them know you were insinuating that you weren’t listening to their conversation.
“Do you want a family?” He ask and you just nod “really?” Hawk asks “that’s cute, didn’t take you for a family gal” he jokes and you harshly kick his leg under the table “kids and everything?” He asks after the pain subsides. “Yup.” You say and Bradley hums “I didn’t know that” he says and you just look at him “you never asked.” You reply simply, and that was true: he hadn’t. He was quite prepared to spend the rest of existence chasing after you, whether that meant giving you your first kiss on your deathbeds.
The two of you even went to Top Gun together, training to be the finest naval aviators of them all. And boy, you two fought to be the best; tongue and teeth, blood sweat and tears, everything. The decision came down to one final dogfight. “May the best aviator win” Rooster jokes, sticking out a hand to you. You eye it and internally question if you were insane, before leaning up to peck his cheek. “Prepare to loose, chicken.” You say, leaving him frozen in his place while you head to your plane. That day, Bradley was seriously off his A-game, and you came out on top.
A Mitchell finally Top Gun.
“Congratulations!” Bradley says excitedly on graduation day when you victoriously lifted the trophy above your head. You turned to him and he leant down slightly - you weren’t stupid, you knew what he was intending to do. “Thank you, Brad.” You say, turning to walk over to where your father was stood - knowing that was probably the only time Bradley wouldn’t follow you. That was the first time you’d ever called him anything short of Bradley Bradshaw.
“I’m so proud of you honey” your dad says, hugging you tightly and you embrace him back, smiling widely “thank you, dad” you respond and he looks behind you where Bradley was stood a while back, watching the ordeal. “Is that-” “yes” you tell him and your dad just looks at you “I wouldn’t get all teary he follows me like a lost puppy” you grumble but he just grins “he’s a good kid, hon.” He says and you shake your head “he’s definitely something”
“So how does their relationship work?” Bob asks Hangman, watching Bradley talk your ear off and you just staring ahead into space, blankly. “You see Bobby my boy,” Jake begins “Hen loves her personal space” Bob nods “Rooster also loves Hen’s personal space.” Bob nods again, now understanding. “Haven’t they done everything together though?” He asks “I think it’s more the fact that Hen does something and Rooster just kinda goes with it” Phoenix said and Bob hums, as Bradley continues to converse one-sidedly with you.
“He means well” you hear from beside you as you stare out from the hanger, turning to see your honorary uncle Tom walking towards you, you run towards him as he embraces you tightly “hey Ice” you smile, sweetly. “Hey sweetheart” he croaks. “I mean what I said.” He states and you raise a brow “he means well” he nods towards the man doing his required push ups on the ground with Hondo. “I know, Ice.” You tell him. “No, I don’t think you do” he hums and you raise your eyebrows at him. “The kids in love with you. You’ve either got to let him in or tell him to get out.” He says, “you’re living together for goodness sake”. “It was cheaper” you argue “we both know the accommodation is subsidised.” He states, matter-of-factly, patting your shoulder as he turns to go talk to your dad when he walks into the room.
It was true, you and Bradley were sharing accommodation. “Hey Hen, they’ve offered us shared accommodation back in Miramar” Bradley says, coming over with a pamphlet. “Why?” You ask, taking it out of his hands. ‘Married couple accommodation’ it states and you raise your brows “you getting ahead of yourself, Bradshaw?” You ask and he shakes his head “the guy assumed our callsigns were cause we’re a couple” he tells you and you just hum. “Well I’d rather stay there than in an apartment.” You say simply, giving him back the leaflet and refocusing on the plane you were working on repairing. “Seriously?” He asks, voice overly hopeful. You look at him and shrug “just go get the damn house, Bradshaw. Before I change my mind!” You say and he grins, turning and breaking out into almost a jog to head to confirm your living situation.
You take a moment of hesitation, before loudly groaning and heading out onto the tarmac, getting down and doing push ups alongside Rooster. He turns his head and looks at you and you just raise your brows at him. “Hey honey” he grins “hello Bradley” he nudges your hip with his own. “I’ll drive us home.” You tell him, and he raises his eyebrows “Home?” He asks and you huff “okay, Bradley I will drive the two of us back to our shared accommodation that we accidentally got given.” You say and he laughs loudly “home sounded better.”
Then after the mission, the whole Dagger squad got permanently stationed in San Diego, other than deployment, so they urged the new additions to the base to buy their own properties closer to base rather than on it. You and Bradley were sat in the Hard Deck, a long time before it was open, the rest of the Daggers spending time on the beach while the two of you were scouring Bradley’s laptop for a property. Well, Bradley was.
How about this one? He turns his screen to you. You shake your head “I want grass in the garden. I want to plant flowers” you say as you point at the paved back of the house, explaining that it’s a waste of money to have it ripped out. Bradley nods “Mkay, garden” he says, moving back to look again.
“How about this one? Beach front, close to the running track for you. Only a walk from the Hard Deck. White picket fence, really” he hums, turning the laptop again “garden?” You ask and he nods “garden.” He nods with a grin. “Shall we go look?” You ask and he raises a brow at you. “You said it’s a walk from the hard deck. Let’s go.” You say, putting the address into your phone and immediately recognising the street name, Bradley quickly falling into step with you as you walk towards the property.
You look at it and place your hands on your hips. Bradley was right. Pretty damn perfect. “Can I help you?” A lady asks, walking outside of the house, clipboard in hand. “Oh no, we’d just seen this property online and wanted to take a look.” Bradley tells her. “Well I’ve had a no-show on a viewing. How’d you like to take a look?” She suggests, motioning to the open door. “Okay” you nod, following her into the house.
“Obviously the kitchen, living room, even a deck out back with a huge garden and high fences” she says nodding out the window and you hum. “Out the side there’s an entrance straight to the beach” she motions, then starts heading up the stairs “three bedrooms, attic space, bathroom” she says “I’m guessing it’s just you two at the moment?” She asks “oh we’re not-” Bradley begins “yes, just us.” You confirm, shutting him up. “Okay, so there’s a large room for your bed and then if any new additions are to join, you have the space for them” she smiles and leads you back out front.
“It’s not cheap, it’s California. So I understand if you’re not prepared to pay that much money, do you mind me asking what you do?” She asks “we’re naval aviators.” Bradley says “stationed here?” She asks and you both nod “ah! I get why you’re looking for a property here!” She says and Bradley looks at you. “I really like it, Roo.” You say, and Bradley has to stop his jaw hitting the floor at your nickname. “It’s your call, honey” he says and you look at the lady and smile as she offers her hand “we’ll take it.”
“How shall we split the payment?” You ask Bradley as you walk back to the Hard Deck after organising a meeting with the realtor to actually finalise all the kinks and bumps. “I don’t mind doing the down payment then we’ll take it in turn paying the loan” he suggests “we can get a joint bank account and do it that way” you say and he agrees as you settle back into your seats at the Hard Deck. “Where’ve you two been?” Hangman asks “we bought a house.”
One evening, after you were all moved in and were hanging out at the Hard Deck after a long day or routine flying, you were sat outside with Rooster; watching the sunset. “When are we getting married then?” You ask and he spits out his beer “what?” He asks, eyes wide and getting progressively more giddy. “Well we live together, we have a joint bank account, and Jake keeps telling me we’re practically married. So when are we getting married?” You ask as he hugs you tightly “whenever you want, baby” he says, kissing the top of your head and pulling a ring out of his pocket to get on his knee. “Will you marry me?” He asks and you raise a brow “didn’t I just say that?” You ask bluntly “just say yes, please” he begs and you nod “yes. Yes I will marry you, Bradley Bradshaw.” You confirm as he kisses your lips gently.
“Okay get off of me now.”

Authors note: Holy shit, this has been a fun one to write. Please enjoy!

It was 4pm on a Tuesday, the slowest day of the week at the Hard Deck. You mundanely polished the shot glasses that sat on the bar counter. Despite slow days being your least favorite – you were still thrilled to be working and not stuck alone at Mavericks house.
The Hard Deck and the navy base were the only places Mav allowed you to go to alone. Well- allowed was a harsh word. It was more of an agreement between the two of you. You knew it wasn’t safe to be alone right now, as much as you longed for the freedom. It had been 4 months since you moved in with Mav. He was like family to you- and when shit hit the fan you knew he was the right person to seek refuge in.
“Scrub those anymore and they might just disappear.”
You grinned and looked up from the shot glass. It was Bradley, a customer now turned… somewhat of a friend who was very easy on the eyes. He was wearing his usual outfit of perfectly fitting jeans and a Hawaiian shirt that complemented his sun kissed skin. You’d only seen him in his navy uniform once- he said he hated the attention it brought. You wanted to tell him he still got the attention of everyone in the room without it – but you figured he’d been flattered enough in his lifetime.
Bradley introduced himself 3 months ago on the night of your first shift. He had tried to ask you out a few times now, but you had so far successfully denied all his advances. It’s not that you weren’t attracted to him, because holy shit you definitely were. It was because you knew that if he really knew why you were here. He would want nothing to do with you.
“Another dad joke to start the evening with?” you teased him and set down the glass. You found it hard to know where to look at him since his black aviators covered his eyes. You settled on his lips- which was a big mistake. He noticed where you were staring by the looks of the tiny smirk appearing on his face.
“I was just stopping by to see how my favorite bar tender is doing.” Bradley’s voice was flirty as he leaned up against the bar and took a seat. You couldn’t help but keep grinning. He was a big flirt and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t enjoy the attention. As well as the company. Finding friends, the last four months was basically impossible.
“I’m doing just dandy Bradshaw.” You said whilst filling up a glass with his favorite beer. “Same as usual.”
Bradley scoffed.
“Not giving up much information. Same as usual” he mocked back at me. You rolled your eyes and slid the beer over the counter to him. Bradley had started to ask more questions the last few weeks. All questions that you really couldn’t answer.
“Why are you living with Mav?”
“What brought you to California”
“What did you do before bartending?”
“What’s your family like?”
“Okay fine, I am happy to report I went to the movies today.” You said confidently. Hoping that this bit of personal information would satisfy him. He looked at you through squinted eyes.
“You went to a movie today? Like before work?” He questioned. There was amusement behind his eyes. You crossed your arms.
“Yes, at the theatre on base. So what? There’s nothing wrong with a good movie before work.” Bradley let out a giggle and you shot him daggers with your eyes.
“Well, I would say most people go to the movies at night and on a weekend - definitely not at senior discount hour on a Tuesday” He grinned widely.
“Unbelievable – I finally tell you something about my day and you make fun of me for it.” You still hadn’t uncrossed your arms, but your lips were curving into a small smile.
“I think its adorable.” He says, taking a sip of his beer while beaming at you. You tried to hide your blush by looking down.
