This is an open event and you do not need to sign-up to participate. All ages may participate. You do not need a Tumblr to participate. 

Content You Can Make:

Fanfic, fanart, imagines, fanvids, gif sets, cosplay, playlists, podfics, physical crafts, mood boards, headcanons, meta, etc. Any sort of original fan content is allowed. 

🍃🌸 Rules 🌸🍃

1) Content must be centered around LeeSaku as a ship. Content that has LeeSaku as a background or side pairing to a different primary pairing is not allowed. Platonic interpretations of LeeSaku is allowed, as long as the focus is on their relationship/bond.

2) Only original and new fanwork is accepted. The purpose of this event is to encourage new LeeSaku content to be created. (If you have an existing WIP that hasn’t seen the light of day, that is no problem! Same for works where you have shared small snippets but haven't shared the completed work.)

3) If your work is triggering, sensitive, or contains NSFW, adult content, or dark content it must be appropriately tagged/warned or it won’t be reblogged. If your work is being hosted on Tumblr, please hide the triggering/adult content below a ‘read more’ tag. 

4) Minors cannot create adult content for this event and should not interact with adult content of this event. (To assist with this, a special tag that can be filtered out will be put on certain reblogged posts: "#leesakuweek: mature")

4) Respect the content creators that participate in this event. Any notes or tags that include rude comments, direct or indirect threats will not be tolerated. Bullies will be blocked by the event blog.

5) Content for this event must not be posted before the starting date.

How to post your work on Tumblr:

1) List the day and prompt you are using in your post for the Daily Prompt. If also working off the Bonus Bingo Board, list what prompt you are using off of there too.

2) Tag @leesakuweek somewhere in the body of your post and tag #LeesakuWeek2023 within the first five tags.

3) Apply a read-more cut to lengthy posts. Posts that contain sensitive/trigger warning content, dark or adult content must be clearly labeled and contained beneath the read-more cut.

4) For fanworks that are shared on Tumblr via an AO3/FFN link: please also include the summary, rating of the piece, and any trigger/content warnings in the body of your post. If sharing an excerpt that contains sensitive content, please put it beneath a read-more cut.

How to participate on another platform:

Post your work to whichever platform you’re using, and then send it to us by using our submit post form. Please do make sure to list the prompt you’re using and any content warnings that might apply. Alternatively, you can also submit the details of your submission in an anon ask and we will format and post it for you!

Posting to AO3:

An AO3 collection is available to post your works to: click here. (Psst! Did you know that fanart can be posted in AO3 too?) Please tag your submission with "LeeSaku Week 2023" on AO3.

Sharing Your Works:

We will be reblogging any works posted to Tumblr, and posting any works submitted via our submit post form or asks. 

🍃🌸FAQ🌸🍃

- Are the Daily Prompts mandatory, or can I write something else if I am struggling to come up with an idea?

The Daily Prompts are mandatory. You can reach out to the Tumblr page if you need help brainstorming! Trust us that you can make the prompts as flexible to your idea as you want! (Hint: We do allow you to use the same prompt more than once, which means you can label your work(s) as "Day 1: Free Day" for the entirety of the event if truly none of the prompts speak to you.)

- Do we have to include both of the Daily Prompts?

No. It’s up to you whether you do one or both. If you wish, you can create a piece for each individual prompt, create a piece including both prompts, or just do one.

-Can I just work exclusively off the Bonus Bingo Board?

Yes, however you still need to label your work with one of the Daily Prompts. "Day 1: Free Day" can be used multiple times if your work(s) doesn't match any of the other Daily Prompts.

- Is there a minimum word count for fanfics or requirements for art and other creations?

Nope! Even if it's just a snippet of a fic you plan to later expand or WIP sketch you did in your notebook in five minutes and took a poor-lighting photo of, we'll accept it. 👍

- Are late entries accepted?

Yes. Late entries will be accepted for up to 3 weeks after the event end date (April 16th) for consideration of any event blog post thanks towards participants or Champion role awards, but we will continue to reblog any late entries until the last day of spring (June 20th).

- What if I can't complete my work by the late entry period?

Share a snippet of a cleaned up portion of a WIP fic, or what you have drawn so far, etc., by the late entry period. You're welcome to mention it is incomplete and that viewers can check your blog out at a later date for completion. But if you can get it done before the last day of spring (June 20th) we'll still reblog it!

- Is it okay if my submission to this event is also for another event?

Yep!

- Are background pairings allowed?

Yep! Lee and Sakura can even be in romantic relationships with other people, but you must emphasize the bond specifically between Lee and Sakura in your work (for example, if writing platonic LeeSaku, or involving poly ships, etc).

- Can I post an unfinished, multi-chapter work?

Yes, as long as you post the first chapter within the event period, you are welcome to post unfinished works to this event. You do not need to complete the unfinished work by the event end and can update it at your leisure.  A new work in an already existing series is also acceptable.

-Is NSFW, adult content, and dark content allowed?

Yes. It is the intention of this event to not put restrictions on objectionable content and instead put the responsibility in the hands of participants and viewers to not interact with content that they consider upsetting. Just make sure that if you share it on Tumblr, it does not break Tumblr's Community Guidelines (if it does, censor the Tumblr post and have an outside link to the uncensored work). As mentioned, make sure you include ample trigger warnings on these submissions and hide the sensitive/adult content below a read-more cut.

-What if I want to include my event submission as a unique one-shot in a giant multi-fandom/multi-ship AO3 fic?

This is not allowed because these types of fics are typically hard to navigate and find the relevant content. Please make a separate fic for your event submission. (You are allowed to group your LeeSaku one-shots together in a single fic if every single chapter pertains to this event.)

