what is the education system like in boisvert? did/would the characters go to uni and what would they study ^_^

hi jules :-) basically there's no set school system in fairyland - children are taught by their communities. those who wish to further pursue academia can choose to attend the few universities and lyceums scattered throughout the mainland, most of whom are situated in quagmire! areas of study here have mostly to do with the science of magic, which is largely predicated upon physics.

of the main cast, valerie does very badly want to become a scholar of a particular branch of magic! andrias has multiple books published and attended a university prior to his imprisonment, and braughen was a professor of psychometry for many years.

what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?

that's a loaded question lmao. ummmmm i would say [minor trauma dump tw ig???] 1) stopping three su!cides b4 i turned 19; 2) growing up in nature and not directly in a city or town; 3) being raised by an english major. number one made me confident in almost any crisis situation but also gave me anxiety and often makes me step into situations when i'm not actually needed. number two means i will forever be happier outside of the city long-term. number three means i'm a chronic book collector and love to over-analyze any piece of media for funzies

8. any reacquiring dreams?

i thought this q was about reoccurring dreams--like when you sleep--but noah of whalefill fame answered it more in terms of life goals. i'll just do both. i frequently dream at night of my old elementary school (casually, it's a reoccurring location) and storms/tornadoes (usually when i'm stressed). my goal in life has always been to be a teacher and a parent, but recently i've loosened my grip on both of those dreams--not given up on them, just made them more flexible.

12. what’s some good advice you want to share?

ugh i'm FULL of good unwarranted advice. hmmm lets see

spite is a valid motivator

you know yourself more than anyone else, but the people around you can help you learn & explore yourself if they're kind and respectful with you

college is not all it's hyped up to be, american-wise. if you're unsure but want to give it a shot start in a tech school and get your primaries done with a BA--usually takes about two years. it'll give you time to figure out what to do next, it's cheaper, and usually the credits can transfer to another program. otherwise, truly just wait until you're ready.

be kind to people you don't know. smile and wave, say good morning, hold the door, crack an easy joke. i've been doing this my whole life pretty much and it pays off 95% of the time. it makes you happier, it makes the other person happier, and it gives both of you the confidence you need to pass it along.

capitalism is the problem 85% of the time

community is the solution 85% of the time

engage in your local community if you can, even if they don't match up 100% with your ideals & situation. scary thing to say online but i'm sticking with it.

apply to jobs you aren't qualified for. half the time they genuinely don't care. also, walk into businesses and ask--i've have much better luck doing that than using sites like indeed

what are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?

"things" is such a broad term idrk if im interpreting the question correctly. but 3 formative experiences for me are:

1) realizing i liked girls when i was 11. which is so obvious it almost isnt worth saying but like definitely would not be the person i am today without it lol

2) going to music camp when i was 13 which made me realize that i actually like doing music and playing in an orchestra and 2 years later at the same camp i would meet some people who remain v important in my life to this day <3

3) shaving my head after my first semester of college. like it took a little longer for my masc era to fully start but i really had no idea how much fucking effort performing femininity took and how unhappy it made me until i just stopped fucking doing it

15. what do you think of when you hear the word “home”?

my friends <33, the town i grew up in, the music camp i talked about in the last question, my siblings, the swing that used to be in my backyard, lying on the grass and reading on a nice day

22. say 3 things about someone you love

was scared of getting this one bc it means i have to both pick someone i love and publicly compliment them which might make me break out in hives. um (if u see this and know who im talking about dont show this to her it's all nice im just embarrassed)

1) really really cares about what she wants to do with her life in a way i wish that i could

2) is very similar to me in a way that makes me sad bc we have the same problems :/

3) wish i read as much nonfiction as she does! i really admire the way she like. actually goes out of her way to seek out information about the world