You gripped the edge of the counter when the flattery you felt turned into a deep, lulling fear in your chest. The man who was after you used to take you home and beat you if a man like Bradley complimented you at a bar.
You swallowed and tried to shake off the fear. You knew you were safe here. Maverick knew you were safe here too. The Hard Deck wasn’t a military base, but it might as well be. The place was always crawling with military men and women. No one would be able to hurt you here. Not without a fight anyway.
“You okay?”
You shook yourself out of the trance you were in when you heard Bradshaw’s voice.
“Fuck, yeah I’m sorry.” You said, rubbing your hand through your hair quickly. “Just zoned out” You said, trying to convince him you were alright.
“If the flirting is crossing the line…” He began to say but you cut him off.
“No!” You might have said that a little too quickly. “I mean. No, I like us flirting. I just- my head was somewhere else just then.” You reached over the counter and cupped your hand over his for a moment before taking it away. He looked shocked at the gesture. You honestly were surprised at yourself too.
It was the first time you’d ever touched him. He was so warm and rough- but somehow still so gentle. You were trying your god damn hardest to ignore the tingles in your hand.
A group of 6 or 7 people walked up to the bar and you thanked GOD that you somehow had an excuse to walk away from the awkward as shit conversation you were having. You flashed Bradley a smile before turning around quickly to attend to the rowdy group of customers.
   * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * *
You burst into the small kitchen making a B-line for the fridge. You didn’t even bother to acknowledge Mav’s presence at the kitchen table. All you could think about was water. You filled up a glass of cold water before hastily bringing it to your lips.
You looked over your glass to see Maverick looking at you questionably.
“Try to run a mile again?” he asked.
“Two miles for your information” you retorted before filling up the empty glass once more. Your body was aching, and sweat was dripping from your forehead.
“Why do people run? Dear god its torture I swear.” You sat down at the table across from Maverick, finally feeling yourself calm down from an embarrassingly short run.
“Your therapist said it would be good for you right?”
A pang of shame popped into your chest. You nodded anyways.
“Something about helping with the anxiety.” You murmured, avoiding eye contact.
Mav was the closest thing you had to a father. Yours jumped ship as soon as you were born. But you always remember Mav being there. Between deployments and military orders, he would come by and take you and your mom out for ice cream- or to the movies. You were pretty sure your mom was in love with him at one point. But she still won’t admit that.
You missed her. But staying with her wasn’t an option. Not until this was all over. You were safest at a secured area.
“Have you heard from John?” you questioned hopefully.
John had been working with you and Maverick since you arrived in California. He was supposed to be the best private investigator around. You fucking hoped he was anyways, because neither you or Maverick could afford to pay him much longer.
“He texted me an update last night.” Mav sat back in his seat and ran his hands through his thick brown hair.
“He told me he’s still trying to recover the deleted pictures from your phone and home security cameras. He has tabs on Tim in Colorado. He is laying low there for God knows what.” Mavs jaw was clenched for a split second. You hardly ever saw him angry, but when Tim was brought up, he immediately soured – as did you. “Said once he recovers the files it will be enough evidence the Feds will have no choice but to move in on him.”
You nodded and bit the inside of your cheek. You had to involve the feds because Tim was a lead investigator at the police department in Virginia. You had tried to report him locally before- but somehow Tim would find out and nearly kill you. He had convinced everyone you were a “crazy” girlfriend. It was a hopeless situation. Until you finally ran.
“Still can’t believe an audio recording of him threatening to kill me isn’t enough.” You said sarcastically and stood up.
Mav shook his head and looked at you with sympathetic eyes. You had discussed this at length before. There was nothing either of you could do besides keep you safe and wait for John to gather evidence.
“You working at the bar tonight?” He asks. You nod.
“Yup. I better get in the shower. I’ve gotta be there by 3”
“Call me if you need me kid” He yells as you walk up the stairs of the tiny base housing.
“Always!” you shout back with a small smile on your face. You tried to ignore the aching in your chest from the conversation about Tim. Working at the Hard Deck tonight would be a good distraction from reality. Plus, you made more money there than you ever did as a Kindergarten teacher.
Your room at Mav’s place was small, but it was safe and that’s all you really cared about. You got ready for work, trying your hardest to convince yourself you weren’t wearing jeans that made your butt look good for any reason other than that they were comfortable. The tight red tank top that showed a lot more boob than you usually put on display- well that was definitely for Bradley Bradshaw. There was no denying that.
You knew you would never let him really know you- and you were pretty sure he knew that too. You were just a tease- someone he could never have. Someone nobody could have – at least not for a long time. Bradshaw was interested because he didn’t know you – once he found out you were running from a Psycho ex- he’d run like hell the other way.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * *
It was Saturday night so naturally; the bar was packed. Penny was working with you tonight, which helped relieve some of the anxiety you felt about the lines of people waiting for drinks. You had only been able to talk to Bradley for a few minutes before being swept away in craziness that was Saturday night at the Hard Deck.
“Hey sweetcheeks, can I get a beer?”  You looked up to see Jake, or Hangman as he had so kindly informed you many, many, many times.
“Sure thing” You went to grab the 10$ bill in his hand but he snatched it out of your reach. You let out an annoyed huff.
“Give me a kiss first.” He taunted, leaning his cheek towards you as if you would actually kiss him. You would literally rather run a marathon. Which is saying A LOT. Even if it was just on the cheek.
You took advantage of his eyes being shut and ripped the 10$ bill out of his hand.
“Never in a million years” You glared at him. Jake groaned at his failed attempt in flirting. You wanted to punch him in the face more times than you could count. But his flirting was pretty much harmless, besides the constant mental undressing of you every time you were in his vicinity.
You looked over at Bradley who was glaring at Hangman from across the bar. He looked like he was about murder him. His hand was wrapped around his beer with a death grip. You sighed and decided going over to talk to Bradley was way more fun than getting Jakes beer in a timely manner. Bradley noticed you walking towards him – he sat up and his body visibly let go of the tension it was holding.
“Hey” you said stupidly. He let a small grin come onto his face. A much more refreshing look than the death glare he had seconds ago.
“Hey” he says back softly. You sigh and grab his glass before refilling it on the beer tap beside you. Bradley’s eyes poured into yours. They were so beautiful and warm. You scanned the rest of his face. It was a masterpiece really. And fuck, he looked so good in the plain white t-shirt he was wearing. You tried not to stare at his muscles- but you just couldn’t help yourself.
A loud shout and crash startled you out of your trance. Your body went ridged at the sound of glass shattering on the floor. You turned to see that the freshly washed glasses stacked on the corner of the bar had been knocked over by someone.
The shattering still rang through your ears loudly. Your heart rate started to pick up and you could hear your blood pumping in every single part of your body. Your head was pulsing – your heart was beating out of your chest. You tried to breath but instead you choked on air. You knew you were in the bar- but your brain thought you were back with him, trapped.
The pain was like no other pain you’d felt. Glass was all around you –  you were covered in it. You looked down to see the clear shards turning a deep red. You could smell your own blood coming from all around you. You tried to get up from the glass but he was holding you there, letting you die –
“Y/N!” An arm shook your shoulder roughly. You looked up to see Penny with concern written all over her face. You started to breath faster. You looked past her to the glass on the floor, causing you to wince. Penny looked back at the glass and then back to you.
“What’s going on?” She asked gently, rubbing her hand up and down your arm. You backed away from her touch. You were somehow still standing, even with the panic rising in your chest. You looked to your right to see Bradley. Who looked like he was about to vault over the counter to get to you.
“Y/N…” he said with worry thick in his tone.
“I have to go.” You quickly said before dashing out of the bar towards the back door. You didn’t look back. You barely made it through the back door before vomiting in a bush to the left of the building. The anxiety was causing your stomach to wrench up all its contents. You couldn’t stop thinking about that night. The glass – the blood.
You sucked in air too quickly, time and time again despite your greatest efforts to calm your breathing. You slid down the cold wall of the building and tucked your knees to your chest.
You heard the back door open, causing you to flinch. Your eyes were so blurry from your tears you couldn’t make out who was there. You started to slide your body away from the figure.
“It’s Bradley.”
That made you stop. His voice was so gentle. So kind. You let out a loud sob between gasps for air. You could be embarrassed about it later.
“Stay away from me” You warn, as he walks towards you. He doesn’t listen and keeps walking. You wanted him to stay away – to go away. You didn’t want him to see you like this. He reached out his hand but you backed away harshly.
“Don’t touch me.” You said, shoving yourself against the wall in effort to escape him. He jerks back as if he had been burned by your words.
“Okay, I won’t touch you.” He said calmly.
He slid down the same wall you were against – but about 5 feet away. You breathed heavily.
“Please leave” you said, tears running down your face into your knees tucked under your chin.
This was so fucking embarrassing. You thought. You just wanted to disappear. How the hell were you supposed to come up with an excuse for freaking out over broken glass?
“I can’t leave you out here alone.” He says. You look up to see him staring at the night sky.
You shuddered at the thought of what could happen if you were alone. If he found you somehow. He would kill you.
Your thoughts got your body shaking again. Bradley noticed.
“What did you have for lunch today?” he asked. You popped your head from your knees to glance at him. He smiled softly when your eyes met him.
“Chicken nuggets” you replied, a shaky laugh left your lips. Bradley laughed loudly. “And you?” You ask weakly. You could already feel your breathing starting to slow with his silly distraction.
“Ramen noodles” he said with a sheepish look on his face. You laughed and then hiccupped immediately after. You lifted your head from your knees completely and let the back of your head lay against the cold wall. You were shaking from the fear, but it was slowly fading.
You sat in silence looking at the sky above you for at least 10 minutes before you felt the confidence to speak.
“Thank you” you say to Bradley, who was already looking over at you. His brown eyes sparkled in the moonlight.
“Anytime.” Is all he says, before looking back at the stars. You stared at him like he was art. Because he was, you couldn’t deny it.
“You have experience with panic attacks?”  You ask. He perks up at your question.
“What makes you think that?” He avoided the question.
“You knew to distract me. And to give me space.” You say, inching closer to him by sliding on the concrete. He avoided eye contact with you but nodded.
“I get them sometimes. Not so much anymore though.” He swallowed hard and you could tell he was uncomfortable talking about it. You reached out and grabbed his hand gently.
You knew you would regret it later. But in this moment, you wanted nothing more than to intertwine your fingers with his to somehow comfort both you and him at the same time. His large fingers wrapped around your hand. His thumb rubbed circles slowly on your hand, making goosebumps fly up your arms.
“You’re running from something” Bradley says quietly. You stiffen immediately but he keeps rubbing circles around your hand.
“What makes you think that?” You croak. You felt tears well in your eyes, but you bit your lip hard enough to make it bleed in attempt to stop them.
