F is for ... paying respects? 😅😅😅 I don’t even play video games, why do I know that? I think I just spend too much time on the internet! . I’m back from Brisbane and settling back into everyday life. Teaching flourishing again tonight with my Thursday crew, so I hope they’re as excited about ovals as I am (spoiler: they are, I love this group) and gearing up for two workshops in Melbourne on 22 June - introductory miniscule, and a majuscules workshop for beginners and advanced. I feel like every workshop I teach makes me a better teacher, and I really love doing it ❤️ I mean, oh no, I have to spend a day talking about my favourite subject to people who also love it, so terrible 😂😂😂 . More fake addresses in watercolour. I love the fading in and out of watercolour if you alternately dip in water and then in paint - so pretty! . Looking forward to teaching capitals tomorrow afternoon - plus of course the beginners class in the morning. Watercolour paint on watercolour paper - I looove the fadey texture of the letters and the rough paper surface. I just want to touch it. Maybe rub my face on it a little. When you think you’re doing so well and then in the last swoop you lose it and put pressure down where you shouldn’t ... sigh. I still love writing with gouache though. It’s so smooth and creamy, and it almost never bleeds on any surface. Also, my desk is covered in palettes of it after the last few days of painting adventures, and I don’t like to waste! . I will definitely be running an intro to copperplate workshop on Sat 3 March, btw! Long shade and long hair line, the hardest combination in Roundhand. The transition from thick to thin, and again from thin to thick is such beautiful expressional art of arm movement. I took so long practice to figure out the elegant curvature of the loop.
