According to midrash, the golden calf only lasted two days. It was made on the sixteenth of Tammuz and destroyed on the eighteenth. On the seventeenth, the faction of Israelites who had demanded it held a festival of worship for the calf with singing and music so loud that Moshe and Yehoshua heard it from the mountain, and Yehoshua thought it was the sound of a battle.

Moshe rushed down the mountain, having been warned by HaShem that the people had made an idol. When he arrived in the camp and saw the golden calf for himself he was so distressed that he shattered the stone tables that HaShem had written the covenant on, and organized the Levites into a posse to kill the ringleaders of the idol worship.

Then, on the eighteenth of Tammuz, Moshe had the golden calf ground into powder and mixed with water and told the people to drink it as a punishment for participating in its creation. While gold is edible and nontoxic (unlike lead, or mercury, or a number of other substances) it cannot have been pleasant to ingest.

Yesterday, we remembered the Roman army breaking through the last defensive barrier protecting the bitterly divided, starving, fearful population of Jerusalem in 3830. Today, we rewind over a thousand years to the Jewish people at Sinai choking on the consequences of their communal transgression of their new promise to HaShem. We are a chosen people but that is not a free pass. We fall short of the promises we’ve made, and sometimes the consequences are disastrous. We’re not shielded from the ills of the world or the hatred others have. We’re called to act differently, to strive to shape a world free from oppression and violence, but so often we fail. We too are prone to worshipping power instead of choosing justice and compassion.

During these three weeks, may we consider the costs of our misdeeds and the costs of the status quo, and destroy the idols of our own time that we’ve let into our hearts.

Fiery Festivities

The Midsummer Fire Festival returned to Stormwind once again and Sam, having always been the free spirit, couldn't resist the celebrations. Music filled the air, mixing into a roaring cacophony of excited shouts from festival-goes as they watched the performances of torch jugglers and fire breathers. The massive Stormwind bonfire raged as the flame guardians feed logs into the metal basin.

Without hesitation, Sam made her way over to the ribbon pole and joined the other dancers. As the music swelled, she twirled and spun around the pole with the ribbon held high, gracefully moving in sync with the other dancers. Her long hair flowed behind her as she moved and the long skirt levitated in the breeze.

As the coda played each dancer let their ribbon fall and caught their breath. Sam laughed with a joyful smile as the child who danced with them kept flailing their ribbon despite the music fading. Collecting the brunette tresses into a loose ponytail, she heaved a few breaths and fanned her face, having worked up a bit of a sweat in the summer heat.

Searching for a cool drink Sam glanced around the festival area before spotting the family of Draenei off to the side offering hydration to parched festival-goes through means of a funny-looking totem. Before making her way, she noticed the gaze of a younger man who had watched her dance. They shared a small smile between them, acknowledging the other before Sam's lips twisted into a devious smirk. With a wink, she vanished into the crowd and kept her eyes forward to leave the mystery of whether or not the man would pursue her.

Was floating and levitating around a music festival which was also attached to a medieval type faire of some sort. It was very enjoyable until I eventually awoke within the dream to look down at a horrifying white/blue silicone type substance growing on my torso and chest. I tried to peel it off but I could sense it was causing me pain even though I couldn’t feel it. I could hear someone off in the distance screaming in pain. I rise up half clothed in a state of panic as I try to find someone to help me. I swiftly walk down a wide, stone-clad outdoor courtyard, I look down towards my upper left shoulder just above my heart and there is an open wound that has some sort of protrusion that is pushing out and then I look down at my abdomen just to the right of my navel and there is another protrusion and with every step my guts spill out ever so slightly and I try to prevent that from happening by pressing my hand down, but I know it is not helping. I find myself awake from the dream a second time. In this instance, I am laying on my back looking down at the end of my bed and I am at the end of a long hallway that is decorated in a Tudor style with cathedral sized ceilings. I immediately hear something hiss my name and a shadowy thin figure springs up at my feet and in a flash races around to my pillow and I can feel it’s presence right against my face even though I have firmly shut my eyes. This entity is grabbing at my hand trying to chew off one of my fingers but out of sheer panic I instinctually realize that I am still dreaming and kick my feet up and down in a rhythmic motion to time a jolt which brings me back into the waking world. End of dream.