“You won’t talk about why you’re here. Or why you’re living with Mav.” He explains gently.        “You’re always looking over your shoulder like someone might be there”
You shut your eyes and take a deep breath. Fresh tears rolled down your face.  Bradley kept rubbing slow and soft circles around your fingers. You hated that he elicited this kind of response from you. A feeling of trust and safety that had to be something you just imagined in your head.
You didn’t want to give away any information. The fact that you were sitting here alone, holding his hand was bad enough. To feel safe with a man like Bradley gave you goosebumps. It made you think of an array of dirty thoughts that you definitely shouldn’t be thinking about.
Everything in you wanted to break the rules you set for yourself and pour your heart out to him. But you stopped yourself before you could.
“I need to go home. Will you tell Penny that I had to leave early?” You stood up and shakily wiped the back of your pants off. You tried to ignore how cold your hand felt now that it wasn’t enveloped under his.
“I’ll drive you home.” Bradley said sternly. He stood up next to you, towering over you. Good god you never noticed how big he was compared to you.
“I can drive myself.” You insisted while trying your hardest to avoid looking him in the eyes.
“Please- just – just let me drive you home so I don’t worry about you.” He paused for a moment “and I think Mav would kill me if he found out I let you drive home after tonight.”
Well, he was right about that one. You could try to hide what happened tonight when you got home hours earlier than expected. But you knew Maverick would eventually hear something about what happened from Penny.
“Fine”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * *
His car was nice, new and clean. It smelt like him. You scowled when you realized even his god damn car brought you comfort.
You looked over at the masterpiece driving beside you. His golden tan skin drew your eyes in. His arms and hands flexed whilst he drove, and you swear to god he was doing that shit on purpose. The scars on the side of his neck and face showed through the passing headlights. You found them beautiful.
You had scars too- but they made you want to vomit. You hid them away under your clothes and long hair. You even avoided looking in the mirror before showering. It was too much to see what he had done to you.
You clenched your jaw at the thought of that night again. You hated that your brain couldn’t let the trauma go. No matter how hard you wanted to forget it.
Bradley noticed you tense up, because of course he did.
Fuck.
He broke the heavy silence, just as you expected.
“Tell me what you’re running from. I can help you.” He looked over at you, and then back at the road. He looked determined.
You shifted in your seat and tugged at the fabric on your pant leg nervously. That wasn’t what you expected him to say.
“I don’t want you to get involved.” And that was the honest truth.
“Are you running because you did something illegal?” He asked, full seriousness in his voice. You snorted out a laugh.
“No. I promise I’m not a fugitive or anything” you joked, but Bradley remained serious.
“Well, then I want to be involved. Whatever it is.”
You gulped and thought about his offer. You didn’t need help escaping from Tim. You were already in the safest place you could be. But he could help you in other ways. Comfort. Companionship. Laughter. Pleasure … you clenched your thighs together instinctively. It had been years since you felt any kind of pleasure from a man.
You knew crossing that line with him would be a mistake- But God, when you looked at Bradley- you wanted to break all the god damn rules.
“You can’t help me.” You said looking out the window into the night sky. “Plus, you don’t even know me. Helping me makes no sense.” Your heart panged with sadness. Him not knowing you was the only excuse you could think of to push him away.
“I want to know you.” He said softly.
“And don’t act like I don’t know anything about you.” He mused, taking a glance at you with playful eyes. “I know your favorite beer AND that you like going to see movies with old people on Tuesdays”
You laughed and couldn’t help but smile. You shook your head and stared at him.
“Fuck.” is all you said before letting your head hit the back of the seat.
“What was that?” He asked, eyebrows raised. You stayed silent thinking about whether you should break all the rules or be good and ignore Bradley Bradshaw for the rest of your life.
“I said Fuck.” You repeated, sitting up a little straighter and puffing out your chest to gain your composure. Bradley pulled up to Mavs house and parked his car in the driveway. It was dark out, and with the headlights off you could only see parts of the man sitting next to you.
“Fuck, what exactly?” He wriggled his eyebrows and you punched him in the arm.
“You’re an idiot.” You said, smiling. You swallowed and enjoyed the feeling of being with him. You wanted to cherish it.
You looked into his brown eyes and got lost. You LET yourself fully let go for a moment. You scanned him from his hair to his thighs. You listened to his slow breathing, and you swore it was quiet enough to hear his heartbeat.
“I’m not running from something. I’m running from someone” you blurted out. You watched Bradley take in your words. His face went from shocked, curious, worried and angry all within a few moments. He stayed silent.
“I can’t believe I just told you that.” You said blankly. Slumping in your seat. You had expected to feel relieved. But instead, you felt anxiety. Fear of having to tell him more – things that you weren’t ready to admit.
“You can’t keep everything to yourself” he nudged. You wanted to run from him. You wanted to slam the car door in his face and destroy the stupid feelings that were bubbling in your chest.
“Mav knows everything. He’s like a father to me. That’s why I came here -I knew I’d be safe. Guarded by the navy and all that.” You joked half-heartedly.
Bradley mustered up a small smile, but you could tell he had a million questions to ask. You appreciated his patience.
“The glass tonight….” You trailed off and shook your head. Your eyes fell to your lap. Were you really telling Bradley Bradshaw this? When you thought about it you didn’t even know him. You had tried your best to avoid that. He wasn’t supposed to really mean anything to you – and you were just supposed to be a tease to him.
But here you are, sitting with him alone in his car- pouring your fucking heart out.
“What’s your favorite color?” you ask, looking up at Bradley curiously. He raised an eyebrow.
“Blue. And yours?”
“Green.” You explain. “Forest green, like the redwoods up north.”
Bradley hummed in response. His hands were sitting in his lap and you couldn’t help but wish they were holding yours. But you were too much of a chicken to admit that.
“I’m sorry. I just realized I hardly know you.” You admitted, giving him a small smile. “Yet here I am, about to dump all my secrets to you.” You were joked, once again to try to ease the anxiety you felt.
“Sure you do. I mean you’ve talked to me almost every day for the last three months.”
You shrugged.
“Good point.”
You unbuckled your seatbelt and turned towards him, flipping your legs up to sit crisscrossed. You leaned your back against the car door and sighed.
“The glass.” You said shakily. “It uh- reminded me…”
Fuck this was hard to talk about. But isn’t this what your therapist had told you to do? Not bottle up the memories when they arise? Make friends?
“He pushed me through a sliding glass door. I landed backwards all over the glass.” You couldn’t muster up the courage to look at Bradley. “He thought I would tell the paramedics about the abuse. I had to beg him to call the ambulance.” You whispered softly.
“So, when I heard the glass tonight- it just brought me back.” You felt the scars on the back of your neck and body burn. You sucked in a breath and peaked a glance at Bradley.
He was tense. He looked like he was trying to contain his emotions by clenching his fists in his lap. His jaw was clamped shut. But you also noticed sadness in his eyes, a true sadness that you weren’t expecting.
“That was 6 months ago.” You twisted your lips together and debated if you should continue spilling your guts out to the man across from you. You decided you’d take the risk.
“I managed to run away from him while he was on a work trip.  I went to my mom’s house a few states away, but it was only a few days before he showed up” You felt your voice grow weak. “I was at the store when he came to the house– he threatened to hurt my mom.” The pain you felt in your chest was palpable.
“I called Mav and told him I needed to hide. Until I had enough evidence for the feds to arrest him.” You looked at Bradley. “I called him on a payphone before I came here and told him to stay away from my family – because I was going to go somewhere he would never find me.” You pushed your hair behind your ears nervously. “The last thing he said was that when he found me, he would kill me.”
Bradley’s face hardened and you could see his neck was turning red with anger.
“He won’t find you.” His voice was strong and assuring. “You’ll be safe here.”
You gave him a small smile.
“Yeah, I know.” You said lightly.
Bradley gulped and hesitantly reached for your hand. You quickly met him halfway and allowed his hand to envelope yours. The intertwined hands rested on your lap.
“Thank you for telling me.” He said, rubbing those damn circles with his thumb on your hand again.
“And I swear to god that son of a bitch will not come near you again.” His voice was dark when he spoke. You gulped.
“Yeah. I really hope so.” You looked down at your hands and flinched at the thoughts that came into your mind.
“He would kill me if he knew I was holding your hand.” You said quietly. Bradley tensed.
“He’s not going to hurt you again.” He promised, giving your hand a squeeze. “I won’t let him.”
“I don’t want him to hurt you.” You emphasized. “If he saw you with me. Even- even as friends – he would- he could.” Bradley interrupted your spiraling thoughts.
“But he won’t. He won’t hurt me, and he won’t hurt you. Okay?” His eyes met yours and you could see how serious he was. Your heart ached.
This man, who you barley fucking knew was promising to keep you safe. Was swearing that nothing would happen to you again. It didn’t feel real. You knew that promising safety wasn’t a reality.
“You’re insane.” Is all you could think of to say back to him. He cracked a big grin- which was a relief to see over his I’m going to kill your ex- boyfriend look.
“Wouldn’t be the first time I’ve been told that.” You smirked and took in a deep breath.
Before you could speak, he did.
“Let me take you out to dinner tomorrow.”
You laughed loudly and looked at him only to see that he was dead serious.
“Oh my god, you really are an idiot.”
Bradley laughed louder than you had.
“You know that’s the second time today you’ve called me an idiot. But somehow, I’m still infatuated with you.” He was full on smiling now, and you wished he didn’t look so fucking good.
“I just told you that my psycho ex is out to KILL me.” You reiterated. When he didn’t even flinch, you continued. “AND that if he even saw you with me, he would want to KILL you too!” You exclaimed, fear once again overtaking you. Bradley sat up and leaned into your space while looking deep into your eyes.
“Let me make this clear sweetheart. I’m not scared of that bastard.” He let go of your hand and reached up to your cheek instead. Your heart was thumping.
Oh god was he going to kiss you? Fuck. You didn’t think you were ready for that.
“And if you want to go to dinner with me then you should. Because I’m not going to let anything happen to you or me.” His eyes flickered to your lips- but only for a moment. You felt him tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear before retreating to his seat. You let out a breath you didn’t even realize you were holding in.
“I want to get dinner with you.” You said quietly. “But I’m still healing Bradley.” You said with shame dripping from your words. “Knowing that he’s out there looking for me scares the shit out of me.”
Bradley nodded his head in understanding.
“I won’t push you into anything you don’t want to do. Ever.” He said calmly. “I’ll go your pace. And if you decide that I’m an annoying nuisance then just tell me to get lost.”
You giggled at that and smiled at him.
“You’re really something Bradshaw.”
God he was handsome. His soft lips looked more kissable than ever. But you reframed from reaching for them.
“Take my number.”  you said while pulling your phone out of your pocket. You swore you saw him sneak a glance at your chest while you did. It made you smirk.
