Which members promotions were your favorite so far? Hobi might win for me because that listening party was super fun and Lollapalooza was crazy. Also More sits at the same table as SMFpt2 for me as far as being really shocking and exciting when it dropped!
***
Hi Anon!
Nothing beats Yoongi’s D-DAY tour for me. My god what an experience. I was fortunate to attend multiple stops and I still have fever dreams in the middle of the day remembering how hard I was screaming along to Burn It and Huh, how my friend burst into tears during Snooze, how I choked up a bit during Life Goes On and finally lost it on The Last. The encore tours gave me the emotional equivalent of a blood transfusion. Seeing Jimin, Namjoon, and Jungkook on stage in a proper concert setting for the first time in almost a year, was really the best parting gift and I’ll always be grateful to Yoongi for it. I love that man very, very much.
That cute practice session Yoongi did for the ‘I’m so cute’ or whatever challenge with Jimin too, subbing ARMYs with screaming plushies and the live he did reading fan messages teasing us about his seven tattoo… and then that cheeky reveal after the tour ended…
Yoongi gave me everything and more with his album and the tour.
Other members too:
- SeokJin going to Argentina to promote The Astronaut with Coldplay was incredible. The planning and organizing behind that feat couldn’t have been easy but somehow they made it work and LatAm ARMYs were finally able to see at least one Tannie for the first time in a long while. That really was amazing.
- Taehyung’s Tiny Desk performances are 🤌🏽
- I loved how Jimin really thought outside the box with his promotions, choosing to go on many really fun Korean variety shows. These are shows BTS either hadn’t done ever or in something like 5 years. A lot of my K-ARMY friends loved how Jimin seemed to prioritize them fully in ways that hadn’t been done for a while.
- I tried hard to attend Joon’s small concert but work commitments didn’t allow that possibility, but I also really love his promotion choices. My partner (surprisingly) has become a tiny bit obsessed with Joon’s Tiny Desk performance lol, so I suspect Joon has gained a new fan.
- Think I’ve already talked about how Hobipalooza was the concert highlight of 2022 for me. Hobi had such a short time to put everything together, and I’m proud of him for going out of his comfort zone a bit sending out invites and throwing the launch party. I loved seeing him just celebrate his success, seeing the other members chill out and have a good time.
- It was nice seeing that at least one member did not forget Europe exists with their promotions (😭), so I’m glad Jungkook could make the trip over to promote Seven in the UK.
The rapline’s album projects are easily some of the best releases this year in any genre for me. And I’m not even trying to be biased. Corroborated by critics reviews, each album is a solid, cohesive, and cerebrally stimulating piece of art and I’m so proud of them for putting it together. It’s easy to see how BTS has become the biggest band in the world when you have these three men who can stand as respected artists in their own right, being the bedrock of the music created by BTS for the last 10 years.
Jimin’s debut with FACE ended k-pop in 2023. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but the industry as we know it, life as we know it, Jimin as we knew him, ended in March 2023. What Jimin did with Set Me Free Pt 2 still gives me goosebumps when I think about it. That song was a warning shot, a small mercy to the industry to warn them in advance of who Jimin is prepared to become as a solo artist and as Jimin of BTS, and I cannot overstate how excited I am for his next project. FACE as an album is the complete package. His songs are just good. Like, actually good. Good enough to play anywhere and any time. That’s the kind of music Jimin makes. Imagine hearing Face-off in a concert arena… imagine hearing the intro play before he comes on stage. Can you even imagine….
Lol I’m starting to hurt myself with these imagines.
Taehyung’s album too is very good (though these days it only gets plays from me in the evenings). And while Seven isn’t my favorite release, it’s still a well made song that Jungkook of course has done a phenomenal job with. Twice now he’s had to promote it outdoors in very bad weather and he’s kept his vocals stable and well projected. He’s working hard and I’m hoping it translates well into work done for his solo album debut later this year.
I have almost no complaints in the debut solo showcases from all the members, in their promotion styles, and in the overall presentation. These albums were all very decent and respectable first showings from the members of the biggest group in the world. The response from the general public and professional critics has been very favourable, and the fandom has supported each member to be as successful as one would expect for anyone from BTS.
I’m a very happy ARMY in Chapter 2 ^_^

Cartier

-The power of language (Allure Magazine)
In 2019, it was sold out 3 days after V was spotted holding this book at the airport, surprising the publishing industry. Since then, the book has released a purple edition with a purple font and band, the color that symbolizes BTS. It was also very popular in Japan across the sea, and V's popularity was realized by ranking high in popularity and sales rankings on online sites such as Amazon Japan and Rakuten.

