Kali Uchis Red Moon in Venus pt. II tour. Oakland, CA. Oracle Arena.
My first-time seeing Kali Uchis perform live. Best way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month AND Libra season in my personal opinion... I've been a fan for roughly 5 years. I stumbled upon her music listening to Spotify's Janelle Monae radio.
Something about her sound reminded me of Amy Winehouse and Selena blended with retro [Latin] Hip-Hop, Soul, and R&B. I honestly think that's why I like her in the first place. It's new yet nostalgic. It's her influences, aesthetics, and spirit that makes Kali Uchis' music stand out.
Listening to her music also gives me a chance to practice my Spanish. (Though, if you're familiar with her music, her lyrics may be NSFA (not safe for abuela. 🙉🤭) I love singing along to 'telepatía.' Her song 'Loner' I most resonate with. Story of my goat-dam-love-life.
Red Moon in Venus is also the first album of hers I own. All the tracks are great. I have a hard time choosing. From the queen-size shady jab to a jealous ex synth-funk, 'Hasta Cuando,' to the sweetly seductive, disco-soul love song of "Endlessly"... I can't! I can't choose.
More images on the way. Also, sorry in advance for later posts because she bent over a lot in that baby doll dress. 🫣
that's hard to answer 😩 every single one of her live performances hits different and feels so unique and out of this world so i really can't choose one.
i can say tho that her performances for telepatía are one of my favs bc that song will forever hold a special place in my heart 💘