He took your phone and typed in his number while you TRIED not to stare at how freakishly large his hands were. Not to mention how long his fingers were.
“I’ll text you when I get inside.” You said, tucking your phone away. “Since I know you were going to ask me to anyway.”
Bradley grinned.
“See! You do know me.” He said proudly.
You laughed and opened the car door. You stepped out and looked back at him.
“Thank you- for everything. For listening.” You said softly.
“Anytime.” He said just as soft as you had. “I’ll wait until I see you get inside to leave.” You nodded and went to shut the door but his voice stopped you.
“AND I’ll text you about those dinner plans tomorrow.”
You blushed and nodded before shutting the car door. You walked up to the house door and unlocked it – looking back to wave at Bradley before walking in and closing the door.
As soon as it shut you rubbed your hands over your face.
Holy shit. What have you gotten yourself into with Bradley Bradshaw?

Yes Ma’am
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: I feel like Rooster would definitely say yes ma’am all the time in a sweet way! Also italics are flashbacks
Pairing: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw x Reader
Summary: Rooster makes you flustered and he knows it ;)
Warnings: None!! A lot of fluff and implied smut
...
You don’t know why it makes you so hot and bothered, but it does. And of course he noticed. The one and only Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw. Damn him. It had happened randomly one day, and your reaction was engraved in his brain.
You were cleaning up at the bar and couldn’t reach some cleaning supplies. The whole group stayed behind and helped you clean up despite you telling them it was fine.
“Hey Bradshaw, can you come help me reach this?” You asked, struggling to reach.
“Yes ma’am” He replied simply and grabbed the supplies down.
You immediately went red. Something about those two words made you suddenly forget how to breath. Especially those two words directed at you, coming from that man.
Rooster noticed how you reacted. He didn’t mean it in a flirty way but he took note of how flustered it made you.
Since that day, Rooster has made sure to say that to you as often as he could. You reacted the same every time. He loved it. He would even try to get you to ask something so he could respond with it.
“Hey y/n, do you like my new shirt?” He had asked you one day
“It looks just like your other Hawaiian shirts. That’s new?” You asked confused
“Yes ma’am, it is” He smirked at you
“Oh- uh- well its’s very- uh nice yeah..” You stuttered and started walking away fast.
He laughed and watched as you practically ran away.
A few days later everyone was having drinks together and you were sat next to Rooster.
“Is that the new beer we just got in?” You asked him, wondering because you wanted to try it too.
“Yes ma’am”, he let out a small laugh and looked you right in the eyes, “Wanna try it?”
“Oh uh it’s ok, I don’t wanna take any of your drink” You said as heat spread through your body. You were sure you looked just like a tomato.
“Don’t worry darlin’, here, try it” He held the cup up to you and you took a sip. He watched you the entire time.
“That’s really good!” You stated
“Yes ma’am, very good” Rooster was wanting to see how flustered he could get you.
You couldn’t take it. Your body felt like it was on fire. This man was killing you.
“Alright I think I’m gonna head out guys” You said quickly and left. Before you got to your car you felt Rooster grabbing your hand. You turned around to look at him and he kept walking forward til your back hit the car. He put his arms on either side of you, trapping you.
You were looking up at him through your eyelashes, unsure of what was happening.
“Bradley?” You said
“Yes ma’am?” He replied
“Can you kiss me?” You asked as you ran your hands up his chest and around his neck
“Yes ma’am” He groaned and started to kiss you. You two made out for a while just like that. His hands roamed your body and yours stayed put on his neck. Eventually he pulled away
“So, “Yes ma’am” does it for ya?” He joked with you.
“Ughhh I don’t even know, when you say it it’s my weakness for some reason” You looked down embarrassed. That comment went straight to his ego.
“Oh so it’s only when I say it?” He laughed “I’ll say it all day long if it means I get to kiss you”
Your heart fluttered and you smiled at him.
“So, can I have another kiss?” He asked you
“Yes, sir” You replied cheekily.
He groaned and put his head on your shoulder.
“I get it now because if you say that again, I’ll have to take you back to my place” He said in a low strained voice. You leaned into him.
“Yes sir” You whispered in his ear. Oh yeah, you were in for a long night.

300 Awkward Blind Dates Later...
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Reader
Summary: You go on a blind date on your birthday so you don't have to spend it alone, but it ends up going better than you expected.
A/N: Hey friends! This is a little birthday drabble for my buddy @roosterforme. Thank you for being such a help and inspiration, you're the best!
Warnings: fluff, maybe swearing, a whole lot of sweetness so book your dentist ASAP, allusions to smut (bc I can't help myself), spice
Word Count: 2,617
----------------------------------------------
You take a deep breath and fix your hair in your rear view mirror. You look down at your dress and check your phone one last time. You'd thought your ex would at least act like he cared that it was your birthday. He wanted you back, and yet he couldn't be bothered to text you on your birthday. So, that's why you were on a blind date on your birthday.
You put your phone away and walk into the restaurant, sitting at the bar. The bartender immediately comes over and you order a soda, presuming this date won't last long enough for you to finish any alcohol.
Once you have your soda, you let yourself relax a little bit. You let yourself get lost in the bustle of the bar at happy hour. That is until you hear a voice startle you out of your daze.
"Excuse me? Do you mind if I sit here, ma'am?"
You snap your head to your left to see the hottest man God has ever created. He has curly brown hair and a gorgeous mustache to match. He's got chocolate brown eyes that you could easily see yourself getting lost in-
"Oh! Yeah, sure." You turn to look at the clock to see that your date is 40 minutes late. You pull out your phone and see that your date had cancelled because you didn't sound like his "type," and he didn't want to waste your time. "I've been stood up, apparently, so I should probably go anyway."
The stranger frowns and takes the seat next to yours, "well, apparently it's a blind date."
"How'd you know that?"
He smirks, "if he knew what you look like, he wouldn't have stood you up. You're perfect."
You blush and as the bartender takes the stranger's order, you ask her for a refill on your soda. Before you can take your card out of your wallet to pay out, a rough hand covers yours.
"You can add it to my tab. Both of the drinks." You look up and meet his incredible eyes.
"Are you sure? You don't even know my name."
He laughs and turns your hand over to shake it, "well, I'm Bradley. Bradley Bradshaw. And you are?"
You introduce yourself, and you notice that although you're not shaking hands, neither of you have let go. There's something... right about how his hand feels on yours. It feels like you're home. You subtly roll your eyes at yourself before dropping his hand.
"Well, Bradley, why do you insist on paying for my drinks?"
He grins, putting his arm around the back of your chair, "well, miss Y/N, my mom always told me to pay for a lady's drinks on a date."
"You're awfully bold to assume this is a date," you raise your glass to your lips, smirking at him over the top.
"You were already here on a date. It's not my fault I had to step into that clown's shoes. I'm just taking a shot."
"And if I said this wasn't a date?"
"Well, I would be crushed. I think you're great. You're funny, you're hot, although we do have to have a talk about stranger danger."
You scoot your stool closer to him and start drawing circles on his leg with your finger. The second your fingertip touches him, you feel him tense up and you smile softly, "I'm hot?"
He leans in closer so his lips are almost touching your ear, "baby you're the hottest person in the whole damn bar. As soon as I saw you, you were all that mattered. Especially because I would really, really like to see you again. Tonight. In my bedroom. Preferably under me. "
You bite your lip and stand, heading for the door. You go out and stand next to your car around the corner and wait. Not even 30 minutes later, you hear the restaurant door open and close, followed by footsteps on the concrete. Bradley turns the corner speeds up, jogging toward you.
You open your mouth to speak, but before you can ask Bradley to follow you home, his arms are around you and his mouth is on yours. You moan into the kiss and back up against your car, letting your lips dance with his. His lips were coarse, but in the best way, where it feels like static electricity.
He pulls away and immediately blurts out, "do you want to come home with me?"
"Let's go. I'll come get my car tomorrow."
"No, we'll come get your car tomorrow. I don't plan on letting you go."

Introducing the Jekyll Estate staff
|
|
- Mrs. Jessica ‘Harpy’ Harpshire is Jekyll’s tightly wound and stiff-lipped housekeeper. Hired shortly after Poole, Mrs. Harpshire has been well acquainted with the Jekyll family since Henry’s boyhood. She has seen it all, and subsequently knows how to keep things in order… even without the presence of her beloved husband John. Deemed ‘the Harpy’ by Bradshaw, she is respected and feared by nearly all of the staff (Poole being the only exception).
- Mr. Steven Poole is the eldest and most tenured member of the staff. Poole has performed many roles within the house over his twenty years of service as head butler and valet to Dr. Jekyll and his father. Loyal to a fault, Poole will see to it that his master’s house and reputation is kept in perfect condition, come any trial that may arise.
- Mrs. Lillian Davies is Jekyll’s cook and head laundress. After severely injuring her leg in an east end wash house, Mrs. Davies found herself and her three children in desperate need for work and shelter. Enter Dr. Jekyll. When she is not in the kitchen preparing for lavish dinner parties or ensuring the master does not starve himself to death, Mrs. Davies spends her time instilling her values of hard work and integrity to her children.
- Mr. Niles Bradshaw serves as Jekyll’s footman and unofficial jester (much to everyone’s dismay). Jovial and charismatic, Bradshaw ensures that the house is never entirely quiet. His good looks are readily used to incite the attention of any woman he encounters, but unfortunately for him, never quite seem to catch the eye of the one person he actually wants to notice him…
- Ms. Valentine Davies is the youngest member of the staff at 15 years old, but her age is hardly noticed in the wake of her shining character and determination. After working several years under her mother’s tutorage as a scullery maid, Valentine worked herself through the ranks to become one of Jekyll’s housemaids. Kindhearted and empathic, Valentine is quick to endear herself to nearly everyone she encounters.
- Ms. Emily Waller is Jekyll’s infamously levelheaded chambermaid. Having come from several houses prior to working at No. 28 Leicester Sq, Emily has learned how to thrive in the cutthroat world of service, even if it is to her detriment. She is quiet, wise beyond her years, and knows far more than she would ever dare to say aloud, even to her friend and coworker Valentine.

He's Your Husband?
Tumblr media
"Good morning class!" I smiled, walking in with a tumbler, filled to the brim with coffee from the teacher's lounge.
"Good morning Ms. Bradshaw!" the chorus of twenty five and six year-olds rang back to me. I smiled to myself before placing my coffee on my desk.
I grinned as I turned back to my class. "Who knows what we're doing today?" I asked, opening my arms and placing a look of excitement in my eyes.
A few kids raise their hands. Liam, the sweet six year old who's desk was closest to the front smart board that I stood in front of wiggled in his seat as his hand raised, accompanied by an 'Oooh me! me!'. I chuckled, before pointing to him. "Yes, Liam?"
