like i don’t understand xi//cheng to begin with but conceptually i think it’s even funnier when ppl are like “and jingyi is their son!! 🥹” as if jingyi is not canonically ragging on jc at every single opportunity presented to him (and then some)
like this is their dynamic

If you think about it, Nie Huaisang's plans aren't as meticulous as Jin Guangyao's. His plans could be stopped immediately by unforeseen forces with enough bad luck, like what if Mo Xuanyu was not banished and instead killed? What if the ritual did not work? What if JGY denied his cryings in the Koi tower, disabling the messenger to deliver the letter to Qin Su? What if Qin Su wasn't that repelled from the fact that they're siblings? What if Qin Su did not believe the truth about their son's death? What if Si si refused to drop the bombs? What if the Sect leaders refused to believe the two random and unknown women? WHAT IF WEI WUXIAN DID NOT PLAY "WANGXIAN" IN THE DAFAN MOUNTAIN?
So many plans were released to the wind with a little prayer "I hope this works!", and you know what? They did! Because Nie Huaisang isn't actually an evil calculating meticulous mastermind who has plans from A to Z. That's Jin Guangyao. NHS is an artist, a theatre kid, and a grieving little brother.
He was also sided by the gods. (And the author)

OK I need to just appreciate the boost in confidence my boy has post-timeskip like. The little smirk at the Lans while just straight up calling them out. Not even responding to WWX's inane shit talking here, just running interference like a very good boy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just immediately spinning the situation against WWX, it's great. How much of this is planned? I don't know. He walks into frame like he's the hero of the day right after JGY's "et tu Er-Ge" moment on the stairs.
Tumblr media
As he should! He is the hero of the day! And the hero of every day! If you're JGY I guess, from now on at least.

Its the jiao jiao anon again .
You keep giving me great pairings. Tell me everything how su she (Shang Qinghua) transmigrate and how will fuck jiang cheng. Is he still an author ? What was his intention with this kinda book?
I think he is still a writer but not the actual author of mdzs. He's a relatively casual fan who admires the vision and winces in sympathy every time drama gets kicked off. This is why you don't try, mdzs author! You give the people what they want and take their money. He's originally planning on keeping his head down and learning just enough cultivation from the Lan to make his life easier than it otherwise would be, then getting an urgent letter from his sick mother right before the Wen are scheduled to attack, but alas, his wandering not-cultivator dumpling sabbatical puts him directly in Jiang Cheng's path while he's frantically running for help after leaving Wei Wuxian in the Xuanwu cave. And the thing is he's still kind of reflexively haughty when he needs something? So pathetic and vulnerable. So cute. What could possibly be the harm in giving him a ride? The Wen aren't scheduled to attack Lotus Pier for ages. He can be on a ship to Dongyin by that time!
Anyway no good deed goes unpunished because Jiang Fengmian does as a general rule believe in giving credit and naming names. He should have fucking known. Now Wen Chao has a grudge against him and he's running around under a fake name wracking up credit for things he did (while trying to run away) and things he did not do (sometimes even when you have a massive army and the most powerful cultivator in the world on your side, things go wrong! He's not responsible for every problem with Wen supply lines. He's responsible for exactly one cart blowing up, and he was just trying for a distraction so he could sneak onto a ship. It didn't work and the harbour is kind of a no-go zone for him now). He comes up with a new plan: find Huaisang and use his shitty unwanted heroic reputation and talent for creative pornography to worm his way into the young master's guard, where he can get some writing done far from the front lines. Unfortunately, he once again stumbles across Jiang Cheng, who is tragically trying to rebuild his sect and searching for a missing shixiong. Shang Qinghua is still a logistics guy, because he was doing grunt work for the Lan and also I feel like that's the shape any transmigration setting is going to bend into around him. Jiang Cheng is so grateful to see a familiar face. He knows the value of a good spreadsheet. His eyes are so pretty when he's trying not to cry. The Jiang aren't in a great place during the war, but Shang Qinghua knows the sect makes it through and he doesn't remember any Jiang disciples being asked to heroically sacrifice themselves after Lotus Pier falls. Plus the food is better and there's plenty of room at the top! A veritable power vacuum. To say nothing of all the empty space in Jiang Cheng's personal life when almost everyone he loves dies and leaves him alone! Anyway this is the story of how Shang Qinghua accidentally paints a series of targets on his back, unnecessarily involves himself in the plot, and overcomplicates his life because being a sucker for a pretty face and a bad personality is even more integral to his character than underappreciated grunt work. Probably he manages to save Yanli, at least. He's not interested in being a stepfather! That's a lot of work. Wei Wuxian barely notices he exists until either he saves everyone or the second life roles around, depending on how ambitious and/or motivated Shang Qinghua is feeling. Then he hates him passionately, but it's too late. They probably eventually reach some kind of begrudging peace.

