To anyone who wants to talk: What is the strangest thing you’ve seen or done since joining the Edges?

[after several false starts, subject shrugs and gives up]

I got an aerial view of the Trydusian V incident. Seeing a factory tear itself apart and rebuild itself into a heretek the size of an Imperial Titan was..one of the stranger things I had seen. I um..I still rather wish I hadn’t. Still! Alls well that ends well!

It’s gonna sound weird. One time I on…Dwimlict , I fink I was backing through tha jungle,making sure the bugs I’d been foightin’ weren’t followin’ me., when I backs into an ork doin’ the same fing.Well, obvioslly I’m gonna crump him, roight? But eez slick. Neither of uz can land a decent fump. Our shootaz iz spent, we’ve both bin disarmed and we’re just avvin a real proper punch up. Next fing I know dis voice -not an orky voice- comes over iz radio telling im ��this isn’t the pick up location’ and ‘to come back to the ship’. Not just goffik, but ‘igh goffik. I’m just standin’ dere like a lemon wondering wots appening  when ee point at me and ee says, and I swear this iz troo. ee says:“This is not over. I will see you again.”

I wouldn’t say the strangest , what with all the inky work we do. But it was something that even years down the track I keep getting back to as a time I was really caught off guard and still have no explanation for it.So, I’ve been in the unit maybe a month. I know Zune, naturally, but not really anyone else. There’s a voxman, Firch who’s sorta bonded with me and showing me around when we come to the upper decks.

We see this short girl, with the hood and everything - the one that’s always at the elbow of the commissar, and she’s just leaning against a wall, looking a little lost in thought.Firch elbows me and says ‘you gotta see this’ and starts walking over to her. Now - I don’t claim to know a whole lot , but I DON’T go near psykers unless I have a very good reason. Firch assures me it’s all good - that she’s barely a psyker and then he punches the wall next to her, making her jump.She looks kinda wide eyed pissed about it and Firch starts leaning close and poking her cheek. Saying stuff like “aaaw no sparks for me today? Not gonna blow some bulbs for my buddy here?” before like, jabbing her in the ribs and trying to spook her some more. 

I’m terrified at this point. I’m about to say something when suddenly, this little psyker girl lets out this..this I dunno..battle cry? And she just PASTES him. Like, one of his teeth flies out and everything. He hits the deck and she’s just on him like a madwoman, just kicking the absolute shit out of him and working the ribs. For a second there, I wonder if she’s possessed and I go for my side arm, but then she starts actually talking. Well, yelling:“ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR TINY FUCKING MIND HARASSING A PSYKER?! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA ANY IDEA HOW UNBELIEVABLY DANGEROUS THAT IS?! YOU ABSOLUTE FUCKING DIPSHIT PRICK!! YOU DO THAT AGAIN - YOU THINK ABOUT DOING THAT AGAIN AND I WILL CUT YOUR FUCKING BEAN BAG OFF AND FEED IT TO YOU!!”

She smooths herself off and is going to leave when he mutters something about telling the commissar about her. She come storming back and grabs him by the collar, hissing through her teeth. “Yeah, tell her you little shit. Tell her. You don’t even KNOW what an ass kicking is yet.” and then she storms off proper.Now…I’ve worked with that psyker, Boone quite a bit over the years and…even when she’s in the thick of it I ain’t never seen her go beserk like that. Or be that rude to like, anyone. It might be a psyker thing. I’ve never really been game to ask her about it. If she don’t bring it up, and Firch don’t bring it up - I sure as shit wont.

I think…I think the first time I accidentally switched bodies with the commissar might have been right up there. There’s not really anything as weird as that. It’s odd. Uncomfortable.

It was over a week before either of us could make eye contact with the other.[uncomfortable shudder]

It’s been quiet, which is nice.

The fen mushrooms I’ve been growing should be good to harvest. They’re poisonous if raw, but if you cook them all the way through, they taste a bit like navy beans. Still a little tough - but it’s got potential.

I’m top shelf, same as usual! And how are you?

None of my little ones has scraped their knees, today.

I feel better than you look. I mean, that’s not saying much - but it’s a start.

Pretty decent. Quiet. Might even go down to the gymnarium. Do a little maintenance.