-Peruvian TV
Canal N, a news TV channel from Perú, shared a note about 'Le Jazz de V'!
The TV host talked about his voice, his amazing work as an actor, being an ambassador of the most prestigious fashion brands, and how ARMY are excited for his album.
"The artist has a privileged voice and used it to delight the millions of ARMYS these songs are a prelude at the release of what will be his first discographies production as a soloist and promises to be a great success of reproductions in music platforms.
Apart from the music V appeared on television programs like "Jinny's kitchen" and has become the ambassador of the most prestigious fashion brands in the world with a talent in the K-pop industry and very loved by his Latin American fans."
Taehyung is the only BTS member who has a TV note in Perú without share an album yet.
(TRAD: TaehyungPeru)
-Popularity in Japan keeps growing
Taehyung has placed 1st place for 121 consecutive weeks on the Nehan (idol) and 117 consecutive weeks Bihan (actor) polls, as well as 77 consecutive weeks on “K-POP JUICE.”
Also, he was voted #1 in the “The K-POP Male Idol with the Strongest Profile” poll conducted by Japanese media “Danmee.”
-“There is V's hidden contribution in the group's long run.”
Korean career aptitude expert, Kim Jin talked about "the extraordinary ability of BTS V, the most successful idol" on his latest Youtube channel.
Mr. Kim said that Taehyung has the leadership to pursue the happiness of the team and take care of the members.
He states that this is not a typical leadership that encourages and leads people, but a "servant leadership" that serves, respects and cares for others.
"I think BTS is able to continue until today because V has Servant Leadership."
'Servant leadership' is a leadership that shares goals with members, is dedicated to members, promotes member growth, and ultimately achieves organizational performance by forming trust between leaders and members.

Not to generalize everyone but as a Filipino living in another country, I am not surprised that most Filos are Taekookers. Remember, the Philippines is a country where the son of an atrocious dictator was elected as President and impeached govt officials are re-elected into positions in the government. Most don’t really make the best decisions 🙄 pitiful actually but makes my blood boil now because no one should dare go against my Jimin lol
I'm not surprised either, because it seems to be a pattern. Taekookers are everywhere, but some Asian countries seem to have the most. I don't know if it's a matter of simply statistics, more population = more people of every type. Of it is a matter of culture, similar to what you say. I just don't have enough information on the culture in the Philippines or the region as a whole, so I can't fully form an idea but I've definitely noticed a pattern.
There are taekookers here in latam, too. Most shippers are yoonminers tho. Or maybe they're not even shippers but they love Yoongi and Jimin together.
It has honestly been a while since I got angry like today. It's been months, I don't even remember when was the last time that something about the fandom annoyed me like this.
It wasn't even about the video itself, but everyone's takes on it and the once again realization that it's never going to end unless BTS members spend years away from each other. And it's not going to happen, so the idea these people have of Jimin is just going to stay that way. The fandom too refuses to look at the problem in the face and acknowledge it. The first step is always recognizing what's wrong and working on that, but the incapacity or just completely disregard for trying to actually find out the root of it all is another issue in itself. They will never accept and deal with the group of people that are the real problem; saddest thing is that it's not all about not knowing, but most armys are part of that group and of course nobody wants to admit to be bad, or to go against their own kind. Jikookers are extremely stupid too for bringing up Jungkook because c'mon.... The kook in taekook is there for a reason. Several reasons. I mean, read the room???? It's giving "vminkook cuddling right now 🫶" yay thanks, that was really helpful and totally eye opening!
I don't even "fight" but situations like this certainly makes you want to go that extra mile for Jimin, doesn't it? He was never deserving of any of this.

