May the odds be ever in their favor

This is my fic for the @lcdrarry fest. It was my first experience as a fest writter, and in a fest in general (😱) and it was amazing!

I wrote for @written-in-ash prompt : The movie Hunger Games, Catching Fire. I took some liberty and even if it's not usual, I love how it turned out!

Summary : After the war that had drowned the country in misery, the Ministry developed a video game. The winners got money and the losers got their name put in a data base until, once a year, the Minister chose twenty-four candidates to participate in the ultimate battle royale.

Last year, Harry and Draco miraculously survived the tournament and thought they could finally live their life in peace. That was, until they received a letter from Minister Riddle himself.

Notes: So welcome to a fic that was supposed to be short and then somehow grew into something that is just over 30k. Notes:Huge shoutout to S for being the most unbelievably amazing beta I’ve ever had the privilege of working with, and cheering me on the whole time I was writing this story. It is the honest-to-god truth to say that I could not have finished this without you. Another huge shoutout to Y for working like a last-minute beta machine on this and making sure the story was perfect. This fic is based on the real-life story of two incredible Formula One racing drivers (Niki Lauda and James Hunt - absolute icons) and their fight for the Championship Title, as immortalised in the movie 'Rush'. Although the overarching theme of this fic is taken from the two protagonists of the movie, I've drawn heavily from other Formula One rivalries as well (Lewis Hamilton/Nico Rosberg, Ayrton Senna/Alain Prost) bc what can I say it's not my fault that F1 is chock-full of legendary homoerotic rivalries. Title taken from Ayrton Senna's infamous overtaking quote: "If you no longer go for a gap that exists, then you are no longer a racing driver."
