Now, everybody, if you want to turn your attention to the right, at them bit green pearly gates, this is 1132 Royal Street, home of the most infamous party ever thrown in New Orleans. This is where two dozen members of high society, they walked in them doors right there. Ain't nobody ever seen them again. Take a picture if you need to. The year is 1940. The man that owned this townhome and that year's King of Raj went by the name Sebastian Melmoth. Now, now, history's going have him go down as a little somethin' different. A Monsieur Lesander Lioncourt. He was a so-called Frenchman. A so-called seller of industrial machinery. But now tell me, tell the Crime Dawg, why would a man, a known hoarder and an infamous recluse be named King of Raj in the first place? Why, Crime Dawg? Sebastian knew a fella by the name of Tom Anderson. He was a former Louisiana State Representative and a full-time Bourbon Street gangster.

after the IWTV s2 finale, I have decided that in universe buzzfeed unsolved true crime did an episode on the 1132 Royal Street Murders and took the tour

Ryan: Lioncourt also caused quite a stir when his Mardi Gras performance had him dress as a vampire... and bite the head off a baby doll in front of the crowd!

Shane: (wheeze) I fuckin love this guy

Ryan: yeah, i figured you would

Ryan: It should be noted that the identity of the young girl living with Louis de Pointe du Lac is hotly debated by experts. Many believe she was the illegitimate daughter of either Louis' deceased brother Paul, Lesander Lioncourt, or possibly Louis himself. Others believe she was an orphan whom Louis adopted, teaching her magic to assist in his rituals. Others still believe she may have been- to put it as delicately as I can here- Louis' child bride!

Shane: NO

Ryan: Yeah, I, uh-

Shane: DON'T LIKE THAT. No no no no NO.

Ryan: For whatever it's worth... there's no real solid evidence that's true, it's just sometimes brought up when people are... Basically no one, at the time or since, could figure out who the hell this kid was or why she was there. And this is just one theory.

Shane: I like the... you said earlier a lot of people thought Louis was gay, right?

Ryan: Yeah, uh, it's another popular theory, mostly cause he never married-

Shane: outside of his possible child bride

Ryan: outside of his... (wheeze)

Shane: is child marriage funny to you, Ryan?

Ryan: no it's not funny to me! Just the way you said that- (wheeze)

Shane: Oh LAUGH IT UP

Ryan: anyway, there's also speculation that Louis and a friend of his may have been a thing, but he also apparently had a girlfriend for awhile, so who knows.

Shane: if we assume he's gay, I like the secretly his niece theory. I also like the orphan off the streets theory, adopting a scrappy young orphan to assist you in your creepy magical bullshit seems... very whimsical!

Ryan: 24 people died, Shane, is that whimsical to you?!

Shane: I mean... you said most of 'em were racist, so.

Ryan: our final theory posits that Louis, Lesander, and possibly other guests at that fateful Mardi Gras party... were actually vampires!

(pause)

Shane: no.

Ryan: now I know it sounds crazy-

Shane: NO, Ryan.

Ryan: but if you look at the newspapers and crime reports in New Orleans at the time-

Shane: This was the crime-iest time in history! Axeman, remember him? Cleveland Torso Killer, man! Al Capone! Bonnie and Clyde! People got murdered left and right by all kinds of freaks!

Ryan: ......right, but if you look at this headstone-

Armandaniel rec list

Hello freaks and freak-adjacent! I thought it might be a cool idea to put together a little rec list of IWTV fics that I feel could be a good intro/primer to the Devil's Minion pairing for people who are fans of the show and Armandaniel-curious.

Of course my preferences won't be universal (I'm not a major gore/heavy angst girlie), so feel free to reblog with your own recs ;)

Here's my two favorite post-Dubai fics, with what a lot of the fandom imagines happens with Armand's disappearance/Daniel's turning/book shenanigans:

In the aftermath of Louis and Armand’s explosive divorce, Daniel manages to leave the Dubai penthouse unscathed and very much human. Now, the only thing he has to worry about is releasing the damn book and stopping people from calling it fiction. It is not fiction. There’s also the matter of the vampire following him around America, because apparently he needs a bodyguard and Armand is the right guy for the job. That’s just something Daniel will have to roll with.

It’s just - anticlimactic. New York Times Bestselling Blue Balls of a conclusion to the Armand of it all. He can picture the pierced graduate students at his indie bookstore readings now; their dubious, unsatisfied frowns of so, what, he just sat there? And you just left?

day 3 of missing my baby girl Lesander Lioncourt

My fav moment of the season finale was Louis going on a tour and hearing all the wild legends that happened in his home, and the stories that changed and shifted. Just him smiling like

“Sebastian malmoth….Lesander lioncort….i mean I can see how lestat turns into…alright….got the industrial machinery merchant part right sure….oh so Claudia became my child bride…ew..that was our daughter but alright…voodoo cult….thats a new one…that’s…wait I don’t even have a name? Just creole hustler? Rude ass-“

I have watched the last episode of iwtv and my final thoughts are: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

(Serious thoughts and spoilers under the cut)

I can see why people had issues with the pacing but I also got a lot of the ep spoiled for me so I wasn't going in with super fresh eyes so... bit of a grain of salt. I liked the pacing I think it worked for me and knowing we have a next season I'm OK with the plot points they left for next season. It's so crazy how much Louis has had to endure from the hands of Armand like this is crazy. Literally left to die and DID. like that's insane... to me. Also Nicki being born in 1769, 9 years after lestat, and he died in 1796 making him 27 when he died. He's a part of the 27 club like that's freaky

The loustat reunion made me cry and I loved the ghost story about Mardi Gras 1940, especially Lestats name being changed to lesander. I think I coulda gotten more Louis as blade but I think the amount we got worked very well. I like that we didn't see the turning of Daniel I thought it was a good reveal and I really liked seeing the changed Louis has made to better his life post Armand. Overall very good episode. So sorry this isn't in my usual live blog format I was watching with the boyfriend and I got so engrossed I forgot.
