T-Minus 200 Days Showcase Bonus Round!

With the current fan favorites out of the way, and the day coming to an end, I think it's time to post two bonus sprites... just for fun!! We thought you guys might enjoy these two, at least on a technical level. One is delightful, and one is new.

Here we have...

Cynical Itinerant, our Witch of Doom. Though his name speaks for itself, that's definitely not his only character trait! In fact, he's quicker to start a conversation about just how much Respecting Women juice he drinks daily than he is about his... Well, itinerancy. His programming skill are leet, and so is his fluency in long dead languages. Hailing from the far-off land of Wolftopia, this non-threatening male feminist is simply dying to tell you about his mad haxx and rad jams. He would fucking hate the wording on this description!

Dynama Zarrow, one of our two Maids of Space. She's a sheltered small-town devout Christian girl whose community is her life. She wants nothing more than for things to stay as they are, with her place in this world so helpfully defined by those around her... Though a dear friend has roped her into the pure anarchy that is participating in a session without either of them realizing what exactly that entails... How will she cope? Who knows!

CynTin's sprite was interesting to make. I don't think I've ever seen someone draw a Carapacian in the Player Sprite style! It was shockingly easy to do, all things considered. Dynama was also pretty easy, we're showing her off here because she's just plain adorable.

I mean, I wouldn’t mind if I were in Roxy’s shoes. Then again, I’ve always kind of wanted to be a mother, but don’t plan to because I can’t handle the responsibility and stress of parenthood, so this is kind of like have the first thing but not the second thing!

#30dayswchallenge Day 26: Skills & Talents

What non-combat skills does your OC have? What ‘crew skills’ do they have? Why? Are they something your crew does or do you consider it something your OC knows? Does your OC have any particular talents, such as singing or dancing? What skill/talent does your OC lack that they wish they had?

Ingame, I believe Eirn's crew skills are slicing, scavenging, and bioanalysis. IC... rofl. I don't think she'd pass for competent at any of the crew skills, so they are absolutely things that her crew does for her.

However, ICly, she would have a smattering of archaeological knowledge she absorbed from her mother, osmosis-style. Utterly useless in her day to day life, but she'd still have it.

Vette has tried on multiple occasions to teach her basic slicing skills. Emphasis on tried. Suffice to say she is not going to be hacking the GFFA any time soon.

It's not a talent per se but Eirn is an accomplished cook, primarily because she enjoys food and is stubborn enough that she keeps trying niggly recipes until she gets them right.

As mentioned elsewhere, as a child, Eirn wanted nothing more than to be an opera singer, and actually took vocal classes as an angry teenager - in defiance of her mother and Darth Orsus's attempts to get her to focus on her studies in the Force. She was talented, too, and could probably have gotten somewhere with it, had she not injured her throat pushing herself too far too fast (being forced to push herself too far too fast) with the Force. Her throat healed and her voice came back - eventually - but by the time she could sing again, she'd been out of the loop for long enough that entry to an Arts-focused Academy was out of the question, not without seriously delaying her becoming Sith - and by that stage she just wanted to get the fuck away from Adessa. (reason n that Eirn has a longstanding hatred of Darth Orsus, and a complicated relationship with her mother). She is still a skilled vocalist but between one thing and another she very, very rarely sings when she knows she's got an audience, any more.

In part through osmosis from her parents and in part from her love of the opera, Eirn is fluent in High Sith, even if she mostly just uses it to swear creatively, and is versed enough in the Adessan vulgar dialect to hold a reasonable conversation - even if she's of the opinion that nothing said by someone who insists on speaking Sith over Basic can possibly be reasonable. She can read both the modern Sith language and (sort of) Pre-Reconstitution High Sith, although only one of these ever used in day-to-day life, and that's mostly as a sign of who to avoid. Half the reason she fared so well at Dresdae was coasting by on her grasp of the Sith languages (and sucking up to the appropriate Overseers). (The other half was when she murdered Tremel's pet protégé, though she's not convinced that well is a word that can be applied to any of that clusterfuck)

She's also semi-competent in florigraphy - most useless skill ever, unless you're a giant theatre nerd. Or just a giant nerd trying to subtly flirt with someone who is already taken.

Skills she wishes she had: the ability to use words without fucking up what she's trying to say and/or simultaneously jamming her foot down her throat. She's forever quietly in awe of Vette's leet haxx. She also desperately envies Jaesa's (and her mother's) fine motor control when it comes to manipulating things with the Force. (protip, eirn: stop approaching it like a sledgehammer)

since I learnt how to use firebug I've stopped automatically going "nope" when I want to read a tumblr but the text's a weird colour and it's got animated sparkly shit in the background, and started manually tweaking that stuff.

problem if you have to change it again on every page. is there... a way to automate that?

(if you do not know how to do this manually and want to lemme know, it's a cool skill!)

So I wanted to know how easy it'd be to get a basic understanding of Java programming, for totally not minecraft mod related reasons, only I looked up stuff about Javascript by accident.

this website is weirdly compelling though and also the Javascript looks approximately three million times less obfuscatory and tedious, so I might just continue faffing around with it in the idea that website putting-together skills are really cool and useful.