"We're gonna learn about planes!" He cheered, moving his arms outward in a circular motion to mimic one of the planes. This elicited chuckles, from both me and his fellow peers.
"But there is something else, why are these chairs by your desks?" I asked placing my hands in a 'why' matter, to get them to realize I was asking a question.
Brows furrowed around the room, as the kids noticed two chairs on either side of their desk groups of 4. Emma, a very cute and smaller than most of her classmates, raised her hands. "Yes, Emma?" I asked, crossing my arms as I smiled at the small ginger haired girl.
"These are our big buddy desks! Are our big buddies coming?" She asked, smiling up as she bounced in her chair with excitement, her formerly raised hand coming back down to her side.
My smile could only grow wider, out of either admiring how cute she was or how proud I was for her noticing. "They are!" I smiled as the class roared in cheers. I checked my watch to view the time.
"Are our big buddies going to learn about planes with us?" Noah, a blonde boy in the back asked.  "They sure are!" I confirmed, as I walked over to my desk, to check my phone. 'On the way.' I read the text from Mr. Brooks. I pursed my lips as I read the text. I disliked Mr. Brooks. Despite being a married woman who proudly wears her wedding ring, he seems absolutely determined to convince me to go on a date with him. The only reason I can stand to put up with him is so that my kids can see their big buddies, who are all partnered with Mr. Brooks' class.
I leaned backwards against the back of my desk as my class talked amongst themselves. A knock on the door only caused them to get louder. I smiled at them, winking as I walked over to the wooden door. I opened it to find Mr. Brooks and his fifth grade place. Placing a polite small on my face,  I waved at the kids. "Hello 5th Graders!" I smiled as they all were bouncing in their line with excitement.
"Hi Ms. Bradshaw!" They rang back as I laughed.
"Alrighty guys, what do we remember about playing with our little buddies today?" Mr Brooks addressed his class.
"To be nice, and polite, and learn about planes!" They all exclaimed together in sync causing me to laugh as I opened the door wider, motioning for them to go inside. The older kids rushed into the classroom, finding their buddies and sitting down at the assigned seats with little name cards on them.
Tim followed his class inside, and I sat on the back wall of my class, closest to the door. It was a cabinet wall, with sinks aligned and storage on the top and bottom with a small opening for the counters, atop which I sat. The man stood next to me, and checked his watch. "I mean it's the navy, aren't they supposed to be on time?" He complained, jokingly to me.
I could only hold back as I checked my phone before responding, "They still have five minutes, Tim. Let loose a little." I joked, as he scoffed, muttering something along the lines of 'this is why the army is better'.
I rolled my eyes and then heard a knock at the door. All of the kids in class turned towards me as I hopped down from the counter, placing my hands out and a surprised look on my face. "I wonder who that could be?" I asked the class, who seemingly got even more excited.
I walked over to the door, opening it to see my husband, who somehow managed to always put an immense grin on my face. "Hey there, Ms. Bradshaw. I heard you got a classroom full of kids ready to learn about planes." He spoke loudly, for the class to overhear.
I could only laugh before opening the door wider for him to enter, a navy backpack hoisted over his shoulders as another pilot filed in after him. Tim went with Bradley to address the class as another pilot slipped in the door.
Her jett black haired was gelled back into a bun as she greeted me. "Hi, I'm Natasha." She smiled, her hand outstretched for a handshake.
"Y/N Bradshaw, I'm Bradley's wife." I exclaimed, shaking her hand as she looked shock.
She huffed, looking at the man in the front of the classroom, who was energetically explaining the difference between the Navy and the Army, before moving on to the planes and why he wasn't in the air force. " Really? Rooster managed to bag you?" She joked, causing me to give a small chuckle.
"Yeah. Somehow. What's your callsign if you don't mind me asking?" I smiled, watching Bradley entertain the class.
 "Not at all, it's-"
"And this here is my friend, Phoenix! She drives a plane that seats two people!" Bradley interrupted, motioning towards the girl while holding up two fingers. She mouthed a 'sorry' at me, and I winked back as she moved to the front of the class to help explain the difference between planes that seat one person versus planes that seat two.
I smiled as I sat back on the counter, admiring Bradley as he pulled out a model plane to pass around. Tim moved back around the class, after realizing he would not be very useful in giving the plane demonstration. "So, Y/N-" He turned towards me, leaning his back on the countertop next to me.
I sighed, closing my eyes as I briefly mentally prepared myself. "You ask every time Tim, and every time my answer is no." I flat out spoke, laying down the lines.
He looked at me confused and slightly angry before countering, "Well, I'm here a lot more than your husband. I mean, where even is he? You never talk about him." He argued, before both of us were snapped out of it by hearing Bradley calling on a student.
"Yes, and what's your name?" Rooster smiled, pointing at the small ginger haired girl.
"My name is Emma! If what you do is super duper dangerous, isn't your wife worried about you?" She smiled up at him, looking slightly confused as she asked her question.
Bradley thought for a minute, putting a goofy face on and looking upwards before responding. "Thank you Emma, and yes, my wife is super duper worried about me all of the time. But luckily she believes in me." He spoke, looking towards me and winking mid sentence.
I crossed my arms, smiling and shaking my head as another little boy, one of the fifth graders I barely knew raised his hand. "Yes?" Rooster responded, pointing at him.
"Why'd you wink at Ms. Bradshaw when you were talking about your wife?" He asked, confused and looing at him as if he was very weird.  My face went bright red as I struggled to keep my smile on my face as most of the kids muttered 'yeah!' in agreement.
Bradley smiled a little more, his eyes going wide in almost an 'oh shit' way. He looked like he was a deer caught in headlights as he looked to me, in a 'save me' kind of way.  "Alright guys, who wants to see a video of us flying the planes?" Phoenix clapped, motioning her hands outward, effectively changing the subjects as all of the kids cheered and Natasha started pulling it up on the computer attached to the smart board. Tim went to turn off the lights before returning.
Bradley took this time to slip away to the back to where me and Mr. Brooks were. I smiled at him as he walked up, winking at him as I noticed Tim tense up, almost making himself bigger as Rooster approached.
"Well that was fun." He smiled as he stood next to us. "I'm Bradley, by the way, my callsign is Rooster." He smiled, outstretching his arm and hand to shake Tim's.
Tim looked at him judgmentally, almost hesitant to shake his hand before doing so. "Tim Brooks." He nodded, an almost smile on his face.
I was torn away from the awkward conversation as Emma came running up to me. "Ms. Bradshaw, I'm sorry to interrupt." she apologized, looking up at me from where I was sitting on the counter.
"It's okay sweetie, what do you need?" I asked, a warm smile on my face as I looked down at the little girl.
"Can I use the restroom?" She asked, as I quirked a brow, tilting my head at her pointedly. She looked confused for a second before it dawned on her, her mouth forming a small 'o' before rephrasing. "May I use the restroom?" She nodded, smiling upwardly, abundantly proud of herself.
"Yes you may." I smiled at her, before turning to Rooster.
"Bradley can you hand her the bathroom pass? It's the red plastic rectangle on the hook next to the door." I nodded towards the door, where the bathroom pass hung from it's hook.
The small child followed Bradley to the door, where he took it off the rack and handed it to her. "Here ya go little lady."
He smiled, his heart almost melting as she gave him a hug on his leg. "Thank you!" She said before opening the door and going to the restroom down the hall. Bradley walked back over, his mouth slightly ajar in shock as his eyes held nothing but happiness.
This goofball- "That was adorable." He whispered, causing me to laugh as Tim muttered something about 'just working with kids'. "But speaking of the restroom, where is the adult one?" He asked, looking at the two of us.
"It's down the hall. On the right." Tim responded, before gluing his eyes back to the screen that showed planes doing certain things as Phoenix paused every now and then to explain what the maneuver was called.
"You need a key, here I'll take you." I smiled, hopping back off of the counter before walking over the door, Bradley following hot on my heels. I sighed as I closed the door behind us to the classroom, as Bradley grabbed my hand.
"I don't like that guy." He expressed, as we held hands while walking down the hallway.
I smiled, looking back at him before responding, "Me either." I winked at him, as he stopped in his tracks, causing me to jerk back as we were still holding hands. "What?" I asked confused, but a smile still on my face as I looked at my favorite person in the world.
"Why don't we let him know?" He asked, a smirk on his face as I noticed the aviators that clung to the collar of his shirt.
"Let him know what?" I quirked an eyebrow as his hands grabbed my waist, pulling me closer. I giggled as I threw my arms over his shoulders.
"That you're my wife." He smiled, pressing a kiss to my lips, eliciting a fit of laughter from me.
"Okay, Lieutenant. Stop skipping class and got potty." I smirked up at him before laughing as he pulled back, a goofy look of shock on his face.
"How dare you Ms. Bradshaw, I am an excellent student." He pointed his finger at me, seriously before smiling and laughing as well as I unlocked the door for him.
About five minutes later we were both back in the classroom, and the video of the planes had finished. "Alright guys, well we're glad you had so much fun today!" Phoenix smiled before the class as Rooster stood next to him.
I stood to the side, sitting at the stand that held the video of the planes, as I watched the two naval aviators before me.
"But, unfortunately it is time for us to leave. Is there any last questions?" Rooster continued, as only one hand raised, Liam. Bradley pointed to the boy.
"What's your name? I know your callsign is Rooster, but what can we call you?" He asked, tilting his head as he indicated his confusion.
Rooster smiled, glancing at me before responding. "My name is Bradley Bradshaw. I'm a Lieutenant. So you can call me Lieutenant Bradshaw. Or just Rooster is fine." He smiled, as the class seemed to get even more confused.
"Like Ms. Bradshaw?" He asked, clarifying.
Bradley nodded, "Exactly like Ms. Bradshaw." He responded, a goofy smirk on his face as he addressed the kid, and then Emma raised her hand.
"Yes, Emma?" He asked, nodding to the ginger girl.
"Is that why you and Ms Bradshaw were kissing in the hallway? Are you married?" She teased, smiling up at him as she bounced in her seat.
Bradley hesitated, a caught look on his face as he smiled. "Yes, Emma. I'm Ms. Bradshaw's husband." he revealed, causing the class to go wild and jaws dropped. Oh god. They're never gonna let me live this down.
Tim turned to me, brows furrowed in confusion as he looked mad. "He's your husband?" He seethed, as I could only stare the naval aviator who waved his goodbyes as the bell ringed for the class to go to carpool. The kids filed out as Rooster and Phoenix waved and high fived goodbye.
"Yes. Yes, he is." I smiled, not even bothering to look over as Mr. Brooks huffed and rolled his eyes, muttering things to himself as he stormed out of the classroom.