The Lotus Throne
by Blackbeads461
G, WIP, 2k, Wei Wuxian
Summary: What if it was Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu who died? What if Wei Changze took control of the Lotus Throne? A Sect Leader WCZ AU oneshot inspired from the many asks on angstymdzsthoughts. Kay's comments: Very torn because my heart hurts at the thought of either of the Wei parents being an asshole, but. I also live for the angst and I live for @angstymdzsthoughts inspired stories. And this one is such a good angsty story and despite not having been update in a long time, definitely worth giving a chance, since it can also be read as a one-shot (the first chapter was originally meant as a one-shot anyways). In this story, it was the Jiang parents who died instead of the Wei parents, so Wei Changze took over as the regent until Jiang Cheng can take over and unfortunately, he pushes Wei Ying into the role of becoming a servant for the Jiang Sect and their relationship becomes very detached. Luckily, Wei Ying's mom still has his back! Excerpt: It doesn’t matter that the uncle selling lotus pods on the streets says that Lotus Pier has been flourishing since Wei Changze took the task of leading the sect. For his father, his surname Wei has no purpose if separated from the Jiangs. That Wei is a follower, not a leader. The statement echoes in his thoughts and Wuxian snaps. All that he can hear right now is a buzz in his ears. He cannot tell what his father is saying. All he knows is that he is the son of a servant who is a leader, but never acknowledges that title. He is the son of a servant serving his best friend. He is a Wei whose destiny was written. Whose fate was to be by Jiang Cheng’s side and protect him. He is a Wei whose worth they will never acknowledge, even when he puts his life at risk to save the one he was told to. Because he is a Wei and hence a servant. The buzzing stops and he is met with a pin drop silence. Yet he doesn’t look up at his father, who had now stopped speaking. Wei Wuxian cannot recall what he asked, something he will again get scolded for.
pov wei wuxian, canon divergence, sect leader wei changze, cangse sanren and wei changze live, dead jiang fengmian and yu ziyuan, rogue cultivator wei wuxian, wei wuxian is baoshan sanren's disciple, angst and hurt/comfort, wei wuxian leaves the yunmeng jiang sect, cloud recesses study arc

naruto as a whole is a fucking mess and i say thisas somebody whos read the entireseries 3 times over. “naruto is going to change the system! haha teehee never mind hes not doing anytning about the child soldiers and slave castes and the genocides.” “sasuke can be upset at his brother for committing a genocide but actually genocide against an oppressed bloodline is good if theyre getting uppity and its sanctioned by the government and also have a genetic predisposition to be evil so he should just get over it and be okay with it” “sakura needs to stop obsessing over a guy whos not even interested and become strong for her own sake. actually shes a housewife now”
kishimoto im going to blow you up with my mind
YOU GET IT
For real though I think what they did with Sasuke's arc was one of the most baffling fucking things I've ever seen. "Actually. Your brother who carried out a genocide loved you :( he only put you in the Torment Nexus for several days because uhhh he wanted you to hate him and not find out about the government who ordered it. Everything he ever did was actually to protect you. And Uchihas are actually kinda rotten anyway so it's good an entire GROUP OF PEOPLE died. Don't think about any babies or children who were also slaughtered btw uhh nope all of them were bad."
Sasuke: "Yes I understand. I will now rule the world through fear. Actually nvm Naruto won our fight so, my philosophy is gone now."
Thank goodness that Evil Sasuke killed the three Bad Government Officials before that point, though. We had this whole theme going about toxic structures, cycles of abuse, and how oppressive regimes can propagate themselves even when a leader is well-meaning... but, like, Naruto REALLY wants to be Hokage, so actually if you just kill these Three Bad Governors it's gonna be fine.
There is no need for systemic change. Slave castes and child soldiers are fine. It's ok as long as the president is blonde :)
#It also bothers me unreasonably. And HAS bothered me since I was like 15. That in the final--#--scene where sasuke finally lets Naruto Into His Heart he goes off about how they were both just Lonely Children Looking for Love#Like... no!! No actually! Sasuke's WHOLE THING was that EVERYONE was praising him as a prodigy#But that he was pushing away everyone around him because his brother put him in the fucjing torment nexus#It would have been more appropriate to talk about how THEYVE BOTH BEEN MADE INTO WEAPONS#For Naruto to realize (now that he is Useful to his war-obsessed society) that Sasuke was also undergoing a sort of dehumanization#It should be through THEIR GROWTH AS PEOPLE that they finally have a deeper understanding of each other#THEY DID NOT HAVE A COMMON ORIGIN#THATS THE POINT. THEY BECAME FRIENDS IN SPITE OF IT#iM FLIPPING TABLES#They had the opposite problem as each other but through self-imposed ostracization and proving one's 'worth' *NOW* THEY GET IT#But we cant do that bc you'd have to admit that Sasuke hada fucking point and wasnt just wrong the whole time#And that this system is ROTTEN and that Naruto shouldn't become Hokage but DESTROY THE POSITION#because dictators choosing dictators IS BAD.#They should have changed the government to democracy and then Sakura wins the first free election#Because she's actually deeply connected with the people of the fire nation especially outside of the capital city#For like her humanitarian work during the timeskip#And for being the disciple of Tsunade who was a respected leader#And then have a cute moment where Naruto and her banter about it. That she fulfilled HIS dream lmaoo#And also let the three of them be friends im beggign OTL#She gets over her crush on him and theyre just friends#Animeposting#I shouldn't have mentioned sakura now im yelling about naruto on the cat blog

