My fic in Sims 4 ... (part 2)
Tumblr media
This is kind of hilarious tbh - they really look like they're at a union assembly xD
(Sorry again about possible uncanny valley effects haha!! And sorry in general lmao)
I recreated OT5 and several of the locations in WBSMF in Sims 4 ...
Part 2 - The subterranean WSU union office:
Tumblr media
Overview - I faked the semi-basement by adding rooms with artificial light outside the windows. :3
Tumblr media
The entrance, with very improvised signs ^^; But there IS a picture of a cat!!!
Tumblr media
The big room with a big movie screen where the projecting surface would be (and Liam still with his umbrella open)
Tumblr media
Larry sitting together :3 In the fic, at Harry's first general assembly, Louis was sitting on one of those benches in the second row, behind some other people, so Harry didn't notice him until he came to introduce himself. :3
Tumblr media
Overview of the big assembly room. There's a donation based 'book store' in that box next to the stairs, with books donated to the union library that the library working group didn't want to keep.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the library
Tumblr media
There aren't a lot of political posters available for Sims 4 (though maybe there's custom content that I haven't found yet? ^^), so I had to compensate with music posters, gay posters and art ♥ (for an actually LGBT inclusive union ♥) and all kinds of random posters and art.
Tumblr media
The library also houses the drink fridge, the food fridge, and the coffee maker.
Tumblr media
Harry cleaning the coffee maker. The piggy bank is a donation box for the drinks they 'sell'.
Tumblr media
Louis comes to chat. That scout info board or something is a stand-in for a flip chart ...
Tumblr media
Overview of one end
Tumblr media
The cat calendar ♥
Tumblr media
The other end
Tumblr media
The kitchen nook off the office room
Tumblr media
Louis is surprised that it's so unusually clean!
Tumblr media
The office room with the back door, and the shelves that Larry put up together ♥
Tumblr media
In that little storage nook there should be drink crates, but I haven't found that for Sims, so it's just random boxes here.
Tumblr media
The pizza boxes are a very authentic touch :3
Tumblr media
Some NPCs joined the assembly ... Apparently Zayn is chair ^^
Tumblr media
Louis stealing glances at that fascinating new member ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Harry stealing glances at that fascinating guy ^^
Tumblr media
Harry goes to a meeting in the library
Tumblr media
Harry tries to act cool when Louis sits down right next to him ...
Tumblr media
Harry doing important union stuff in the union office
Tumblr media
Louis too!
Tumblr media
Chatting in the back of the office
Tumblr media
(To be continued ...)

Leo scurries back to campus, texting Larry on the way to let him know he’s nearly there. He gets occasional responses, only small ones, worrying him even more.
He jogs to the statue at the centre of campus, looking all around for Larry. He doesn’t see him yet, but he does spy a Bot Savants competition. Rather than his heart sinking this time, it instead soars but feels heavy as looks around. Larry has asked them to meet at the Bot Savants competition because he knows that it would interest Leo. That makes him feel even more guilty at not seeing him recently.
Larry: “There’s my mysterious stranger.”
My. Leo flinches and blushes as Larry refers to him as his. They have shared their first kiss, but haven’t arranged their first date yet. Is this what this is meant to be?
Leo: “Larry! I’ve missed you! It’s so good to see you. How are you?”
Larry’s smile falters slightly. Oh Sim Gods. This sinking feeling is getting worse.
Larry: “Thought you’d find the Bot Savants competition fun. Have you got anything you could enter?”
Leo: “Oh...sure! I have my cleaning bot!”

