thinking about that one (dated) post by @/lightningboys about jason's parentification in parts of the fandom, and how it's so much worse when you remember that he's been attempting to avoid new responsibilities and leadership roles being put on him because he was the son of jupiter... and yet, he's still being put in these roles by fans, even though fandom would normally be expected to be the space where people understand how fucked up it is and use him as the blorbo of choice to explore the themes of freedom, self-discovery and identity instead 🧐

it reminds me of one time i brought jasico up in the conversation with friends of mine who don’t see romantic subtext between jason and nico. of course, it's fine not to ship them, but the way i had received the specific following response: “oh, i don’t personally ship them, i see jason more like a big brother figure for nico!” was. oh my god. do you realize the issue with the use of ‘big brother’ raises? putting responsibilities on jason, once again?

as far as canon goes, jason is nico's FRIEND, and they stand on a (relatively) equal ground. moreover, i think depicting him as the Parent Friend™️, even if it's not completely wrong and does have a canon basis (re: his stubborness on supporting and defending nico post-cupid scene; his love language is partly made of words of affirmation and he was devoted to do the best for literally everyone else…), doesn’t fully give him and his relationship with the son of hades justice. it's reductive, man :(

i am not blaming people, as i think making more rich characterizations and being willing to look for the depth a character actually demand practice, like learning a language; it’s no wonder people who write long ass essays about jason’s character tend to be older. but it is shown multiple times throughout hoo and toa that the Parent Friend™️ isn’t a role he really chose-- rather, it’s a role he’s been forced into. and it would be nice to take this into account more often! jason is genuinely such an interesting character to study once you get past this. like! he never was a natural born leader! insert that in your fics!

For the past 2yrs I have been creating pieces using a machine given to me by my mother in law. The same machine she used to make my wife's clothes when she was a baby. The machines I owned before that were always used and cheap ones, picked up from Craigslist. I never owned a new machine. Always said I would buy one but just never did. Well, @jenaetien obviously got tired of me complaining about buying a new machine because I woke up to not only a new machine, but a vintage, collectable one as well. I'm a bad man with my old machine, but with this new one I'm untouchable. I dont think I could ever express to her how much this Christmas present means to me. JUST LIGHTNING STONE Okay so I have a friend who loves DDLC and I used to be super duper into Lencest (which if you didn’t know, it’s one Len module x another Len module) and my favorite ship was LightningBoy (Lightning Stone x Bad Boy, I still ship it, but not as hardcore as I used to), and she asked me to draw this MONTHS AGO, and it’s finally done. Tbh, it's weird how Jon interviews Firelady and Lightningboy. How are they okay with him simply rolling up and clicking the recorder on. What makes him think that's an okay thing to do? And how quickly he accepted having a god! Baby boy needs a manual for this kind of life. Firelady got one, why not he?

okay, first off? Firelady and Lightningboy are the BEST names for Jude and Mike, thank you SO much for that. XD and yeah, Jon... Jon is learning things on his own, the only way he knows how, which is to ask questions. and to be fair Firelady was the member of a cult, so, she kinda lucked out there?? depending on how you think about it/feel about Jude. She had people to ask. Jon doesn’t. To be fair, Mike had to find out things the hard way as well, if in a slightly different way. lol