"Well, that was fun. Please invite us back any time." Phoenix smiled, as she packed up her gear. "Also, Rooster you can totally ride back with her to the base if you want, I can take my car back solo." She offered, smirking at the two of us.
"Thanks, Phoenix." I nodded as she gave a mock salute before heading out the door, the Navy gear backpack on her shoulders as she walked out the door.
Bradley sat at one of the desks, a look of admiration in his eyes as I packed up at my desk. "What?" I ask, looking at him, quirking an eyebrow.
He smiled at me, placing puppy dog eyes on his face before responding. "Can we have kids now?"

Personal Space (two Bradshaws like it now)
Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw x Reader
Summary: A sequel in which you love your personal space. Unfortunately, Bradley also loves your personal space. Even more so now you’ve had a baby, apparently.
Can be read as a part 2, but doesn’t have to be. Read Personal Space here
Tumblr media
You really didn’t know when it all happened, when you and Bradley became a thing. At first he was just an annoying crew member you couldn’t shake off your tail. Then he was your wingman. Then you got accidentally placed into marriage accommodation and the two of you played it off so you could get better housing. Then you actually bought a house. And then somewhere along the way you got married.
“Where shall we have the wedding?” Bradley asked and you raised a brow “register office” you shrug “what you don’t want a wedding?” He asks, hand on his chest as he feigns offence. “You do?” You ask and he nods vigorously. You huff. “Fine” “so shall we do it on the beach?” He asks “okay” you just go along with it, hardly even entertaining the idea at all.
“So? What do you think?” Nat asks as she makes you pivot in a white gown “I think I look like a roll of toilet paper” you said, crossing your arms “maybe it’s just not the dress for you?” She reasons and you shake your head “just not really into the whole idea of this wedding. I kinda thought we’d just sign papers and get on with it” you said “well you picked Bradshaw, he’s a drama queen at the best of times” she says and you him in agreement; your consultant leading you back to the fitting rooms “let’s try another”.
You’d left with a sleeved dress; hating the idea of having a low cut dress, and begging Nat to just let you leave. Sure, you loved the dress - but you loved the idea of getting out of that suffocating shop more.
“Hey honey” Bradley had said, hearing you walk into the house and set your keys on the kitchen counter. “Hi” you reply shortly, moving to fill your cup with water from the sink. “How was your day?” He asked, moving to rest his head on your shoulder and holding you from behind. “Good. Bought a wedding dress” you say simply “you did what?!”
Then on your wedding day, you’d stared at yourself in the mirror far too long. “You look gorgeous” Penny whispers, squeezing your shoulders comfortingly “I look like a fucking pin up doll” you huff, not necessarily believing yourself - just not used to being such a central perspective of attention. “Wow” your dad says, walking into the room “you look gorgeous” he whispers “is there an echo in here?” You mumble, but smile at him “thank you” you say, wiping the tears from under his eyes. “C’mon, Bradley’s nearly about to come get you himself”
You showed up to the beach-front wedding right on time, completely dead against the idea of being in any way, shape, or form late. Your father gave you away, Bradley in floods of tears at the end of the isle by the time you’d gotten there. “You look incredible” he whispers, lips quivering as he stares at you “shut up you’re going to make me cry.” You grumble, but smile. “It’s okay to cry.” He says, as the ceremony begins. “You may now kiss your bride” and Bradley dipped you and kissed you sweetly, drowning out the cheers of those around you. “I love you, Bradshaw.” You say, smally, “I love you more, sweetheart” he says and kisses your forehead “you’re crying” he points out “shut up”
And then you looked at the two lines on the pregnancy test two years later. You hummed “okay” and looked at yourself in the mirror, knowing nothing else other than the fact that you had to tell Bradley right that second. You marched downstairs, where he was sat playing with some keys on the piano you’d bought him last Christmas, stopping next to him. “Hey baby, y’alright?” He asked, and you just held out the stick to him. “What’s this?” He asks, taking it from you and looking over it once. “You serious?” He asked, looking at you; smile growing from ear to ear “you’re pregnant?” He almost whispers “unless the other four lied.” you say and he jumps up and pulls you into his arms, kissing all over your face until you shouted at him to stop.
He knelt down and looked at your stomach, kissing it gently then moving to put his ear against it “uh huh” he hummed “Bradley what are you-” “shush I’m talking to em” he says and you stand, unimpressed, but let him nonetheless. “Oh yeah baby, I’m excited to meet you too” he coos “yeah, yeah, I’m your dad” and you audibly giggle. He looks up at you, eyes wide “you done?” You ask and he nods “yeah little one was done talking” he smiles, and hugs you close again. “I need to get the baby clothes out of the attic” he mumbles, kissing your temple “the what?” You ask “I bought them when we started renting the house!” He says, dragging you excitedly up the stairs “but we own the house, Brad” you him “no, no, the one we had during the mission!” He says and you gasp internally, realising how long the two of you had been together without even noticing it.
“Hey dad” you say, as you and Bradley head into the hangar he and you owned “hey honey, hey Brad” your dad greets, wiping the oil from his hands to come over and talk to the two of you. He kissed your forehead and hugged you, then your husband before walking back over to the aircraft he was working on. “Thought you needed a new picture for your pinboard” you hum “oh? I just added the wedding photo!” He says, excitedly, showing you the filled gap. “Okay, guess you don’t want the sonogram of your grandchild.” You say, turning to head out before Bradley hurriedly grabbed you and turned you back into the situation, pulling the strip of photos from his breast pocket. Your dad stood with his jaw wide open “you’re-” he breathes “you’re really pregnant?” He asks as his eyes well with tears “well I wouldn’t lie-” you say but he just pulls you into a big bear hug, pinning Baby Bradshaw’s picture onto his board.
You head to go look at the part of the engine your dad couldn’t quite fix while Bradley held back with Maverick. He turns to him and shakes his hand “your dad would’ve been so proud.” He says, smiling at Bradley “I know you are.” Rooster smiles, wordlessly being pulled into a hug with his father-in-law.
Then one evening you were sat up in bed, Bradley sound asleep beside you as you look down at the barely visible bump. Bradley had sort of a sixth sense, somehow knowing you weren’t asleep beside him. “Hey, baby what’s up?” He croaks, immediately moving to sit up with you when he sees his senses were correct. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to do, Bradley.” You say, staring ahead at the wall “what do you mean?” He asks, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. “I mean I’m a fighter pilot, I was raised by a single father, I never had that maternal instinct, what am I doing?” You whisper, and when Bradley managed to finally pull your face towards him you were crying “oh sweetheart” he hums, pulling you into him gently “you’re gonna be the best momma ever, and the fact that you worry proves that. I love you, okay?” He comforts “I know. I love you too.”
You were stubborn the whole pregnancy. You thought it was ridiculous that people just stopped when they were pregnant, and Bradley was trailing you trying anything to get you to just relax. “Hen, please!” He begs as you head out for your morning run “I’m three months pregnant, Bradley. I’m not incompetent.” You snap, as he begrudgingly pulls on his running shoes and follows you out the door. He pulled you back anytime you went quicker than a 10 minute mile “Bradley, if you slow me down one more time I’m going to pull your arm out of your socket” you snap and he holds his hands up “message received.”
Then one day, at around the sixth month mark you walked into the house and slammed the door so hard it rattled. “What’s up?” Bradley asked, as you practically threw your stuff on the floor. “They’re putting me on the desk.” You grumble, anger evident in your eyes while his soften “oh baby we knew that was gonna happen” he soothes, rubbing your arm reassuringly “no! No we didn’t! I was perfectly fine hiding the bump, but no!” You huff “I’m Bradley Bradshaw and all of California has to know my wife’s pregnant!” You imitate him but he just smirks “oh I’m so sorry that everyone needs to know you’re taken and carrying my baby” he says, smugly. “Don’t you smile at me Bradley-” you wag an accusatory finger at him, but he heaves you over his shoulder, and towards the stairs “c’mon, let’s help you blow off some steam” he reasons “y’know it’s possible to get pregnant while pregnant, right?” You ask and he cheers “woohoo! Two for one deal, sounds great!” He says and you can’t help but smile.
Then came your maternity leave, Bradley picked you up in his bronco. You were quick to head outside, and he kinda hated how well you hid the bump. “I’m done.” You huff, settling into the seat beside him “if that bitch from accounting asks me one more time if I want her herbal teas I’m going to knock her teeth out” you complain and Bradley chuckles “well, just me, you and Baby Bradshaw now” he says and you hum in agreement.
But when you approached your street, you rolled straight past your house and straight to the Hard Deck ‘congratulations on your baby’ banners plastered all over “welcome to our baby shower!” Bradley grins as you pull up “is this really necessary? They aren’t even here yet.” You tell him and he shrugs “thought it might take your mind off maternity leave” you smile at him “thanks, Brad”
And at one point in the evening, you sat Natasha and Bob down separately. “Hey Phoenix, can we borrow you?” Brad asked, pulling her away from her conversation “yeah of course guys!” You took a seat at a table and Bradley forced you to elevate your feet against your will. “What’s up?” She asks “how’d you like to be godmother to little Bradshaw?” Her eyes lit up when Bradley asked and she leant over the table to hug the two of you “oh I’d love too!” She announces, excitedly.
Then you head over to Bob, but Phoenix holds Rooster back “they have a special connection, let her do this”. You sit on the stool next to Bob and he offers you some peanuts which you refuse, and you stay sat in silence for a minute. “Bob can I ask you something?” You ask, as he pulls your calves up to rest in his lap “of course, hen” he says, brushing some crumbs off his top “what’s up?” “Well, the job we’re in isn’t an old job” you say and he laughs and agrees “it’s also dangerous” you say, and again - he nods. “So if anything happens to me and Brad, can you be there for little Bradshaw?” His eyes widen and start to swell with tears “will you be our godfather?” You ask and he nods, moving to miss your cheek “of course I will, hen. I’d be honoured.”
Bradley and you had started putting together your hospital bag at the 8 month mark. You were both premature so had a bit of superstition, especially with only being a few weeks off of the 40 mark. You’d placed the bag by the front door, along with a baby carrier in the middle seat of his Bronco.
It was week 38 when you were both putting together the crib beside your bed, two spare bedrooms and still you only wanted your baby beside you. “Okay all done, baby” your husband said “okay. My water broke three minutes ago” you say as calmly as he had, he nods, then whips his head back round “your water broke?” He asks and looks down, and indeed, your water had broken “oh my god your water broke?!” He announced, picking you up bridal style and carrying you out to the bronco, picking the hospital bag up on the way. “Ready to have a baby?” He asks, giddily. “Am I supposed to be?” You ask and he shakes his head with a smile “no”
You were dead silent during birth and it scared the shit out of Bradley. “Do you want an epidural, honey? They’ve offered-” “no.” “Can I get you more ice?” “No.” And he tried everything, even when it was time to push. You held his hand and your mouth was zipped shut. “Is she supposed to be this quiet?” He asked the doctor who just looked at him nonchalantly “it’s normal, all mothers react differently to birth” he said. “I’m a fighter pilot Bradley. I’ve had worse.” You grit. “Breathe baby” he tells you “I think you need to.” You say “stop being dramatic” you say as you push again “honey-” “either shut up or get out.” You tell him and he glues his mouth shut, at least until the baby comes.