I'm having Yunmeng Shuangjie feelings I am losing it over the way these two idiots try to rationalize the decisions and emotions towards the other through duty and obligation.
Wei Wuxian attempts to rationalize the golden core transfer and his subsequent actions of secrecy and running away by trying to convince both himself and JC (and others) that he made those decisions out of duty, debt, and obligation: duty to JC, debt to Yunmeng Jiang, debt and obligation towards the Wen siblings. By doing so he hopes to mask the deep truth that his singular most important decision -- to transfer his own core to JC -- was done not out of duty, but out of love. If he admits to how love pushed him to try and fix JC, he would then have to grapple with the blatant truth that not only did the decision break the trust between himself and JC, but in fact did the opposite of fixing JC. The event only further breaks them apart. WWX refuses to acknowledge any feelings of regret he could possibly have about the golden core transfer -- either because did not understand how terrible living without a golden core could be, or because he knows that what he did to JC was agonizing -- by only accepting his actions as done by a servant for a master, as a disciple for his sect and sect leader.
Jiang Cheng also suffers from this rationalization. When WWX defects and later dies, JC attempts to reinforce his righteous anger and rage towards WWX by viewing his betrayal not as done by a close friend and brother, but as betrayal done by a sect member and first disciple. By publicly and internally deriding WWX as a traitor to Yunmeng Jiang, forgoing his duty and obligation to his sect leader and the sect that took him in, JC can delude himself into accepting the derision and gloating exalted by the rest of the cultivation world and reject the complex and often contradictory feelings of grief and loss he feels towards WWX that stem from the painful truth that WWX hurt him not because he was a trusted discple, but because he was a close confidante and an almost-brother. Such pitiful emotions are unacceptable for someone so hated as WWX. So, JC aligns his emotional turmoil with the rest of society by refusing to remember the whole truth of his relationship with WWX as not just a trusted disciple, but as a dear friend and an older brother. In doing so, JC's negative emotions are quite unfair (though in his defense it's not like JC knew the truth behind WWX's confounding actions) and also never allow JC any chance to actually come to terms with WWX's betrayal and painful downfall.
I think the best Yunmeng Shuangjie reconciliation stories are the ones where JC has to admit that his comtempt towards WWX during the 13 years that he was dead was unneccessarily unfair and allowed him no place to truly accept and grieve for the loss of his brother, and where WWX has to admit to himself the true reason for the golden core transfer and how he cannot run away from the reality of the pain such a decision caused both himself and his brother, and perhaps even admit that it wasn't really the right decision, if there even is a right decision for that scenario at all. I need JC to yell at WWX about how the whole golden core transfer just serves to prove that WWX never accepted himself as family to the Jiang siblings when JC and JYL both cared for him deeply as a brother, while WWX yells back at JC about how he could possibly dare to see JC as family when all he has done in the years since his resurrection was act as if WWX was nothing but a sect traitor and stranger not worthy of a truthful conversation.

