Rewatched Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, and got stuck on the same thing that bothers me every time I read or watch that arc: Why is Rin's flare-up during his fight with Ryuji considered such a big deal?

Yes, he used his powers. Yes, he revealed them in front of a large group of people.

But he hadn't been banned from doing either of those things.

He wasn't out of control. (All things considered, he was actually pretty calm.) He wasn't actually using his flames to hurt anyone. He wasn't even really doing anything wrong. (Aside from maybe sticking his nose in where it wasn't invited, but last I checked, that wasn't illegal.)

(Literally just a little while earlier, we saw Mamushi and Jinzo using their own abilities in what was essentially a trivial spat over nonsense, so it's not like such things aren't unheard of. The only reason this was even an issue was because Rin was using Satan's powers.)

Like, I get why Shura wanted to get him out of that situation before it escalated (especially considering what happened the last time people in that temple saw blue flames). But that wasn't really Rin's fault.

Excited about Blue Exorcist coming back? it looks like a really interesting show

Ah, yes, yes! Actually this blog was originally dedicated to Blue Exorcist heck, the blog's name and as you see - as soon as it returned my brainrot became unstoppable 🤣

I really recommend it, especially the manga. It's a rare case for shounen when you have more than two plot relevant characters, when the female charas are independent and represent different types of strength, when the team's chemistry feels realistic and entertaining to watch. Also the romance is really nice and well written! Bless Katou-sensei! Started reading her work when I was like- 14 yo and she never disappointed my expectations.

As you see, so far I really enjoy the anime adaptation by Studio Voln. They're doing great!

Unlined Summer Kimono

A pond with carp and water lilies adorns the lower part of this kimono, and morning glories bloom at the shoulders. This early summer scene is resist dyed and painted on a blue-and-white ground of high-quality silk gauze (ro), subtly patterned in the weave with goldfish in water. The donor’s grandmother, one of four generations of female textile artists, wore this summer kimono during her thirteenth year, around 1876, for her jūsan-mairi (literally, “thirteenth temple visit”) to Arashiyama Hōrinji, a temple in Saga, Kyoto, to receive blessings as she entered adolescence. The kimono has three family crests: one on the center of the back and one on each sleeve.
