I’ve been rewatching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries as they are being rereleased for the 5th anniversary. I’ve been behind, so I’m getting caught up. Tonight I got to episode 87, and OF COURSE I cried again.

I just spent ALL DAMN DAY porting over our dumb website and I’ve re tinkered some things and I have to say:

Our narrative page turned out so well!* It’s REALLY easy to start from the beginning and just click forward. There’s no back & forth, there’s no hunting for links. You just basically press “next” when you’re ready to keep reading/viewing.  You can totally experience the show for the first time or the next this way, easy. Peasy.

LBD 5 Years!

Hi hi hi! You guys might not have been around approximately five years ago when I was a baby tumblr user and obsessing over the final episodes of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Well, LBD is doing a 5 year anniversary real time re-release via Facebook, which I am stoked about. So, I’m probably gonna be posting my thoughts on all the videos with the perspective of a 21 year old (vs the 16 year old I was during the initial release). I still love LBD and all the expansion of that universe, so I’m stoked to get to live it again. So, let’s go!

Hi, I’m a 21 year old college student currently interning at a graphic design firm, and I am perpetually single. I still relate to Lizzie the most out of all the characters. My family and people in my life often talk about when I finally get a boyfriend and when I finally get married. Which yeah, sure if I meet the right guy, I’d love to date and get married someday, but who knows if I will meet the right guy. Also, my worth isn’t determined by my future marital status. Which I know my family knows, but anyways. So yeah, the older I get, the more freaking relatable Lizzie is. Only real difference now, knowing the end of the arc and Lydia’s future, I like her a whole lot more than I did 5 years ago. So, bye for now! See y’all later this week!

Happy Darcy Day!

Dont think this has found its way to tumblr yet - sharing info as I find it. I know I was all set to jump on the #lbd5year hype train, but now that I know about this, the whole re-release feels horribly calculated and underhand. Which is maybe not surprising, lol, but anyway. 

Highlight:

* full disclosure: I have no idea how involved Hank is at this stage, or has been for the past few years. According to this article he still has “a stake in the show” (so...stands to make profit?) but isn't involved in decision making. Still, worth including him in a tweet.

The Ly-di-yuh 🤗 The Lizzie Bennet Diaries on YouTube is one of the best modern adaptations of Pride & Prejudice ever. Seriously. Like it's really fucking brilliant and I wish I had it as a supplement when I was studying P&P in high school. I love this show and this cast so much, and the way they adapted the story, and how they've used social media... just brilliant. Also just found out it's actually the 5 year anniversary of the show!