Welcome to National Poetry Month!
The Academy of American Poets, inspired by the success of Black History Month and Women’s History Month, created National Poetry Month in 1996. It is the largest literary celebration in the world and UCF Libraries are proud to do their part.
UCF Libraries have gathered suggestions to feature 12 books of poetry that are currently in the UCF collection. These works represent the wide range of favorite poetry books of our faculty and staff.
Since we are in strange times and realize that access to the physical books chosen by the Libraries is extremely limited at the moment, we have also crafted a list of digital poetry works that can be read from the comfort of your home: Poetry reading digital edition.
Click on the Keep Reading link below to see the full descriptions and catalog links.
Anarcha Speaks: a history in poems by Dominique Christina; selected and with a foreword by Tyehimba Jess In this provocative collection by award-winning poet and artist Dominique Christina, the historical life of Anarcha is personally reenvisioned. Anarcha was an enslaved Black woman who endured experimentation and torture at the hands of Dr. Marion Sims, more commonly known as the father of modern gynecology. Christina enables Anarcha to tell her story without being relegated to the margins of history, as a footnote to Dr. Sims's life. These poems are a reckoning, a resurrection, and a proper way to remember Anarcha . . . and grieve her. Suggested by Jacqui Johnson, Cataloging
Edgar Allan Poe: selected poetry and tales edited by James M. Hutchisson Edgar Allan Poe’s stories and poems are among the most haunting and indelible in American literature, but critics for decades persisted in seeing Poe as an anomaly, or even an anachronism. Critics realize now that Poe was even more a part of the contemporary American literary scene than many of his more “nationalistic” peers, and that in much of his work Poe was making commentaries on slavery and Southern social attitudes, technology, the urban landscape, political economy, and other subjects. Suggested by Sandy Avila, Research & Information Services
Fear of Description by Daniel Poppick These poems tell the story of a generation in crisis: at odds with its own ideals, precariously (or just un-) employed, and absolutely terrified of seeing itself in the planet's future. Is our contemporary moment pure tragedy, or a dark joke? Can it be both? Cutting back and forth in time and ranging between elegiac lyrics and autobiographical accounts of a group of poets moving from Iowa to Brooklyn in the years just before and after the 2016 election, Poppick reinvigorates the prose poem, exploring the slippery terrain between grief and friendship, artifice and technology, writing and ritual, hauntings and obsessions--searching for joy in art but instead finding it in pitch darkness. Suggested by Megan Haught, Teaching & Engagement/Research & Information Services
Homie by Danez Smith Rooted in the loss of one of Smith’s close friends, this book comes out of the search for joy and intimacy within a nation where both can seem scarce and getting scarcer. In poems of rare power and generosity, Smith acknowledges that in a country overrun by violence, xenophobia, and disparity, and in a body defined by race, queerness, and diagnosis, it can be hard to survive, even harder to remember reasons for living. But then the phone lights up, or a shout comes up to the window, and family—blood and chosen—arrives with just the right food and some redemption. Suggested by Sara Duff, Acquisition and Collection Services
Life in a Country Album by Nathalie Handal From migrations to pop culture, loss to la dérive, this is a soundtrack of the global cultural landscape—borders and citizenship, hybrid identities and home, freedom and pleasure. It’s a vast and moving look at the world, at what home means, and the ways we coexist in an increasingly divided world. These poems are about the dialects of the heart—those we are incapable of parting from, and those that are largely forgotten. Suggested by Megan Haught, Teaching & Engagement/Research & Information Services
Life on Mars by Tracy K. Smith With allusions to David Bowie and interplanetary travel, Smith imagines a soundtrack for the universe to accompany the discoveries, failures, and oddities of human existence. THese brilliant new poems  envision a sci-fi future sucked clean of any real dangers, contemplates the dark matter that keeps people both close and distant, and revisits the kitschy concepts like "love" and "illness" now relegated to the Museum of Obsolescence. These poems reveal the realities of life lived here, on the ground, where a daughter is imprisoned in the basement by her own father, where celebrities and pop stars walk among us, and where the poet herself loses her father, one of the engineers who worked on the Hubble Space Telescope. Suggested by Claudia Davidson, Downtown Library
Lilith, But Dark by Nichole Perkins Perkins reveals a series of confessions and penances, exploring a southern black woman’s tour through lover’s lament. It explores intimacies from home to the schoolyard to the bedroom. It is a journey through tornado alley, a search for power and peace in the eye of a southern storm. Suggested by Sara Duff, Acquisition and Collection Services
Opened Ground: selected poems, 1966-1996 by Seamus Heaney Born and raised in Northern Ireland, where any hint of Gaelic tradition in one's speech was considered a political act, Heaney is all too aware of the dire consequences of speaking one's mind. Indeed, during times of crisis, he has been expected to appear on television and dispense political wisdom. Most often, however, he stays out of the fray and opts for a supreme sense of empathy to guide his words. As excavator--of earth, of his beloved Gaelic, of his own life--Heaney is unmatched. Suggested by Larry Cooperman, Research & Information Services
Running to Stand Still by Kimberly Reyes Histories, stories, lyrics, aspirations, dreams, pressures, and images are spun into a musical tale through a site of convergence: the Black female body. Swarmed by external gazes and narratives, the inhabitant of this body uses her power to turn down this cacophony of noise and compose a symphonic space for herself. By breaching boundaries of racism, sexism, sizeism, colorism, and colonialism, these poems investigate the memories and realities of existing as Black in America. Building from poetic, journalistic, and musical histories, poet and essayist Kimberly Reyes constructs a complex and fantastic narrative in which she negotiates a path to claim her own power. Suggested by Megan Haught, Teaching & Engagement/Research & Information Services
The 100 Best Poems of All Time edited by Leslie Pockell This poetry companion puts favorite poetry and poets from around the world at your fingertips, enabling you to revisit the classics, encounter unfamiliar masterworks and rediscover old favorites. Suggested by Sandy Avila, Research & Information Services
The Octopus Museum by Brenda Shaughnessy This collection of bold and scathingly beautiful feminist poems imagines what comes after our current age of environmental destruction, racism, sexism, and divisive politics. Suggested by Sara Duff, Acquisition and Collection Services
The Undefeated by Kwame Alexander This poem is a love letter to black life in the United States. It highlights the unspeakable trauma of slavery, the faith and fire of the civil rights movement, and the grit, passion, and perseverance of some of the world's greatest heroes. The text is also peppered with references to the words of Martin Luther King, Jr., Langston Hughes, Gwendolyn Brooks, and others, offering deeper insights into the accomplishments of the past, while bringing attention to the endurance and spirit of those surviving and thriving in the present. Suggested by Emma Gisclair, Curriculum Materials Center

