Got a tiny Aubrey Beardsley book at flea market last weekend. Leather bound with cardboard case, illustrated, German edition. I have another one of these (a tiny artbook published in Poland), photos for size ref. I associate book miniatures mostly with funny/ smutty stories or pictures (I like how it makes them a dirty little secret you can keep in your pocket heh) or poems, but haven't seen such stuff in bookstores in forever. Both are from the '80s, I wonder is there a market for such publications nowadays? Do people still buy tiny books??

Also I know fanfiction book binding is A Thing, but somehow I only ever saw big projects that get this treatment? When this is a perfect size to make your flash fic/ one-shot a miniature book (threw an illust or two in there for good measure) and let it burn a hole in your or somebody's else pocket. Maybe I should consider doing miniatures' binding as commissions, damn. I only ever did simple notebooks for friends, but it looks fun and I have all the tools... Also I really want to make a cute tiny zine now...

So here's my thesis. More specifically the trailer that played in one of the rooms in the art gallery kind of building in our city (dunno what to call it in English) where we were defending our thesis, as well as most of the slides in the slideshow I used during my Big Talk.

My project was a website about monsters from Slavic mythology - based on books about the subject ("Bestiariusz Słowiański, część pierwsza i druga" by Paweł Zych and Witold Vargas, and "Księga Smoków Polskich" by Bartłomiej Grzegorz Sala, Paweł Zych and Witold Vargas) - with an interactive map, an index with three ways of categorizing the monsters (name, habitat, or region), a quiz game, a customizable profile, and most importantly articles about the monsters. The general aesthetics of the website were inspired by medieval manuscripts. There's a lot I would change about it now, a lot I wanted to do then but didn't have time for or simply couldn't do with the somewhat limited options. Figma is a cool program but doing a web design thesis with the free version of it clearly showed me its limitations.

height: tentative height is almost 6 ft, but i’m thinking of reducing it to 5ft 2in or 5ft 3in. the only note i have is “i want them to be taller than tuss” and tuss is 4ft 8in, so…

fond of quill too, but quill is louder/more out going than tuss, so maybe sometimes avoids them;;

…learned some reading/writing specifically to communicate with tuss more. now they can send unintentionally suspicious looking notes to anyone!

while they certainly make sounds, they can’t speak.

if trying to befriend, it’s better to let them approach you. if you move more quick for even a moment they’ll run away.