I love Seventeen and think that they are way more talented than bts (as a group) and while I want them to extend their reach even more, I don't want them to become like bts. I especially don't wanna see Carats go crazy over streaming and mass buying and turn into a fandom that harasses anyone that doesn't buy into bts's underdog narrative. This is coming from an ARMY for whom the honeymoon phase lasted for a month before I realised that Hybe pushed them to do Butter mainly to get them that Grammy nod. Seventeen have so much potential and if marketed properly in Europe/LatAm have the power to rival bts. I just don't want to see that go to waste. So, Hybe, keep your dirty hands off my emotional support boys.
i think the main difference between bts and seventeen is that the bottom line of their talent is literally ... miles apart. seventeen, unlike bts, has always been a proper idol group and was formed as a proper idol group. the vocal unit has the most members, the performance unit has idol dancers (chan, minghao and hoshi that unlike many other idol dancers, really are first and foremost hip hop/pop/street dancers), and the hip hop unit has the heaviest focus on songwriting and production with scoups and vernon, and even wonwoo. unlike bts, seventeen was built around the concept of a fully rounded idol group. bts debuted as a rap heavy idol group that later switched to vocal focus but hybe never gave them the resources to support that switch. seventeen, all 13 of them, are some of the best vocalists in the industry, especially seungkwan and dk. seventeen's performance standard is the highest in the industry. bts cannot compare.
anyways, all of that is to say that bts fell off so hard because they lack the distinctive touch that seventeen has. they were never seen as a pop group either - meanwhile, seventeen has always only made pop music. jihoon has such a tight grip on their creative direction that i am pretty sure everything that hybe forces him to do, he does begrudgingly and while trying to maintain the essence of seventeen to his best abilities. is this gonna save us from hybe's marketing techniques? no, it won't. we're already seeing it happening. the amount of (seemingly american/western) co writers they added to face the sun, the lack of actual world tour dates for a heavily america focused world tour, that weird festival, etc. it's all there. on the other hand, i feel like hot is seventeen's try to establish them as less of a fresh/teen group and more of a mature, adult-pop group. they are turning 30 soon and we cannot forget that. i want to grow with them.
and i absolutely agree with you. seventeen should be marketed properly in europe and latin america. they are the heirs to the 2nd gen kpop that was huge in europe 12-10 years ago. i think they are, like .... what shinee was to 2nd gen, seventeen is to their gen/right now. they have a huge market in eu/latam. that's where i wanna see them and that's where i think they should be, besides asia. this is not that hybe wants for them, though, and i think pledis would treat them better in that regard. sigh. they could so easily take the entire world by storm.

POST UR RANT im also sad :((( about the tour dates
Worry not we can cry collectively
Okay so I saw this post go around saying that “we shouldn’t be upset because we didn’t get tour dates and that BTS is doing their best” and so on and yeah, first of all DAMN RIGHT I GOT A RIGHT TO BE UPSET HOW DARE YOU (I’ll explain further why) and honestly I think no one is questioning wether Bangtan is doing their best or not, it’s pretty obvious that this album is just something else.
Anyhow, here is your 20+ y/o Sociology Masters anti-systematic fellow ARMY to spill some tea. Ahem.
I want to start by saying that I absolutely adore what BTS has done over the years, their growth and I do not mean to offend anyone, I am not shading them or BigHit, I am SHAMING the entertainment industry. I think that it’s amazing that BTS is not only empowering youth but is also sharing their newly found power and success over the world with people that share the same values as them, as a form of collectivity (they really make me believe there is still good in the world) but they are well... an idol group that belongs to the entertainment industry and as much as we hate to admit, it all comes down to yeah, numbers (yay capitalism amirite) specially ever since they took over the world so here’s the thing:
They can’t afford to lose the powerful westernised countries that allow them to top those charts that have given them the opportunity to smash down doors and allowed them to pave the way for other K-artists. Strategic cities are key here.
I am not even going to start with Japan/Korea bc I mean- it is pretty obvious.
But here is the scalding tea my dudes, and honestly the only fact that I’m screaming over. What. About. Smaller. Regions. That. Give. Massive. Numbers.? Huhhh? I’m talking South Asia & LATAM (I’ll address Mexico’s case in a bit bc I know about it a whole lot) it’s time to learn some marketing/social concepts. There is this oh so amazing thing called reciprocity, it is usually applied on international terms but it really fits here so yeah, basically you are meant to give just as much as you are given. That’s it. In economic terms, narrowed down to BTS this means: yeah, a large amount of numbers are given by this smaller regions and it is just fair to give something back (I’m talking industry level here okay, I don’t just mean being acknowledge by the guys) even if you zoom it out to a region e.g. if LATAM is on your top 5 of charting, it is just fair to give at least 1 date to some country in the region, this is called being politically correct and man, the numbers it will give you, bc we work collectively, the whole region is going to be ecstastic if one country is taken into account otherwise... the threat of losing numbers for feeling left out is just-something that is worth thinking over once or twice (and same goes for you know, South Asia, Australia, Africa, etc)
Of course there are a lot of other factors that should be taken into account like economic and security wise but yeah...there are many options to chose from and actually work out something amazing and mutually beneficial.
Now onto the specific Mexican case, some people are saying that they’ve already had projects like ‘BT21’ and ‘POP-UP HOUSE’ but let me tell you sth as someone that has experienced this first handedly, these two projects have only served as a market analysis and as far as I know, they’ve turned out even better than they had planned. I mean, the opening day, they had to restock twice bc ARMY was sweeping their credit cards left and right. Plus, I talked to one of BigHit’s staff members and she told me that “if they were to meet the sales goal, it would serve as a bonus towards bringing BTS for a concert” and I just feel clowned ok 🤡
In conclusion, yeah, you have every right to feel whatever it is you are feeling. Just keep in mind that as much as we love these boys and admire them and everything they do, tour dates are part of one of the darkest places in music industry, especially since they come all the way from Korea and their shows are out of this world (logistic costs and all that jazz). The disappointment is just thanks to some systematic decisions that goes beyond them and the agency. And we are all clowns 🤡🤡🤡
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk
BONUS
Also, this type of behaviour (ignoring specific regions that inflates numbers) is often seen in international groups/artists that are just starting out and then expand but BTS has been around for 7 years so as much as I hate to say it, who knows how much time we have left with them as a group before they take the wheel of their own life bc I mean they’re people after all, with personal goals, not just professional ones. [Fair warning I don’t wanna see u coming at me bc ‘what about their mental health?’ Or whatevs ofc I care and it falls into the “other factors” I am talking on a systematic level, aight]
#bts#bts tour#bts tour 2020#i ranted so much#im sorry#its just that i had to okay#i am so mad at everything rn#this was just the cherry on top#also i forgot to add#ofc i completely understand and agree with the tour dates decision#i just dont like the way some people are tryna unvalidate the feeling of others for not getting dates#i am so old i consider myself that old rich aunt#of ARMY

