100 of my favorite rock, punk, and metal adjacent (-core) releases since 2010, limited to two per artist. i feel like the top of this list is pretty typical, but there was a point around the middle of last decade where i stopped paying as much attention to newer bands popping up since i just wasn't finding a ton of stuff that grabbed me. despite me going back later on and listening to a lot of the stuff i missed i don't have as strong of a connection to some of it as i do bands i've been listening to 15+ years. there's actually been a handful of artists putting out music in the last few years though that have helped reignite that spark and helped push me to seek out anything i might have overlooked - shout out to brutus, the armed, greyhaven, soul glo, state faults, shin guard, blood command, blind girls, callous daoboys, dreamwell, frontierer, crowning, frail hands, nuvolascura, portrayal of guilt, senza, and vein.fm to name a few. as always, if anyone reading this has any recommendations feel free to send them my way. it's always appreciated. i don't paint hockey players anymore (i painted them for 5 years straight lmfao) so i've been gravitating towards painting portraits of musicians or literally anybody other than hockey players. here's a painting i recently finished of jason aalon butler from fever 333/letlive. i found letlive. when i was 16 and was instantly hooked. thank you tumblr for introducing me to them, and i wish i would've been able to see them live. even though ll. broke up 5 years ago they dethroned a day to remember as my favorite band (fuck ADTR forever) even though ll. was a very close second in my heart in high school anyways lmao.
