From this angle, I think the 4th woman walking into Taylor’s car is Laura Sisk, who is Jack’s engineer, but I could be wrong!

🔥 the latter half of taylor’s discography
while taylor is an incredible songwriting chameleon and has more than proved her hand in various genres, i think a common theme throughout her pop albums is that the lows on them feel a lot lower than those on her country albums (even though i think many of the highs are higher just because of the added complexity of her growing as a writer and a person). i think this is probably because she's still a country writer at her core, and therefore can land on her feet pretty much anytime she writes anything remotely close to that genre (more acoustic, singer-songwriter-y vibes) while her pop missteps feel more unformed because the genre usually calls for less overall.
it's also really interesting that you can kind of divide her discography down the middle in terms of collaborators she worked with (the first half being nathan chapman/liz rose the second being jack antonoff/aaron dessner with max martin/shellback being the sort of transitional bridge in between). i really really think right now is a point where she would benefit from another shift in collaborators because it feels like she is rehashing familiar territory with both jack and aaron at this point. while i commend her (and jack!) for working with a female engineer, i think it would be amazing for her to actively seek out more female producers moving forward <3

Midnights is a wild ride of an album and I couldn’t be happier that my co pilot on this adventure was Jack Antonoff. He’s my friend for life (presumptuous I know but I stand by it) and we’ve been making music together for nearly a decade HOWEVER… this is our first album we’ve done with just the two of us as main collaborators. We’d been toying with ideas and had written a few things we loved, but Midnights actually really coalesced and flowed out of us when our partners (both actors) did a film together in Panama. Jack and I found ourselves back in New York, alone, recording every night, staying up late and exploring old memories and midnights past. We were so lucky to also work with our brilliant collaborators Sam Dew, Sounwave, Lana Del Rey, Jahaan Sweet, Keanu Beats, William Bowery, and Zoe Kravitz. Laura Sisk was our excellent engineer. The wonderful and wise Beth Garrabrant took the album photographs. Midnights is a collage of intensity, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights. Which is out now
