4. Does the Red Crown give him any unique powers such as the power of rot (a la TROD AU)?
Okay so he has a couple! I'm a big fan of the clasic decaying/rotting things with his hands ofc, however the innate power here would be to shorten a person's life, to drain the very mortality from them so that they may cross his domain faster. But because he's insane, at some point in his bishop life he engraved runes into his bones that amplify this into outright rotting. He's basically preforming little mini rituals everytime he rots something :3 (imagine the hand is more boney im still too artblocked to do bones 😔)
He's aware of the soul and his third eye let's him see things that are normally invisible to normal people (be it magic traces, ghosts, places where the veil between the overworld and the Gateway is thin, illnesses, ect ect).
He is also an incredible conduit for any sort of magic and very easily resonates with spells or rituals and the Crown enhances that by a lot. Fun fact, his favourite spells to cast are common channeling/charging types that are generally weak but he overloads them with magic to the point of them almost combusting, thus turning them far deadlier than the more complicated ones in his arsenal :3
Also when the Red Crown is fully his, he cannot die because it'll keep on regenarating any injury. A fragment of a bone could be what's left of him and he'll be up and about in mere minutes! (Big reason why he was chained in the first place besides him being family and all. They simply couldn't kill him even if they wanted to.)

A solid 7 I'd say. He definitely wakes up with his ears folded inside out lol

#inspector morley late of scotland yard investigates#inspector morley late of scotland yard#(there's some confusion about the correct title of this series; it appears onscreen with 'investigates' but many online sources omit the#final word and it wouldn't be unique in having a title screen that differed slightly from the official name of the show; either way it's a#hell of an unwieldy name for your programme.....)#classic tv#1952#john gilling#victor m. gover#tod slaughter#patrick barr#tucker mcguire#leonard sharp#another rediscovered gem made available by the good folks at kaleidoscope#oof. ok. so the story of Inspector Morley is complicated and still semi mysterious (the show is 70 years old after all‚ there's precious#little surviving documentation). as far as it goes‚ this was a UK production intended for sale to the BBC (there existing no independent tv#company in 1952). the beeb‚ for whatever reason‚ passed on the series. 13 episodes had been made and of these about seven were cobbled#together into feature films to recoup some of the costs; those survived and saw occasional outings on rainy afternoon tv schedules here#it was thought that the remainder were junked‚ but research (not my own i hasten to add) has revealed that the whole series was in fact sol#to the US where it was shown on WGN (a Chicago based station i believe). when kaleidoscope recovered this particular episode some 6 or 7#years ago‚ it was thought to be the sole surviving episode‚ at least in its original format (ie. not edited into a feature). actually it#sounds like they might all exist and a few are even on youtube (including this one). this is very early detective tv and it shows its age#not just in its ropey visuals (it's all quite soft and fuzzy) but in its very old fashioned shape and design‚ which is closer to mid#century film than what television would shortly become. that sensation is only furthered by the presence of the immortal Tod Slaughter‚ a#bastion of early british cinema and one of the first horror icons the uk ever produced. unusually‚ it seems like he starred in most (if not#all) of the episodes of the series; unusual bc he plays the villain‚ opposite Barr's staunch ex copper Morley. having a recurring villain#must certainly have helped when editing the shows into films for cinema release but it was quite a strange choice for tv#tho perhaps a set cast reduced costs (this was clearly a budget production‚ tho it does feature some impressive early location shooting)#Slaughter is great fun‚ in full scenery chewing mode as the wicked and unrepentant mastermind behind all sorts of crimes#Barr even has personal beef with him‚ though it would require seeing the other eps to fully understand it i suspect

Specifically how the name "Graynide" came to be
But before I tell you that story, I have to tell you this story:
7 years ago where teen me decided to create another account on a game called ROBLOX. Teen me had forgotten the password of her old one so she had to make a new one. Thus, she planned out a username called "Granite_FireBlast". I was able to login back to my dusty old account and OH BOY not sure what I was doing with my avatar.
The name Granite actually came from my first old OC name of mine. I think the FireBlast part came from an old concept I came up with of the same OC. (where she had fire powers and would shout "Granite, Fire Blast!" or something like that) And the name pretty much stuck to me for a few years.
You might be wondering how tf did it turn from Granite to Graynide??
Well, you can thank my sister for that! A few years later, she encouraged me to share my art online and created an account for me. The thing is, it didn't start on Tumblr.
It started on Instagram.
When she asked what my username would be, I instinctively said Granite_ (I honestly couldn't think of any other name than mY OLD ROBLOX ACCOUNT) HOWEVER, she misheard me and typed the username Graynide_ instead! You can actually search my Instagram acct up but its pretty much collecting dust. I kept the name because of how iconic it is enough to be searched on the internet.
So yeah, to make a long story short:
The name of this Tumblr url was in the hands of a my sister.

I feel like I’ve been in a dry point with my interests where I still like them a lot, I’m in process of rewatching a bunch of them and still having thoughts about them but I haven’t had a TON of people to talk to them about it. It doesn’t make me upset or anything but I can’t tell if I’m just going through a period where I’m not meeting anyone new-cause all these rewatches are with people I know and who haven’t seen this stuff-so the interactions don’t feel as meaningful to me or I’m literally terrible at FINDING people like I use too- cause anytime I do find someone who likes the stuff I like we dm for a bit and then I forget to talk again 💀