Fic idea: Jiang Cheng was cursed to say and do what he really feels for a day.
He caresses Wei Wuxian's cheeks and says how proud he is of him. He hugs Jin Ling and confesses that he's the center of his world. He praises his disciples and expresses how happy he is for staying with him. He swam around the lotus pond on only his inner robes as he always dreams of doing. He sweet-talked Lan Xichen out of seclusion. He glared at Lan Wangji and told him to get lost.

Canon divergence AU where the YilingWei have founded a tradition within the Burial Mounds.
Something similar to the Lan’s forehead receiving a forehead ribbon, or a Jiang earning a clarity bell.
It’s a ceremony of sorts, where you are officially seen as a full-fledged Guide, as Wei Wuxian likes to call all his children.
Guides— not unorthodox cultivators, and children—not disciples.
Every year the YilingWei prepare a ritual, on Qingming where the dead were to be remembered, it was only natural for lingering spirits to visit their loved ones.
But here in the Burial Mounds it was different.
The dead here are discarded, long forgotten neither mourned nor respected.
Why are they mourned and I’m not?
Why are they remembered, while I rot and suffer?
Ḥ̸̡̡̨̢̛͕̼̬̖̻̹͔̤̬̭̱͓̰͇̥͎̜͖̘̱̜̙̭͔̫̞̖̻͎͖͚̀͆̉̈̂̃̔͛́̍͂̈̾̌̾̊͗̽̆̊͊̔͗̀͐̋̈͛͘̚̕̕͜͜͝ͅŎ̵̧̢͎̯̭͇͈̮͖̦̰̜̰͍̤̦͚͕̳̩͎̒̇̄̾̈́̃̔̈̿̔̀͊̉̅̈́̉̑͑̈́̕͘͝W̷̨̢̧̛͈͔̙̮̥̮͉̜͕̫̭̻̟̝̝̘̝͖̞͍̦͙̝̻͉͗̀̈́̋͊͆̀͑͐̔̾̇̏͂̋̓̈́̈́̊̊͐̇͂̓̆͒̕̕͝͝͝ ̸̡̢̢̛͔͍͖̰̬̖̥͚̩̓͐͑̽͑͛̍̐͆͗͒̿̃̎̏́́̄̈́̽̾̽̓̑̈́̐̓͠͠I̸̡̧̢̨̺̪͈̥͉̯̬͔̪͎̟̙̞̗̘̤͙̟̣̭̮̭͉͚͎͈̅̈́̐̒̏̋̽̐̋̃̍̈̃͗͘̚͠S̸̡̧͉͇̼̙̖̺̟̞͇̣͇̪̪̖̒̃̃̎̏̿̉̽̅̑̎̋͝͝ͅ ̸̢̧̛͔͇͙̹̫͕̦̜͚͓͙̥͔̮̹̤͆̐͋̔̑͋̊̆́̔̇̐͊̕͘͠Ţ̷̢̢̨͉̟͔̼͔̞̳̭̹̹̭̪̱͙̭̗̳͍͕͕̰̱̩̳̪͔̣͓̲̹͖͎̯̓̎̓͗̍̓̎̾̍͌̊́̑̆͌̀̌̈̂̍̅̈̚͘͝ͅH̵̨̨̢̡̫̦̳̪̲̙͈̼̺̞̱͖̦̘̪͇̗͈͕̦̯͚͓͖̥̘͓͇͓̲̏̾͒̽̃̈͜ͅÁ̷̛̛̝̝̠̿͋͂̐̎͌̋̽͊͂̽̂͊̾̃̂̍̉̈́̎̈̓̿͒͊̒͐̀̀̈͛̎̕͜͝T̷̖̹̘̞͖̣̪͋̊̈́̓̈̈́͂́̽͑̀̐͐͊̒͛̈́̚̕͝͝ ̸̧̱̯̹̰̪̳̘̳̬̼͈̜͖͉̠̼̟̩̬̦̘̤̬͕̮̩̦̫̙̻̓̿̈̓͊͒̍̿͊̿̔̕͝F̷̡̢̛͚̙̼̫̦̰͖̭̜̖͓͕͈̗̱̰̭̩̠̺̱̖̫̩̝̪̪̲͗͊̏̈̈̋́̔͗̀̈́̋͛̍͊̉͑͛̀̂̈́̈́̇͝ͅͅÄ̶͕́̐̇͒͐́̅̈́͘͠͝ͅĮ̷̢̧̨̛̛̳̩͇͔͔̘̟̙͎̫͓̥̹̜͉̬̠͔̲̥̦͎̮̠̉̅̎͐̂́̒̆͆̐̇̋͋͊͂̃̈́̀̀̂̍̓̒̀͂̏͋͋̕͘͜Ṛ̶̨̢̛̙̯̪̲͈̟͙͙̘͍̖̳̝̠̖͍̪̩̻͖̻̳̉́͛̑̕͠ͅͅ?̸̧͓̻̘͓͎̰̻̭͇͐̆͛̈́̊̓̎͗̅͌̆̽̏̐͂̿̎͘͝͝
They grow wild and rampant in their grief that the mounds cannot contain them. And so the responsibility had fallen onto Wei Wuxian’s lap.
When he was first thrown into this hellhole, he almost died.
When the Wen Remnants had settled in, he took it upon himself every year to walk around the whole mountain, singing, soothing, granting wishes of lost spirits.
But now there were more of them, and it had turned into a tradition for most of his children to go through.
“Black Parade” Wen Qing had called it. Though it was a joke, it stuck somehow.
This year he was parading with two of his eldest, Xue Yang and Wen Yuan, the two had just turned 15 but were the peak role models for their shidis and shimeis.
It was an important event in their lives, not even their sword-naming ceremony was as eventful.
The residents of their small community gathered around to send them out, whistling a low and eerie, but soothing tune as they watched the three silhouettes disappear outside the barrier.
And out they went, both boys walked in front with red-lit lamps that produced soothing incense, their Sect Leader walked behind them, flute in one hand and lantern on the other like an assuring shield, always ready to protect his children when something went awry.
It starts as a whistle, they both harmonize on a single note as they continued to trot through the dead land, ghosts slowly rise from their hidings like flowers to a sun.
When their lanterns ran low on incense, they stop to re-light, kowtowing to the earth and the souls it contained, then their whistling slowly turned into a melody, low so not to agitate the dead, but it was effective enough.
They would parade the whole mountain just like this, often times there are spirits that need to be brought down, but they never neglect to build it a grave. For even the savages must be mourned for, in a realm where there is nothing but death, nothing is remembered yet never forgotten.
They come home to their families once the parade it done, they celebrate with their own feasts, they sing and dance rituals in remembrance of their late loved ones.
By the end of the day, the participants of the parade are not only acknowledged by their Sect Leader, but by the spirits that they’ve helped.
Blessed with gifts by the HeiBai WuChang.
To protect and fight for those who cannot.
That is the resolve of the YilingWei.
And that is what it takes to truly understand the Ghost Path.