Bradley cuts the chord and they hand you your baby, and your eyes widen as you stare at the baby on your chest “welcome to the world Nick Bradshaw” you coo at the baby and Bradley raised his brows “Nick?” He asks, voice cracking “what? Got a problem with that? You and your stupid dick” you grumble and Bradley laughs and shakes his head, kissing your forehead.
“Hey mom, shall we take baby so you can get some rest?” The nurse asked, leaning to take Nick from your arms “excuse me?” You asked, pulling your baby closer. “So you can sleep?” She suggests “I’ve carried him for nine months and now he’s here you’re taking him away?” You ask “well, some mothers like to sleep” “I can sleep when I’m dead.” You deadpan, and she realised that Nick wouldn’t have been pried from your hands even if you were dead, so she left you all alone.
“Taking you away from mommy? Who does she think she is?” You whisper to baby Nick. “Welcome back to the world, Bradshaw.” You say and Bradley can only smile and hold the two of you close.
You’re going to be just fine in this mommy role.

Author’s Note: I was feeling sad so I wrote this to cheer me up! I hope it makes you smile if you read it :)
Pairing: Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw
Summary: You and Rooster have a conversation about soulmates <3
Warnings: none, pure fluff!!
...
“They’re so cute” You stated while watching Maverick flirt with Penny.
“More like disgusting” Rooster joked.
You two were sat at the bar, having drinks and waiting for the rest of the group to get there. You can’t help but watch Penny and Pete flirt. Even after all this time, they still look like teenagers in love.
What you didn’t realize was that as you were admiring them, Bradley was admiring you. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you. The way you looked genuinely happy for the older couple made him smile.
“You’re cute” Bradley said like it was something he had always said to you.
Your head snapped to look at him. You immediately started blushing.
“Wh-what? No I’m not, what are you even talking about.” You laughed, shocked he would say that to you.
“You get so happy watching them, it’s sweet.” He smiled at you
“I can’t describe it, it’s like nothing makes me happier than seeing other people happy. Seeing anyone feel joy is so special. But watching someone I love experience that feeling, nothing compares.” You spoke with a smile on your face. You couldn’t help but glance back at Penny. She looked so care free when Maverick was with her.
No one knows, but that’s how you felt with Rooster. Being with him is like finally getting water after being stranded in a desert. It’s like for the first time in your life, you just feel comfortable with someone. You both didn’t have to say a word to each other to understand what the other was thinking. You just got each other. This is the main reason you would never tell him how you really felt about him. You didn’t wanna ruin anything. Well that and the fact that Rooster was confident, outgoing, and downright hot and he would never feel the same for you.
“Do you think they’re soulmates?” Rooster asked you. He was now watching them as well.
“Yes. If soulmates are real, they are definitely soulmates. They were made for each other.” You say dreamily.
“I think so too. I’ve only ever thought that about three couples in my life” Bradley stated and looked as if he was deep in thought.
“Something on your mind, Bradshaw?” You asked the tall man sitting next to you.
“My parents were definitely soulmates. Soulmates that had their time taken away too soon. Penny and Mav must be soulmates. They keep finding their way back to each other.” his brows were furrowed and he spoke intensely.
You had no idea where this sudden seriousness came from.
“That’s only two, Bradley, I think you forgot how to count!” You laughed, trying to ease the tense mood.
"We’re the third couple.” He never broke eye contact as he said these words.
You were speechless, you didn’t understand what he meant and you definitely didn’t know what to say to that. He started to speak again.
“It’s just, I haven’t had the easiest life. First my dad was taken away from me, then my mom, then the person I thought I could trust the most in this world pulled my papers and derailed my career. I’ve been alone for so much of my life. Then, I met you, the sweetest, funniest, prettiest girl I’ve ever met. You made me feel like I wasn’t alone. I felt like I could open up to you right away, and I hate opening up to people. I’ve been thinking about you and this a lot lately, and darlin’, you’re my soulmate.” Rooster finished speaking and looked at you, relieved he finally got that off his chest.
“You really feel that way about me?” You softly asked, afraid it was all a prank or a dream.
“I’m in love with you, y/n, I’m in love with all of you” He said
You couldn’t form the right words for a response so instead you pulled him in by his shirt and kissed him. He immediately responded and put his hands on your face, holding you even closer. You were both smiling into the kiss. You pulled away and the right words came to your head.
“I’m in love with you too Bradley” You laughed, feeling the pure bliss of this moment.
“Thank you for being my soulmate and for making me genuinely happy.” Rooster said.
“It is entirely my pleasure” You hummed.
You two sat there smiling and giggling with each other, feeling drunk off of this feeling.
“If we both agree that we’re soulmates, then you should probably let me take you home with me tonight darlin’“ Rooster smirked at you, knowing it would make you flustered.
“Bradley Bradshaw!” You smacked his arm, then you both laughed.
“You’re so cute when you’re flustered” He said.
As you two continued whispering about how much you loved each other, and about how Bradshaw couldn’t keep it in his pants, you didn’t notice the older couple now watching you.
“They’re so cute” Penny stated.
“More like disgusting” Maverick joked.

Don’t Need Him
Tumblr media
Summary: Hangman cheated on you, now your being fucked by Bradley
Warnings: Cheater Hangman (sorry I know I know), Smut, p in v, not protected, dirty talk
Pairing: Rooster x f!Reader
To be completely fair, he cheated on you and now you two were completely over. So, you have every right to be sat on Bradley Bradshaw’s dick in his dorm room.
You knew, of course you knew, but you were naive. Hangman was a player, and everyone knew that, but you never expected him to cheat on you. But now feeling your back against the cool wall and your hot legs entangled around Bradley’s back, you were happy he cheated.
You found him when you came home early from a shift at the Hard Deck, Penny claimed she could close today so you were relived and didn’t waste a minute to go home. But of course, it all made sense why he wasn’t there, because he was in your bed with a blonde girl you had seen around and the two were naked and panting under the sheets.
After you ran out and went back to the bar before it closed to get a drink.
You walked in and went straight through the crowd of people to the bar taking a seat and grabbing Penny’s attention, and also the attention of one of Hangman’s fellow Top Gun graduating class, Rooster. Penny approached where you sat at the bar and slung a damp rag over her shoulder resting one hand on the bar. “Decide you wanted to work a little more,” she smiled. “I need a shot of whiskey, he cheated on me,” Penny’s smile instantly dropped, “Coming right up,” she walked away and to the bottles grabbing one filled with brown liquid along with a shot glass coming back and setting the two in front of you and pouring the liquid into the clear glass.
The rest is history, you had a couple shots when Rooster came up and sat beside you and with hesitation asked you about the situation before drunkenly confessing his crush on you throughout the whole time you were dating Hangman.
Then the two of you left together and he snuck you in his room, and now here you were.
One of his hands were resting on your back holding it from the wall and his other hand rested on your waist as your legs were wrapped around him tightly. He was plowing into you directly after he fingered you allowing you to come once before he started to fuck you. Thats when your phone started ringing. “Just- ignore it--fuck,” Rooster looked away from you and directed his gaze to wear your phone sat on his dresser the caller Id reading Hangman <3. Your eyes were shut as your hands gripped into his back scratching and wanting him as close to you as possible. He turned back and kissed your lips before placing his other hand on you back holding you against him fully and moving the two of you towards the dresser.
“Hold on okay babe,” he let one hand go from your hot back and reached for the phone. “No Rooster what are you doing?”
“Don’t worry pretty girl,” he smiled at you and swiped answer on your phone putting the phone on speaker. “Sorry bud, she’s a bit busy right now,” he spoke his voice breathy as he started rutting back into you again moving to kiss the inside of your neck for just a moment. You bit your lip trying to conceal any moans. “What who is that- is this-- Rooster? Let me talk to her what is she doing?” he spoke frantically over the phone.
“Don’t do that shit let him hear you,” he commanded hitting the perfect spot inside of you and causing you to let out a large moan. “Rooster I’m going to fucking kill you,” he was screaming now, “Thanks for fucking up hangman,” and then rooster pressed the red hand up button and placed your phone back on his dresses and moving his hand back to your back walking both of you over to his bed and laying you down kissing your lips, jaw, and neck. His breathe hot against your neck as he spoke, “Been waiting to taste you, he never deserved you,” his deep voice was intoxicating and what made it even better was now a free hand was sliding down your body and his thumb found your clit moving in fast circles causing your body to tense and your cunt squeeze him in.
“Fuck sweetheart, he’s not been fucking you right,” he looked up at you as he looked deep into your watery eyes as they began to shut, mouth agape and moans slipping out like a prayer. It was all a mix of “Rooster” “Fuck” and other profanities, music to his ears.
He knew the crew was out at the bar and for that he was forever grateful. Even though he wouldn’t mind everyone knowing how she was his now.
“I’ll treat you right pretty girl,” he kissed her hard, passionate a moan slipping from them both at the feeling of her squeeze his dick.
You separated from the kiss and spoke breathily, “Rooster I’m so close,”
“Let’s get you taken care of then sweetheart,” and he did, moving his finger slightly faster on your puffy clit and sucking on the sweet part of your neck, causing you to come with a yelp, knowing there would be a bruise in the morning and a squeeze to his dick, “Fuck, this pussy-” he groaned driving into you three more times before he came with a moan picking you up and turning you over on top of him wrapping his warm arms around you and holding you there as he kissed your forehead.
“He never deserved you,”

Rooster’s POV
Rooster hadn’t slept for more than an hour. When he finally did fall asleep around 4am, all he did was dream of you. By the time he woke, he had resolved that today, he would tell you everything. There was the possibility of losing you, sure. But even that was better than watching a cheating pig like Adrian use you over and over again. He got dressed into his running clothes so he could at least jog to your house to plan what he was going to say. As he stepped outside, locked his door, and began running, the intrusive thoughts returned.
There was no easy way to tell you that the man you’d loved for so long couldn’t care less about your feelings. The man you’d given so much, and from whom you’d received nothing in return. The man who broke your heart over and over again while Rooster picked up the pieces and put you back together. His brain was so full of thoughts and anxiety, he hadn’t even realized he was at your door.
Reader’s POV
As soon as you open your front door, Rooster envelopes you in one of his famous Bradshaw hugs. The moment his arms are around you, something inside you snaps and the dam breaks. You start sobbing, and Rooster picks you up and carries you to the kitchen. He sets you on the counter, staring at you.