Hello there! I love to read your responses ( I read two responses of yours (which is enough to make me love your views on tannies and their work) regarding controversial stuff in twt, and about the tannies in general)
I also apologize for my English in advance!
I had a question, about J-Hope's album, actually, I am and was a baby army when they went solo, and stopped doing activities as a group.
And I was not very involved in the streaming or tracking of their schedules for releases. So I didn't understand and realize the importance of Jack in the Box, as much as I do now for all the other releases.
Now, since I'm pretty active in twt, I get to see the sales tracking, stream tracking of Face, Indigo and D-Day..
Coming back to the question, what actually happened during Hobi's album release? And would it be possible to like you know up the sales again for the album?
***
Hi Anon,
I have no fucking clue. Honestly. I don't know where or when exactly it went wrong with Hobi's JITB release, but I know it did. I maintain the packaging looks pathetic and as I've said before, I'd say the same thing to Hobi's face. I love him, but come on. Lol. It would've been great to have a CD, a book, something with weight and heft that you can look forward to receiving in the mail. Not a scrap of cardboard. Hobi agreed and decided on it but it impacted his sales, and more importantly, the overall perception of the album too, however mild. His album also didn't show up on the official BTS website for a good while. With no explanation. While other members' albums were displayed. Just weird ass missteps like that and there's a lot more. But I'm aware all the members' releases have had their own set of circumstances, and incidents that go back too. It doesn't bother me much because this sort of thing is to be expected.
I liked a lot about Hobi's roll-out. I love that he let us in into his album launch party. We saw what the tannies look like in the club (cute). I love how he explained his process. The music videos for More and Arson are A24 indie gold. His 2022 MAMA performance of Future is iconic. JITB felt very Hobi. I'm thankful that record exists and the Weverse album version does have superior sound quality. Rush Hour, On the Street, and HUH?! are stellar follow ups to JITB.
youtube
Hobi has worked hard.
He's done so much and left such a huge legacy already. He's a one in a lifetime artist. I miss him dearly. Painfully, to be honest. This or that hiccup with rollouts doesn't register for me beyond my noting it. Life's too short to not savour everything they're giving us now. Yoongi has dropped the album of the year; Jimin has ended k-pop in 2023; J. Cole now calls himself "Cole hyung"; RM has collated an exhibit of some of the finest artists alive in Indigo; Jin performed in concert with Coldplay in Argentina (LatAm ARMYs, hi!); and Taekook are making splashes well ahead of their solo debuts.