- What if I have other questions?

Please send a message or an ask to this event page. If you would like us to reply privately, please let us know in your ask, and make sure that you are not on anon.

Childhood friends continued.

It was her hard work and talent that made the Academy teachers put Sakura forward for early graduation. Lee and her celebrated with a vigorous spar.

Because if she manages to graduate this time around, her and Lee might just end up on the same team!

"Team 3! Rock Lee, Sakura Haruno-"

Lee interrupts the sensei with a cheer, "Yosh! We're teammates, Sakura-chan!"

"-and Neji Hyuga."

And Lee wilts a little because Neji... Neji doesn't like Lee. Not one bit.

But Lee wouldn't let that sour-puss Hyuga ruin his good cheer! He's on the same team as Sakura-chan! With Sakura by his side, he could do anything!

We have a Bonus Bingo Board to go with the Daily Prompts if you want to make things a little more interesting. This part of the event is optional.

For each Daily Prompt you complete, you can check off one box off the Bonus Bingo Board! Turn in your Bonus Bingo Board to us at the end of the event if you complete a whole row!

(Are things getting hard trying to match the Daily Prompts with the Bingo Board boxes? As a hint, we left an exploit in the rules so you may use Day 1’s Free Day or any other prompt multiple times if you wish.)

Daily Prompt Champion & Bingo Board Champion

If you are able to create something for each one of the seven Daily Prompt days, you will be awarded the title of Daily Prompt Champion. If you get at least five in a row in the Bonus Bingo Board, you will be awarded the title of Bingo Board Champion (and extra bragging rights if you get more than one row complete).

For both titles, we will create a showcase post of all of your work you submitted for the event and tag it as “#leesakuweek champions” where there will always be a part of the blog to show you off. If you wish, in this post we can also plug any of your socials or anything else you wish to show our support and appreciation. :)

Got this little au in my head that if sakura married rock lee they would've built one of the strongest clans around and became famous for their strength, and that little dojo lee had in that one filler would've became an actual established dojo with many students that would come and learn taijutsu at (accommodated for both shinobis and civilians) and I think that would've been like. Fuckin sick 🍻

Hell yeah!! 💪

With their scary strength combined it is only natural they would become the strongest family/clan

I know we also have that awesome Shippuden dojo fight ending where we have Lee all dressed up for it - I would LOVE to see Sakura in a dojo outfit too. She would look so good. 🤩

I love the detail of opening the dojo to civilians too.

Ahhh I'm a lil shy about this but I'm really excited for this event 😭 I don't know why but out of all the ships I really fell in love with leesaku!!! They have a lot of parallels that could be expanded upon (flower symbolism, coming from non-clans, hard work/admiration, healing, weaknesses and strengths, affects of bullying, breaking out of their shells, etc) which imo would've been very beneficial for both characters in their development and could've (honestly) been one of the deepest and most influential relationships in shounen anime. I tbh thought they'd end up together simply from how their character designs complimented each other and just from their interactions (seriously, "I will protect you till death do us part". Come on 💀) and how he pretty much catalysed the growth of sakura in that blooms episode. I also adore the dork/hot-headed and injury-prone/medic dynamic sjsjsj. Not that I mind sasusaku since it's interesting in its own way too but this would've been a more healthier alternative imo!!

Ahhhhh their parallels is something I love about them too and you listed every single one that I adore! I can't help but think about how much they could relate to each other and bond over these similarities they have, especially in regards to their childhood bullying and struggles to find strength as shinobi. (Billboard-brow and Bushy-brows? C'mon. A match made in heaven.) I too wish it could have been explored and I think you're right that if they did they could have ended up being an iconic bond across shonen. Ah, it hurts to imagine what could have been. </3

As a kid I was also convinced they were end game because of how well their color schemes worked together and how significant their bond was during the Chunin Exams. xD I imagine you were just as confused as me when Lee faded into the background right after and you also sat around waiting for Lee and Sakura to interact meaningfully again lol.

I am also totally a sucker for the healer/injury-prone dynamic, and specifically how they have a 'he promises to protect her from danger' while 'she uses her hot-headedness to protect him from being bullied (because he's too polite for his own good)' dynamic.

Thank you for the fic recommendations! (And for listing my fic as a favorite of yours. :') It means a lot!) For anyone else stumbling across this post - try and spread the love by giving the fics a chance and leave a comment to make the creators' day! :) I know I definitely will.

Oh boy!! Hmmm why I ship LeeSaku.. the first episode I watched of Naruto (back when I was 12!) was the episode where Lee saved Sakura in the forest of death. I was like, “wow! This guy protects the girl he loves, what a gentleman!” Since then, I’ve just always loved them together. I always felt like they would make each other feel happy and safe. They support each other, they both work hard with little to no special ninja powers, they worry about each other! I’ll always be salty that their friendship/potential relationship got tossed in the trash, but this ship will always be my number one muse🥹

What a great first episode of Naruto to start on hehe. That was also the episode that got me first shipping it too back when I was a pre-teen. 

I agree, they do such a great job supporting each other ever since that scene! They always specifically cheered each other on and worried over each other during the rest of the Chunin Exams (not to mention Sakura’s overprotectiveness), and I do really love that anime-only scene in the beginning of Shippuden where Lee is inspired by Sakura’s growth and uses that to defeat his clone copy. 

I was also bummed that we didn’t get any more of them together afterwards. You’re right they have a lot in common with them working so hard without any special ninja powers to make things easier for themselves, and I do love that Sakura told Lee he helped her bloom!  

And I always thought Lee would give Sakura the adoring affection she always wanted too. <3

LeeSaku will also always be my #1 :’)