“Are you- Do I smell biscuits and gravy?”
You laugh through your tears, “I made it for Adrian since it’s our anniversary but he won’t be home for breakfast. I was going to bring it to work for you.”
Rooster shakes his head, laughing with you, “you’re the best. And I will eat it later if you still want me to. But right now, I have to talk to you before I chicken out.”
He stands in front of you, taking your hands in his. “What I’m about to tell you is a big deal. If you never want to see me again because I’m the one telling you, I’m okay with that. I just couldn’t forgive myself if I let this go on any longer.”
You watch him cautiously, cocking an eyebrow, “Bradley, you’re freaking me out.”
He takes a deep breath and lets out in one breath, “Adrian is cheating on you.”
“He’s what?” You let out a nervous laugh, unsure of how else to react, “what are you talking about?”
“Like eight months ago, remember when you had pneumonia and you wouldn’t let anyone come over because you didn’t want them to get sick? You were upset because Adrian said he was working or some shit and he wouldn’t bring you soup. Well, he wasn’t sick. He was at the Hard Deck.”
Your heart sinks like it did earlier when you received Adrian’s text, “why would he lie to me about that? He could have just told me.”
“He lied because he didn’t want you to know he was there. He was there with another woman. I caught them fucking in the bathroom. He saw me and told me that you’d never believe me. And if you did, you would never trust me again because I ruined your relationship.”
You sit in silence for a few minutes, staring at your shoes and avoiding your best friend’s gaze. After a few minutes, he speaks up again.
“Do you want me to leave?”
“No.”
“Do you want to stay here?”
“Where else am I gonna go, Roo?” You finally make eye contact with him, his eyes pleading with yours.
“You can stay with me. I’ll help you move your stuff, we can carpool to work, it’ll be great.”
You feel warmth in your cheeks, but your smile falters almost immediately, “Why would he do this to me? Do I deserve this?”
Bradley wraps you in his arms again, kissing your forehead like he always does, “of course not, sweet girl. You only deserve happiness. He did this because he is spineless, and he doesn’t understand how wonderful you are. You are sunshine. When you walk in the room, everyone smiles. Adrian is selfish. You deserve someone who will take care of you.” Someone like me, his inner voice chimes in.
You take a deep breath to steel your nerves, “we should get ready for work.”
“I already called Mav and explained everything. We’re off the hook for today. He told me to take care of you. So, what do you want to do?”
“I think I need to leave him, Roo. I’m so tired. All this time he’s just been tolerating everything I do for him. I can’t do this anymore. This is the end.”
He squeezes you tightly one last time, “I’m gonna call a moving truck and have them come meet us here while we start packing your stuff. You’re gonna stay with me. It’s gonna be great.” Rooster picks up his phone and heads into the other room, making arrangements. You slowly slide off the counter and walk around the home you shared with the man you thought would be your endgame. You run your fingers along the walls, looking at the photos you’ve taken together. With Rooster’s bombshell, you’re noticing new details. How Adrian’s smile never really reached his eyes. How, on the few times he put his arm around you, it was possessive, like he was holding you in place. On the other end of the spectrum, there were photos where you were leaning on him, and he wasn’t returning the affection at all. He was simply supporting your weight.
When you reach your bedroom, you grab your suitcase set from under your bed. It was a gift from Adrian for your one-year anniversary when you’d made plans to go to Cabo together. A trip that had never happened because he’d “had to work.” Now, you wondered how many times he’d used that excuse on the phone with you with another woman’s tongue down his throat.
You went to your closet and started mindlessly packing your clothes into your suitcase, dissociating from the activity. Every so often, you find a t-shirt or hoodie of Adrian’s in the mix of your stuff, and you carefully fold it and put it on his side of the bed. You know with every fiber of your being that if you allowed any part of Adrian to slip through the cracks, you would forgive everything he had put you through.
You don’t know how long it’s been when Rooster puts a hand on your shoulder, making you jump.
“Sorry! I just wanted to tell you movers will be here soon. They’ll bring boxes for everything and pack it really carefully and bring it to my house. When we finish packing your clothes, we can get lunch and drive to my- our house.” He gives you a sweet smile before helping you continue to pack. When you fill up your largest suitcase, you move onto your smaller suitcases and pack your lighter clothes and accessories in them. Periodically, Rooster will hold up an article of your clothing and ask if you think he can pull it off, earning a small smile from you. Otherwise, you work in silence, both of you unable to fill the void that you feel in your heart. Eventually, the movers arrive and Rooster lets them in and explains the situation, then returns to finish helping you.
—------
Rooster’s POV
He’s helping you pack your last few items, when suddenly you speak up.
“Roo… Why are you helping me?”
Because I love you! His inner monologue screams. He bites his lip, continuing to fold your clothes.
“Because you’re my best friend. I care about you. Because I should have told you sooner. And… because it’s what my dad would’ve done.”
“Oh… Well why did you think I wouldn’t forgive you for telling me?”
Rooster takes a deep breath, putting your last pair of pants in your suitcase. “Adrian… He got in my head. He told me that if I told you what was going on, you would blame me for your relationship ending.”
You bite your lip, letting a nervous laugh slip out as you look around the bedroom which was now devoid of your belongings.
“Bradley… You realize that’s silly, right? He’s the reason the relationship is ending. He cheated. He just can’t handle taking the blame for something for once in his fucking life. He knows you’re too good to not tell me, so he manipulated you. That’s what he-” The sound of a car door closing cuts you off, and you look at your best friend with wide eyes.
“It’s okay, we have all of your stuff and the movers are gonna finish up. We can go. You don’t have to say anything to him.” He takes all of your suitcases in his hands with ease, and you follow him to the staircase.
“Baby? Are you here?” You hear your now-ex call from the foyer.
You shrink behind Bradley as you round the corner and begin your trek down the stairs.
“Y/N? What’s going on?”
“I-” Bradley shakes his head, turning slightly to give you a look.
“What the fuck does it look like, Adrian? She’s leaving you. You fucked up for the last time.”
Adrian scoffs, sending shivers up your spine, “yeah? And I suppose you’re gonna take care of her, big man? She’ll never forgive you. You did this.”
Bradley starts to say something, but you dodge around him and come face-to-face with the man you once loved.
“He didn’t do shit, Adrian. He didn’t cheat on me. He didn’t abandon me when I needed him most. He didn’t laugh at me with his friends. He didn’t ditch me on anniversaries, birthdays, when I was sick, just to fuck someone else. Bradley is the only one in this house who cares about me. The only thing he did was spare me from thinking you were my forever. Fuck you, and fuck everything I ever let you put me through.” Holding back tears, you pull out your favorite photo of the two of you, from your very first date at the Santa Monica Pier. You rip it into pieces while maintaining eye contact with him, then drop it to the floor.
You walk out of your house and hop in the passenger’s seat of Rooster’s car, and the dam breaks. Every emotion you’ve felt today comes pouring out, and you start sobbing. The loss of everything you thought you had comes crashing down, and you struggle to breathe between your sobs. You hear Bradley close the tailgate after loading your stuff, but your body won’t let the tears stop. He opens his door and when he sees your current state, his face falls.
—----------------
Rooster’s POV
“It’s okay, sweet girl. He can’t hurt you anymore. He can’t touch you. I won’t let him get near you ever again.” He continues whispering sweet nothings against your hair until he’s sure you’ve stopped crying. He drives you to his house with a determination you’ve never seen before and gets there in record time.
He steps out of the car and comes around to let you out, scooping you up in his arms and carrying you inside. He takes you up the stairs and sets you in his large master bathroom. He scuttles around, grabbing various bath products and towels, then turns on his bathtub faucet.
“Take a bath, take some deep breaths. I’ll get your clothes and some pajamas. Do you want to sleep in the guest room or my bedroom? I can sleep in the guest room if you want my bed, it’s more comfortable honestly.”
He can see the gears turning in your head as you weigh your options, then meets your gaze when your head moves up to look at him. “Can I sleep in your bed with you? I just want to cuddle… It’s okay if not I don’t want to bother you, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable I just don’t want to be alone and you’re my best friend-”
He cuts you off with a hug, and all he can think is that he’s screwed. Completely, totally screwed.
—-------------
Reader’s POV
Bradley’s quiet for a moment as he holds you, and all you can think is that you should have never overstepped. You know immediately you fucked up by asking him that, and nothing would ever be the same again.
He steps back with his hands on your shoulders, looking you directly in the eye again, “of course you can. It won’t bother me, it won’t make me uncomfortable. I know you need affection, and I’m your best friend. I’ll always be here for you. Now, I’m gonna go get your stuff, I’ll leave you some pajamas outside the door. Take your time and just breathe.”
You nod and thank him before stripping and slowly sinking into the tub, almost moaning at how surreal the water feels on your skin. Your mind wanders to when you were living with Adrian and how he never wanted you to take baths because it was time spent away from him. You couldn’t go out with friends, you couldn’t go on walks without him suspecting something was going on. He truly did trap you into thinking you were safe with him.
You shake off the thoughts of your ex and sink deeper into the water, letting your mind roam to thoughts of your best friend. He had done so much for you, and you had no idea how you would ever repay him. You’d had feelings for him years ago, and having him take care of you now was making those feelings resurface. It had been so long since someone had genuinely cared about you, listened to you, or made you feel appreciated. And here Bradley was, doing all those things like he always did. Ever since you had started dating Adrian, you could see that Bradley was concerned. You’d thought it was just a friendly kind of concern, but now you suspected it was more than that. Could this be the catalyst you needed to finally be with someone who showed you he cared about you every day? Could you confess your feelings without Bradley thinking it was an impulsive decision based on your current situation?
As you wash up and finish your bath, you resolve to tell Bradley in the morning when you were clear headed. Tonight, you would just bask in the affection and the knowledge that despite Adrian’s best efforts, you did have someone in your life that cherished you. And that was what mattered.
You get up and dry off, then turn to see your pajamas on the counter, along with a pair of underwear. Your eyes widen, embarrassed that he went through your underwear, until you realize that if the clothes are in the bathroom, that means he saw you in the bathtub. You blush at the thought of him seeing you naked but regretting you didn’t get to see his face. Did he linger to watch you? To appreciate you? You shake off the intrusive thoughts and get dressed before leaving the bathroom to see Bradley laying in his bed in shorts with no shirt. He extends his arms to invite you in, and you don’t waste a moment climbing into bed and snuggling up to him. He rolls the both of you onto your sides, still holding you close.
“Is this okay?” He asks softly into your hair, and you feel him start to stroke your arm.
“It’s perfect,” you mumble back, his touch lulling you into the first peaceful sleep you’ve had in months.
