What is your favorite episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender?

Ohhhh gosh, that’s hard.

Maybe it’s cliched as a Zutara shipper, but I’m going to have to go with the Southern Raiders episode (3x16) because we got to see Zuko and Katara working together for the first time. 

But more than that, we got to see Katara do something for herself for once. She’s always so concerned with protecting and mothering everyone that she often neglects herself in the process. And I think both the audience and the rest of the characters forget sometimes that she’s just a girl who’s lost her mother tragically in the war and had to shoulder responsibilities far beyond her years. And I don’t think Katara was ever truly given a chance to really face that grief until the Southern Raiders episode. 

And I love that it was Zuko who saw that and understood it. He was the first person to really ask about what happened to Katara and Sokka’s mother and the first person to see Katara as a person and not someone that should be placed on a pedestal. And you know that if she had chosen to kill Yon Rah that day, he wouldn’t have judged her for one second. 

Now I have my issues with Season 3, but that was honestly an awesome episode. 

Although, I also have to have a quick shoutout to my favourite scene as well, which is this: 

I don’t think there’s ever been a fight scene that I felt so wholly heartbroken by through it all. The music, the crazed look in Azula’s eyes, Zuko’s development as a fighter and that damn lightning scene. Ugh. So good.

1) What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Dr@mione… I could just never quite get my head around that one. 

2) Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?

Tbh, Harry/Hermione… I do agree with JKR that Harry and Hermione could have worked well together and could have made each other happy. But I think they are both much happier in the relationships they are now than they would have been if they ended up together. They are both exactly where they belong!

11) Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

Narcissa Malfoy is an absolute badass. If you think about it, she could possibly be one of the most powerful Occlumens ever. She convinced Voldemort, a master of Occlumency that Harry was dead even though she knew he wasn’t, and she did it without consequences. She blocked him out of her mind… Like, what kind of Boss Ass Witch?!?

20) What is the purest ship in the fandom?

Neville/Luna… Look I forking L O V E D them together and I will be bitter until the very end.

Katara for the fandom ask 🙂

First impression: I like her hair loopies and she’s really pretty for an animated character. She’s kind of bossy though. 

Impression now: She is so fierce, nurturing, powerful, scarred, determined, good-hearted, forgiving and loving. She deserves a hell of a lot better than what Bryke gave her. 

Favorite moment: When Zuko and Katara go to find Yon Rah and she stops the rain then sends the ice shards flying at Yon Rah, only stopping inches from his face. That moment really and truly displayed how powerful she was as a bender, not as a waterbender, but simply as a bender. You could even see this realisation on Zuko’s face as he stares at her. 

Idea for a story: After a few months of traveling with Aang, Katara realises that her feelings for Aang aren’t as deep or as romantic as she thought. She sees that in the way she still has to mother him and the way she feels more alone than ever, so she packs up her bags and demands he take her back home. Back at the South Pole, Katara rises as a leader as she helps rebuild her tribe and the ties they once had with the North Pole. When her people realise how strong and intelligent she is, they elect her as their chosen representation to go to the Fire Nation to discuss peace treaties and reparations. There, she reconnects with Zuko, finding that maybe she wasn’t the only one to feel lonely post-war.

Unpopular opinion: Katara deserves better than to be Aang’s Trophy Wife. She deserves to be respected and hailed as much as the other characters in Legend of Korra. She deserves to be with a husband who doesn’t neglect his kids, only to favour the one airbender in the family. 

Favorite relationship: Katara and Zuko for obvious reasons xD

Favorite headcanon: Katara fell in love with Zuko the second he took a lightning bolt to the chest for her, but she didn’t realise it for a long while.