Christmas at Cartoon Network Villains Club (Christmas Special Dream Story)

[I dreamt about spending Christmas Eve at a club made for Cartoon Network villains, however the portals to their universes were frostbitten so the host/owner of the club decided to celebrate their Christmas with a party]

Today was Christmas Eve at the Cartoon Network Villains Club, the inside is showering lots of snow across the studio and many of the rooms. Many of the Cartoon Network's villains are seated, clapping and cheering to their valuable host and club's owner; Lord Ego! "That's the end every villain and thank you very much for spending a wonderful Christmas Eve with us prideful demons. And having a safe trip to your ho, ho, homes!" says Lord Ego, joyfully at the guests! As everyone heads back to their universes, Ego was in backstage with his small imp minions. "Great work our pridefulness" says the female imp. "With everyone heading home, we can now celebrate our Christmas together my lord" says the male imp! Then their new guest Flicky came in and said, worryingly "Lord Ego, They can't go back home" "How?" asks Lord Ego "The portals to their universes appear to be frostbitten" says the receptionist imp pointing at the entrance. "Now my dear, how bad can I really be" says Lord Ego while walking past the villains until they are in front of them and they stopped and said "Oh..." The portals of the universes the villains live in are all frostbitten, meaning they are all stuck in forever. "Damn it!" says Father, facepalmed. "Well, my delightful children. Guess we couldn't go back to mansion to celebrate our Christmas" says Father, by his Delightful Children. The villains think for a minute until Lord Ego thought of something, something that can help the villains enjoy their Christmas... together! "I have an amazing idea my loyal ones!" Then Lord Ego jumps and levitates himself with a grinny smile, saying to everyone "We all can celebrate our jolly Christmas party right here" "Good one Lord Ego!" says Cree, as everyone heads back to the main studio.

Then it cuts back to the main studio all decorated festively and Christmas music playing. "Hot cocoa and cookies, comin right up fellas" one of the serving imps says, by carrying a stack of plates with white mugs of hot cocoa. Then the imps set up the tree and one of them sets the fireplace and they ask one of the villains for help "Hey Father! Would you light this baby up?" "Well... alright!" Father shrugs it, then unleashes a snap of his fingers, making into a flame, and then he releases his flame at the fireplace. Then many of the imp minions carry over the tree and decorate it with tinsels, baubles and the bright, shining star on the top! "Everything's is all decorated festively for the day, villains!" Ego responds, with joy in his villainous heart. "Hey, our Lord!" An technician imp peeks out on the studio's control room. They asked "Want me to set up the videos for them to watch to?" "Happy to, my delightful minion. Start it up!" Ego replies.

With a couple enjoying the entertainment of many videos playing, and chattering around eachother brings the year's loyal and honourable friendships with the guests

I’ve been so busy with work that it hasn’t felt super festive this year but I’m just picturing sunshine being super stressed with work or finals and other things going on and then getting to spend the holidays at h’s cottage like:((( I just know he loves the holidays so much since getting to be with her:( like she’s not feeling super into it so he’s bringing her to the forest by his house and looking for a little tree and they find the perfect one so he’s thanking it for making his sunshine happy before bringing it into the house and tucking it into a corner by his bedroom and he’s stringing lights on the branches as she’s putting a record on:( and he’s stringing the extra lights all over his house and tucking little garlands on top of cabinets and wherever it’ll fit:( and he’s lifting her up to put ornaments on the taller branches and to put a little homemade star on the top:( and he’s showing her how to dry out orange slices and cinnamon sticks to make the house smell all christmassy and stringing them around the tree as a garland:( so they spend some quiet time together with the girls and making them some special festive treats while they’re having their dinner and spoiling them with love:( and for New Year’s Eve sunshine is running to grab a couple of bottles of champagne and she comes home to h digging out a little disco ball he randomly had from the seventies and he’s got it magically levitating in the room and she’s ??? so he’s explaining that he knows people love to watch the ball dropping on tv but since he doesn’t have one for them to watch on, this ball will drop when the real one does so they have their own to look at:) so of course she’s :((( and all the little mirrors are reflecting the warm glow of the fairy lights making it even more cozy and they spend the night getting wine drunk and dancing in his house to all their favorite records and giggling and just being so happy together:( and they look at the clock and it’s five minutes to midnight and they see the ball slowly starting to fall from its place and h is wrapping his arms around her and swaying her in place and they start counting down together and he’s grabbing her face with ten seconds left and rubbing their noses together before whispering wishes for a happy new year against her lips and peppering her in soft kisses:((( your honor I love him, I do:( 🐢