Jiang Wanyin, Nie Huaisang, and Wei Wuxian teaming up (sworn brothers) would've been extraordinary. In canon it wouldn't work (it would also make an entirely different tale). For plenty reasons. For one, I think Jiang Wanyin would have too little insight to play along with their schemes, and Wei Wuxian too reckless to play things strategically/politically, but if we pretend the stars are aligned it would have been amazing.
More under the cut because I'm rambling. It all boils down to Nie Huaisang interacting with Jiang Wanyin and Wei Wuxian more before Nie Mingjue's death and having a tight leash on them both while being pitiful and feigning as politically insignificant.
Jiang Wanyin is actually fine with creating some unrest in the cultivation world if he has another sect's (combative) reputable backing (which used to be Nie Mingjue, so his early presence would be part of the whole 'stars must align' deal). After all, he was also one of the main instigators for the Sunshot Campaign, as a gongzi who just lost his entire sect against largely hesitant sects.
Jiang Wanyin also rebuilt an entire sect and elevated it to a high position in his own generation, all while during a war. That said, he's respectable and efficient but lacks the influence, charisma and sway to be truly persuasive.
Nie Huaisang would garner information, offer what Jiang Wanyin lacks in cunning, and set things up for Jiang Wanyin to honourably settle things publically (or lets things be taken care of, less publically). His timid reputation would soften the fear people have of his other sworn brother, Wei Wuxian.
Now, Wei Wuxian (pre-death) is a powerhouse with or without Golden Core (the archery competition, for example) and intelligent, but unorthodox and brash. With Nie Huaisang placating him (and helping him stay out of trouble), Wei Wuxian might be more likely to leave things up to Jiang Wanyin (who, at this point, would have a greater chance of actually succeeding in back-stabbing cultivator land) while his presence alone suffices as a threat.
But not too much of a threat! After all, if the Head Shaker cries on Yiling Laozu's lap after only half a cup of wine, then he can't be entirely ruthless, shameful and without compassion. Especially if Wei Wuxian is as charismatic as he usually is towards Nie Huaisang in public, as well.
Sect Leader Nie Mingjue is also not to be messed with. Even though he openly dislikes Wei Wuxian (demonic cultivation is dishonourable), Nie Huaisang does like him, and at least his younger brother's meddling is pulling some weight politically. Additionally, Nie Mingjue respects Jiang Wanyin for his role during the Sunshot Campaign. If Wei Wuxian is still in good standing with Jiang Wanyin, then altogether it's good for the relationship between Qinghe Nie and Yunmeng Jiang (as well as Gusu Lan, though Jiang Wanyin and Wei Wuxian have yet to figure out that Wei Wuxian's antics have a beneficial effect on one Hanguang-jun and thus Sect Leader Lan Xichen - who is of course sworn brother of Nie Mingjue himself as well as Jin Guangyao).
And even if Nie Mingjue still dies (which he likely will, especially if the alliance between Qinghe Nie and Yunmeng Jiang stabilizes), that would only make Nie Huaisang (tragically) more driven. And he'd be less alone, having the support of brothers to get him through it.
Tensions would be so, so, so high because Jiang Wanyin (as the de facto leader) isn't technically politically powerful, but everyone has to concede to him a little anyway because of the sheer pressure the three hold.