Yet More AA Sims, Still No Consistent Title Pattern
Tumblr media
Larry decides to take up some gardening... in his underwear. Because of course he does.
Tumblr media
Since Phoenix only made enough weird breakfast salad for himself, Miles takes it upon himself to make some pancakes.
Tumblr media
Apparently this is a thing, so yep, Phoenix is cleaning the toilet.
Tumblr media
Back to Maya’s positivity mission, she goes to the park to meet some new people. Her first encounter is with this extremely smelly and apparently evil woman. Maybe let’s find someone else to hang out with.
Tumblr media
Ok here’s a better new friend, a cool pink-haired teen. Although Eloise and her stink cloud are still looming.
Tumblr media
WELL THAT HAPPENED BIZARRELY FAST (funny note, while I did change her into different winterwear, what’s considered ‘warm’ is just whatever you put as a cold weather outfit, and one of the ones I have for her is just the same outfit in blue, so she could’ve changed into the same clothes in a different color and had that count as being warmer somehow.)
Tumblr media
A whole bunch more teens show up suddenly (Maya is the one in the pom-pom hat)
Tumblr media
...and then immediately proceed to leave before Maya can introduce herself, taking her new pink-haired friend with them
Tumblr media
Luckily she catches up in time to tell a funny story, which counts as a good deed towards her challenge.
Tumblr media
Then a wave of kids show up, and Maya decides to take on the role of the sea monster in their playground adventure.

How Janet Jackson Got Her High-Drama Beauty Look for the Alexander McQueen Show

How Janet Jackson Got Her High-Drama Beauty Look for the Alexander McQueen Show
Tumblr media
What’s the best way to get ready for a front row seat at Alexander McQueen? With a beauty look that’s as dramatic as the house’s iconic silhouettes. For Janet Jackson and her glam squad, that dictate translated to a high-impact updo and makeup designed to demand a second look.
“Today’s look on Janet was all about the eyes for me,” says makeup artist Preston Meneses, who created an exaggerated smoky eye with saturated washes of neutrals, grays, and onyx. To up the uncanny factor, Meneses obscured Jackson’s brows with a faux bleached effect, a move that served to accentuate the graphic lids. “I kept the rest of her face clean and neutral so this look would be all about her sultry eyes,” says Meneses—though in this case, neutral translates to flawless and contoured.
Photo: Joey Harris
To further the glamorous feel, hairstylist Larry Sims opted for a tri-textured updo centering braids and brushed-up spirals. “All face in the front and drama in the back was the goal,” says Sims, who sculpted Jackson’s edges with the help of Flawless By Gabrielle Union Repairing Edge Control. A tautly braided crown led to a plait-wrapped ponytail, the updo moving from sleek and stylized to a voluminous explosion of curls that cascaded down the pop star’s back.

We come to Wednesday in The Chill Save with Smiler Always, and Smiler had themselves a busy day, both on and off campus! After coming home from work and finishing their Mixology homework, they spent a bit of time watching TV (the “Moonlight Massacre III” movie, which they found so unengaging they got up and got the clay lump to play with halfway through) before gathering the latest from their garden. Including from their Sixam Mosquito Trap plant, which I never really noticed was animated before? It genuinely has little bugs fluttering around it all the time, which it will periodically chomp. I dunno, I just thought it was kinda cool. :)
Anyway, freshly showered and with household chores taken care of, it was time to head back to Larry’s Lagoon! After a brief interlude to use some of their powers and earn that precious vampire XP, Smiler promptly went up to the robotics lab to finish off work on their computer chip (avoiding getting zapped this time) and to start on a Chatter Bot! This lasted until I finally didn’t catch them trying to go downstairs to play basketball in time (I thought they had FIXED the bug of Sims being obsessed with the basketball hoop?) -- which ended up being fairly close to their first class time, so I decided they might as well hang around the class building instead.
Which led to me noticing that the campus statue had gotten pranked! Well, Smiler did go and knit the Britechester Book a sweater, so I guess it only stands to reason the Britechester students would TP the Foxbury Spiky Thing in return. :P Smiler went and cleaned up the statue, earning the praise of one passing Shingo. Smiler, pleased, promptly went in for a hug --
And was REJECTED! Apparently Shingo, being an Unflirty Sim, automatically assumed that was a flirty action? Granted, I don’t know what KIND of hug Smiler was going for, but it looked like the bog-standard “Friendly” one. . . Embarrassed, Smiler ended up casting Hallucination on them --
And then going to class. Shingo ended up standing out there the entire hour and a half Smiler was learning about psychology, chatting to thin air, because apparently this effect does not wear off on its own. XD Smiler dispelled the effect once they emerged from their studies and apologized by the way of a funny story, but I don’t think Shingo was impressed. XD Can’t win ‘em all, Smiler! This is why you need to use your Personality Detection more often.
