My headcanon is that they were secretly dating since they were young, before Sabo regained his memory and Law became a Warlord. So when Law helps Luffy he does it out of instinct, because he is a "D" but then he finds out that he is his brother-in-law. Now Law takes care of Luffy, because he knows that he is important to his beloved Sabo, and they got married in secret. They even adopted Roule. Anyway, my headcanons are for the games. I'll keep waiting for Law and Sabo to officially meet in the manga.

Many cookies are surprised when they hear that Le Roule Cookie is a cheese cookie, since her appearance is much paler than your average cheese cookie. Silent and intelligent, Le Roule Cookie has been hired to infiltrate and steal for the rich. Be warned, this cookie plays dirty! Oddly enough, she doesnt seem to have broken any laws..

Then befriends him, cares for him, and helps him overcome emotional troubles.

Doctor Kureha and Chopper

It’s cool that despite abusive but loved and supportive caretakers, or caretakers that were pure neglect and/or physically abusive (that is, not beloved, no redeeming characteristics)

that the Straw hats and friends don’t perpetuate the physical abuse or neglect of their childhoods. Chopper refuses to hurt the kids who are hurting him. Kureha doesn’t hold back. 

Of course they only have temporary contact with the kids they’re involved with in contrast to their caretakers but I like to think it would spill into any long-term roles they might undertake.

Bit of a stretch with the below: 

considering Law would’ve probably left the kids on Punk Hazard, although his distaste for Caesar’s methods directly pertaining to the kids might counter some of that (see below) but

he did save Bepo (although he was a child too. And any of the caretakers would probably have done the same).

and there are non-canon sources (that’s the stretch, haha, but we haven’t seen him hurt any kids in canon, unlike someone like Walpol and Vivi)

Law and Roule above. (He does tend to carry Roule in the same way that Cora carried him though). 

As for the guys below:

Sanji and Zeff

Luffy and Garp

Sanji and Luffy have definitely helped O-Toko and O-Tama and the kids on Punk Hazard and in other situations, but the attitude towards the supposed eight-year-old Momonosuke could be debated. 

I think they’re good guys, anyway, and Sanji’s overcome massive abuse from the Vinsmokes too. And in either case their canon actions play into the fact that Momonsuke would be twenty-eight if time travel wasn’t a thing (from both a lecherous and a ‘man up’ pov) , and he will be the one who holds the key to success in Wano.

Of course Nami, Usopp and Franky also get on well with and care about kids and also come from backgrounds of trauma, abandonment or neglect (although pre-timeskip Franky and the Franky family don’t mind beating up a much younger, weaker, Usopp).

Bellmère didn’t appear to be physically abusive though (same can’t be said for Arlong), and the same goes for Banchina, and Tom and Kokoro (as far as I can remember about Tom. Please correct me if I’m wrong). 

So, I know it’s the point that these guys are better than the generations or power structures before them and, as said, these guys aren’t playing consistent parenting roles, but if they were, they might do a better job of it than their mentors and benefactors, and definitely a better job than their family or blood relatives in three cases. It’s a nice moral contrast that Oda’s woven through the narrative.*

*okay, okay, Bandai isn’t Oda (Law’s case), but I’m gonna keep it until something pops up in canon.

Law didn’t particularly care for kids.

He just didn’t like to be around them. They were loud, needy, and they asked too many questions. Luffy was barely an adult, and since Law was stuck with the Straw Hats until he could get back to his own crew, he’d filled his immaturity quota for the time being.

Unfortunately, the world had other plans for him.

The kid seemed like trouble from the start. Anyone who tailed another person like that wasn’t to be trusted. And why a child was carrying around such a detailed map was beyond him; frankly, he wanted nothing to do with it. He had things to do, and none of them involved babysitting.

That didn’t mean Law couldn’t lend him a hand, though. Just once.

He didn’t bring the kid up to the sky island to help him. No, nothing like that. He just didn’t want to see him blow himself up with the canon— also, it was pretty entertaining to see how he reacted when soaring through the air. He used his powers to ensure a smooth landing on the island, though the boy seemed too disoriented to notice.

Law definitely didn’t consider himself responsible for the kid (even though he was the one who’d brought him there in the first place), but he didn’t want to deal with a guilty conscience. They were on a sky island, after all. One misstep could be the end, even for someone as powerful as Law himself.

“Watch your step now, or you’ll fall.”

That seemed good enough to ease any of his worries. Law turned on his heels and walked away, his thoughts drifting back to his own business. Out of sight, out of mind.

If only he knew that wouldn’t be the last time they’d cross paths.

I really want to write a scene now where Roese gets to meet Roule and he's just like "no that's my Law" and she's so confused and Law just goes with it-

I’m so obsessed with the Law DLC...like...I can’t even... So the whole premise is Law is trying to help Luffy/the Strawhats look for this treasure and ends up going off on his own to avoid getting caught up in their usual tomfoolery only to end up adopting a whole ass child...like I kid you not. Law meets this kid named Roule and Law saves him multiple times while Roule gives Law useful info about the island and whatnot. Like. The fact that Law is the SAME AGE as Cora when he saved Law as a kid...and then Law meets this kid, who’s an almost spitting image of little Cora...and Law is wearing his CORAZON hoodie...I can’t. My heart. ALSO GET THIS:

Roule does have an...unfortunate tendency...to get stuck/fall off things, leading to Law running into and helping/saving him multiple times. BUT REALLY. A CLUMSY BLOND. REMINDS YOU OF A CERTAIN SOMEONE NO? and Law is wearing his CORAZON hoodie, i literally can’t get over that

Anyways, sorry to interrupt your usual browsing, I’ll just be over in my corner screaming about this game and Law.