August 31, 2024 - Exhortation
This present season is going to be a season of Genesis, of new creation—even new beginnings, this will also be a time of fulfillment of promises and expansion with an emphasis on Kingdom advancement. Be encouraged as God wants to put you right where you belong so that you can have an impact in your Christ calling.
The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:14). It is the Holy Spirit that brings truth and revelation to the inner-man, the spirit man, or new creation in Christ that you are. It is in your spirit that God comes alive, not your soul. Your soul is affected as you affirm and meditate on scripture, therefore, become spiritually attuned – NOW you have given the Holy Spirit something to work with.
2 Corinthians 5:17 - "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
As we are awakened to this realm of living, there is unlimited potential in how God can flow through us. Because we have been born of the Spirit, the nature of God is there to be accessed on the inside. We are not trying to get God to come down because He already did that. He awakened our spirit, gave us His Holy Spirit, and He trains our mind, through affirming and meditating on His Word, with His promises that we may partake of His divine ministry to change the world.
When atmospheres change from darkness to light and when Heaven is manifested on the earth, it stirs and shifts things in the invisible realm where God's angels are activated. As you continue to engage with God – manifesting His Kingdom in such a way through your Christ calling that the light of His presence changes atmospheres -- enables you to change the way people think -- His heavenly hosts will bring their assistance to you.
ALBERT FINCH MINISTRY

mel c magdalene made me realize what was missing from my magdalene design and it's that she's not fucking jacked. it's crucial to her character
#🧅#literally my takeaway from jcs2012 was mary magdalene's arms. yeah those guys were there too i guess#i think hers might be my favorite portrayal of mary#like. not just because she's jacked i just really liked how jc2012 worked with magdalene#she felt more fleshed out. and i <3 yvonne elliman in this role i always will but lets be so for real in the 1973 movie mary was a sexy lam#character except instead of sexy she was like. sopping wet cat lamp character#i mean i think she was also sexy. but that's beside the point this post is not about how attractive i find yvonne elliman#or mel c#well it kind of is about how attractive i find mel c#whatever. my point is it was the 70s and she was a female character. so like. you get it !#and i feel like a lot of the time magdalene is very girlbossified in a way that makes her very one dimensional#without EVER her appearing masculine of course because god forbid the one female character does not appear to the male gaze#(well originally female character anyways. today genderbend casting is a thing and it fucks)#it's either she's a Girl Disciple (no further elaboration) or she's like. a girlboss stone hearted biker gang leader leather jacket queen#(no actual further elaboration but her one 'ooh i love this man and i dont know how to show it' solo tricks you into thinking there is)#while 2012 magdalene somehow seems much more well rounded to me.#they let her be herself more. idk. that's how i interpreted it at least. in my mind.#it's like. i feel many other marys i've seen are described by how they treat jesus (and sometimes judas)#but this one still feels present even when jesus is not around. or he is but she's not interacting with him.#again this is a very specific interpretation that clicked in my brain im not saying that jcs2012 like. did some groundbreaking feminist#portrayal of magdalene. but yknow !#she also didn't acknowledge judas' existence once while he had created some weird one sided beef with her which was. very funny to me#literally did not waste a glance at him.
