The theme of World Environment Day 2020 is “Celebrate Biodiversity”. Save the environment. Nurture and Cherish. We bought a hibiscus plant yesterday for our home 😊 Throwback picture taken at Kumarakom @coconutlagoon_cghearth . . . . . . . . . . #saveenvironment2020 #worldenvironmentday2020 #celebratebiodiversity #naturelover #learntocoexist #coexistence #throwbackpic #kumarakom https://www.instagram.com/p/CBDQDjIlxPe/?igshid=qk74db6m503h

#Repost from cofounder @oceanramsey testing shark deterrents with @juansharks to facilitate coexistence with the these amazing animals. Check them out to learn more about the work they’re doing! #Repost @oceanramsey ・・・ Just getting back to land after working with @rpela_surf independently testing their #sharkdetterent on #greatWhiteSharks #whitesharks #whitepointers way offshore in some of the remote parts of #Australia I love that this company is using independent unbiased researchers from around the world to help with their permitted studies and they’ve put all of their money into testing & development, not marketing. This photo is from #Guadalupe not #Australia but we did see one tagged shark during our time offshore. I think it’s important to help test deterrents because I would love to help people better #CoexistWithSharks #Sharkrepellants are no substitution for not consciously accounting for environmental conditions and your behavior (IE: Don’t spear fish in low visibility or surf in murky areas near sea lions and fishermen, etc) but in combination with human behavioral modification my hope is that more ways and technology can be developed to help offset humans somewhat confusing presence in the #ocean in #sharksterritory #rpela #rpelashark #rpelasharkdeterrant #sharkdeterrant #surfingwithsharks #sharkrepellent #sharkattack #sharkscience #itstheirocean #learntocoexist #respectsharks #respect #ocean #studysharks #helpsavesharks If you’re a marine biologist in Western Australia and are interested in helping with the studies you can email [email protected] to apply to get involved, it’s not glamours or easy or paid (so no conflict of interest) but it is important for the potential to help save lives 💙🌊

@oneoceandiving #repost Unlike humans, sharks have teeth that aren’t embedded in their gums (Meyer, 2013). This allows sharks to shed and replace their teeth as they age. The number of teeth a shark will develop and lose throughout their life varies from species to species. Larger pelagic sharks, such as great whites can have over 50,000 teeth though the duration of their ~70-year life (Hamady LL, Natanson LJ, Skomal GB, Thorrold SR, 2014). That many teeth can give people the impression that shark teeth are easily available to us in mass amounts. The truth is, the shiny white teeth commonly sold in stores came from a recently culled shark. The only shark teeth you can get without harming sharks are fossilized teeth that show up on beaches and the seafloor after naturally falling out. Say no to buying shark products! After all, wouldn’t it be weird if we dipped our fins into the water and there were sharks wearing necklaces with human teeth dangling from them? #learntocoexist 📸 by @juansharks Post by @elainewyattt __________________________ Check us out at OneOceanDiving.com & JOIN US in the water in #Hawaii on #Oahu #NorthShore to #SwimWithSharks and #DiveWithSharksInHawaii with a trained #MarineBiologist / #SharkSafetyDiver Check out our #Shark and #MarineResearch @OneOceanResearch and our #Education outreach program @OneOceanEducation #LearnAboutSharks and our Non-Profit @Waterinspired conservation group and Founders: @Juansharks and @OceanRamsey Want to join the team?