Wait wait wait:( I always think ab citrine in the summer so I never think w lot ab him in the winter and through the holidays but you know he loves the whole thing all of the festivities and excitement:( like k know he loves decorating and all of the sparkles and him making the cottage smell all christmassy:( and you know he makes all the best gifts for her:( and he’s just so happy to be there w her and spend such a special time w her:( AND NEW YEARS WITH A DISCO BALL:( the mirrors reflecting all over w fun music and he def has to keep her distracted so she can stay up all night w him to see the ball drop:( and sharing a sweet little kiss w her:( k love love love this so much bestie:(

I've seen you post quite a lot of concerts this year so I wanted to know all the concerts you've been to in 2022 :)

omg i- yeah i've been to a lot this year...... 😂💸💀 it's the first year i've ever been to a kpop concert ever!! it started by taking my friend to a twice concert in february, then literally on the way home on the train we booked more concert tickets and it's honestly spiraled uncontrollably from there. in total i've been to 11 concerts and 3 music-festival/convention format events and saw a total of 30 unique soloists/groups perform live (31 if u include the kq trainees that opened for ateez <3). i even have a running tag #📷 for any content i post using my own fancams 😎

my year was something like: february twice, april bts, may kpop.flex in germany (these were the tickets we bought on the way home from the twice concert bc my friend is a huge moomoo and i'm a huge multi so i was easily convinced LOL we managed to get barrier spots the second day which sadly nct dream was day 1... and oneus also got covid 💔 the final lineup was mamamoo, kai, nct dream, monsta x, enhypen, dreamcatcher, ab6ix, (g)i-dle, and ive), july ab6ix (bought these the night after seeing them in germany haha they included soundcheck + hi-touch which were fun^^) & stray kids & dreamcatcher (which i wasn't planning on going but bought tickets the day-of haha), august seventeen and kcon LA (finally saw tbz after my june concert was canceled 😥 lineup: stray kids, nct dream, ateez, the boyz, itzy, wjsn, cravity, enhypen, kep1er, lightsum, loona, ini, to1, p1harmony, nmixx, stayc), september sunmi, october blackpink, november ateez & the rose, december yerin baek and LA3C which we went for seventeen's ~50 min set LOL

yeah so i've essentially gone to a kpop concert every month this year which is def one of my fave parts of being a multistan hehe 🥰 i already have tickets for p1harmony's tour next january as well as oneus in february and have been keeping an eye on any announcements about new stops for mamamoo's world tour! we'll see how many more memories i can make in 2023 :)

1 Chronicles 23: David Crowns His Son Solomon King Over Israel

1 When David was old and full of years, he made his son Solomon king over Israel.

2 He also gathered together all the leaders of Israel, as well as the priests and Levites. 

3 The Levites thirty years old or more were counted, and the total number of men was thirty-eight thousand. 

4 David said, “Of these, twenty-four thousand are to be in charge of the work of the temple of the Lord and six thousand are to be officials and judges.

6 David separated the Levites into divisions corresponding to the sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari.

Gershonites

7 Belonging to the Gershonites:

Ladan and Shimei.

8 The sons of Ladan:

Jehiel the first, Zetham and Joel—three in all.

9 The sons of Shimei:

Shelomoth, Haziel and Haran—three in all.

These were the heads of the families of Ladan.

10 And the sons of Shimei:

Jahath, Ziza, Jeush and Beriah.

26 the Levites no longer need to carry the tabernacle or any of the articles used in its service.” 

27 According to the last instructions of David, the Levites were counted from those twenty years old or more.

28 The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God. 

29 They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the special flour for the grain offerings, the thin loaves made without yeast, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size. 

30 They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening 

31 and whenever burnt offerings were presented to the Lord on the Sabbaths, at the New Moon feasts and at the appointed festivals. They were to serve before the Lord regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them.

32 And so the Levites carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting, for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the Lord.

The indie-pop group got my attention with "Summer of U" (a blast of shoe-gaze dream pop). They actually began near Boston and have since relocated to Upstate NY. They've played around the Boston area many times over the years, notably Boston Calling (they played in 2023 the day after I attended) and Levitate Music Festival. Check them out!
